I don't usually eat Armenian food, but we tried a few of their classic dishes this time and each one was unique and surprisingly tasty. The restaurant is very clean with a cozy, family-style atmosphere. The gentleman who helped us order took the time to explain each recommended dish in detail, which made the experience even better. Overall, such a great first impression. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!

What a gem of a place Old Sasoon was! Many moons ago I had the pleasure of helping someone open an Armenian cafe back home. So as soon as I saw the word Sasoon, I had to barrel towards the shop and try not to buy everything on the menu. I loved everything I got to take home today. The lahmajoun wraps, the khachapuri, the baked soujouk pies. My oh my. Every single items were just divine. It made my day. The store has several street parking spots available right in front of the store and in the surrounding areas. There's also plenty of seatings available inside and outside. Many opted to eat outside as it was a nice day. Bathroom is gender neutral and very clean too. So if anyone is wanting some savory breakfast/ early lunch as many related stores are closed Tuesday or doesn't reopen until 1100, this is the place to go!

LOVED. Ambiance is very local spot vibes and casual. There likely will be a small wait but service is fast and efficient. Got the khachapuri with soujouk. Omgggggg this is a dish I want to eat again and again. The cheesiness. The egg. The deliciously spiced meat. The pillowy bread. Perfection. Can't wait to come back and try literally everything else.

I love support local and specialty food. I was hungry but not that hungry...you know that's feeling, you want something hearty but not heavy. Found this Mediterranean/Georgian style food. I ordered ahead and got the mushroom turn over. It was just enough . Warm and fluffy turnover. Little spice, little kick to it but not overpowering. I took it to go. But the restaurant is very nice and clean. They are James Beard award winner for best baker. The owner was there and she was nice.

Coming out of the woodwork to give some credit to a local favorite of many. I wish it didn't take me so long to finally think of it for breakfast on a beautiful, sunny, Saturday morning. The two things we ordered were their khachapuri with chorizo and shakshuka. Both of which were the perfect amount of comfort in comfort foods. Shakshukas have always been a favorite of mine and the one here was a good tomato blend with three eggs. As for their famous khachapuri-- it was delicious, savory, filling. We were already thinking of what topping combinations we would want on our next visit. The table was also given a solid set extra wrap, onions, mint and tomato. Didn't even get to the flatbreads, beorags, or baklavas yet because after this morning's stroll over, we hope to make more visits to try more menu items as we go. Thank you Old Sasoon for existing. See you again real soon!

I have been coming to this bakery for well over a decade. It is such a classic in the East Pasadena area. Recently I drove by and was reminded that it was time to try it again. I noticed the place was full of regulars and had a very vibrant energy. The house coffee they serve is delicious and piping hot. They were out of a couple of things I wanted but some of the fellow customers suggested their favorites and I ended up with a delicious mix of items. I always get some lahna June. I also picked up the stuffed cheese and nasturma bread and stuffed mushroom pastry. I loved how it was full of mushrooms with no filler. I didn't expect it to have the spicy kick that it did. Some red peppers were added in but they were not too spicy in my opinion. I was so happy they had the jingalov hats, flatbread stuffed with a mixture of greens and herbs. I find this item so clean and refreshing. I often go pick them up in Glendale but it's nice to have them in Pasadena as well. Everything heated up wonderfully in the air fryer which warmed it through and kept all the crispy edges.

Absolutely wonderful bakery that is great for breakfast or brunch. The food is fresh, authentic, and tastes wonderful. The star of the show is definitely the khachapuri, cooked to perfection and super satisfying. The owners are so nice and treat you like family. The interior is so clean and cozy.

The Standout: Basturma and the Soujouk Turnover. Absolutely my favorite item. The Khachapuri was good, don't get me wrong, but it was hard shove in mouth and I am Not a fan of runny eggs. But the Turnover $4, what a tasty treat that is grab and go! What a delicious pocket of cheese and protein goodness. Be warned that the Soujouk can squirt oil! But dayum it was worth every bite! Warm it up for 10 seconds and it will legit blow your mind!

