Chef Max not only prepared amazing food but he was a great addition to our dinner party. He was upfront on menu options, timing, pricing and so fast to respond. He was one of 4 chefs I spoke to from Yelp and some of the others wanted a deposit to secure the date before creating the menu. One even said to just check his website and call the number there. Chef Max was quick with what he could offer via email so we could review, had a lot of variety, was able to change up things as we requested. He was entertaining while he cooked and his brown butter Cajun sauce that went with our surf and turf was out of this world good. BEWARE!!!! My initial contact with Chef Max dates back to November 2023 as I was interested in booking him for my wife's birthday in December. We worked together to develop a menu for the bday dinner which came to $1,690, with a 50% deposit required upfront to secure the date. Not a problem. Done deal. Shortly thereafter, my wife and I decided to go in a different direction for her birthday celebration. When I contacted Chef Max to notify him, he offered alternatives for the $845 credit I had with him, and the suggestion I opted to go with was a $500 gift card for his services that would be a Christmas gift for loved ones of mine, and the remaining $345 would be used for an intimate dinner for my wife and me. What I liked about the gift card option was that loved ones could have an elevated dining experience in their home, and best of all Chef Max said the GC had no expiration date. The weekend after Valentine's Day (2024), the intimate dinner for wifey and myself did take place. Chef Max prepared a lovely 4-course meal that we were very pleased with. Skip ahead a few months, and this is when things took a very unfortunate turn. The $500 GC that wifey and I presented to my best friend and his wife as a Christmas gift was ready to be used. May 20th is my buddy's wife's bday, and he wanted to have a first-class dining experience with Chef Max just like I had. My best friend reaches out to Chef Max, and a menu/date is planned. My friend follows up a week prior to the scheduled date to ensure everything is good, and he's reassured that Chef Max will be there. On May 19th my friend reaches out to Chef Max to follow up and ensure that the menu is set for the next day, and he is unable to reach the chef. He tries again and again but to no avail. May 20th comes, and again my friend makes multiple attempts to reach Chef Max, both by text and phone, but is receiving zero communication. Ultimately, my friend was left scrambling for last-minute dinner plans on his wife's birthday!! When he shared with me what happened, I was in complete shock. Not only did I not have that experience, but I would never think that someone who holds themselves out as a "celebrity chef" would pull a no-show on a client. Against my better judgment, I gave Chef Max the benefit of doubt. I attempted to touch base with him via text and phone over and over and over, hoping he would want to right this wrong. To date, I have yet to hear from Chef Max. He stood my friends up and essentially stole $500 from me. I opted to wait a month before writing this review because I wanted to give the chef an opportunity to do the right thing, but it's clear that scheming is his modus operandi. read more

This man is a fraud. At first when I initially booked him, he was very accommodating. The day before my event, he called to say he didn't have the place settings for the table. I told him no problem because I had my own table settings. The next morning he was to arrive at 8am. He called at 7am to say he was in a car accident(fender bender) and he would be late. No problem again because it was no rush to get there as long as he was there to have breakfast. He called back over and over with different excuses with a later time he would be coming. I'm starting to have a different opinion about this guy. He finally makes it at 10:40am. He starts to cook and the meat he is serving smells spoiled and my guests were giving me the side eye because they could smell it too. I asked him if his meat was fresh because it smells spoiled. He said it was the seasoning we were smelling. I said no I think this meat was spoiled. Anyway he continues to cook this meat. Finally breakfast is served . We tasted and smelled the meat and it was horrible. I went in the bathroom to throw up because it smelled so bad. He served waffles that were cold. So he goes to his car. My friends say this is not good at all. He comes back in the house and proceeds to cook lunch. Needless to say the lunch was just as bad as breakfast. So he says he has to go to the store and he will be back. Now I'm completely embarrassed. My friends say I will not be eating anymore of his food. When he returns I tell him, this is unacceptable. I'm embarrassed because my friends came to have a 3 nice meals and they can't eat this crap. He says that's fine, I will leave and return your payment. I knew that was not the truth.
