I was waiting for the bus to go to Longmont for brunch but I was ravenous and without my bag of almonds or my go to apple to keep hunger at bay. I google mapped closest restaurant and boom! Old oak coffee house! It's scrumptious and quaint and it's nice to support locals. I don't have a picture of the Reuben on pumpernickel because I inhaled it.I don't have a picture of the three vegan energy balls either. Insert vacuum suction sound again. Assistant Manager Noah and counter gal Elle are awesome. They're hospitality plus and they keep the line moving. Great coffee shop in Niwot! There is a small but good selection of pastries and the drinks are good. The interior is spacious and the outdoor patio is nice as well. Such a cute place and great ambiance. I thought it was weird that they didn't call out the drinks so I would've been sitting at my table without a drink for a while but besides that no complaints. read more

Road detours took me through Niwot today. I already know the town is a hidden treasure. Did a quick search for coffe and a bite to eat. This quaint place appeared and looked like the type of place I was looking for. Perfect morning outdoor patio with fresh perennials all around Beautiful. Had a bowl of square oatmeal.. very tasty. A solid bistro/coffee addition to Niwot. Extremely pleasant interior, small but cozy with some nice seating options. Inside has tables very close together but I love that in the exterior shared hallway (with other businesses) there is additional seating for a quieter hang out. They also have a nice patio for good weather days. They have the usual selection of coffees and teas, but their in-store made pastries and cookies are SUPER TASTY. I can always count on their sweet treats for a unique experience. Its so rare to find a coffee place in Niwot and Longmont that offers their own made pastries. I sincerely have enjoyed all of their treats. I recommend them a lot, they have truly matured since they opened a few years ago and have a solid flow to their business now. My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a Friday afternoon and really enjoyed it. We got the egg bacon cheese on english muffin and it was yummy. We also enjoyed looking at the art and mugs for sale. There was a sign about spaghetti Saturday and I was bummed to miss that. I saw lotsa other food I'd love to try like mini quiches or a panini. Customer service was nice and friendly. read more

Went here to work on my computer and the internet worked for only two people. I told Morgan that myself and another patron were having issues connecting. I asked for my money back because the internet was down and Morgan was unwilling to do so. I'm unsatisfied with this lack of service at an establishment meant to do just that. I won't be back. Two weeks before this I went here to work on my computer. After 20 minutes the guy that owns the antique shop demanded that I move my car for his evening vendor setup for the street band playing that night. It was 9:30 am in the morning. The lack of signs in the area indicated that I was safe to park where I was at. This establishment allows other store owners to harass you here. This isn't a good place to have a meeting or to work. Completely disgusted. read more

Super cute place. I've been here before but think it was under a different name? Perhaps not. Came in to try the yumminess of the Tip Top Savory Pies after reading about them in the Niwot paper. The staff is very friendly and quick to offer recommendations. I asked what the best selling pies were and they said the mushroom ale which was phenomenal. Although I didn't stay to eat it there they gave me easy heating instructions. The foot was a delight since I had just returned to town and had nothing in the house to cook. I came back today to finish some work before quitting time back east. Happy to see they serve wine and beer too. It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right? Hahaha... I definitely suggest you come here for a nice local atmosphere with great food and drink. read more

Coffee and baked goods are excellent! My only issue is if your gonna do a "breakfast burrito" do it right. This was probably one of the worst tasting burritos I've had in a while. First of all I ordered the veggie & egg burrito. They took a prepackaged burrito out of the fridge, microwaved it a and threw it on the grill. Ugh this thing tasted spoiled or something. I didn't really even see any veggies, a small amount of eggs and just weird taste. Very disappointed. Really wish it was a better experience!! read more

We are a comfortable, inviting coffeehouse in the middle of quaint old-town Niwot! Great coffee, pastries,hand-made scones, and delicious panini, savory pies, and even spaghetti and meatballs. Now also serving beer and wine!

History

Established in 2017.

The Old Oak is a new family-owned business - we are teachers-turned-coffeehouse-owners who are following a dream to create a inviting, comfortable, art-filled space for the community.

Meet the Business Owner: Michael and Patty T.

The Old Oak Coffeehouse was opened in July of 2017, by Boulder locals Michael Tomich and Patty Machen. They wanted to create something that would bring to the community what they loved about coffee shops: a warm, inviting space in which to slow down, gather, talk, be surrounded by art, music, good coffee and simple but delicious food. They found the opportunity to do that in the lovely and quaint old town of Niwot, Colorado, and decided to make a u-turn from their long-time careers as teachers (well, Patty is still teaching) and dive into the creation of this shop! From our house-made baked goods, panini sandwiches, specialty coffee drinks, and a great staff, to our Music and Spaghetti Saturdays (live music and Michael's famous spaghetti), something very unique and special has been created. Come in and see us!
