I'd say the caffeine level is very light on this one and I am ok with that. After stuffing my face I took a nice nap for someone who is caffeine sensitive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GARLIC BUTTER NOODLES {$20.95) - Grilled lemongrass-marinated pork shoulder served over steamed soba noodles tossed with soy sauce, fried garlic, garlic oil, and butter alongside steamed botchy, finished with cilantro and a side of plum sauce. THIS WAS SO FLAVORFUL and yummy. I don't often eat garlic butter noodles so any garlic butter noodle is delicious to me. I did NOT see any fried garlic in my meal and felt it was only garlic oil that was present with the garlic profiles. The noodles were very garlic-y and butter-y. The pork shoulder was also perfectly marinated and dipping it in the plum sauce which was a mix of sweet and tangy paired well with the marination of the meat and butter-ness of the noods. It also came with ONE bakchoy sliced in half to appear as two. And I wish they some how incorporated the cilantro and carrots more into the dish instead of garnish to give some more herbal flavor. Even though, this dish was spot on. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Service was great! Did feel awkward when they handed me the machine to tap my card and leave a tip... they stood there watching you press the buttons. Seating: Inside seating for maybe about 25 people, 5 small groups or so. One menu item was all it took to bring us here for lunch on a Sunday: Mi Goreng (4/5 $18.95). Two of our party ordered this traditional Indonesian dish of stir-fried soba noodles with chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. It was very good but sweeter than we've enjoyed in Singapore. For a starter, we shared Garlic Fried Chicken Wings (5/5 $12.50) -- five dry-rubbed chicken wings deep-fried to perfection. Awesome! I had the Pineapple Fried Rice (5/5 $21.50) -- jasmine rice, egg, chicken, shrimp, Chinese sausage, pineapple chunks, vegetables, cashew nuts, and curry. It was one of the best fried rice dishes that I've enjoyed anywhere. Another dish at our table that I tried was the Hong Kong Style Noodle Soup (4/5 $17.95). Its been a while since Ive been here, and they have changed the name from The Nood Bar to Hom Mali. Still located in the same spot off 30th St. and parking is not the best in the area but thats just how the city is these days. Inside looks great...Super chill, with good music and pleasant vibes. Service was fast and friendly which contributed to a good experience. The Food was just as delicious as I remember. Looks like they may have changed the menu a bit but, still had some items from the old menu as to which I remember and some new ones as well. Everything we ordered was soo good!! I don't have one complaint about the food!! It all came out fast and hot!! It feels like a totally different place with the way they have rebuilt the entire area. Im sure with all the new apts that have been built, there is an increase in business which is a good thing. I accidentally walked right past it because the sign says Hom Mali in large letters FYI, but the food was so good! We ordered the Mi Goreng and the Lychee Duck Curry. The Mi Goreng was savory and smokey and the Duck Curry was so tasty. The portions were great for the price. For drinks we ordered the guava chill and the Thai tea. The food was pretty good - 3.5 stars there. The service was...odd. I ordered my favorite dish, Char Kway Teow and told the server I have dietary restrictions on meat and would like to order the dish without pork sausage and chicken. My friend's Laksa came out within 10 minutes. We waited another 10 minutes before my CKT arrived with tons of pork sausage and chicken visible (see photo). I had to flag down the server and tell him again that I ordered the dish without those two items. He took the dish and disappeared. 10 minutes later he brought out another CKT full of visible chicken. I started pulling the pieces of chicken out and putting it in a separate bowl -- I was appalled when the entire bowl was chock full of chicken. When the server reappeared I showed him all the chicken and said it was okay, I could just eat the noodles since chicken doesn't hurt my stomach the way pork sometimes does if cooked with it. He grabbed the plate from me as I was saying, "no! Really it's okay, I'm very hungry and my friend is almost done with her meal!" But he wouldn't listen and just turned around and left. Another 10 minutes later the server resurfaced with a very saucy CKT dish. I was so hungry I didnt even mind that the dish was oversauced for CKT. My friend had finished her meal by this point. Once I was done we paid and left. If I get a Malaysian craving next time I'll be sure to order online where I can write it out for them "no chicken or pork products please!" This little hole in the wall on a quiet corner in North Park is one of the best gems I've found since living here for the comfort of some warm, yummy noodles. The ambience is quiet and cozy, like you've been welcomed into someone's home even when every table is occupied. The times I have gone, I have been helped by very kind, gentle-spoken women that are always willing to give recommendations and guide you through the vast menu options. My go-tos have been the Szechuan Spicy Chicken Wontons loaded with flavor and the Crispy Spring Rolls are