My friend who lives nearby took us here when we were visiting and she didn't lie, the donuts are amazing! This is a cute little bakery in the heart of North Bend. We had to wait quite a bit in line to order our food. They make delicious donuts and I enjoyed the breakfast casserole-thingy but wished it had a few more herbs in it for flavor. They had a really tasty looking item on top of their display case with an egg in the middle of it and I almost ordered it until I saw the flies sitting on it. I felt like the employees were a bit distracted and unfriendly but they had just confronted a defiant patron about not wearing her mask so the mood was down. We felt so bad for them after seeing the crappy patron that we threw in a seven dollar tip. We walked right by an employee on the way out and was hoping for "thank you for coming!" but that didn't happen either. We've given them several visits and pretty much every time they've treated us very poorly for no reason I can establish. Donuts are decently good if you eat them on the spot. If you are in the area and there aren't any other options, then it's a fine place. We are prolly spoiled by other amazing bakeries in the Seattle Bellevue/Eastside area so perhaps not a fair comparison. Got a bunch of donuts (tasty though you can't really go wrong with donuts): my young but budding foodie daughter thought the bacon cheddar quiche was "meh." The disappointing part was that the website listed off so many more items but they didn't have most of the stuff. It was like a local donut shop. Fantastic donuts! I have had their donuts on three different occasions. 1) came in late near closing and there wasn't a lot to pick from. This HUGE chocolate donut caught my eye and the gentlemen behind the counter offered it at a discount rate and I couldn't pass it up. I wasn't expecting much since it was end of the day but that donut was DELICIOUS. It was cake like batter and very fluffy/airy and I ate more than I'd like to admit 2) came by Saturday during busy morning rush and there was tons to pick from. I got a smaller version of the giant donut I had at my first visit and it was AMAZING and gone in two bites. 3) Mercer Island Sunday market. got a donut for $1! Who knew prices that low still existed?! I was stunned and very happy with my sugar donut choice. It was just as fluffy with its cake like batter and not over sugared. Have maintained support for this business throughout Covid weekly at the Maple Valley Farmers Market and have always enjoyed their baked goods. Most recently the prices for our favorite donuts have DOUBLED all while the size has shrunk to hors d'oeuvre sizes, often containing little if any filling. Hoping that this was just a bad batch, nothing has changed. Charging $3.00 for a regular size jelly donut is overpriced, doing the same for one that is half the size is just disappointing. It's 9:30a on a rainy Sunday morning and I've just driven an hour to visit this highly rated bakery for my birthday. Uhhhh-ohhhh....No bagels. No sandwiches. Minimal donut options. Depressing atmosphere because now other customers are getting annoyed. Is this place going out of business? I asked how it could be that there were so few options on a Sunday morning and the response was that sandwiches are delivered on Wednesdays, and bagels are delivered on Fridays. I thought this place made a lot of what they sell. I'm not sure what they'll sell past 10a now, but that's their problem. Not impressed. read more

I'd love to give it a five. But it needs about 50-100k in updating to be a cute quirky, lovely little bakery. Couple of things, the direct view into the back bakery almost makes you wanna turn around and leave. I know I'm a stickler for cleanliness, but the view was pretty horrid. The walls were yellow from who knows what. The floor, gasp. The decor could really use an analysis of efficiency. Where the cashier is, a rather unfortunate spot, and same with the espresso machine. There is a low half wall that is rather useless taking up a significant amount of space in the center of the bakery. I'd take it out. And I'd clean up the sugar cream section for coffees etc. Wish I could give a loan, I'd love to get my hands dirty and make it really him in there. The bakery items were really good and that's why I gave it four stars. Otherwise I would have gone with three. We purchased cookies, donuts, coffee and bread. Super delicious and very well done. We shared a few donuts and that raspberry chocolate torte looking thing with a weird name I cannot recall. I will say that most of the donuts were standard, with the best being the blueberry glazed -- reminded me of the lovely cake donuts from Dunkin' when living back in NY. For west coast though, the donuts are better than average, just nothing to write home about, and at a price point that is higher than what I recall paying at Voodoo, I think I'll pass next time around. I grew up in North Bend and one of my fondest memories was taking dance class and going to the bakery next door and getting a treat after class. That was 48 years ago. So when I moved back in the area to retire after working all over the country I was excited to go to the bakery. What I received from the clerk was an eye rolling "quiche is not my thing" answer when I asked her what flavor she recommended. after I ordered a whole quiche and asked for four pecan rolls as well I got a sneer and "Anything else"? Like she was very put out. The other clerk was happy and smiling and there was only one other customer in the bakery. Made me feel horribly unwelcome. And my total bill for quiche ($25) pan deposit ($10) and four pecan rolls was $60 !!! Either those four rolls were &6.25 each or she over charged me as well. The thin dark haired clerk I think was embarrassed by how the heavier gal was treating me and told me to have a nice day on my way out, nothing I bought was bad, but not even good enough to put up with a clerk who doesn't want to be waiting on people or answering any questions. She can't be bothered so I won't be either. Drive to Duvall and check out The Grateful Bread, much better service, bake goods, and prices. read more

