The dumplings looked so beautiful I didn't want to eat it lol and when I did? it was such a delicious satisfying bite. My friend and I shared 2 entrees. The short rib was braised perfectly.. it was falling off the bone. The crab in the crab curry noodle was so juicy and the curry sauce was to die for. Every plate was a delight. I especially loved the pad Thai and crab curry noodles. That crunch texture was soo good. Nicely plated. Delicious food. Polite and helpful servers. Beautifully decorated inside, weather was nice so we sat outdoors. My only qualm was when I got up to use the restroom inside, I was literally stopped at the door to be asked if I was dining outside by what might have been the manager or whomever she was. Yes, of course- how rude would it be to just barge in an establishment and walk to their restroom. If I didn't announce it or ask to use it- it must mean that I'm a paying customer who's entitled to use it. She came over later to apologize possibly to offset her own embarrassment. read more

Four of us came here for my birthday dinner back in November and split a bunch of things: E-san crispy rice: Great chewy texture. The citrus and trout caviar custard was tasty. Hokkaido scallops ceviche: You can never go wrong with scallops, and I enjoyed the slightly sweet red chili lime vinaigrette, but this didn't feel worthwhile for just four thin slivers of scallop. Rice cracker branzino: One of my favorite dishes of the night. The meaty chunks of fish were crusted with rice puffs and boasted a delicious chili-lime sauce similar to the one in the ceviche. It was also lined with a variety of pickled veggies like red onions, cauliflower, corn, and sliced cherry tomatoes for a refreshing balance. Such a flavorful and unique dish with lots of well-executed textural components. Colossal crab curry noodle: Sadly not so colossal. While there was a good amount of crab meat and the curry was tasty, we felt like there should've been much more noodles. Jasmine tea-smoked BBQ baby back ribs: My other favorite dish. The meat was so tender, and the sauce was delicious with a nice smokiness. The supposedly spicy basil fries weren't spicy at all, nor did they really taste like basil, but they were fluffy inside. Slow-braised lamb shank: Another well-cooked hunk of meat. I loved the lamb jus curry sauce. But yet again, the portion of saffron-raisin rice it came with was very small. Why so much skimping on the starchy bases, man? Pull-apart bread: This was probably my least favorite thing. The smoked crispy shallot butter was good, and I liked the bread's fluffy texture, but it was supposed to taste like kabocha and I didn't get that at all. It was a pretty forgettable bite and felt overpriced at $13. While some dishes let us down with their small portions, the flavors were almost consistently on point. While I'm not sure I would be a regular customer given these prices, I still had a great meal overall. read more

I randomly stumbled across this place while in Brooklyn. We were sat immediately without a reservation, which was great. The staff was super nice and I loved how intimate this restaurant was. We were unable to get those pretty dumplings, but we did see another table with them and they looked so good. Amazing. Meat fell off the bone. We also had the sautéed chicken ginger. Overall delicious! And service was excellent! The only issue I had was the noise. All of these dishes were incredible. We also all got three drinks which suited all of our preferences perfectly! Definitely get drinks while you're here. What first got me sold to try this place was the purple royal thai dumplings (Chor Muang). I saw someone else mention these in a review and I thought- I have to try that for myself. These dumps are basically served to you on their own little throne. They only come with 2, but 2 was enough for me. Perfect balance of sweet and savory. the dough of the dumpling itself was so unique and flavorful. I really enjoyed this and definitely recommend getting it. Other items I tried were: - Roasted Duck Buns: These were very good and rich. Just the right amount of fat vs sauce and fresh toppings. - Pigs ear roulade special: I did opt to try a special they had to step out of my comfort zone but this didn't suit my palate. the texture was a bit too gummy for me but I did like the flavor of the ear pieces combined with the strawberries and cucumber. If you're not as sensitive to textures, you might like this. - Grilled coconut- glazed duck skewer (another seasonal special): I was worried to try two duck dishes but the server assured me that this skewer was more like a meatball and she was right. This was so yummy and the perfect amount of sweet. When dragged through the chili-mint sauce, this was extremely mouth watering. I know I only opted to try a few of their specials as opposed to more staple menu items but I will DEFINITELY be back to experience some of their regular offerings. A good place for a second date, family or friends visiting in town or just a night for yourself. This isn't a fussy place and it seems like you can most likely walk in and get seated pretty swiftly. My favorite Thai restaurant in the area! The food here is consistently good, as we came here 2 years ago and upon ordering the same dumplings and soup, everything tasted exactly as amazing as it did our first time here. The food here is a little pricier than your typical thai restaurant, but it's totally worth it! The purple blossom dumplings are a delight to look at and super tasty. Another must order is the galangal soup, which was so tasty. I've never had galangal soup with fish before, and this was heavenly! The jasmine tea baby back ribs were delicious, but I couldn't really taste the jasmine tea. I will probably skip the ribs the next time I come and go for the massaman curry instead. Our favorite entree here was definitely the massaman curry. The chicken kuay teow kua was a little disappointing as it didn't have much wok hay but the flavor was pretty good. read more

