Newsroom is a great addition to the lynden dining experience. I've come here several times and each with different experiences. The first time we sat inside in the small bar area. The inside can be quite loud as this is a family and kid friendly restaurant. The other times I sat outside in the covered area. The food is delicious, no matter what you try. First time visit on Sunday night, our party enjoyed salad and burgers and beers. We enjoyed it all.

We realized they over charged us $35 a few days after eating there when reviewing our bank statement. They refunded us with no apology or comp. Gave them another chance after that and the burgers were dry and fries weren't good. The Whatcom County Health and Community Services determined they violated a few health codes in January 2025, which can be searched online. After those findings, we decided we will never go there again. read more

Paid a visit Dec 5. By far the worst creamy Mac n Cheese I have ever had. Not only that it was served cold, waitress fixed the issue by getting it heated but still lacked the creaminess as advertised. For what they charge a box of Kraft Mac n Cheese would have been better. read more

Unfortunately, our recent visit was very disappointing. My family and I waited nearly an hour before receiving our food, and when it finally arrived it was overly salty and difficult to eat. To make matters worse, the restaurant was swarming with flies, which made the experience quite unpleasant. An item we ordered was also forgotten and never brought to the table. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but this restaurant has gone downhill since opening, and sadly our experience reflected that decline. I hope they take steps to improve, because the potential is there, but at this point, I am not sure if I will return any time soon. read more

Patties perfectly cooked with a little crunch on the edge, the mushrooms were sautéed and not killed, the Swiss cheese was perfectly gooey and Mama Lil's peppers never disappoint!!! Oh, and the fries!!! Chunky, hand-cut perfectly cooked deliciousness!!! Pro tip - get a side of the Whatcom Blue Cheese dressing to dip your fries (and the burger, and your fingers!!). Husband liked his fish and chips, as well. Said the fish tasted extra fresh and not overly battered (like some beer battered fish can be). And he LOVED the fries, too! The space is great! Take note of the glass table in the middle of the pub, built out of printing equipment. Very kewl! They have a single big screen TV over the bar, which was playing the Mariners game last night. They have an outdoor patio area and are having bands once a month. The owner was making the rounds making sure everyone was happy - always a positive. Will definitely return and save room for the bananas foster bread pudding or a scoop of Edaleen ice cream (The Daily Scoop ice cream counter is attached to the pub, so lots of flavors available!!! Be sure and ask for extra garlic aoli sauce for your fries. The reason for the 4 stars for is the service. Attitude is great however, the servers appear to be inexperienced. He liked them and said he would order them again. he asked if they could be a little extra crispy and they said "sure". I know I wanted to try one, but we don't share... we married. LOL I ordered a bowl of the clam chowder. It was a large bowl with a delicious sliced of buttered, grilled bread. Like a large sourdough slice of bread. The bread alone was pretty darn good. But the chowder was hearty and hot. A perfect meal for a cold, wet day. They have an excellent selection of beers and ciders. Also a full liquor bar. Plenty to choose from and enjoy. I am looking forward to going again. The food is definitely fresh and delish, the service is great and quick. There are nice seating options also. Have gotten spoiled with Baja Fish Tacos in Arizona, missed them here, so was excited to see on menu. Unfortunately, wasn't the same. Rather than a recognizable piece of fish, it was cut into a fish stick size, breaded. No spice to the chipotle sauce; it was watery which made the flour tortillas soggy. I had asked for corn tortillas but received flour. Didn't want to wait for another order, so ate it. When brought to the attention of my waitress, she said that was what she had ordered. Tried something new the bitterballen meatballs but didn't finish them. The Bacon Smash Burger tacos would have been good if it didn't have the Smash Sauce drizzle on it, it threw off the whole flavor context of the tacos. The outside patio is great, the decor of the interior is great too, restaurant is clean, comfortable, trivia night was fun!... Unfortunately the service is hit & miss... some days it's great service, friendly, timely, food comes out hot etc. Other times, we wait at the front for a long while even when there are several tables open & the hostess is chatting by the bar or wondering around (it's a small-ish restaurant), sometimes other tables who arrive after us are seen before us or the wrong food comes - again it's good food, but at times the order is incorrect. Love this place. Favorite restaurant in Lynden by far. Food is always consistent. Burgers are very flavorful and salty. Appreciate that they use local ingredients and even organic ketchup packets. The service, well that needs addressed. Not only me but several people I've talked to have complained about how long it takes to get orders. I waited over a half hour past my pick up time to get my order. The staff chatted with me and never offered me a drink as I waited or a discount when I finally got my order. They not only keep the building and town history, but also the cheap dutch reputation. What would it cost to offer a drink as I wait 30 min past my pick up time, maybe 10% off my meal. Way to keep it Dutch....... Other friends have said the same thing, waited over 45 min and never given a discount or offered a free app or drink. read more

I've been here a number of times and the food is always good but the service is pretty hit and miss. We were in the other night for dinner. We were seated fairly quickly, given water and menus then forgotten about. We sat at the table for nearly 20 minutes and no server ever acknowledged us. We ended up getting up and walking out. Other patrons commented on the fact we were never helped, but no employee said anything to us as we walked out.