incredible and great if you aren't a fan of pork. The pan fried noodles and the chef selection noodles have always come fresh and flavorful with more than enough to enjoy then and later as even yummier leftovers once the flavor has really been absorbed by the noodles. However, they lost a star for me because the fried rice has let me down every time. Regardless of the menu option, the rice they use is either too short for the amount of sauce or the sauce is too much. Either way, the rice has repeatedly been mushy and not enjoyable to eat for me. We start with Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons - melt in your mouth. Laksa Curry Noodle Soup is a go to, it's heavenly with chicken and prawns. My fav is the Gochujung Udon which has unbelievable flavors. The Garlic Butter Noodles are to die for with silky flavors that make you keep eating. Decided to retry this place since I only got takeout last time. Sadly, I once again wasn't impressed by this place. Started with Szechuan Spicy Chicken Wontons and Steamed Pork Dumplings. The dumplings were pretty bland and I didn't like the dipping sauce it came with. The wontons had a nice hint of spiciness, but I did have to add more. My biggest complaint was that they were the most empty-filled wontons I've ever received. Basically there was no point of even adding things inside. My friend got their Garlic Butter Noodles. While this was the best dish of the night, the garlic to butter ratio was way off with the butter being much stronger in flavor than the garlic. I got a Miso Broth soup with tofu and veggies. I lived near this part of town in the 70's.  I remember it was quiet and there was a bowling alley.  The bowling alley has closed.  Replaced by apartments.  It looks like a huge apartment complex is being built across the street.  Should be lots of business for The Nood Bar when complete. Potstickers had a crunchy outer shell and full of veggies.  I prefer protein in my potstickers.  I would not get this again. Milky pork broth won ton soup.  I liked the flavor of the pork broth.  Disappointed this dish does not include noodles.  Also the won tons was a single shrimp with a won ton wrapper.  I prefer a mix of pork and shrimp.  Cha shu pork appeared to be a piece of pork belly marinated with soy sauce.  Pork was very tender and had lots of soy sauce based flavor.  Fresh bok choy had a delicious earthy flavor and my favorite part of this dish. 2nd visit I tried the salt and pepper fried chicken wings and pork yakisoba.  The wings had crunchy skin and were tender without being dry.  I got them without garlic and they had a mild flavor.  I prefer Golden Chopsticks version. Pork yakisoba had a ton of yakisoba seasoning and I was very thirsty afterwards.  Pork was tender and I loved the cabbage.  Pretty good dish.  If I ordered it again I think I'd add shrimp. Great food and friendly staff. This was on my foodie bucket list for a while, but I hesitated because parking is bad in the area. I opted to come in for lunch and found parking a few blocks away. I had the laksa curry soup with ramen noodles. The portion size was huge. It was creamy with a light spice to it. To satisfy my sweet tooth, I had Fly Me to the Moon which was a large scoop of mango ice cream on top of sweet sticky rice. The dish wasn't too heavy, but I did not taste much mango in the ice cream. The server was kind and genuine. I had a nice conversation with him. A couple of customers came in to pick up takeout and he knew them by name and was on friendly terms with them. Jumped on Yelp to find a good noodle spot in the area and found the Nood Bar. My son found the name funny so we chose this place to have lunch. Parking isn't the greatest in the area but we were able to find parking right across the street. I like that they have their menu taped on the window next to the entrance so that customers can have an idea of what options they will have. Once you walk in it feels clean and spacious. There was so much seating options, from tables to their little bar table. We chose the bar. Employees were so nice and friendly and constantly checked in on us which I really appreciate. I've been in search of a type of Szechuan or sweet chili wonton dish I use to eat on the East Coast for a while. The pictures online looked very appetizing here so I gave it a try. They had just opened I ordered the chili wontons along their avocado cream cheese and wanted to give their curry a try. The curry was delicious and met the standard but did not stand out on it's own. The chili wontons were not the flavor I was looking for in the dish or in general. I took it home home added some ginger powder, garlic salt al, and a tiny but of honey that really brought the flavor out to my liking The cream cheese avocado wontons are a hidden gem! Thee best cream cheese wontons I have ever had. The ratio of the mix, the size and the perfectly cooked shaped wonton balls cooked evenly with their crimped corners. This is a dish that stands out and its just an appetizer. It makes me curious to revisit and try some of the other items on the menu especially ones I have never heard of or tried. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai with a side of spicy Szechuan chicken wontons. The wontons were breaking apart by the tike I go home with my take out order and weren't as good compared to the last time I tried them.