Some years ago, I had gotten word of a Thai restaurant in Manhattan that served something very unique even in a diverse food metropolis like NYC. The unique dish is called Chor Muang which is the Royal Thai dumpling that was only reserved for royalty in olden times. It was a fancy spot that unfortunately shut down a bit later. A little later on, I was informed that there was a new Thai restaurant opening in Brooklyn that had a very familiar name and it was the same owners as the aforementioned establishment in Manhattan that had left a great impression on me when I dined in and simultaneously left a hold in my heart when they closed down all of a sudden. With that said I was super stoked that Nuaa would be around again even though in another borough! Brooklyn as we all know is a super unique borough so it was very fitting that the new restaurant be set up there. They have the corner space on the block so you cannot miss them. The interior is super spacious and the whole place has a nice feel to it (they have an outdoor area for when the weather is good). The bar area and drink menu consist of very nice zero proof drinks. My first visit was during Valentines Day and they had a special prix fixe menu that consisted of five courses. Certain courses allowed you to to choose one from among two to three options (some dishes may or may not be available) First course consisted of a dish called Yum Hoi Nang Rom (salmon gravlax with fried oyster, Thai chili jam and crispy onion. Second course I chose the Purple Blossom Dumpling I mentioned above (hand crafted butterfly pea flower dough, minced chicken, peanut, preserved radish and golden garlic). Third course I chose Nur Ken Tom Kati (6oz NY strip steak, lemongrass-coconut sauce, kaffir lime and scallion flatbread). Fourth Course had one dish called Som-Ow Pla Hang (grapefruit, dried bonito, fried shallot, kaffir lime posset, sweet rice cake and lemongrass gelee. Fifth course was dessert and what is very interesting is that they have a chef who has pastry experience so the desserts are not your average Thai fare (and there is nothing wrong with those desserts of course). The dessert menu seems to always be evolving and changing overall. I think it was well worth the price at the time. The dishes here are quite amazing. They informed me that they were starting to offer brunch later on which intrigued me. I rarely ever attend any brunch but I was down for this one. I returned with a friend and we ordered: Fresh Pomelo Salad (grilled shrimp, toasted coconut, caramelized cashew nuts, lime fish sauce caramel). The pomelo was in season at that time. Refreshing. Fresh Banana Blossom Salad (coconut poached chicken, 2-nuts, organic quail egg, Thai Chili jam-coconut nam yum). Savory salad for sure. Crispy Octopus Mussel Pancake Skillet (beansprout and chili sauce). This is apparently a very famous Thai street food. I can see why. Son In Law Duck Egg (fried boiled organic duck egg, homemade black pepper brioche, tamarind-fish sauce caramel). This was a dish my friend was excited to try as she had seen another version of it elsewhere. Try it at least once if you ever dine. Shrimp Spicy Basil Noodle (wide rice noodle, fresh Thai bamboo, holy basil, lesser ginger). The same noodles used in Chinese dishes and other Thai dishes like Pad See Ew. the shrimps were pretty plump. Tasty dish. Dessert was a separate menu from brunch. In order to not have any regrets I just ordered all three desserts they offered at that time. Everything including dessert was plated very elegantly and worth a photo. Overall I loved the food and dishes that I was able to order (there are a lot more I have not tried) and of course the biggest compliments go to the wonderful FOH staff who take care of customers and BOH who make sure things run smoothly in background, This review reminds me I am overdue for a visit. I wonder what cool dessert they will have next. And those royal dumplings I will always associate with Nuaa even though other restaurants have their version now. read more

