This place is okay. It has decent food. The inside isn't anything special but it does have a nice view of the golf course because of the big glass windows, however, it does get pretty hot if you're sitting right next to it. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was really good but the potatoes weren't great - the seasoning was weird. My family comes here every time were on vacation because it's so close to where we stay, but I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. It's nothing special. read more

I have to say that, I like what is going on here. Since this is so close to my house it is a nice for the family to eat so I can take a break from cooking for a night. I have. tried a few things here and I have decided to stay with the Alfredo. word of advice don't order the creme brule because they never have it, so do not set your self up for disappointment. then look over the menu and order everything so they know you want dessert because many times our dessert has been completely frozen in the middle. over all a nice family place to grab a bite to eat. read more

I could actually write two reviews about the Oaks Grille. i would give it two stars for lunch and dinner, but four for breakfast. When it comes to lunch and dinner nothing seems worth the price. Breakfast is pretty good though, with quite a few options. We've liked all of the omelets we've tried, as well as the breakfast potatoes. read more

We did not eat at the actual dining room... we ate at their "Par" cafe... through the bar and out on the patio. It was an 'off' time (2:00PM), so it was not crowded and the service was fine. Hubs liked his pastrami sandwich. I liked my chinese chicken salad... the chicken on it was grilled and yummy (I am PICKY about my chicken!!!). Hubs LOVED the fries... *I* thought they tasted like they had been fried in really OLD oil - even a little "fishy" flavored... Hubs said that he LIKES fried fish, so that was fine with him :) Drinks were refilled often. Lovely view of golf course and it was a SPECTACULAR day! A perfect 75 degrees... not too hot, not too cold. Toward the end of our meal a gentleman lit up a cigarillo and sat where he smoked us out, so we were glad to get out of there. After reading other reviews I was unsure if we should check it out. Thankfully we did. The wait staff is friendly and good. They kept my diet coke full, which is my criteria for attentive service. The Country Estates just recently opened up the Oaks Grille after having some difficulties getting people to visit the Country Club restaurant. I came here a few times with my parents as a kid, but we opted not to return after a horrible bout with food poisoning from a hot dog I ate there. The place is essentially the same thing now, but with a few minor decorating changes. Old folks, this is the place for you! The pastel wallpaper and 90's southwestern looking paintings, mixed in with some San Diego sports memorabilia make it look like the people who revamped this place had a hard time figuring out what kind of demographic they wanted to attract. But rest assured that if you head over to the Oaks Grille, you'd think that the early bird special was going on all day. We came here around 8:00 - all old people. Once again we came a little later - still all old people! Now I have nothing against the oldies, I'm just saying that they seem to populate this restaurant quite frequently. The food is pretty good, especially given that this is the only restaurant around and when you're starving for food prepared by another person, it's great! I had the spaghetti and meatballs - daring, I know. My friend's dad loves to eat the fish and chips, which he swears by. Overall, not a bad dining experience. When I want another meal prepared by someone else for a decent price without having to travel far, I'll be back. Oh, even better, they have live bands in the bar, although the last time we went it the bassist looked like a drunk street walker with bad hair. Eh, entertaining, to say the least. read more