We had an issue with my friends order, which they took care of right away and then gave us free almond cookies. I checked in on yep and got a free donut. The quiche and oat bar were good, but nothing special. The Americano and latte were average. The problem here is the staff. Our order was taken by one worker who worked on it start to finish... which was over 15 minutes. She fumbled with the coffee machine while also heating up the quiche and was asked to move out of the way twice by someone who appeared to be a manager. The manager was an unfriendly looking person who didn't look at the customers waiting in line nor apologize to them for holding up the line, nor to us for holding up our order by asking our worker to move and stop making coffee. What could possibly be so important? Looking up a problem on the POS (Square) system from 2 weeks earlier. First of all, you can access your Square reports on any computer and did not need to hold up service during a busy Sunday morning, secondly it was a two week old issue (she mentioned twice that it was from 2/19) so it could have waited until the line died down. Along with this there were at least five more workers milling around moving doughnuts from one display to another, counting cookies and wandering into the back. None of these people could carry a warmed quiche to the front? Our very sweet counter worker had to say excuse me to get through the cluster of workers standing around to go get the quiche. Fifteen plus minutes is too much to wait for mediocrity. We have stopped here before and usually pop in when traveling home in the morning, but we will be finding another place that is warm, friendly and actually value their customers. read more

Same items, interesting second experience...First impression was not a good one, as they decided to put the only raised donut on the bottom of a bag containing heavy items and it was about a quarter inch thick pulling it out. No love there. The blueberry donut was super stale and the apple bread pudding was absolutely awful...dense, hard, and difficult to chew and get down. Most of what we got went into the compost. This place is beyond popular. Be prepared to wait in a long line for your donuts in the morning and for items not to be available once you reach the front. That is not what gives them only three stars though. If I was basing this review on their donuts only, they would probably get four stars. The donuts are good. Not the best I've had, but good. We were impressed with the custard filled donut, which had real custard cream inside. So many places do a knock-off. Along with the donuts, we ordered two slices of pie for later. One was more of a cherry pastry and the other was a slice of apple. The apple was sad. The pie hadn't been baked properly. Nothing like raw pie crust. Yum. The cherry was better. Nice and tart filling and the crust was crispy. It still wasn't amazing though. They sell their pies to local coffee shops so we've had the opportunity to buy their pie elsewhere. I had the chicken caesar pocket was so good. I saw him pop it in the microwave initially to heat it up and my heart nearly fell but then he baked it to finish it off and somehow, the reheated pastry was PERFECT. Flaky on the outside, warm on the inside, not dry at all - really wonderful. I personally prefer a polished look to my baked goods, but if everything they make tastes as wonderful as that chicken caesar pocket, I will gladly take the rough-around-the-edges-unpolished-ness with the goodies. This is a great little bakery for a post-hike lunch in North Bend. After hiking Snow Lake, my friend and I stopped here on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. I got the veggie sandwich, which was delicious and had plenty of good veggies, more than your average veggie sandwich, and there were lots of delicious looking baked goods. I also got day-old apple cinnamon bread, which was amazing. Service is a little slow but it looked like just the two women working there were doing everything, so all things considered they're doing an awesome job!
