This little restaurant is located in 'The Resort at Port Ludlow' which is a very quaint little village and the restaurant sits right at the waters edge. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were able to get a table outside. We were a party of 4 and the waitress was very pleasant and helpful in our selections. I chose the Goat Boater IPA from a local Washington brewery and it was very good. My wife and one of our friends ordered the burgers one medium rare and one medium but different toppings. When they arrived they were given to the wrong person and neither were cooked to the desired temperature our friends was medium rare and my wife's was medium well. I ordered the Mac and Cheese and it came with ziti noodles which I thought was odd. It was good but not special IMO. The food was pricey but given the location of the restaurant in the area of the country I was not surprised. The service was good as I said and the food was just average, but the view made up for the average food. read more

Stopped here for early dinner on way back to Seattle from Port Townsend. Nice day so we sat outside for the view of the marina. My wife and I ordered burgers, which were delicious and served with perfectly cooked Rosemary fries. My daughter enjoyed happy hour mussels and Cesar salad. We ended up staying at the inn as well as dining at the restaurant, a little treat. The room we stayed in was lovely, comfortable, and spotless. Our meal at the restaurant was absolutely outstanding. Everyone at the property, from Dan, to the front desk staff, the waitstaff & host at the restaurant, to housekeeping was gracious, kind & went above and beyond to make our visit special. A special shout out to the chef, who curated a special meal for us... what a spectacular experience. We had dinner there and it was a cute place, but it took over an hour to get our food. Several other tables were seated long after us and they had their meals and were paying their bill before we got our food. We saw other tables getting the same food that we ordered so it was confusing. Plus they charged us $4 per Pepsi refill and did not tell us there was a charge. Honestly with the one hour wait and horrid food they should have removed the Pepsi charges. The oyster steak was over cooked and the sauce had congealed (likely under a heat lamp), plus the sauce was burnt bitter and extremely salty. The green beans were shriveled and could not even be cut with the steak knife. My husband got the Halibut and it too was over cooked and the sauce was congealed and very salty, the lentils were mush and tasted horrible. My son got the cheese burger which he said was also salty but decent. The fries however were rock hard and cold, Not a $200 meal - definitely will not be back. read more

We left VERY underwhelmed. On a slow Monday afternoon with few tables occupied, we were passed by four employees assuring us someone would be back to seat us. Between two people and an order of soup/salad and soup/personal pizza, the 35min wait for food was presented with initially the wrong order, a very well-done pizza (burnt) and one soup after the meal. The $8 surcharge to add chicken to their salad was questionable for 6 bite-size pieces. After having to correct the $93 bill for an overcharge, we left hoping our next Fort Ludlow restaurant selection will be a better experience. read more

We were able to take advantage of happy hour prices even though we got there 10 minutes before it ended. Nice ambiance, cozy but can accommodate large groups. Great view of the marina. The happy hour menu has many choices and was reasonably priced. The steak was perfectly cooked. The mussels had nice flavor without being overpowered by the sauce. Pasta was also well done. Beautiful location, and we got a great spot in front of the fireplace. We got eggs Benedict and the veggie scramble -- the scramble was delicious. The Benedict however: the eggs and hollandaise were perfect, but the thin, slightly burnt sliver of Chimacum Grainery (rye?) toast was not the right choice to showcase the flavors of the Benedict. If you're going to do a Grainery toast with Benedict, it should be a much thicker slice of the Grainery's sourdough. But even better would be the traditional english muffins! Overall, expensive for the amount of food, so portions should be more generous. read more

My wife and I stayed at the resort on our wedding night. We had our rehearsal dinner and morning of breakfast at Fireside. The food was absolutely amazing. Our server Steve on the rehearsal night was awesome. We really enjoyed the view and the atmosphere is very welcoming. We felt welcomed and well taken care of here. Can't rave enough about this place. We came in during happy hour, we were seated in a rather awkward spot. We were behind a pole couldn't see other patrons and were seated side by side. The staff took a while to come give us any water or take our drink order. We ordered off the happy hour menu and I ordered oysters off the main menu, as we weren't very hungry but wanted to try the place out since we were staying in the resort. Our waiter did not seem to like that we ordered off the happy hour menu and seemed rather annoyed with us. It took a while to receive our food. When the food did come the burger was dry and lacked any flavor. The truffle fries were fine. The tapenade was quite bland. Oysters were fine but the sauce was not good at all. We were without water for probably 10 minutes + before anyone even noticed we were out. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated with beautiful views. Our timing wasn't ideal as they were extremely understaffed during our visit. We had a group of 8 for dinner and service was really slow. It's always aggravating to see diners at tables seated after your party, getting their food long before yours is prepared. We even had to send a rescue party to the bar to get another bottle of wine because our server went AWOL. The menu is interesting, and the food is very good. My steak was called Teres Major, which is actually not a constellation but part of a cow, allegedly the second most tender part of the animal. It was cooked properly, and tasty, but accompaniments were meh, and plating sloppy. 2+ hours after being seated, we finally finished our meal. Maybe 3 stars is too generous. read more