Food/ chefs/ cooks/ would've gotten 5 stars but I have to rate my overall experience with the restaurant. Food was soOo delicious and thank you to the COOKS/ CHEFS/BACK HOUSE EMPLOYEES for making my food forget about the young lady who took my order who seemed irritable with me ordering my food and repeats my order with an attitude. Also responds to my thank you's with a grunt and tsk' then hangs up with no "oh your welcome" or "ok we'll give you a call when your order is ready" she just says ugh and mumbles something and hangs up.. U see I don't like posting anything like this with anyone who works in a restaurant because I have worked in the restaurant industry for several years and we do get our bad days but this was not once nor twice but even after our 3rd phone call conversation I thank'd her and her response was uh yea (click). I felt disturbed and her negativity rubbed off on me and question myself did I upset her? The back house of the restaurant I U!! The front house needs alot of work to be done! I was uncomfortable to even call them back to add dessert to my order. Then when they messed up on my order and gave 8oz steak when we paid for a 14oz steak... I dreaded calling them back and didnt care for the money I lost just to not deal with that.... but thanks to the older lady who picked up she too doesnt know how to say your welcome but she did redo the order and thans to the "cook" who was almost done closing up... he fired up the grill to do the 14oz steak!! THANKS I added a star to that last minute resolving the issue !! Lastly, you would think that a Golf Course Restaurant would have the best of the best customer service.. especially in San Diego. Been here a couple times so I haven't had much. The Alfredo fettuccine was bland. no salt can barely taste the cheeses and the chicken that you can add was very chewy. The sweet chili chicken wings were good. nice flavor, not too sweet nor spicy. loved it. one waitress on the left side of the restaurant was very rude and seemed very impatient when getting your orders down. she was the only waitress there that took orders and never checked up on anyone. I decided to move to the right side and it was much more better. Tv's everywhere, nicer waitresses and our food came much quicker. Definitely would come back to try the pizzas and Hamburgers:) But i am never going back to the left side. read more

My husband and I visited this restaurant while in town on vacation. LOVED the Apple Berry and Quinoa salads (with Shrimp and Blackened Salmon). The double chocolate cake was the best I've had in quite awhile. The staff is very attentive; service is prompt and friendly. Highly recommend - excellent value. I must say I will give them a five star, it could of been a one star but they took care of the situation and I and others left happy. On Tuesday nights they have a saxophone player there, I will say he has talent in fact he is a great saxophone player. When I arrived to the Par Lounge, I had some family guest that arrived from Texas and we went to the Par Lounge because it was Tuesday Night and I knew the saxophone player would be there. He was there playing for awhile, when I stepped out of the room for a moment and returned to the table he was packing the saxophone up and I asked the sax player why? His comment I'm not sure they just asked me to stop playing for the night, then I asked an employee why? It was because it was too loud for the receptionist. I was furious too loud! What about the rock bands that play on Friday and Saturday night, oh and did I mention it was a full house on a Tuesday night about 6:30 pm, I think he brings in the crowd too. It is very easy to find a rock band just about any where you go that offers live music has rock bands but to find a good Sax Player- very hard to do and I believe you have him as an employee too. Keep a good thing going let him play the sax all night long... My comment to the person that said it is too loud! they have headphones that help drown out background noise... I suggest you get a pair if you cannot handle the saxophone. read more

The food is pretty good. For dinner I love the fish tacos and the chicken marsala. I also like the sandwiches for lunch. The breakfast is all pretty yummy. the pancakes are so fluffy, my daughter always gets those and it is a lot for a kid plate. But i mostly love the two mimosas that come with the breakfast order, or you can get bottomless for $3. Kids get some sort of page to color on and high chairs are available. Pretty view from the window seats. I only take away one star because of the cleanliness. It's not horrible but a few times it's been pretty messy, especially the floor. At breakfast, there was an asparagus on the floor under our table so I know that wasn't from that morning. The servers, hostesses, and bus boys are all really nice and attentive, for the most part. read more

