Everything was delicious, but what really knocked my socks off of that this place has the best croissants I have had in the US after having the real deal in Paris. They were flaky, and flavorful, with just the right amount of crunch. I will definitely drive back there for those again. I would HIGHLY recommend the Ham & Cheese Croissant, Chocolate Croissant, Cronut, and the peanut butter cookie with the Reese's in it. read more

Don't get it. My husband loves donuts even from some grocery stores and yet he did not like these. The donuts are overpriced and leave a film of grease in the mouth. Nothing turns me off more than ordering a piece of Quiche and having it thrown into a dirty microwave. Then as we proceed to go sit down our feet stick to the floor so I look down and see that the floor is so filthy it appears not to be mopped in a very long time. In fact I was just in a public outhouse with cleaner floors than this, I kid you not! The final weird factor was when I bit into a Boston cream and there was a pink hue to the custard. I have eaten Boston Creams, otherwise known as Bismarks, for 50 years and never had this odd appearance. We mistakenly drove 30 minutes to wish we had just headed to our local QFC and called it good. read more

When did this place change owners? [Or has it?] I used to visit fairly often, when it was called Georgia's Bakery?? Anyway, this morning, headed in for what I hoped would be a sweet treat & a cup of coffee to start a fun day of shopping, getting my nails done, etc. in North Bend, I was on the phone with a friend, so I sat outside on the sidewalk at one of the bakery's tables to finish my conversation before going inside. Suddenly, I became VERY faint, almost falling out of my chair. I was scared to death! My vision blurred, my heart was racing, & I felt like I was going to pass out. I told my friend what was happening (he was in Atlanta, could only be moral support), that I was VERY dizzy & didn't think I could walk. After about 10 minutes of that, I stopped a man walking into the bakery to ask him if he could tell the folks in the bakery that I was feeling very sick, that I'd almost fainted, & could I get a drink & something to eat? [I thought maybe my blood sugar was low.] After a couple minutes, a man from the bakery walked out with a glass of water. I told him I was really freaked out, that I felt like I was going to pass out, could he help me get inside so I could get something to eat? He basically just walked a few feet away from me, made no effort to reach out to steady me, or to offer a helping hand. I thought that was strange, but go figure. Chivalry is dead. I was desperate, so I went inside. He did carry a glass of water to a table (thank you for that, Sir), where I sat, waiting, hoping, someone would come check on me & bring me something to eat to settle my stomach. I waited about 10 or 15 minutes. When it became obvious no one behind the counter was going to offer to help me, I shakily, gingerly walked up to the counter & asked the same guy (manager? I don't know, he barely said anything to me) if I could get a cronut? He said, "Yeah," & I said, "Thanks, I'm gonna head to the bathroom. If I don't come out in a few minutes..." He said, "I'll send in reinforcements." I felt like that was a good sign at least, he'd agreed to offer me some small bit of support. When I came out from the bathroom, I hobbled over to my table (it was thankfully the closest one to the restroom). No cronut. All I had was a glass of water. I sat waiting, another 10-15 minutes or more, during which time both the girl behind the counter & the original guy saw me sitting there, looking pale & shaky. Neither of them bothered to come check on me, neither offered to bring me food, yet the place was NOT busy, they didn't have many other customers to take care of (about 8-10 the entire time I was there -- approximately 45-50 minutes)??? FINALLY, I realized they were just going to let me sit there! I once again shakily made my way to the counter, where my cronut was sitting on a plate, next to the cash register -- they apparently were worried about me not paying for it in advance? That's the only reason I can think of that they made me risk hurting myself to get to the counter TWICE even though I was very sick. I still don't understand why one of them couldn't have taken the time to bring the cronut TO ME, why they couldn't take my cash at the table. Yes, I understand, the normal course of business there is to order from the counter, pay first, I get that. But I was clearly in a crisis situation, & after his initial question to me, NEITHER of these folks EVER asked me if I was OK. NOTHING AT ALL. Nothing. Nada. No kind words, no offer of 'should we call 911?', no -- 'can I get you a cold cloth for your head? (the bathrooms had no hand towels) Is there anything we can do? Anyone we can call?' NOTHING. I sat there, trying to breathe deep, to regain my balance, & when I couldn't shake the dizziness after more than half an hour, I phoned a friend who lived nearby, asked her to drop by to pick me up to take me to an urgent care which was around the corner. I was SO scared, and SO unsteady on my feet, that I was afraid to walk 1/2 a block on my own. Yet, the folks at North Bend Bakery seemingly could not have cared less. As my friend (who immediately remarked at how PALE I looked) helped me out the door, neither of the employees said one word. I guess I was thinking perhaps, 'We hope you feel better soon,' might be appropriate, but apparently, even THAT was too much to hope for. I have honestly never seen such a lack of humanity firsthand, especially in a small town where one would hope people would be FRIENDLY, especially to a woman -- on her own -- who is clearly in medical distress. I'm still shaking my head in wonder, b/c I just don't get it. :( I don't know what happened to the folks who used to own this place, but I MISS THEM. I WILL NOT BE BACK to North Bend Bakery. read more

My colleague came back with several loaves of the apple bread and kindly gave me a loaf to try. This is the best apple bread ever!!!