Three blocks from my house--why don't I go here more!!! I had a lovely lunch at their sidewalk tables, a foul (fava beans) wrap. It took a minute to be ready because they make everything fresh!! My friend got the khachapuri which looked amazing!! I will get that next time. So many great dishes to choose from and I love supporting our community so I'll be back!!

Food is fresh and absolutely terrific! A solid variety of options. These 3 are my favorite options!

Delicious food and the very kind owner took great care of us, even giving us an extra piece of baklava for free! Everything is handmade and fresh and the care really shows. Great place.

The quality of the ingredients and attention to detail are apparent in every bite and every sip. It is well worth the wait you'll most likely encounter. That being said, I do believe the quality is one of the best, so worth it if you happen to be in the area and don't mind a bit of a wait. You can see them making the baked goods in the store and the dough is a work of art. There seems to always be some kind of wait and the outside wait is a tad brutal, but there are a bunch of umbrellas you can borrow from the inside, which is a nice gesture from this place. Onto the goods - the chocolate bars are quite steep. Two of these plus a matcha latte and a single chocolate croissant was around $47, so keep that in mind before you stack too much in your cart. The matcha latte was passable in my opinion as well, since the matcha doesn't stand out. A lot of oat milk was used in mine, which diluted most of the matcha. I guess stick to what they are good at. The standout of course is the chocolate croissant. It's quite flaky. Where the surprise comes in is that there seems to be a custard layer inside, along with melted chocolate around the outer parts of the croissant. It's a unique experience and recommend trying while it's hot.

We were done about an hour before our reservation time. We hoped to be accommodated earlier but saw the long line and crowd waiting as we drove by. We decided to run a couple small errands instead. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation. It was still busy, but there were not as many people waiting. The hostess was so warm and welcoming. She let us know that the customers at our designated table were almost done and that they will have it ready in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, those customers decided to linger much longer. Thirty minutes later, they were still hanging around. We fully understood that this was not by any fault of the restaurant. We continued to wait patiently. The hostess was very apologetic and was trying to work out a solution which led to the Floor Manager (Karla) getting involved. We were eventually seated at another table, with the option to move should the other table become available. Karla then took the time to apologize for the wait and unfortunate first impression. As we got started with drinks and a pastry for the daughter, the other table opened. The hostess immediately came to move us. It all went smoothly from there. Table service was casual and attentive. We started with the Chocolate Almond Croissant and the Baguette & Bordier Butter. The daughter tried the Iced Matcha Latte. For our entrées -- Shakshuka, Patty Melt and Brioche Eggs Benedict (with salmon). I was eager to try the Potato Gravlax, but it was sold out. :( Everything was so, so delicious! Fresh and flavorful. Lovely presentations. Very good portions. As we were finishing, Karla came to our table again to express her gratitude for our patience and understanding. She gave me her business card with an offer to contact her directly should we need another reservation. On our way out, I stopped to compliment the sweet young hostess for a job well done. Wonderful experience. Beautiful decor. I would give Oh La La 10 stars if I could! We will most certainly be back!

While we missed out on the pastries, we each got to try their bread in our respective meals which were well buttered and toasted and had a nice crunchy outside and a soft chewy inside. My friend basically inhaled her croque monsieur, and I kept marveling at each element of my meal: cashew cheese with a salsa macha, a marinated wild mushroom, and an avocado for texture to put on my delicious toast. Not wanting to leave empty handed, I decided to get a few slices of cake instead. And boy am I glad I did! So far I've tried their red velvet cake, vanilla cake with strawberry frosting, and a seasonal strawberry cake. The cakes were all rich and on the denser side, and were a cross between moist and crumbly. Each cake also paired exceptionally well with the velvety thick frosting. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor.
