The Old Spaghetti Factory has yet to disappoint. On occasion before taking in an event downtown, usually at the Phoenix Theatre Co., we'll opt for a stop here. Staff and service are always friendly and attentive. The ambiance is fun and greatly varied. Every table is unique unto itself, even the ones in the middle of the space. The decor is eclectic and interesting. The trolly car in the center of the restaurant is always fun and unique as well. Portions are very generous and filling. Pasta selections are nicely varied, and you can't miss with the meatballs. We will often leave with a to-go box. The bread is fresh and warm, with a nice cup of butter. You also get a starting course of either salad or minestrone soup ( really tasty ). A nice portion of spumoni will finish off the meal, always a treat. The Old Spaghetti Factory has become a great option when we're just wondering where to eat downtown. Went here tonight here a murder mystery show with my wife and our friends to celebrate our friends birthday. Had a wonderful time, the hostesses are friendly and directed us to where we wanted go first in the bar before the show. Our bartender greeted us right away and took our drink orders , where I ordered a Moscow mule and my wife ordered an espresso martini. Both were very tasty. We talked to the bartender about the show and told us what we needed to know and where to go in the restaurant. We went to the banquet room where the murder/mystery show was at. And the performance was fun, interactive and engaging having all ages participatong. Our waitress Chloe did a fantastic job with our table getting everyones orders and accommodating any special requests. The food was great, we ordered the lasagna, chicken fettuccine and shared an order of the cheesy garlic bread with our friends. We also ordered a few drinks as well. The Old Spaghetti Factory is one of my favorite go-tos for great Italian food. We were only minutes away at The Phoenix Theatre when I noticed how close we were to this location even though I really tried to find good options on the opposite side of the light rail. Regardless I made a quick reservation and we headed over. We were sat within about 20 minutes, which I'd say is good considering how busy they were and service was still really good. The ambiance is "bring your family and we'll provide the food". One thing about me is, I will always have the mizithra pasta at OSF. This time I had it as part of the Pot Pourri, which is a mix of 4 different spaghetti sauces if you really can't decide what you want. The clam sauce and mizithra get me about 50/50 so this is a great option for me. We had super fresh complimentary bread and butter before our food came out and the starter salads were good portions. I really like this place a lot. It's one of the first places I came to when we moved here at gazillion years ago. I know it's part of a chain, but somehow it still keeps that independent feel. The one in Phoenix is in an old building, perhaps an old house?. It's got old hardwood floors and a maze of rooms all decorated with antiques and stained glass. One of the best things is the trolley car in the middle of the restaurant with seating inside. I've always wanted to sit there, but it seems like we always have a party that's too big for one of the tables in there. Another really awesome thing is the barber table in the bar. It is literally barber chairs around a sink that's been turned into a table with barber poles around it. It's pretty cool. Our server was a super polite and happy Young man. He was very accommodating. The meals are three course meals. They start with your choice of a salad or a cup of minestrone. You can upgrade to a Caesar salad, but I think the garden salad with ranch dressing is really good. Hubby had the minestrone, and as it is every time we go, it's a pretty hearty cup of soup. It is loaded with vegetables and beans and pasta. Honestly, after a cup of minestrone, I don't know how much room I have left for pasta. They also bring loaves of freshly baked bread to the table. I really like the bread there because most of the time restaurants will bring you sourdough. I don't like sourdough. But this is just a delicious white Italian bread served up with butter. I have the spaghetti with meatballs and asked to change from marinara sauce to meat sauce. I am very, very picky about pasta sauce, and I actually love their meat sauce here. The meatballs were good here too. After having a piece of bread and my salad, I ended up taking home most of my pasta. The third course is a choice of spumoni, sherbert, or vanilla ice cream. I hadn't had sherbert in years and decided to go with that and it was really good. They have a senior menu, and when I asked how old you have to be, she said it doesn't really matter. So I guess anybody can order off the senior menu. The portions