We recently stopped by for an early light dinner. Morgan, who is also the bartender, was our server, and he was over the top. To start, I asked for the house Red. Morgan brought three reds for us to taste and provided a great description of each as we sampled them. We chose a blend and moved on. That was pretty great in itself, but there was more to come. I ordered the steamed clams and commented to Morgan that, when I had them last, the bread, which was perfect for the tapenade we were enjoying, didn't absorb the liquid at end...which sounds petty but really is the best part of the dish. Morgan returned with a specially sliced alternative which worked well. The service and overall environment were wonderful , and the food was excellent. Highly recommended. Waitress was friendly, but poorly trained for the caliber of restaurant (not her fault). She couldn't tell us what the cut of chicken was. She said she thought it was a wing and a thigh or "shoulder". She didn't offer to find out At this point, I just opted for a burger. She didn't tell us there were options other than those on the menu, we overheard anther server after we ordered. Pork dish was overcooked with literally burnt black squash and woefully undercooked, crunchy risotto which was just floating in broth. Burger was also woefully overcooked, ordered medium, with a burnt bun. Very disappointing experience overall. The restaurant has a great farm to table concept, but the food was barely edible. The restaurant had 5 tables with customers when we arrived, 2 tables by the time we left, and everyone was literally crammed into the same little corner. No ambient music or anything, just all is us crammed into one corner trying to talk quietly enough as not to disturb the surrounding tables. Our first visit for Sunday brunch a couple weeks ago was disappointing. We waited a long time for our order to be taken, we asked if we could substitute an ingredient- told we could but not informed of the additional cost, took a long time for our cappuccinos which were lukewarm when they arrived with the waiter saying it was the bar's fault- asked for some extra coffee in our cappuccino cup to finish our breakfast and was not informed it would be an additional 9$ for 2! Our food could have been warmer as well. The bill also left items out. It's a beautiful setting but until they ramp up the wait staff and improve the little details, we won't be returning to spend our money there. It's a shame many businesses don't share the Nordstrom model to "take care of the customer " read more

Arrived at the Fireside at 3:30 PM. We were presented with a lunch menu, a happy hour menu and a dinner menu. The greeter said we could order from any of these options. We got our wine order in and received a really nice glass of wine. While perusing the menu and finalizing our choices, the server eventually approached and informed us that he was going on break. After an extended period, another server approached and we attempted to submit orders only to be told that we couldn't order from the lunch menu, nor the happy hour menu. The time was 4:02 PM - still posted happy hour, but....nope, she wasn't having it. After much discussion, we chose to finish our wine and cut our losses. After reading reviews on the lacking quality of the food at the Fireside, the one mile uphill walk to the Mexican restaurant was worth the effort and definitely the right choice. We were glad we cut our losses and moved on. What a horrific experience! Unbelievable that a server could be so obnoxious and inconsiderate. It is sad that a place that looks so nice on the surface can be so lacking. I suppose that theysort of have a captive audience with the boating community, as most won't realize that the better choice lies just a short walk away. read more

I'll start this off by saying that the dinner and drinks were really good. However, if you're going to eat here then you better make a reservation. Our server was obviously upset that we didn't have a reservation. She did not have a welcoming or friendly demeanor, and everything except our main course was given to us by other employees. Every time she came to our table (3 total times!) it felt like a drive-by. She couldn't even stop long enough for us to order additional drinks! Brunch: Once again, we arrived without making a reservation. We were told our wait would be 20 minutes. Which we were fine with. The hostess wrote our name on the back of a piece of paper, and promptly forgot about us. 45 minutes of waiting later, we decided to give up. 5 stars for the kitchen, 5 stars for the servers who picked up our servers slack, 1 star for our server, and 1 star for the hosts. read more

The dining room is small and in better weather has a nice patio that looks out on the marina. All I can say is Pear Tart! Also, my burger was flavorful and a perfectly juicy medium rare. The lettuce and tomato were indeed farm fresh and the fries not too greasy and flecked with coarse salt just the way I like. I was too late for the happy hour black cod cakes that caught my eye but maybe next time. I'm traveling solo so hoped to get a seat at the bar but there is no bar or tables available without a reservation on a Saturday night in Sept. The staff set me up to eat in my room at The Resort at Port Ludlow. I ate my burger, took a walk, returned and ordered dessert. Note that there is no room service but they plated my 'to go' pear tart. I spent some time observing while I waited for my order. The fireside pub ambiance is warm and glowy so everyone looks their best and the views from the window seats and deck are truly picturesque. Crowd noise level was low too for audible conversations. Hope to dine in my next time through. Something to note before making this a destination however is the "members only" attitude from some of the well-fixed locals. One reviewer said of the resort and restaurant "it seems like a closed community. I didn't feel like we belonged there." It is open to the public despite what some might like you to think. read more

