We came here after our mini vacay from Crestline. It's the best of the mountains: cozy, friendly, warm, and delicious. They were accommodating to our daughter in wheelchair. The homemade pancake syrups were a treat. We actually asked to take some home for our leftovers pancakes to go. Check this place out when you are by Crestline. read more

Food was a slight twist on what you'd expect at a diner. Tater tots with cheese and green onions (I had them hold the bacon) the eggs were fresh and great tasting. The waffle was PERFECT! Friendly staff and once we ordered food it came very quickly. I had a great turkey melt. My spouse had the veggie sub which was so so. Cute place. Music and decorations fit the diner vibe. It does need a good scrub and some repairs and clean carpets. Chairs a little sticky. Nice to have another option in the mountains. Parked across the street and waited about 5 minutes for table. Took a risk with the corn bites snack and was wowed by the presentation of little fritter-like corn morsels with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a warm honey dip! Yum!! I ordered a roast beef and Muenster melt special of the day and I was surprised by the layers of flavor this sandwich had. It tasted like an actual ROAST had been thickly sliced for my sandwich!!! This diner is cute. My friend and I sat outside on the deck and it was a pleasant dining experience. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. This small restaurant in the Valley of Enchantment area of Crestline has now been reborn and is in in the hands of one of Crestline's well known and beloved waitresses who has now taken the jump into restaurant ownership. She has put her many years of experience into very good use. This is a small building with very limited parking out front, but there is plenty more space across the street just to the west of the post office. Once inside, you will see historic and retro decor fitting of the mountain location. The service is as good and friendly as one could want. The food at this time is standard diner fare, but cooked to perfection with good quality ingredients. At this very early stage, it is only open for breakfast and lunch, but being open until 8 PM will be coming in the future. Also at this time, payment is cash only, but that should be ending soon once the payment machine is approved and delivered. There are a lot of choices in the San Bernardino Mountains for diner-style fare. Even though a bit out of the way, Heart Rock Diner has already jumped to the top of my list here in Crestline. read more

If you haven't visited the Heart Rock Diner. Please do! We are going weekly, the sandwiches are the best I've had. The beef and pastrami are high quality, thinly shaved deli meats. I'm always hesitant to try those types because of fatty content, but this is great quality deli meats with no fat strings. The club sandwich was great too! The breakfasts are delicious and the prices are very affordable, especially for today's market. Such a great place! They do it right! read more

They have only been open for 5 months, but they are on their game! Bree is amazing! So friendly & welcoming! We've been coming up to the mountains for years and Villager Coffee Shop in Blue Jay was always our go to spot for breakfast. We were surprised to see that they had closed. But we were pleased to find Heart Rock Diner. We sat on the outside patio with our large dog. It was very comfortable. The inside looked great too. A true diner with 60's music playing. The food was fresh & delicious. Very much looking forward to going back for a chocolate malt, a piece of homemade pie, or another satisfying meal. read more

This facility has gone through many owners with many plants on what a Cafe is. Most were just average some bad. Now I think it has the right person who understands what a great cafe is all about! Brie has been working and managing cafes around the area for years. She knows how to make you feel like family. The interior has been scrubbed spotless clean, there are pictures of the town from many decades, and of course there is the food! The food is good, no great ! Good portions well cooked and at a reasonable price! Brie is the classic dinner Hostess who calls you hun or remembers your name! This place is fantastic! They just recently opened and are already doing great. The country fried steak and eggs were delicious, and the French toast--with bananas on top--was amazing. They'll be adding seasonal syrups soon, which I can't wait to try. The owner is always checking in, asking what can be improved, and takes feedback really well. There's always some classic oldies playing softly in the background, giving it a nice nostalgic feel. The decorations are awesome, and the lighting is just perfect--easy on the eyes and cozy. A local place with great food and without the "tourist" prices of so many mountain eateries! Heart Rock Diner is tucked away in Crestline's Valley of Enchantment and is small, but it's definitely worth it for the standard breakfast and lunch offerings, as well as for a few dishes with a twist. To my knowledge, they are the only place on the mountain serving tater tots, both as a plain side and "loaded" (although I'm pretty sure other restaurants will soon follow). The proprietor is high-energy and friendly, with many of the customers having followed her through many years of her local restaurant career, but for mountain visitors there is a cheerfulness and warmth that is so often lacking from such places. Combine the friendliness and tasty, high-quality food, and you've got a winner! read more

The shop is located in a fairly busy strip mall with lots of different cultural food options. It's a small mom and pop shop, a little too cluttery for my liking, but I think that's just the charm of it. They have a simple menu and a selection of Vietnamese foods/drinks, not just baguettes. Upon ordering, the lady stated that everything is made to order and that placing an order over the phone would be best. I left spending $50 on two banh mi baguettes and three orders of spring rolls. I was quite shocked at how fast that added up. I was even more shocked once I received my order! Spring rolls: Pork: decent flavor, moist and tasteful. Shrimp: literally just ONE shrimp (they halved them) in the spring roll. Beef: more like beef jerky. The meat was so dry and tough. The sauce for the spring rolls had some flavor but not as much as I would like. Express special baguette: Bread: was good, crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, not the kind of bread that's flaky, leave too much crumbs or cuts the roof of your mouth. Filling: pate on the bread, with a few slices of cold cut Vietnamese meats and a sprinkle of veggies. The baguette, along with the spring rolls were definitely overpriced. It looks like everything was just sprinkled on top. There were a lot of lettuce in the spring rolls, but even that wasn't fresh. For the price of the baguette, we could have at least gotten more veggies such as the pickled carrots/cucumbers/cilantro. For the quality and portions of the food, I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars less. But for the amount they were charging, I expected a little bit more. Overall, wasn't impressed with this place.

They had all of those. It was the perfect stop. There was some sort of street fair going on, so we grabbed our food and walked around the little town. Service was good. The restaurant isn't very big. They sure do whip up some good grub though! I can see why they have good reviews. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the mountain. Next time I go up, I will come back here.

After doing the Heart Rock hike, we stopped by Heart Rock Diner for lunch and were blown away! Everything was absolutely amazing, from the food to the friendly service and cozy mountain-town vibe. We were so impressed that we came back the next morning for breakfast, and it did not disappoint. This place is an absolute must-stop if you're in the Crestline area.
