We dined tonight at the Nugget in Goleta. We ate outdoors in the back. The trout was large, boneless, succulent; cooked perfectly. We chose a delicious home made blue cheese salad and fresh, crisp,mild Cole Slaw. We had also a perfect Crème Brûlée for desert. We also had a cup of delicious chili. The price was modest considering the perfection. It was obvious that nothing came from a supplier or a bottle. We are looking to trying other items on the large menu, but also we look forward to having exactly what we had tonight. Have come here a few times with co-workers and twice with family. To me, the beef stroganoff is to die for. -Have had burgers and chicken strips here too. The burgers are pretty good, the chicken strips a bit on the thin and easy to over-cook side of things. -Service and seating has always been prompt when I've been here and they have also handled some large groups (when I've come with co-workers) with ease. read more

Nice decorations when you walk in. Lots of older folks come here for early dinner. The Ortega burger was good. Had chili, sweet pickle, whole raw onion, lettuce and tomato. I really like how they give you that thick raw onion slice like In-N-Out. The side salad was a good side with the burger. The salad reminded me of the pre washed mixed green from Costco. I found this place a few years ago and I have become a regular. I lived in SB and loved Harrys. This place is very similar!! Stiff drinks and consistent food. Always a good steak and fish dishes paired with strong drink. My family does all our family events there and we find it as our meeting sport because you can never do wrong! I'm honestly not sure what's going on with this place. It's always been my go too but in the last month or so, something has changed. The servers they had before used to be on it like crazy but the ones they have currently are just not. Watching them bring people that got there well after us their food before even taking our order was a little irritating. It's like they were ignoring us? forgot we were there? Not sure. Either way. YEEESHIE!!! That was really bad meatloaf! I've enjoyed the burgers and Stroganoff at the Nugget in the past. The meatloaf was bad to the point that I think either the gravy or meat used in the loaf had gone bad. Anyway, I was disappointed. The service was fine!...and the dining area was clean! read more

We had a good experience. They accommodated our party of 8 easily on the patio with short notice. I think I think it was a good basic bar and grill. Nothing I tried was spectacular but the service was good and it's a comfortable place to spend a meal with family and friends. I'll be back at some point. read more

It was good, not great -- something is missing. I haven't been to the location nearby in SB, but have been to the Summerland one, and that has that great saloon/tavern feel -- dark and a little naughty. This one has windows all around and is built more like a small Denny's, a family-style restaurant with a bar, not that there's anything wrong with that. I liked the fair prices, and it has the great ol' Nugget menu -- full of rich morsels: burgers, steaks, seafood, and salads. Besides the usual fare, things like Beef Stroganoff or the Meatloaf dinner, both for $10.95 -- tug on my heart for next time. It had been 10+ years (pre-Yelp) since I've been to a Nugget, so I had to remind myself of one of those famous burgers: "Gold Miner's Classic" Burger [$9.95, 3.5 stars] -- a classic with lettuce and tomato, onions (grilled, my choice). Tasty for sure, but alas, just a "burger" and nothing at all special. The bun was just a store bought bun, and the beef patty (although I could taste quality) was thin and made in a press -- so it's perfectly round. Instead, hand-form that baby and make it thick. Still, it went down easy along with the massive amount of French fries. With service just fair (efficient, but no personality displayed), it's gets just an average grade. read more

The food is delicious. The crunch burger is my all time favorite and I always start with the half wedge salad. The lettuce is always cold & crunchy and the ingredients fresh. Fried Calamari ($14.95) Kinda tasty. A little too greasy for me. The breading was crispy but heavy and too salty for me. The rings were small and I got only one tentacle. Served with cocktail and tartar sauces. The tartar sauce is a little on the sweet side (which I didn't care for.) Nice effort but I wouldn't order it again. I enjoy the nugget. Would go to the Summerland location with my family as a child. And their food here at the Goleta location is a decent value for the quality. In general, the staff is pretty reasonable. However, one employee is simply not. I've seen many customers get frustrated with this employee -- so I always try to be extra courteous when addressing him. But there is simply no pleasing this man. He is consistently rude to the customers. Enough so that I will never be back. I highly value the work of the service industry, especially during these trying times. However, I this guy was rude to customers before Covid. I have reached a breaking point with this man. No more nugget. He isn't worth it. read more

