Raxy is the best bartender! Extremely polite & attentive. Really makes the vibe of this place worth it! Only coming back for her! Had an amazing time. Thank you.

Super intimate atmosphere with a nice view of north downtown. The bartender which happened to be one of the owners was super friendly & open to our wild groups convos, lol. Highly recommend for date night or a quiet reading spot. They also have a glass chess board on one of the high tops. There is a great taco spot next door that you can bring food in from. 10/10

This seems to be a place where the experiences change, so it's kind of hard to judge I guess overall Cause everything is different! When I went, I did the beauty and the beast experience, so I'll judge it based off that. Ambiance--very prettily decorated! I think they did a great job on that. Drinks--actually quite nice and very in-theme Food--I almost wanna laugh cause there is basically NO food. They brought out a snack cart and said you could have only 1 item. I had a cookie. A single cookie. Don't let the dining set up fool you Experience--it's a mystery where the hosts know of the curse and your table has to solve the mystery. If I'm being totally honest, it was just okay. The girls were all sweet and funny in their own way but it was very improv. The fourth wall was broken a few times so the illusion was broken a bit but I commend them for trying their best. Would I pay all this money to do it again? Eh, no. Do I regret it? Hmm, just not happy about the price tag for what it was but I had an experience with my family so I suppose I wouldn't change it. Tip--Venue entrance was in the back of the building, and it kinda just looks like a regular old building at first. Just wait in the lobby before the hosts check you in. Don't be (too) late! They won't let you in if you are.

We came here for the Alice cocktail experience! Wow what a fun evening. The experience was about 1.5 hours and was so fun! The bar itself had amazing theming and decorations. The actors were funny and experienced. The drinks were super fun to create and for some we had to solve riddles to collect all the ingredients. I highly recommend this and it was so worth it! I paid for an extra cocktail there and got it in a big smoking tea pot! The drinks were actually super strong and left feeling good lol! We got to paint our drinks for the final one and my drink won! Bc the queen loves a stiff cock...tail! Parking is a small lot in the back but I parked on the street on Magnolia.

We came here for a traveling Alice & Wonderland event. Limited parking & hard to find. The decor was so whimsical with great photo ops. The actors were in Character & interactive. The eat me cookie was delish. We solved riddles to acquire 3 ingredients for our alcohol tea. Then we had a red paint contest for the queen. Fun date night with my man.

The vibe here is dark, intimate, and gives off a chic city nightlife feel. They offer both a full cocktail menu and a happy hour menu. They also offer a Thai tapas menu, which we unfortunately didn't get to try because we were already stuffed from dinner at Talay, but the menu looked amazing and gives us another reason to come back! The drinks are unique, creative, and very well crafted. We ordered the Celestial Bloom, and it was absolutely delicious! It was beautifully balanced and left us wanting to come back just to try more of their cocktails. Definitely a great spot for drinks before or after dinner!

I could see lots of people bringing dates here. First up, I tried a $17 Tree of Life. The drink the bartender made me was maybe 2 sips. There's a giant ice cube and a bamboo leaf or something and very little drink to drink. Not sure what to make of this because as soon as I was deciding if I liked it or not, it was gone. Wouldn't order this again. Second, I tried a $17 Adam & Eve. I wish the matcha was much stronger. There's a place in Tampa called Tori Bar that has a super duper matcha tasting cocktail. This one was much lighter. It was fine, not my favorite. Maybe I'd bring a date here sometime, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Went to celebrate a birthday and the service was surprisingly quick for how busy they were on a Friday evening, the servers as well as managers AND the hostess all checked in regularly with a smile and small talk when prompted. We were especially impressed that servers not tending to our table placed orders/knew of orders and communicated with the waitress serving us. Most restaurants struggle to keep orders ready with the designated server, this place EXCELLED with communication. We all enjoyed a variety of different cocktails, all of which were delicious (however a bit pricy for some) and all partook in appetizers and entrees. ALL of the food was delicious and had fair portions, couldn't say enough good things. This place is a bit cramped but not horribly, the decor is cute and everything is clean :) Most importantly, to celebrate the birthday we were brought a tres leches cake that paired very nicely with the pastelitos and cafecito service! The cake was DELICIOUS, the coffee was wonderful, and the experience was a highlight for a busy weekend of festivities! 10 out of 10 will be coming back again! :)

Instead of ordering from a menu, I trusted him to craft something based on my vibe and somehow, he nailed it. Not once, but twice. It was like he scanned my palate and delivered exactly what I didn't even know how to ask for. Easily the best cocktail I've ever had made for me. Everyone I was with had the same experience. Drinks felt personalized, balanced, and thoughtfully executed. It's rare to find that level of intuition behind the bar. On the food side, I tried the corn ribs, which were a standout in their own way. Unique, flavorful, and an easy choice if you're a fan of corn. They worked perfectly as a shareable appetizer. The overall vibe leans toward a more decadent, intimate experience. It's the kind of place you go when you want to slow down, have meaningful conversation, and enjoy something crafted with care. If you're looking for a cocktail spot that goes beyond the menu and delivers something truly tailored, this place is special.

The vibe is laid-back, the music is at a good volume, and it's a great place to enjoy dinner and drinks without feeling rushed. To start, we ordered the croquettes and the Caesar salad bites. The croquettes were very good and something I would absolutely order again. The Caesar salad bites, however, completely stole the show. They were insane and are a must-order every time I come back. For our entrees, we ordered the rigatoni and the chicken. This was my second time getting the rigatoni, and it was just as good as I remembered. Rich, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite dishes on the menu. The chicken was also very good and cooked well. That said, if you're looking for a protein entrée, I'd still recommend the tomahawk. My group ordered it on my first visit, and it's still one of the best dishes I've had here. The cocktails were excellent as well. I started with the Forbidden Bloom, which was fantastic. I also tried the Split Personality (Not pictured). It wasn't my favorite, but that's more a reflection of my taste since I'm not much of a whiskey drinker. I've also had the espresso martini on a previous visit, and it was phenomenal. Overall, Lamp & Shade continues to impress. I just apparently still believe that when oysters and $47 pasta appear on a menu, one should be able to hear the person sitting across the table. To be fair, the service throughout the evening was excellent and attentive, and the bourbon drinks ("Filthy Behavior") were genuinely good. We also ordered the croquettes, Caesar salad bites, 12 oysters, the spicy rigatoni with lump crab, golden rice with shrimp, and a discounted prosecco because it was oyster/prosecco Tuesday. The pasta itself was cooked properly, and the golden rice ended up being the least salty thing we ate, which unfortunately made it the standout. Everything else tasted as though the kitchen had recently suffered a tragic misunderstanding involving seawater. At one point we asked if the music was usually this loud because we genuinely couldn't hear each other speak. Our server kindly said she would check on it, but either management said no or the DJ entered a blood oath with the sound system. Conversation had become theoretical. Maybe this is the vibe now. Maybe dining is no longer about the food and meaningful conversation, with lighting so oddly bright--less intimate dinner, more "the club is closing, please locate your belongings"--while paying $220 for two people with automatic gratuity included. For me, the whole experience felt wildly overpriced--ordinary food dressed in extraordinary.