are just a little bit smaller, and not everything that's available in the regular menu is available on the senior menu. It's a couple dollars cheaper, and you also get tea, coffee, or milk included with your bread, entree, super salad, and dessert. It's such a good deal! I think my meal was 1799 and it included all of that! This is a great place to celebrate a birthday or graduation. They have several separate rooms for parties as well. There's one room where you're sitting in the window of the restaurant - - I always thought that would be kind of cool to be able to sit in there. You can make reservations, and I really suggested if you're going on a weekend evening. Honestly I am so disappointed with this place. The only saving grace was our server, Hannah, who was incredibly kind and fun on such a busy night (Valentine's day). We made a reservation ahead and time and didn't get seated until 45 minutes later. Honestly, I don't even knock points off for that because I figured it would happen on a day like Valentine's, even with a reservation. I'm just really, really not a fan of the food. It was not good, and definitely was not worth the price. The chicken cubes in my dish were so hard, I felt like they were from frozen and not thawed/cooked properly. Bae also felt like his chicken in this chicken parm was from frozen. It was very tough, too. The pasta/sauce portion of both our dishes was also nothing to write home about. We felt like we could have done this quality of food at home, essentially. I only took a few bites of my plate and then asked for a box to take home. It was really not doing it for me. I miss the Chandler and Tempe locations that closed, so I jumped at a chance to drive to downtown Phoenix. We had a large group and were seated in a semi-private room. The service was great and fast. The lunch special Spicy Spaghetti Vesuvius was too spicy to enjoy with the cold spaghetti, chili paste and Tabasco is not a good mix! We came in for Valentine's Day and completely understood that it would be busy. We were patient and tried to be understanding throughout the night, but unfortunately the service left us feeling overlooked. After being seated, we waited about 15 minutes before our server greeted us. When she did, we ordered an appetizer, alcoholic drinks, and requested water and the sourdough bread that comes with the entrées. The spinach artichoke dip was about a 5/10 -- very heavy on cheese with oddly sliced white sandwich bread served alongside it. Our soup and salad course came next, and we again asked for water and sourdough bread. We finished that course, and when our entrées were brought out, we requested the water and bread for a third time. About halfway through our entrées, our server brought a fresh, hot loaf of bread to the table next to us that had just been seated. At that point, it no longer felt like a "busy night" issue -- it felt deliberate or dismissive. After noticing we were upset, she said she would bring the bread right away. The water came about five minutes later, and the bread several minutes after that. By then, we had already finished most of our meals and didn't get to enjoy it with any of the courses it was meant for. There were no apologies, and the overall experience left us feeling like we didn't matter. This was both of our first times dining here, and while we would love to give the food another try, the service honestly makes us unsure if we'll return. read more

Coming here for a bday dinner was a nice little throwback for me. The Old Spaghetti Factory has a long history here in Arizona. I grew up eating at the former location on Mill Ave in Tempe. We used to cruise Mill and then grab a bite to eat there afterwards. I still have my Italian soda glassware somewhere in my house. This iconic spaghetti spot on Central has been open since the 1970s. Unfortunately with so many new Italian restaurants opening up that take a more modern take on pasta, the food here has become average. But I still enjoy coming to the Old Spaghetti Factory because it brings back so many memories from my childhood. Eating at Old Spaghetti Factory is still a unique experience after all these years. The floor creaks as you walk across it. The décor is unique with its antique lighting and stained-glass displays. There are multiple dining rooms and private booths. But the center of attention at every Spaghetti Factory is the old-fashioned trolley car that guests can dine in. I have had the experience of dining in the car many times in the past. It is especially fun for families that have kids. The first Old Spaghetti Factory opened in 1969 in Portland by the Dussin family. Their most popular dish is the Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter. It is an old Dussin family recipe. My personal favorites over the years have been the Lasagna, Spicy Spaghetti Vesuvius and