    Such a great place. We went on Friday for fish and chips. It was Devine! A great selection of beer, wine, cocktails and zero alcohol cocktails. Fish was perfectly fried. Service was fantastic. Super friendly and welcoming. The building was beautiful and historic. Lunch was busy! Come early and beat the line!

    Great tea during the previous visit. This time we ate a really early "dinner". We had 2 appetizers, that were $3 off during HH, plus a Coconut-Lime Curry dinner that we shared. All were excellent, as was the service. We used to come here many years ago when it was the Blethering Place but were happy to find that this incarnation is good as well.

    High Tea

    We came for high tea at what was once The Blethering Place, unfortunately it's under new ownership. As a result, I can't fault it for its quality of high tea based on the restaurant and grill, that it now is. Nothing tasted like homemade so it wasn't what we expected. So don't go solely for this high tea eat something else maybe they're better at it.

    I should have listened to myself when I said I wouldn't go back there the last time I went. I find they have a good selection on the menu but I always end up somewhat disappointed with the food. I had a half a sandwich with fries. They put a big old pickle slice on it. Looked nice but it left the sandwich all wet. My husband enjoyed his mango salad. The China tea cups are a nice touch.

    The food is normal. Service is good , nice ambiance. The scone is delicious. Others is just average. It's a good breakfast handout for family.

    Cream tea

    Good, reasonably priced Afternoon Tea. I had the light cream tea with a pot of Earl Grey and a huge berry scone. The dining room is traditional, with wood paneling and high back chairs. The area has nice shops and parks for burning off the teatime calories }}

Monday morning arrived at 8:15 and were seated immediately (last 2-top). Service is great! Super friendly staff and some of them are a little cheeky! Food is great. Lattes are perfection and in really cute mugs. Each order comes with a lot of food! The avocado toast was huge. Eggs and protein come with a generous helping of potatoes and 2 slices of toast. Every single dish was prepared to perfection, offering robust flavors and great presentation. Service: 3/5 While our actual floor server was an absolute delight, the host seating process created an unnecessary and frustrating headache. As a party of four, we were initially directed to a tiny table meant for just two guests--a completely impossible fit. We had to ask our server to help combine tables, only to learn she needed explicit host approval first . The servers themselves are great, but the front-of-house organization and communication definitely need some improvement. Ambiance (5/5): Loved the overall atmosphere and energy of the cafe.

    A solid spot with its own distinct vibe and an impressively long menu…read more Great for groups since there's something for everyone, and the portions are generous. Almost too much for one person. One thing that stood out: unlike most diners that only offer one brewed coffee option, this place lets you choose between regular and dark roast. Small detail, but appreciated. I went on a weekday morning, so there was no wait, but the space isn't very large, so I'd recommend making a reservation during peak hours. Staff were friendly overall, and the atmosphere is worth experiencing. That said, while the food was consistently solid, it wasn't particularly memorable. I ordered the Valentino, smoked salmon and poached egg on an English muffin with avocado, but the avocado was completely unripe, which brought down both the texture and the flavor. With a menu this wide, most dishes land in the "good" rather than "great" range, and execution details like that make a difference. If you're going for variety and the overall experience, you'll be satisfied, but if you're hoping for something exceptional, it may feel a bit underwhelming. Bottom line: a reliable brunch option for groups, as long as you're not setting the bar too high on the food itself.

It was delicious and beautiful. A lot of love and effort is put into this. Sylvia's scones are phenomenal. If she opened up a bakery I would buy all her scones and loaves. The bathroom is a nice size with a big tub. So why the three stars? There is a radiator in the room but ours didn't work well and would heat up and did not stay hot. We were cold. If you are on the first floor please note that sound travels. you can really hear any movement above you and you can hear conversations very well outside your room which didn't make me feel particularly comfortable since I'm sure even just is talking normally can be heard by others as well. Didn't feel amazing from a privacy perspective. When you book it says there is daily housekeeping. There's no daily housekeeping. We were asked if anything was missing from our room by the breakfast server but nothing else. If you're expecting your trash to be emptied or bed to be made that did not happen our whole stay. Location: not really walkable to the downtown area or most things in Victoria. A couple other small things that I wouldn't even mention if the above two were no issue: The bed was okay although not super comfortable in my opinion. The outlets are really inconvenient and there aren't many. They mention there is tea, hot chocolate, and coffee. There's no hot chocolate and no creamer in your room if you want some later. I do think this place could be good for others but it was not the right fit for us. For a bed and breakfast the room just wasn't super comfortable for us to want to spend time there.

Sylvia is a gracious experienced host with great recommendations for dinner spots. We tried both Pennyfarthing and Pagliacci and were happy with the both choices. Pagliacci had a good live band. And to top it off a small herd of deer have made the neighborhood their home. It all added up to a great stay. We'll book Fairholme again for sure.