In normal times, there aren't many sit-down restaurants in Goleta, particularly on Calle Real. This spot is one place you can enjoy a meal with the fam in a relaxed atmosphere. Their menu is somewhat limited, but the have good sandwiches, fried chicken, and burgers. The servers are inevitably friendly and the drinks never disappoint. The decor is very country and the prices are a tad high for what it is, but there aren't many options in the area so it's likely to be pretty crowded no matter when you go. They support local non-profits and you're likely to have a nice experience, so you can't go too wrong. read more

Tried this place again after bombing out the first time I tried it last year. The one star is for service. I would give the food 3.5. My friend LOVES this place so I reluctantly agreed to try it again after my first bad experience with slow, inattentive service and mediocre food. We have always sat at the outside patio. The service has been very poor, with bad attitudes from the servers. First of all, tonight I sat for 20 minutes with not even a glance from the servers. To add insult to injury, two tables -sat AFTER us -were attended to quickly by a server. Another table which had been seated at the same time as my arrival, left after being ignored. My friend had arrived 10 minutes before me and had been served a drink immediately. When a server finally came to our table- 25 minutes after I had joined her- he unapologetically said "We have a new system and everyone's getting used to it, plus we are busy". My friend said "Well, we've been waiting for over 20 minutes since she got here". He said "Well, you can leave if you want". No problem, sir! We went across the street to Los Arroyos, a delightful place with wonderful food and service. I will never return to the Nugget again. First time, shame on you. Second time, shame on me. Too many other good restaurants to patronize in my town. read more

First time here and I had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Nothing special about it. It was very plain! Just dry meat and cheese. My co-worker had the salmon salad which looked pretty good but it was just salad, one cherry tomato, and a few croutons tossed in lol nothing special here either. Reminds me of a Western theme park with Chili's style chotchkies everywhere. Unfortunately they don't distract from the bland food selections. Weekend shopping called for a lunchtime rest. The Nugget patio seemed like a good idea. I was wrong. Back patio calls for sun with a high chance of 101 road noise. The limited and disappointing beer on tap drove me to iced tea. I know. Right? When asking about the guacamole burger I was told it's made with avocado. Good to know. Tried the chili burger with salad and my lunch date ordered the chicken focaccia sandwich. The burger was served open face and smothered. Better than expected with a touch of kick. The chicken was messy but edible. The chili mayo was the best part of the mix. There's nothing terrible about this little nugget but nothing special either and around here, special is required for a repeat. the prices were also higher than I expected. The cleanliness and hygiene of the dining area is terrible. Clean really matters during COVID. The tables are crammed close together, only arm's reach, in the hot parking lot. Tables were dirty (mayonnaise smears and sandwich leavings). Glassware is marked with finger prints and lipstick stains. I have been coming to this Goleta Nugget since the day it opened. I have given them my take out business during the shut down in March-July. And I go to the Carpinteria Nugget, too. But in addition to the filth, the Server was hostile. Took the kids to dinner at the Nugget in Goleta. I ordered the beef stroganoff and had a Chief Peak to wash it down (okay maybe 2). Stroganoff was very generous with meat and the gravy was spot on. Just like momma used to make. Aside from the 8 bay leaves lurking in my sauce, it was a really tasty and hearty. Service was good. Seem like they have a number of quality veteran staff there who know how to run the show. Atmosphere at Nugget is rustic with a Wild West vibe. Tons of license plates from all states and a bunch of animal heads to keep an eye on you while you enjoy your meal. It's a good spot to bring the family, have a beer and watch a game. Always busy there so get there by happy hour to get a booth. I've eaten there a number of times, so if stroganoff is not your fancy, they offer tons of burgers/sandwiches/appetizers and quality steaks and chicken plates. Outdoor ambiance is very nice although it's right next to the freeway (hence, I took off a star). The menu offers a wide array and wine selection is great.