Stopped in for HH on Sat 1/4/25. My wife and I ordered from the HH menu. Manila Clams ($11), Shimp Skewer ($10) and a Ceaser Salad ($10) to share. I also ordered a HH Manhattan ($9) and a glass of HH house white wine ($6). Let me start by saying our server was very professional and attending and apologized for the quantity of food served at HH saying "it's really not a very good deal. You're better off ordering off of the regular menu appetizer list". 1. Ceaser Salad: It came in a 4oz bowl. 4 -5 very small pieces of Romain, 6 croutons, sprinkled parm cheese, and a (very good) house dressing. Seriously? maybe $.65 worth of food cost. I ate it in 4 bites. My wife said "no problem, I'll eat the 5 pieces of spinach the shrimp are laying on. I'll just scrape the burnt char off of the greens..." 2. Shrimp Skewers: 3 charred black, barely edible, 16/20 shrimp. Less than $.75 worth of food product. So much blackened char, we had to scrape the burnt residue off before we shared 3 very marginal shrimp for $10 3. Manila Clams: 6 CLAMS!!!! Enough said. Good butter/garlic broth. Very tasty broth, but 3 very small clams each for $11??? Really! What ever happened to the idea of exceeding expectations? You have a great location, beautiful facility, captive and repetitive market, and for the most part, a quality product. Why piss off your guests by shortchanging them with portion size? It makes no sense. We were there to decide if we were going to have dinner there tomorrow evening with guests. Needless to say, management better get their sh't together. Never coming back, and it's a shame, we invite guests to our Port Ludlow condo all the time. read more

The potatoes were great too . the sour dough and local creamery butter were fabulous. That said, the service was not good at all. Not the server, the service. There was only one server and way to many customers, obviously the fault of managment. We waited the better part of an hour with nothing but water. We were here for dinner the night before and was not nearly so bad. We were here for the Sunday prime rib special but due to it being st Patrick's day they did not have it. read more

We dined here for our anniversary this month and there were a lot of things we loved about Fireside and some parts of the experience that were a bit meh. The husband of mine planned a weekend getaway to a remote creekside cabin where most of our meals he chefed up himself! I know, I'm a lucky lady. He wanted at least one fancy dinner out, so we drove the 30 mins to Port Ludlow to enjoy the beautiful water views boasted by Fireside. The resort and restaurant are both lovely and indeed right on the water. Husband had made reservations about 3 weeks in advance and the hostess seated us without any wait. Our table was in a corner by the busy hallway and even though there were other tables open they said they were reserved for hotel guests, the hostess was dismissive when I asked if we could wait for a nicer table or get a drink somewhere or be sat anywhere that wasn't in the dark hallway corner. We couldn't see the windows and it was loud and disruptive. I wasn't asking for a patio table or anything, I understood that maybe saying it's our anniversary in the reservation wasn't enough and we should have been specific about what we expected. I was feeling a little down about our special night not starting off so well when our server came over and recommended some drinks. She was wonderful and upon hearing that we were disappointed, was able to get us moved into the other dining room that was brighter and, while not near a window, you could at least see the water which was great and immediately brightened my mood..as well as let me see what was on my plate! There were lots of gluten free options and the server was great about helping me navigate the menu to find items I could have with my celiac allergy. For starters we shared a seasonal salad with delicious local hazelnuts and shaved radish, we both loved it! I ordered the halibut and the husband had the flat iron. Both proteins were cooked to the perfect temp and quite excellent but unfortunately we both had a serious lack of seasoning on the sides and sauces and kept passing the salt shaker back and forth, which is very unusual for us as the only things I like salty are some late night drunken french fries..but who doesn't?! We were grateful and pleased when the server brought us out a complimentary creme brulee dessert for our anniversary, which was so thoughtful. Here too we were shocked at how bland the custard was..and being gf we eat A LOT of creme brulee..honestly it's like the only dessert on every menu that's always gf. We actually left it uneaten it was so unpleasant, but we really appreciated the gesture. While obviously our experience was less than ideal, the beauty of the restaurant setting had we procured a patio table, the carefully crafted farm to table menu, the perfect execution of our proteins, and the hands down amazing experience our server gave us, ended up making this an okay night. We'd definitely dine here again because the food might have just been an off night so next time we're in the area we'll make reservations in advance and sample some additional noms. read more

