This was a delightful place to have a business lunch early on a Thursday. Whatever hazy they had on tap was delicious. More importantly, all the food was excellent. The mushroom appetizer! The menu says the fish of the fish and chips dish is award-winning. It was indeed top-tier, but still not the best I've had here in the South land. When I first arrived, I was confused and turned around because I had only been to the Santa Ana location, sad to learn that location has closed, but I will say the decor and vibe is so similar. It's like you're having some type of déjà vu if you've been to the other location, but not this one. I had a wonderful visit with The Olde Ship. I had the Bangers and Mash while my roommate had the Fish and Chips. We split a Yorkshire Pudding and Sticky Toffee Pudding. We ordered off the lunch menu, so the price was less and the portions were smaller. I've never been to England and I've never been exposed to British food, but I absolutely loved everything I had here. Well, admittedly, the Yorkshire Pudding was just weird soggy bread that you dip into a barely-salted au jus. My roommate went crazy for it though. The Sticky Toffee Pudding alone makes this place a 5/5. It's like a firm and sticky banana bread drenched in a VERY light milk. This one didn't get soggy, I think the dates helped it retain its structure in the face of moisture. I left it in there for a while, too. I couldn't get enough! I absolutely loved it, although my description wasn't the most appealing. The Bangers and Mash was fantastic! The mash was the star of the show for me, it had such a delightful deep flavor and the savory gravy elevated the whole thing. The actual banger was a surprisingly lightly seasoned sausage with a good firm bite and nice flavor. The vegetables were just steamed carrots and peas. The cod's breading was tasty, it wasn't too oily and it had a nice pleasant herby flavor. The fries were fries, they were ok. Long story short, The Olde Ship was such an amazing experience. Decor and service were cool, but I'd come back for the mash and sticky toffee pudding. I'm telling everyone, you gotta give this place a try. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants for fish and chips, but we hadn't eaten here in several years since before covid. We ate here yesterday for lunch and both had the lunch special: fish and chips. The portion of fish was decent, there could have been some more fries, and then some coleslaw. The coleslaw was just okay, I didn't care for it. The fish & chips was excellent. I like that it the breading wasn't as heavy as other restaurants. I like the quality here, but the quantity could be better. If I went to another restaurant, I would probably get twice as much fish & chips. read more

Stumbled across this place after a brief Yelp search for Guiness on tap, and found this hidden gem! British pub with some really good beer and fish and chips! I don't usually order fish when I eat out anywhere because I am always skeptical about how fresh the fish might be, but the fish here was PHENOMENAL. Crispy, tender, and the chips just right. All this with a perfectly poured Guinness made for an excellent Saturday brunch. Service was great, a little bit on the slower side but I am never usually in a rush when I eat out. The place was decorated with christmas ornaments which created a very home-y winter ambiance. Parking is a little tough so you may have to park a little walk aways, but it is a lovely walk! Love this place. Been coming for years. On my most recent visit, my server (Nick S) was so cool and knowledgeable about the history of the place and everything on the walls. If I could give this 0 stars I would. This was the worst experience we have had here. We were told a 30 minute wait and waited over an hour. Once we were sat we waited another 30 minutes before any waiter approached the table. The food okay. Served with vegetables and gravy." - The dish was good. A little pricey for what and the amount that you get. But the overall taste was splendid. The ground beef was flavored well and it worked well with the mashed potatoes. The gravy added that extra flavor and punch. The vegetables (carrots and peas) were bland since they were just steamed. You had to put gravy on them to flavor them so I was just downing them with gravy and pepper. ++Coke - $3.75 -Classic lol. Always love a good refill haha. Since it was my coworkers bday, they included a B'Day dessert (Not Sticky Toffee) for free! It was a nice thicc chocolate cake. It was rich in flavor, decadent and we all got to share/taste it. Seating and ambiance: British vibes everywhere. Plenty of indoor seating along with bar seating. There was something to look at everywhere you looked - even including the restroom lol. I am sensitive to smell and unfortunately, I kept getting wafts of pee randomly when we were eating. A piece of England in SoCal. Unassuming exterior that hides a London-esque pub with good food and even better ale. I always get the Traditional full breakfast with blood pudding and a pint. Everything tastes fresh and authentic. The servers are also very accommodating and kind. My waitress was kind enough to recommend me with different kinds of Samuel Smith ales and even brought out condiments (HB sauce, mustard) with my food even though I didn't ask for it. It is so hard to find restaurants with British food, let alone one so delicious and well executed, so when we tried the Olde Ship we were so pleasantly surprised. Growing up in Fullerton, the Olde Ship has always been a famous spot that we would hear of often, so I am surprised it took us this long to try it. He was so kind the entire time, offering us suggestions, checking on us often, and making sure our drinks were always full. We ordered the Traditional English Breakfast, Bangers & Mash, One Piece Cod Meal with a side of Curry, and the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Everything was delicious. My boyfriend got the english breakfast and felt that the deep fried bread was a little too greasy and made it hard for him to finish everything, but the HP sauce they provided helped cut through the grease a little bit. The bangers & mash were delicious and felt like such a homemade meal. They are known for their Fish & Chips, but we personally feel that their other dishes are much better than their fish, but the side of curry sauce did make the dish better. Finally, the sticky toffee pudding was phenomenal. We were already so full and thought we couldn't eat anymore food, but once we took a bite of the sticky toffee pudding, it was gone in less than 30 seconds. It was warm, had a deep, nutty sweetness, and the cream brought it all together. The true star of the show and something that will definitely bring us back is the decor and ambiance of this restaurant. First time here. The place is 20 years old, no reservations accepted. It gives old English pub vibes. The restaurant is in old Fullerton. Fair warning it will take some maneuvering to get there. Harbor and streets around Fullerton are being worked on. Service and food were excellent. I had the special of Prime Rib open faced sandwich. This sandwich isn't offered all the time according to our server. Prime rib was cooked perfectly to order and the steak fries were excellent. Went to The Olde Ship for New Years Eve! The bar and common sit down dining area was pretty full at 1 pm in preparation for UK New Years! There was a limited menu which was good except for the $15 grilled cheese sandwich, lack of eating utensils and napkins lol! It was super busy and a holiday so those things weren't deal breakers. The people who were there to celebrate were amazingly nice and we struck up interesting conversations during our two hour stay. The Guinness was lovely until about 2/3 the way through the first pint ... and then ugh! Headache! For us, that's the tell tale sign of tap lines that have not been cleaned and we had unfortunately already ordered our 2nd pint. Needless to say we both decided to leave early due to the headaches ... we could've switched to bottled beer but there was no list of beers available from our waitress who just asked what color beer we wanted and by that point we weren't feeling it anymore even though our tablemates were great! On Saturday January 31st my boyfriend and I went to your restaurant to enjoy hanging out at the pub. However,we had an awful experience. As we were sitting at our table minding our business the older British lady working behind the bar was yelling at the food server. It made us very uncomfortable. She was going on and on humiliating the server. I believe the servers name is Carrie and she was very professional and attentive during this whole ordeal.