We were excited to stop for lunch. I have never had worse service. Over half the menu wasn't available. As we got up to order, they didn't tell us what was and wasn't available. Everything we tried to order wasn't. On their Sunday menu. Eventually we said, what can we have (2 sandwiches). Most employees were standing around talking. read more

I can't go on enough about how much I loved literally everything I tried. So we went to the farmers market in crossroads and they had a table. We got the cherry pie, a cro-nut, an angel puff (I cant recall the exact name but it's like a puffy donut filled with butter cream filling, a slice of chocolate cake, lemon coffe cake. The donughts are even good the next day. I loved literally everything. I figured after sitting for a few hours they might be ok, but they tasted amazing. I'm sooo happy to have found them. I generally see this bakery at my local Farmers Market. They set up a HUGE booth with dozens of options. And they usually SELL OUT!! Their portions are huge and easily shareable. But at $3 an item, you can't just get one thing. You gotta try all the cake pie varieties. Last time I got lemon coffee cake (my favorite), the extra chocolate brownie, raspberry crumble and lemon crumble. I'm kinda obsessed with lemon things right now. The coffee case was moist and dense with a lemon filling layer in the middle like a good breakfast cake should be. I felt guilty for eating it all by myself but I also wish I had purchased 3 more pieces. The brownie was perfect but too big for me not to share. If you ever in the area, you must stop in and grab a pastry. They store well for a couple days and they can be breakfast, snack or a dessert. It's never a bad time for a sweet treat. I definitely look forward to seeing them every Saturday at my Farmers Market. read more

I love panini's and I couldn't wait to try one at The North Bend Bakery - after seeing their good reviews. A customer ordered something and he was told "sorry, we're out of an ingredient". When it was my turn I ordered the Mt. Si Panini and was told "sorry, we're out of focaccia bread", so I ordered it with wheat bread - disappointment #1. It took a LONG time to receive my order and they weren't busy - disappointment #2. I got it to-go and when I opened the bag I saw a wheat bread sandwich - not toasted, so what were they doing all that time I was waiting? If I wanted a sandwich I'd have ordered one or made one at Safeway. I know "panini" is Italian for "sandwich", but in the U.S. they are generally toasted, plus why do they sell special toasters called "Panini Makers"? - disappointment #3. Suffice it to say, I won't be returning to this bakery. Suggestion to this bakery - Don't advertise your sandwiches as "panini's" because they are just sandwiches. read more

My husband and I were really excited to pick up a doughnut and coffee for breakfast last Saturday morning. Unfortunately the case of doughnuts was rather underwhelming. I decided not to have one at all, but my husband wanted to try a pecan roll. The cashier wrapped the cold roll in foil before we could ask him to heat it, but he did at our request. When we opened it in the car, most of the topping had stuck to the foil, and the rest of the roll was bland, dry, and not nearly enough topping to make it worth the calories. Okaaay. This place is really amazing. First, cutest little ambiance ever. Like stepping back in time. I'm not a huge donut fan but these donuts are pure gold. The Bismarck is legendary. Full of the sweetest and smoothest Bavarian cream. And tons of it. Packed. With delicious chocolate fudge icing. These things weigh about 5 pounds each and are pure heaven. Also try the cronut. Their cinnamon bread is a delight and perfect for French toast. Pie is incredible, especially the apple. I had them make a cake for a birthday and of course it was fantastic as well. read more

