Homemade Meatloaf with watery mashed potatoes
    Brigette G.

Came here for breakfast on Memorial Day weekend, got there early and good thing because there was a long wait after we sat down. It's a cute small cafe and very family friendly. Service was a little slow and for being so packed there wasn't many servers. Coffee tasted very watery and our Food did take a while which is the reason I knocked off a star. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was delicious! It came with a huge pancake and that was also delicious and so good! My hubby ordered the meatloaf which he said was ok but the mash potatoes were inedible. They tasted and looked like they were powdered from a box. Our friends had the chicken steak and regular breakfast and they really enjoyed their meal too. Good place for breakfast.

Came here for breakfast one morning while visiting Big Bear Lake and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It's a little distance from the main strip and it has a decent size parking lot. Kate was our waitress and she was a joy to deal with. Very helpful and in addition to taking our order, she gave us some visitor recommendations for our weekend. I was so impressed with the food and menu. Very unique items on the menu and reasonably priced for the large portion size that they give you. I had the Cordon Bleu crepes and my friend had the Santa Fe skillet. Both were delicious. We'll definitely come back here on our next visit.

The food was excellent! Huge portions at a great price. The coffee left a little to be desired. Fast and friendly service by Rosy ( I hope I spelled that correctly). Would definitely return!

Breakfast at Country Kitchen was in full swing when we arrived -- the kind of morning bustle where coffee cups clink, servers move at a near-balletic pace, and the scent of bacon does most of the marketing. Sad to see its doors have closed permanently. THE FOOD. - Bacon Avocado Ranch Omelette. A generous fold of eggs packed with applewood-smoked bacon and Swiss, brightened by fresh slices of avocado and capped with a drizzle of house-made ranch. Indulgent, yes -- but with just enough freshness to keep it honest. - Farm Skillet. A hearty plate designed to silence even the loudest of appetites: two eggs any style perched over a bed of seasoned hash browns, mingling with chopped sausage, onion, and green peppers. Rustic, filling, and satisfying. THE DRINK. - Coffee. Bold and much needed after a night of drinking. THE PARKING. The restaurant offered a generous surface lot that stretched out behind the building. Free, easy, and refreshingly unremarkable.

We went today, a Tuesday and found parking right away and a seat right away. Within 30 minutes it was packed and people waiting outside. They are very organized as far as wiring your name down and getting people seated in the order they arrived. It's very quirky inside, stickers and dollar bills everywhere. Plus a lot of military patches and stickers. I appreciate that. Music was loud but not too loud. Collective soul was playing when we walked in and eventually a John Anderson song played. I appreciate the mix. Service was quick and friendly, there was a vibe and every one seemed to work in sync very well. Nice. Wifey got the Spinach, ham, cheese and onion 3 egg omelette. Hash browns. Sourdough toast. I got the Burger, 3 eggs sunny side up and Hash browns. Sourdough toast. It had to be a 1/2 pound burger easily. Delicious. I appreciate a place that gives you more butter than you need for your toast. Overall what a great place and tons of food. No, seriously......... tons of food. Our latest visit yesterday was still overall a very positive experience. Much to our delight, their buckwheat pancakes are still the best pancakes EVER (imho). These pancakes are the reason why we come to Teddy Bear every time. Something about the flavor and texture just makes them stand out. In fact, we no longer order pancakes anywhere else. Corn beef hash and pastrami hash are still so very flavorful and satisfying. The cinnamon cornbread is still good. Coffee might seem a little weak for some (like my husband) but good enough for me. Our server was super busy so service was understandably a tad slow but decidedly adequate.

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and we were seated right away! Cons: We were not expecting this place to be cash only! The chairs were uncomfortable and the bathrooms are not nice. Their Ceaser salad had way too much dressing to the point where it was soggy! Overall it was an alright place for our weekend getaway lunch. But we would not eat here again.

I ordered a Nutella espresso martini mocktail and my man ordered an allagash beer (not on the menu, but on tap) - NEW beer for them, which was a great bonus! There were several people working as wait staff and one bartender, who was the manager that day onsite. Seemed like he was making tons of drinks for several tables - because, sitting at the bar right in front of him- took maybe 5+ minutes to even acknowledge that we were sitting in front of him in the middle of the bar- then it took 15 + minutes to get the two drinks and an order of fries. That was the only downpoint- but everything else was fine. Fries were great with a nice homemade ranch dressing. My mocktail martini was good - quite a lot of foam on top- but pretty and tasted kinda like a fancy chocolate milk. I never usually like wasting money on a mocktail $8 for it- but was yummie. Might come back next time and try some of the food. Great ambience - clean and nice location and size - especially compared to some other places in the village.