I live on Vanderbilt but don't usually eat on my street due to the price to taste ratio, aka the price is not worth what you're actually getting (in my opinion). Further, I've tried a few of the restaurants on Vanderbilt and they all seemed overrated (Ozakaya, Nourish Thai, Banhmigos, Zaytoons, or Shah's Halal just to name a few), especially when considering the price of what you're getting. The only thing I think would be worth the money is the Lox bagel with truffle cream cheese at Olde Brooklyn Bagel Shoppe, but that's like $20 for a bagel! Anyways, I have tried two dishes previously at The Nuaa Table and enjoyed those dishes, but I wasn't necessarily sold on coming back due to the price of the two dishes and their portion sizes. However, I recently tried their Short Rib Massaman curry, due to hearing a friend talk about their favorite dish at The Nuaa Table that is the "only thing they would go back for." They also iterated that the restaurants on my street were over-priced for what you're getting, so I figured I could trust them. Once I took a bite of the Short Rib Massaman curry, I was shookith! A burst of flavor perfectly seasoned, with the short ribs melting on your tongue, with a hint of peanuts. As a southeast Asian, I am particularly picky about my southeast Asian food, therefore, I was thoroughly impressed by the way the dish was not catered to the typical American palate. I love the Massaman curry at Boran (one of my all time fav Thai restaurants) and Sukh's Panang Nuer and I can say that The Nuaa Table has the best Massaman curry. Yes, it's much more pricer than Boran, but essentially the same price as Sukh, just better all around than Sukh. Glad to finally have a restaurant on my street that I can start being a usual at now. read more

I wanted to give it 4 1/2 stars but Yelp will only let me do 4 or 5. I removed half a star because the drinks didn't come out until after our appetizer which was a bummer. Mordern minimalist chic decor but definitely upscale, pristine tiled floors and walls beautiful floral arrangement in the middle of the restaurant. I walked in during lunch hours on the weekend, sat right away, lunch menu was simple, detailed. I ordered the duck bun which was excellent, the different texture and flavors. The veggies dumplings did not disappoint, the pad Thai was delicious and the Apple tart Tatin was scrumptious ( the best I've ever had) it had everything you needed. I had a vegan meal with the most gorgeous and delicately sauced tofu steak imaginable wrapped in a lacy, crunchy, delicate tasting rice pastry. Thai iced tea comes in a bottle with a cap, even a packaged/expiration date on it, so no worrying about a wet mess. I had legitimately been wanting to go to the spot for years, and just hadn't gotten around to it as I don't have many friends in the neighborhood. But, every time I walked by and saw someone with the colossal crab curry noodles, I would do a double take. I've literally stopped and asked people what they were eating before so I could know that dish for future, and funny enough, someone did the same to our table yesterday. We started with the honey lemongrass tea, which was tasty, and the BEAUTIFUL purple blossom dumplings. They are sooo pretty and delicious - be prepared that they're kind of spicy fyi, probably a bit more than medium, but still pretty manageable (unless you can't eat spicy food at all). We had the banana blossom salad next and it was delicious - loved the quail eggs in it! Definitely recommend it. Finally, we finished with that famed colossal crab curry noodle dish I'd been waiting for at least a year to have, and it was excellent. I would happily, happily go back and get it again. My friend and I split these things and they were good portions to walk away satisfied but not stuffed. read more

Make sure you order CHOR MOUNG purple blossom dumpling! This looks like an art piece. Each one is hand made. Pretty and delicious!! The Tao HU Tod- wrap with crispy rice, and tofu was very soft! Fresh banana blossom salad- the Thai chili jam coconut Nam yum dressing taste amazing! Slow braised short ribs Massaman curry - the short ribs was super tender!! The Lemongrass soup was a standout, offering just the right amount of spice and portion size. I was, however, a tad disappointed with the Pad Thai, as it didn't quite deliver the expected sweet, salty, spicy, and sour flavor profile. I was hoping the flavors were kicked up a knotch. Their logo looks more like that of a non-profit community center than it does of one belonging to a Thai restaurant, but don't let that fool you. The food here will make you want to write soliloquies, do a heel-click jump, and never judge a restaurant by its logo ever again. The dish I enjoyed most is the most basic of orders-- the pad thai. It was so deeply flavorful and full of smoky, rich char that made me want an order to myself instead of the one we shared for the table. No other pad thai could ever! Next I loved the crispy purple eggplant, lightly battered and marinated in an amazing sauce replete with crispy shallots and sliced peppers. I also couldn't get enough of the addictive brussels sprouts and green curry, which they made vegetarian upon request. Our table also delighted in the Jasmine tea smoked baby back ribs, which they described as falling off the bone and worth a visit for alone. During the warmer months you can grab an outdoor table on their little green turf with a perfect view of Vanderbilt Avenue closed for the Open Streets program, full of life.