the Spaghetti with Meatballs. I recently tried the Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter for the first time with a cup of Minestrone Soup. All their entrées are three-course meals and come with fresh bread and a small cup of ice cream. You cannot go wrong with their Spumoni Ice Cream. Overall my experience at this Old Spaghetti Factory was decent. Service was a little slow the night that I came here. The food was good, but not great. Dad and I finished up at the Home and Garden show, where dad got a notification that they were doing a special where the pricing was back to the Old Prices. We got our usual but our all time favorites. The green salad with the pesto ranch, two manager's favorites, mine being Mushroom and Mizithra, and Dad's being White Clam Sauce with Mizithra. The. This place carries a bit of nostalgia for me as my family used to come here often when I was a kid. All the decor, from the fun train car seating to the stained glass windows, has stood the test of time. The servers are always so friendly and come back to check on you often. Today, we had Marcus who was an absolute joy. The food is classic, consistent, and fresh. The complimentary bread before the meal comes out piping hot every time. The salad does come heavily dressed so if you prefer lighter dressing, ask for the dressing on the side. The mushroom sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and savory with a consistency that's not too thick and not too runny. The spumoni and vanilla ice cream were served firm today, which is the absolute best! (Sometimes, they're served a bit more melted when they're busy.) And it's suuuuuper creamy! The texture is elite. The restaurant has lots of semi-private rooms for small and large parties that prefer to be in quieter areas. They also have an amazing deal called Meatball Mondays during which you can get a platter of spaghetti with marinara sauce and four meatballs, bread and butter, two soups or salads, half a decanter of house wine or two drinks like soda or coffee, and two servings of spumoni ice cream for just $25! With all the woody and rickety vibes, it made you feel like you were in an old-fashioned train station. Upon walking up to the host stand, there were several people standing around waiting, yet when we were taken back to our seats, I noticed a decent amount of empty tables. We were taken into one of the further back sections and we had a great view of a light-up snowman on a sleigh. Very quaint. Our server was super friendly. She was attentive and was always coming around and asking us if everything was to our liking, as well as refilling waters. Almost everyone in my family ordered the chicken fettuccine while my dad ordered the baked lasagna. The food had its highs and lows. The lasagna was a highlight for my dad, who gave it 4.5/5 stars. He enjoyed the flavor but felt the portion was too small for the plate and could have been more generous. On the other hand, the chicken entrée was disappointing. My brother said it tasted like a frozen meal, and I agree--the sauce lacked flavor, the broccoli was served cold, and the chicken was underseasoned, tasting mostly of salt. The dish also could have used more chicken to balance it out. To me, it basically felt like I was eating wet butter noodles. Not worth a whopping $22. The service, while better than what some other reviews suggested, was inconsistent. Our server was attentive at the start, but toward the end of our meal, drink refills became less frequent, which was a letdown. Overall, this was similar to other times I've been to other locations. I would give 0 stars if that was possible. In all honesty, I believe my family had the poorest tasting meal and worst service ever at our uncle's birthday dinner tonight. The chicken parmesan was overcooked, resulting in dry chicken. I emphasize that the chicken was dry. Notably, the dish lacked parmesan cheese. The spaghetti was overcooked, giving it an unpleasant texture similar to glue. The sauce lacked flavor due to being watered down. My husband's ravioli tasted frozen and contained minimal filling, with shells unexpectedly present. The crab was minced and had a strong fishy taste. Our server initially disputed that my brother-in-law had ordered a salad, but after we pointed out the mistake, she provided one. Our table experienced delays, with our teenage son waiting 10 minutes for his entree after everyone else had been served. Despite waiting an hour for food, we struggled to get the waitress's attention. Eventually, our son's food arrived, but it was the incorrect pasta dish. The waitress also failed to deliver ice cream to my husband and brother-in-law. Never again will we go back to the Spaghetti Factory! We come here very often, and this visit was definitely a letdown. My friend has gluten problems and a bad dairy intolerance. The