Nice bakery but do not come here for sandwiches. We thought it would be nice to grab sandwiches before heading to the park. The sweets looked delicious but that sandwich selection consisted of turkey, ham or salami between two slices of store bought bread. It was a basic sandwich, which would be fine if it wasn't as expensive as a fancy deli sandwich. All in all, not a place I'd recommend getting sandwiches from. Stopped in with some friends after a Rattlesnake Ridge hike and lunch at North Bend Bar and Grill. It was a blustery, blizzardy day and George's Bakery impressed me. I wouldn't have given it a second glance but some friends wanted to try out the cookies. Upon entering, I found a shabby interior with old crocheted items and dated posters. But the place is truly charming once you start to look closer. It's been in business for decades and has a sense of history, built up by collectables and photos of bygone days, that was a perfect retreat from the cold November day. Four of us split a warmed up triple chip cookie and a slice of apple pie. The cookie was delightful and I so appreciated that our server warmed it up for us. The pie had huge apple slices with fresh cinnamon glazing and a soft crust. They let us take our coffee in to-go cups so our hands would stay warm outside. It's a good bakery with old world charm. I'll certainly be back for the apple pie! read more

Love this place...it's changed hands over the years, and I was partial to George's (the original owner) baked goods over anyone's, but everything here is still great. Try the apple bread, you won't be disappointed. And the lunch specials.....mmmmm.....for $5 you get soup and sandwich or salad, a slice of fresh bread, and a small dessert. I always think it's not enough to fill me up, but by the time I finish, it's the perfect amount. The soups are soooo good, as she is one of those cooks who just throws whatever into a pot, and out comes some of the most interesting and amazing soups. The only thing that sucks about that, is that she doesn't seem to recreate recipes very often. If you like a soup, good luck figuring out when she'll make it again, or even if she remembers how to make it again because she probably didn't follow a recipe. But that's hardly a con, as there will likely be another great soup waiting for you to try. Oh and I've lived in North Bend my whole life (30 yrs) and as far as I know, this place was never in West Seattle (like a previous reviewer said) as my parents were going here long before I was born. While looking for a treat in North Bend with my kids, we happened upon George's Bakery. The outside looked very promising and looks exactly how I would imagine a bakery should. We stopped in and much to my children's delight, there were large cases with many different kinds of cookies, pies, donuts, quiche's, sandwiches and treat's for our puppies (which the baker will sometimes pop into his mouth to shock onlookers. My dogs love them.). It happened to be after 2pm when we first went, so the donuts were half off. My kids enjoyed them thoroughly. My oldest had the pretzel sandwich and proclaimed it the best sandwich he's ever eaten. He asks me to stop in to see if they have it whenever he knows I'll be in the area. I, on the other hand, had a lace cookie the first time around. It was buttery, but I can't say I loved it. More recently, though, they've brought out their holiday fare and I've tried the Fyrstekake (a delicious Norwegian cake/bar cookie thing with a marzipan like filling) and the rum balls. Both were delicious but I find myself trying to conjure up a way to get back out there for another rum ball or three. They are chocolate and saturated with just the right amount of rum and have a delicate coating of thin chocolate. Perfection! George's also sells coffee and the staff says that the flow generally consists of the place being so packed you can't stand in it, to so empty you hear crickets chirping. If you decide to try this bakery, I hope you hit it just right. :-) It's on the main drag so we have been lucky to find parking at the times we've gone. The man who owns the place is the same one who has been baking there for decades. You'll see the picture on the wall from when he was just starting out. His wife has decorated the bakery front with vintage aprons, potholders and other knick knacks from a bygone era. We'll be back. Especially when the rum balls are around! read more

After visiting Georgia's Bakery post-hike on a Saturday morning, I don't know if I can drive I-90 past North Bend in the future without stopping for delicious baked goods. Good selection of pastries, cookies, pies, etc. We had an almond twist, a glazed twist donut, and a cronut - each was excellent in taste and texture. And a good value at $1.50 per item! Staff was friendly and walking the quaint downtown street was a perfect spot to enjoy. read more

Visiting North Bend, we stopped by here for a small snack and had the most wonderful experience! The food was simply delicious. There were so many things I wanted to try, I could eat here for weeks and not get tired of trying new things! On top of the lovely food were the fantastic staff. We met Steve the owner who was delightful and then we were fortunate enough to meet one of his newest employees Charles. Charles was absolutely what you want in a small town like this. I'm a fan of this North Bend bakery. It's great if you live in a town that has one of these, a true neighborhood bakery. They do a number of breads and pastries, as well as breakfast and lunch items, such as quiche and ham and cheese croissants. The great thing is that everything is made there, and you can see the bakers working! You can sit down, read the newspaper, and let your Saturday or Sunday slide away nicely. I'm a baked goods connoisseur and all I wanted was a fresh baked peanut butter cookie..The cookies at glance look very appetizing, but when i bit into the Sahara dessert, i wasn't very pleased. I swear to God, my mouth was dry for two days after eating their cookies. The bakery also looked like a very low rated day care and very outdated. The kind of daycare you child picks up the measles or even the black plague. I would suggest cooking the cookies for less time. read more
