I requested a reservation for a wedding luncheon. Our reservation was originally for 16; however, we were able to adjust without issue. Our server was very helpful and quick to congratulate the newlyweds. We were able to split our check which was great for everyone. They offer a great 3 course meal regardless of what you order. This includes a soup or salad, your entree and ice cream scoop. They allowed us to bring in a cake that they stored in the cooler until we were ready. He quickly cleared the table and brought small plates for us to use. The group ordered a variety of entrees and the soup was minestrone. They had a separate area for large group and that provided an excellent environment for our group. The music was loud enough to hear with being too loud. I had occasion to eat lunch at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Tacoma. I enjoyed my main course of Chicken Parmigiana and the side order of Broccoli. Normally the broccoli comes with Brown Butter and Mizithra cheese. But I asked for mine to be plain. The spaghetti was perfectly Al Dente and the chicken was cooked nicely, but I thought it was a touch dry. Luckily it was covered with a tasty marinara sauce. I was disappointed in the salad though. The OSF is to my kids what Olive Garden was to me growing up. A special occasion (LOL). We went here for a birthday dinner the other evening and my 6 year old son said "wow, this place is fancy mom." Ahhh, kids. I've never been to the Tacoma location, only Tukwila (RIP), so this was a nice opportunity to check it out. The inside was cool with a fun train car in the middle of the restaurant where people can actually dine inside. Other than that, very standard OSF vibes. There is a specific parking garage that you can park in to receive validated parking, but after 4pm, it's free. Score! With your entree, it comes with a starter soup (or can upgrade to a salad), sourdough bread with butter, and ice cream after your meal. I stuck to the soup (big soup girlie over here) which was the minestrone, and it was delicious! Sourdough came out piping hot and the butter was delicious. I was boring and got the chicken fettucine which was delicious. I was surprised that the chicken was cubed instead of sliced, but still good. I nixed the mushrooms and just stuck to broccoli. Overall a solid dish. My kids also went with the fettucine and they both absolutely devoured it. Hard to hate pasta covered in a cheesy sauce, ya? The kids' meals come with a juice/milk, apple sauce or salad, their meal, and ice cream. While all of the food was great, the service was a little rough. Our waitress was great - very nice and on top of things, but the kitchen had to have been backed up. We were there for 2.5 hours... Getting our food and drinks took an insane amount of time. Everybody has off days, but it was kinda crazy. I will praise the prices though, because for my entree and all that comes with it, plus two of my kids and their stuff, AND a large beer for myself, it was only $52 before tip. Walked in to the bar, 2 open but dirty tables. We stand by one. Guy comes in 5 minute after us and stands by the other. Manager cleans his table. He has a beer and we're still standing at a dirty table. All this is done by the manager Shannon. No words to us, no acknowledgment we were even in the room. I love this place! Same, traditional, friendly staff. Convenient location- always can find parking. I enjoy seeing families and grandparents with their grandchildren coming here. My daughter and I come when she's in town as she remembers our visits often whether when we lived in Seattle or Honolulu. It brings good memories which is what their glassware says! I always get either the potpourri or manager special. The mizithra which I've tried to make myself doesn't turn out right so get I there and it's always on point. The clam sauce is yummy too. You get so much for such a good deal $20-$30 per person! Can't really beat having bread and butter, salad or soup, entree and dessert which is a scoop of ice cream. Always get the spumoni! Yummmy. Love that there is a caboose here and we've sat there 1-2x. Great fun ambience! A must if you haven't and good for all kinds of groups. read more

We were a group of 8 for a friends birthday. We did request separate checks so I know that is a pain. Dillion was our server and clearly did not want to be there. We had to flag down another server to get refills of soda . He commented when clearing the table "oh you sure cleaned that plate". His whole demeanor was brash and unwelcoming. I hate to leave a bad review but this was not just bad service but rude service. Food was good but not when delivered by him. I even pulled a staff member aside saying we were there for a birthday and nothing. No acknowledgment of it at all. I am sad at our experience. read more

Waited 20 minutes for ice cream and yet by the time we finished that there were a half dozen salad plates still on the table, not a single dish had been bussed. It came back to our table half warmed in a microwave.....and with zero bread for dipping. When some of our party wanted to take the gross leftovers home, surely out of guilt for being wasteful, it took another ten minutes to get containers and then had to chase someone else down to get bags. My daughter and I wanted to have a special dinner and fun night out and made a reservation for 6:00 pm. We showed up at 5:45 for our reservation. We were told they were busy but it would be just a few minutes. At 6:20 we had not been seated so I asked why we were still waiting . I was told "we are really busy". Yes, I know. Which is why I MADE A RESERVATION! If you can't honor a reservation, don't take them! We were finally sat at 6:28, almost a half hour after our reservation was made. I have to wonder if I had been that late if they would have held the reservation (I think not). We then waited 10 minutes for anyone to greet us. Finally our server came over and took our orders. We never got water, just the drinks we ordered. The service was disjointed and slow. He never came back to check on us after our food was delivered. I had to ask for a refill on my drink and it took a long time to get that as well. The food was good, as per usual, but the service was absolutely terrible. The prices have gone up everywhere, including the Old Spaghetti Factory. I no longer want to pay high prices for eating out, which is a special occasion, and receive terrible service. If you are going to charge high prices then give decent service. read more

My boyfriend and I dined here with four friends on January 28th, which was not only Sunday but also the same day as Anime Washington. It was definitely packed and difficult to make a reservation. However, when we were we were seated after a few minutes and our server Kathryn was very sweet. I completely understand being swamped on busy night so I let her know that she didn't need to worry about us and we were willing to be patient as we also wanted to hang out. We also told her in advance that we wanted to split the bill separately, which she handled with no problems. She was very professional when taking our orders and did her best to get out our orders out in a timely manner. Her service was far more pleasant and memorable than the last time my boyfriend and I came by so it was very nice to receive great service, despite the very busy and chaotic day. The ambience is the usual dim-lit but with extravagant décor especially with the tram in the middle. We were seated close to the stairs of the entrance but it was a nice booth that was intimate. The table and booth looked clean as we seat down and our menus were on the table when we had arrived. I had the cotton candy limeade and the Vesuvius spaghetti with the salad and spumoni ice cream while my partner got the children fettuccine, minestrone, vanilla ice cream and Masterpiece Shake. This locations Customer service is outstanding first off. From host to wait staff each were welcoming and engaged to make the experience comfortable and fun. TOSF does chain restaurant decent with the whimsy of yesteryear including a cable car, high "lush" seating and broody saloon vibes with wood and stained glass accents. The menu is full of Italian cuisine options. The food is decent for the price points but maybe I'm spoiled with authentic Italian cooking. Go there have fun leave full. read more

We drove over an hour to get here and made reservations ahead of time, expecting a smooth and enjoyable dinner -- especially since it was my birthday. When we checked in, the host told us there would be no wait, but just five minutes later came back and said it would actually be a 30-45 minute wait. There was no courtesy call or notice letting us know our reservation wouldn't be honored on time. To make matters worse, there were at least ten open tables clearly visible right behind the host stand. We were only a party of four, so there was no reasonable excuse for the delay. The hosts and managers seemed completely indifferent -- no apology, no sense of urgency, and no acknowledgment that they had made a mistake. It honestly felt like they didn't care that it was my birthday or that we had traveled so far to eat there. The only redeeming part of the experience was our server, who was very kind, attentive, and professional once we were finally seated. Unfortunately, the poor handling by the front staff and management completely overshadowed that. This was supposed to be a special dinner, but instead it turned into a frustrating and disappointing night.