Was excited to go to breakfast this morning with my family to celebrate my husband's birthday! Unfortunately, the waitress was inattentive and unfriendly! Disappointed because we could've picked any other restaurant in Ramona, however, since we are homeowners we wanted to support our restaurant. Went here tonight and was very disappointed both by my food and by our service. I ordered a salad which I've had before here but tonight there was something "off" tasting in it. After waiting for at least 8 minutes for the server to come back and check on us, I asked for more dressing hoping that the salad was just severely under dressed. After walking around and checking on her other tables twice, bringing out food for one, bringing the check out to another, remembering that she forgot to get a beer for someone at my table, walked by again (another 5 minutes went by) then she finally remembered that I asked for something because she saw me sitting there with a full salad in front of me while everyone else was almost done. I added the dressing to my salad hoping to eat it but it was painfully clear that it was the dressing that was unbalanced. The mixture of vinegar to oil was way off and there was no flavor to it at all, unless you count bitter as a flavor. I've had this salad before here, it is really good usually, but today it was terrible and the servers lack of an attempt to find some solution for me made this just about the last straw here. Even the manager came over to our table, grabbed some of the plates and asked "How was everything?" and I said Well, the salad is... she walked away. Yes, the manager on shift wasn't really asking about our dining experience, she was just making her rounds as if she was checking it off her to do list, not trying to connect with her customers. So when the server dropped our check and asked if I wanted a box I told her that the salad didn't taste good and that the dressing is off she didn't show any concern that I was a very dissatisfied customer but did tell me "we've had other people have this salad today and they loved it".. so is that a dig that there is something wrong with me?? After she brought us our change she informed me that the chef tasted the dressing and he said it was very good I figured that she didn't really care what my opinion was and didn't care how my experience went at her restaurant. So all in all, it will take me a very long time to trust that I can get customer service I deserve from this place. Besides my experience the other guests at my table (we were a 4 top) had their own issues with the service... the restaurant wasn't busy but our server was just not on top of anything tonight. missing refills, not pre-bussing the table so we had plates everywhere, not asking how our food was... This place has so much potential to be a great place but the mediocre food and poor service from most (not all) the servers just establishes this as one of the worst places to dine in Ramona. read more

Being new to Ramona, we heard this was the place to be on the weekends for drinks and live music. We decided to try it out this past weekend, and were very impressed. We arrived at prime time, and there wasn't a seat to be found. 2 different people offered up their seat to my g-friend, which in itself is unheard of. While searching for a seat, Sierra stopped by and got our drink orders. She then set us up with a seat outside next to the heaters and kept an eye out for an open table. Once a table became available she moved us inside and continued with excellent service. We just had drinks and appetizers, but everything was great, and Sierra was a fantastic server. This place is Hit or Miss, but unfortunately more miss than hit. We use to eat here 4-5 times per week but in the past 6 months or so we only visit when its convenient (about once every 2 weeks). Service is terrible in the Par Lounge unless you get London, Sierra or Lorie as your server. The rest of the staff is there to either socialize with each other or just hide out. Case in point, we were there last night for a quick bite and it took 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and take our drink order. Now for the food, this is a real crap shoot. You can get a few decent items which we tend to stick to but the specials are always risky and typically overpriced. If you want a decent club sandwich or appetizer then you will be safe. They use to have half price appetizers for happy hour but now that is not the case. If you decide to stop in to eat don't be surprised if your hot food is cold and your cold food is room temperature as it takes on average 45 minutes to an hour to get your dinner order. read more

Bad service and food. First off, they didn't have our reservation listed and this is the third time this has happened. The hostess even said this is an ongoing problem. The orange juice was room temperature. They didn't offer the champagne that is supposed to go with Sunday brunch. The bacon was flavorless. My mom's oatmeal came with no toppings or milk. She didn't have a spoon to eat it with. We had to wait a while for the other items and the waitress finally brought the milk in a tiny plastic cup, not enough for the cereal. The food wasn't hot. I've played golf here many times. it's a fun, easy, and beautiful course. And this place does it no justice. The only reason I gave it 2 stars over one, it that when I would go there it wouldn't be very busy, so their service wasn't that bad. Other than the breakfast, the food is to expensive for the quality. I'm one of the locals and I don't golf but if I could afford it I'd be at "the Grille" every day. The remodel of the lounge was well done and I haven't had a bad meal in months. Remember this is a restaurant owned by a home owners association on a golf course. The kitchen is compact and though wait times seem long when the place is packed the staff is pretty efficient. The serving areas inside and on the deck are smoke free...the cigar smokers can use the catwalk area overlooking the green. You won't find that food as art stuff arriving on your plate here but I find the meals and service excellent. read more