dining experience was good up until the dessert. There was nothing that my friend could have and we asked if there was something else we could get a discount on to make up for the difference. I went to The Old Spaghetti Factory last night in Phoenix, Arizona. Let me say, I am impressed. And was sure hungry after getting in a car accident on my 2nd day of my trip! (I'm okay, minor accident), but ... anyways!! I went here and ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, and at first you think "oh.. thats a tiny serving" but it wasn't. It was more food than I could eat. My chicken tasted a little weird, but I think that was more me than the chicken. The server was so sweet! She constantly checked up on us and was able to get me a Cherry Sprite! Appreciate you! My friend and I stopped here for a very quick dinner before a ghost tour last night. Great energy at the bar, friendly people. A lot of people were excited about the murder mystery event which seemed like a lot of fun. The bartenders and staff were working very hard! The food was fine. The bread was great, salad cream, mushroom spaghetti average. I would suggest not arriving within an hour of the event starting because there was a lot of pressure on the bartending staff to get everyone's drinks out quickly but they definitely were working their booties off so this is definitely no reflection of them. It was pretty loud and bustling and the restaurant was pretty loud and family oriented so a lot of kids in the front area and plastic eggs strewn around from the little vending machines. Parking was very cramped and the area around the restaurant was not very safe looking so probably not a place I would necessarily go out of my way for but a lot of people certainly had great things to say! Ambiance- i liked the Ambiance of the place. Each table having its own different set up and style. Service- the server himself was awesome. Professional and lively. When we were first going to be sat( two of us) they were going to put us at, what seems to be, a time out or kids table in a bad location. We asked for a booth and the person searing us had to go ask permission. He came back and accommodated our request. Food - the Sicilian Garlic Cheese Bread was delicious. I ordered a Managers Favorite and chose Rich Meat Sauce and Mushroom Sauce. Serving size was very small. The flavor was nothing to write home about. We also ordered fettuccine Alfredo and the flavor was a little bland. Neither dish was vibrant in flavor as to be expected in such an establishment. Whoah - I haven't eaten here in like 20? years...and will not be back any time soon. This past Saturday night, we reserved a room for a party of seven people b/f the Madonna concert. We started w/ glasses of House Chianti, Pinot Noir & one friend went off grid & opted for a margarita. Drinks were fine. I wanted sausage and peppers w/ a small side of spaghetti - a traditional Italian dish I had ordered eons ago when I was here and that I also order at other Italian restaurants. But the waiter informed me they had NO peppers. AYKM? I asked if there were any veggies I could add & he told me they could either add mushrooms or broccoli. I chose mushrooms. The side salad is a sad mixture of iceberg lettuce with that packaged cut cabbage and carrot combo. They serve complimentary bread with real butter - probably the highlight of the meal. My dish came out with ONE sausage link (used to be two) and a mound of spaghetti, topped by a brownish sauce, that was not flavorful. To state the obvious, spaghetti sauce is usually bright red so I don't know if they skimp on the tomatoes or what. But it was a very unremarkable meal. I asked for freshly grated Parmesan &/or pepper and the waiter directed me to the cheese and pepper shakers on the table. Seriously? One of my friends chose the starter dish, calamari, and said it was awful (sorry I didn't get the exact reason that made it awful). I think perhaps too much breading and not enough flavor either. My other dining companions who had Chicken Parm and Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken rated them as "okay." My other friend really liked his Spaghetti with Mizithra Cheese and Browned Butter. I tasted that dish and it was delicious. Our server had an assistant or ? a trainee. After our meals were delivered, our server was AWOL. His assistant came by and asked us if we needed anything. We ordered three additional glasses of wine + water refills. They never came. Finally, our regular waiter came by to check in and asked us if we needed anything. Apparently, the assistant waiter never gave him our followup orders. Super frustrating and time consuming. I don't get topping off the meal with a scoop of ice cream at the end. Serving a complimentary ice cream does not make up for the lack of quality main dishes. I do not recommend OSF. read more
