Country kitchen is a place that didn't pop up on my search bar. I had to scroll for a little bit because it is about a mile down the road from all of the typical restaurants. The food was very good, numbers of little changes and things, and the waiter was incredibly accommodating and nice It feels good to actually be a customer and actually get served instead of people that pretend that they are doing Anton a favor by letting me eat it. I prefer this place over grizzly Manor and the munchies place in town. They have my recommendation. read more

Came here for the first time and wish we had stopped by here sooner. Unlike the Grizzly Manor cafe, the atmosphere is much more homely/cozy and not as loud. Really great food, amazing service (thanks Eman) and clearly a locals hangout which is nice to see. Parking lot was full when we got here but we didn't have to wait. Plenty of seating. Pancakes and biscuits + gravy were a hit. We like everything we had in our group of four. Highly recommend and also love that this is away from the busy village. read more

Came here for breakfast on Memorial Day weekend, got there early and good thing because there was a long wait after we sat down. It's a cute small cafe and very family friendly. Service was a little slow and for being so packed there wasn't many servers. Coffee tasted very watery and our Food did take a while which is the reason I knocked off a star. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was delicious! It came with a huge pancake and that was also delicious and so good! My hubby ordered the meatloaf which he said was ok but the mash potatoes were inedible. They tasted and looked like they were powdered from a box. Came here for breakfast one morning while visiting Big Bear Lake and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It's a little distance from the main strip and it has a decent size parking lot. Kate was our waitress and she was a joy to deal with. Very helpful and in addition to taking our order, she gave us some visitor recommendations for our weekend. I was so impressed with the food and menu. Very unique items on the menu and reasonably priced for the large portion size that they give you. I had the Cordon Bleu crepes and my friend had the Santa Fe skillet. Both were delicious. We'll definitely come back here on our next visit. read more

Food looks very presentable. The restaurant is well maintained and the staff were very kind. The food just didn't taste good. The hash browns were cold and the sausages had an unfamiliar sausage taste. I'm someone that can pick up on weird smells and this place had a very weird old smell. It's smelled like dirty clothes and cigarettes. I just couldn't get over that smell. I honestly should have left. It impacted our meal. It's a chain restaurant and not particularly like that either. We came here this morning for breakfast. Rosie was our waitress, she did a fantastic job. We had steak, eggs and pancakes, it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. We got the eggs over easy, it was not overly runny and the yoke was just runny enough to soak your bread into. The pancakes were big and fluffy enough for 4 people. Rosie's service was excellent. My fiance and I were looking for a brunch place before we leave Big Bear after a long yet fun weekend. We found this place online and look like a good old fashioned diner, it wasn't exactly what we expected, but it did have all of the traditional basic foods that you would find at a Denny's or franchise diner. I would say their quality is a tad bit better than denny's, but not that hole in the wall authentic tasty cozy hearty breakfast we were expecting. Overall I did enjoy their food, I definitely would recommend this place for brunch. They don't advertise it well online, but it is Cash only! They do have an ATM located inside. read more

Tater Tots! Done! Most restaurants do not offer tater tots. Country Kitchen offers both tater tots and hash browns. We need to return to try other menu items. They look so good. Fluffy pancakes. Extremely fresh fruit, strawberries especially. Something about the chefs in Big Bear is amazing. Eggs over hard is actually really difficult to accomplish without making them stiff and crispy. This is the second time I have gone out for breakfast in Big Bear and had perfect eggs over hard. And you know that eggs over easy that creates an egg white shell after sucking out the egg yolk is awesome. While everything else was good, crispy chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken, I tend to focus on eggs. To us, preparing eggs perfectly is the mark for a great place to eat. It was nice and cozy. The decor was so cute. We passed Country Kitchen the day before and saw quite a few people waiting. We know why. And again, our sever was non-stop. I love that about the people in Big Bear. Next time, we do lunch/linner. read more