I love our local restaurant, which is basically one of only two full-service restaurants in town. Excellent food quality, good cocktails, friendly service, and casual yet slightly upscale ambiance. I have some feedback that would get me and my neighbors to visit the restaurant more often: * Please increase portion sizes a bit more. It is frustrating to leave the restaurant 85% to 90% full, especially when visitors cannot just walk down the street and buy a snack. When you're the only restaurant around, I recommend focusing on filling our bellies. * Create more shareable food or appetizers. We would love to visit the restaurant more frequently for happy hours or neighborhood social efents, however the kitchen seems more focused on fussy dishes for special occasions. Hotel guests and locals would love to nosh on simple appetizers with wine or cocktails. * Please provide cushions for outdoor seating on the deck. Lunch and dinner service can be slow (which is nice!), but man those deck chairs become really uncomfortable after 45 minutes. read more

We were visiting from out of town and saw the happy hour menu online. We arrived and there were three people in the restaurant and four servers working. When we were given the menu it didn't have any of the foods that were listed on the online menu. We placed our three "not so small" orders and two orders of garlic fries. It took us forty minutes to receive our food and the server came to our table 35 minutes into our wait to let us know the food would come soon. She didn't offer to refill our drinks and didn't apologize for the wait. The food arrived after 40 minutes and while the garlic fries were good, the portion size of the "macaroni and cheese" was very small for an $18 plate. After receiving the check the server was behind the bar cleaning about fifteen feet away from us after ten minutes we had to go up to the hostess to ask to close our check for us. Our visit was disappointing and with the lack of communication from the staff for having to wait 40 minutes for our food in a near empty restaurant will likely mean we will not return. read more

Wow. Not the Father's Day brunch we had hoped for. All three of our meals were awful. The level of grease in the potatoes made them inedible. People in France are crying that they can offer this as a crepe. The crepe dough was a sweet dough for a savory crepe and It was thick rubbery and had burnt edges. There couldn't have been more than 2 tablespoons smoked salmon and one slice of the foraged mushrooms in two crepes. When the server brought it to our table we laughed because it looked like an appetizer for $20. Our server was kind but completely clueless. So disappointing. We really hit the jackpot for this getaway weekend. Nordland Island, Marrowstone Winery then this gem! Somehow the Sat us immediately at the best seat in the house sitting outside under a heater without a reservation. The mimosas were perfectly balanced, corn beef hash was homemade and possibly the best I've ever had. My partner loved his salmon crepe. The lady at the table next to us was swooning over her peach Bellini. Find the waitress who used to be a hotshot fire fighter in Alaska...she was the best and deserves a huge tip. Hubby and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday evening, we arrived at around 6pm. Beautiful place. The menu appeared to have some delicious offerings, but we soon discovered that the descriptions of the dishes were misleading and not everything was available. Our waitress who took our order was friendly, but after she took our order we never saw her again and we were not handed off to anyone else in particular. Appetizer: We wanted to order the lobster bisque as an appetizer, but they were out of it. Ordered the "bruschetta" instead, and asked to hold the goat cheese (no other substitution available). When the bruschetta arrived, we realized that there were no appetizer plates on the table, so we had to steal some from a neighboring table. Without the goat cheese, the bruschetta consisted of VERY small rock-hard pieces of bread with a small spoonful of cherry-something (tasty). We borrowed the olive oil/olive mix that came with the basket of bread and drizzled that over the bruschetta for some moisture and added flavor. Again, no waitress to ask us if we had everything we needed and the neighboring table who had arrived after us received their food ahead of us. Main course: My husband ordered the "porterhouse". Little did we know, that it was a porterhouse PORK chop. Perhaps if we had known that, he wouldn't have ordered it medium rare. Medium rare pork? Ew. The server said nothing, and thankfully it was not served medium rare. Had he known that it was going to be pork, he would have ordered the flat iron steak. We only discovered that it was pork when the food arrived (thinking back, if it had been a steak, it would have been quite a bit more expensive). Everything on the plate was the same color, a light beige (pork, mashed potatoes, apple compote). The flavor of the mashed potatoes and apple compote was ok, but the pork was not well-seasoned. I can't imagine an actual chef put that plate together and was satisfied with the presentation. I ordered the Chicken Marsala. The Marsala sauce lacked the flavor and richness generally associated with Marsala sauce (had to add salt and pepper) and contributed nothing to the dish which consisted of a small chicken thigh with some plain steamed spinach over some fancy sounding pasta that looked like large couscous (the name escapes me). Drinks: I had a glass of the Pino Gris, and it was good. My husband had a glass of the IPA which was fine. For a restaurant serving dishes that are at a price point of greater than $35/plate, I would have expected more from the food and the service. As it is a nice location and not far from our house, we will likely give it another try for lunch. I don't imagine we will go there for dinner again. read more
