Contacted corporate North Face after having a bad customer experience with manager in store. Corporate had no way of making up for service failure, couldn't even connect a call to speak to a representative. I placed an online order and spent $700 total, and of that $299 was a gift card. One of the jackets I ordered was way to big and unfortunately when I tried the smaller size, it was too small. There was no way to make the jacket work. So I take it to the Mag Mike store to processs the return. The gentleman at the register said it was policy that they give me the gift card back first and then the remaining balance back on my card. I pressed him a little bit and explained why that wouldn't make sense. He said there was nothing he could do. I then called customer service while in NF and did not mention the issue I was having at the counter. The agent assured me I could send it back via mail and get the correct refund. I sent it back and I finally got the refund 14 days later. So this one star is for the employee, male-blond possibly a manager, who couldn't process my return, gave me bad info, questioned me when I got off the phone with customer service, and who could have solved my problems then and there. read more

I was expecting more from a Magnificent Mile store and well. I guess it's gotten to the point where the products sell themselves and not much else. Service was near non existent. I walked in I was greeted and the sales woman walked away. Ok, I realize this is a two-story level story Andrew didn't have what I wanted on the first floor. Next, I have my toddler with me in his stroller and so I look for an elevator tucked away in a corner. No big deal. I get upstairs and find what I need for my son. Of course there are 2 sales women standing there. They could have definitely been mannequins because they were neither friendly nor helpful. I am guessing their purpose was more for loss prevention and less on customer service. I bought 2 coats today for my son because well, I couldn't find it in any other Illinois brick and mortar Northface nor was it available on-line. If I'm going to spend a few hundred dollars, especially at this flagship store, I expected a bit more friendliness from staff. Oh and one more thing, the person that rang up the sales transaction had difficulty logging into the register. Just my $.02, you may have a better sales experience. read more

This should be a 2.5 star review for customer service. I went here twice in the past two weeks and each time the experience was different. The fist visit on Dec 1, 2012 was good....there was an african american girl and guy who helped us (on the second floor). There was also a chubby guy, white or hispanic not sure, he was friendly too. On my second visit, I met the store manager, Christina, (terrible exerience). Also, the staff on the men's section were not that friendly.....this time it was a mid-aged lady and a younger arrogant chick....made my experience a whole lot worse. The whole point of customer service is that "customer is always right, no matter what," so if you can't accommodate their requests or needs than mention it in a polite and nice way....we are actually doing you a favor by buying items from your store, when there are several other stores around the corner! You can pretend to be smart in your little own world, not at your work place where you need to attend to the needs of the customers!!!!! My advice, buy the item online and have them ship it to you. Or go elsewhere..... read more

I had a slight rare issue with a backpack that I ordered online (only 1 month ago). I brought it into the store to show the problem I was having. Honestly, I had expected I would be hassled or just told to mail it for warranty. (I hadn't had much help or response from The North Face warranty team when I had emailed them.) But instead of being hassled, the associate helped me right away. He took my bag and I was able to exchange it for the same exact backpack right there in store for me to do the swap. He was quite helpful and knew his information on all the bags. He made my experience great. I would definitely recommend going to this location for great service. read more

I will never step foot in this store again or purchase a North Face item. The employees (who probably can't afford to purchase the merchandise they sell) are rude and ignore particular customers. I am not caucasian and was continuously ignored by the employees. A downright horrible experience. read more

I recently had a terrible experience at this North Face store location. If it were possible to give 0 stars, I would have. The store was not really very busy, and there were a decent number of staff members, although, none of them seemed to be actively assisting customers in sales. Most were straightening or at the register. I asked for help from one associate, who had to look up the item I was asking about. After inquiring about 3 different items, they did not have any of them. I asked if he could show me some similar items but the associate did not seem to know the product line well enough to point me in the direction of anything similar. He attempted to recommend the newest product that the store seemed to be pushing, but when I asked if it had the features of what I was looking for he said "well... no..." He asked one of his fellow associates to assist him. When I told sales associate #2 what I was looking for and asked if they had something similar, his response was "Ummm... we have a lot of things....?" (rather sarcastically). After his unenthusiastic response to me, he followed up by glancing away and saying "I have to go help this lady over there.." and promptly walked away?! I found his behavior to be extremely rude, and said so to sales associate #1. I proceeded to browse the store on my own for about 30 min and collected three items that I had questions about. I saw another sales associate (#3) and asked her if she was busy, or if she was able to assist me. She responded by saying "Well, yeah, I am kind of busy... but what do you need?" Slightly put off by her response, I asked her a few questions about the three jackets I had picked up. She looked as if she had no knowledge of the items in question at all, and said that she would go find someone else to help me. She walked away, and after waiting there for about 5-10 minutes, I saw that she was now running the cash register, and did not appear to have any intention of returning. Extremely disappointed and frustrated, I left the store. I intend to use my gift card online. I don't think I will ever try to shop at this North Face store again. When you go into a place like The North Face, with it's expensive high end technical gear, you expect a little more sales interaction from the staff, but I see that the staff at this location isn't much different than the experience you might get at H&M or Target. I have to second the review from Dayna B. I took my coat to the North Face store on on Michigan Ave. for repairs for small rips on December 6, 2013, and was told it'd be 4-6 weeks and would cost no more than $20 for repairs. I checked in by calling the repair center in California the first week of January and was told they had just started to evaluate the coat for repairs. I followed up with another phone call on January 27 and was told repairs would be $89, and that the coat had not been delivered until after Christmas. So my coat waited at the store for almost a whole month before they even bothered to send the coat in. At $89, I would have much rather sewed up the coat myself and worn it through this bitter cold winter. Fortunately I was able to get the fee waived (after they still tried to charge me $50), yet I am still waiting for my coat 2 months later. read more

I am a big fan of North Face coats... i actually just bought one yesterday.. couldn't be happier with my selection. I understand around the holidays, this store is very popular and has many customers coming in and out... but wouldn't you think they would have more inventory of coats? There weren't many coats i liked in sizes extra small or small. You would think they would carry more of everything during these times.. The selection was very picked through and when asking a worker on the floor if this or that coat came in my size, he was sooo rude. Could care less. I'm sure he wasn't filled with excitement working during the holidays, but he didn't need to be rude. Well with no help of his, i found one coat that i actually did like and they had my size.. well kind of. i settled with a size small.. would have loved to try on the extra small b/c i think that would have been a better fit.. but none the less, i walked away with a coat. read more
