We stayed at Aloft since we were seeing a show at Steinmetz Hall. Went across the street to The Bohemian but they didn't have HH so we came back here once they opened. Ambience was mid-tier hotel lobby bar. Bartender wasn't very congenial but got the job done. HH prices were nice. Recommend the cheese fries ans meatballs. Pretzel was also good, but not enough cheese sauce and way too much mustard. Why are the serving sizes always the same?!

House red wine during happy hour.

This is a great spot for a drink before seeing a show at the Dr. Phillip's Center! We were looking to have a glass of wine and this was the perfect spot. It is part of the Aloft hotel and is a cute and cozy bar with lots of fun neon signs and lights. The bartender was really friendly and they had great music on. We will be back again the next time we come downtown for a show!

The drinks and happy hour prices were good. Santiago the bartender was excellent. Provided some dinner recommendations and was nice to talk too.

The hotel occupies the former Orlando Utilities Commission building that has been a part of Downtown Orlando for over 45 years. For the most part the building was completely renovated, but the folks at Starwood have left a few original pieces from the former OUC building. Some original artifacts like the teak wood panels and terrazzo floors in the lobby still remain. The hotel takes up 110-thousand square feet and features 118 guest rooms with sixty of those being suites. One of the first things you will notice upon entering the hotel is the trendy and ultra modern WXYZ bar that is vying for a spot among Orlando's bar scene. The WXYZ is flashy and chic with tables in the bar area that are equipped with outlets and chargers for all of your electronic gadgets and includes free WiFi.

Not your typical run of the mill hotel bar here...and the main reason for that is the staff! The staff behind the bar, and for that matter at the front desk, were stupendous! The free wasabi peanuts and salted almonds make for a nice snack as you drown the day away! Drinks are standard issue drinks, but overall I love this bar and will swing back in when wandering around downtown.

Nice hotel bar before a night on the town.

The vibe here is dark, intimate, and gives off a chic city nightlife feel. They offer both a full cocktail menu and a happy hour menu. They also offer a Thai tapas menu, which we unfortunately didn't get to try because we were already stuffed from dinner at Talay, but the menu looked amazing and gives us another reason to come back! The drinks are unique, creative, and very well crafted. We ordered the Celestial Bloom, and it was absolutely delicious! It was beautifully balanced and left us wanting to come back just to try more of their cocktails. Definitely a great spot for drinks before or after dinner!

The hidden door which you push is on the right side. Once inside the bar it is super small inside. The tables along the wall are squished together. I think you're better off at the bar. I could see lots of people bringing dates here. First up, I tried a $17 Tree of Life. The drink the bartender made me was maybe 2 sips. There's a giant ice cube and a bamboo leaf or something and very little drink to drink. Not sure what to make of this because as soon as I was deciding if I liked it or not, it was gone. Wouldn't order this again. Second, I tried a $17 Adam & Eve. I wish the matcha was much stronger. There's a place in Tampa called Tori Bar that has a super duper matcha tasting cocktail. This one was much lighter. It was fine, not my favorite. Maybe I'd bring a date here sometime, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Real good vibes. Orlando obviously has no shortage of places to eat, drink, and gather, but Alfie's belongs to that rare category of venues that feel equally at home in a major metropolis. It's the kind of spot that would fit seamlessly into Los Angeles's best neighborhoods: think Gold Line in Highland Park or the Vinyl Room at the Hollywood Palladium. Not because they're carbon copies, but because they share that intangible quality of genuine discovery and cultural curiosity. The crowd ( age range 25 - 35 mostly ) was genuinely engaged with one another. People were actually talking, actually present, not hunched over their phones. That alone felt invigorating. There was an undeniable spark in the room. Alfie's wasn't chasing trends; it was simply allowing them to emerge naturally. What impressed me most was how they brought it all together .. Retro stereo equipment and vinyl players from the 50s mixed with a bar area that's super sleek and modern. Conversations, music, the lounge itself .... all came together in a way that felt alive and IN THE MOMENT. When my LA friends visit, Alfie's is on the list. Go after 9 or 10 PM and plan to stay for at least two hours. That's when you really see the scene develop and come alive. Bring your ID: they card at the door. Even at my age, I still get carded. No complaining about that ! lol

I arrived just before their 4 PM opening and grabbed a seat at the beautiful quartz bar top once the doors opened. Happy hour was the mission, and I decided to build my meal entirely from the HH menu. To start, I ordered a mojito along with the tostones and shrimp skewers. The mojito was an excellent opening act. Refreshing, balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. The tostones were also well executed. They were pressed to the perfect thickness, creating a crisp exterior while maintaining a tender center. The topping was flavorful, though I found it a bit sparse and could have used a little more generosity. The shrimp skewers were the standout dish of the evening. Served over white rice with a mango sofrito, they were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. While the portion was respectable, they were so good I immediately found myself wishing I had ordered more. As a follow-up to the mojito, I ordered a margarita. Another winner. The bar program appears to be taken very seriously here, and both cocktails were thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. The restaurant's decor is tasteful and inviting, creating a comfortable atmosphere without feeling overly polished. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and well trained throughout the visit. The only minor challenge is parking, as the lot is shared with neighboring businesses and can become crowded depending on the time of day. It's a small inconvenience and certainly not enough to detract from the experience. Overall, Otto's High Dive made a terrific first impression. Between the strong cocktail program, well-executed Cuban-inspired cuisine, and attentive service, it's easy to see why this place has developed a following. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the regular menu.

It evokes another era, the 1930s and 1940s, a hidden place where people escaped reality for a few hours and where every whispered conversation felt a little more dangerous than it should. There is something about saying the name out loud that feels almost mischievous. Even before stepping inside, it conjures images of old Hollywood glamour, forbidden romance, and the kind of longing that filled classic films. The sort of place where people met not because they had to, but because they couldn't stay away. The space itself more than lives up to the promise of its name. Death in the Afternoon is one of the most visually interesting places Orlando has to offer. It feels intimate, mysterious, and wonderfully removed from the ordinary. I couldn't help but think of The Great Gatsby, not because of excess or extravagance, but because of that same sense of romance, possibility, and yearning for something just out of reach. In fact, I visited twice in the same afternoon. My first stop was simply to satisfy my curiosity and see if the reality matched the image I had built up in my head. It did. So after completing the rest of my three-hour Mills 50 walk, I found myself drawn back for a meal and a chance to enjoy the atmosphere a little longer. The menu is limited, so choose wisely. The salmon entrée was excellent and easily the standout of my meal. The Caesar salad was pleasant enough, but the salmon is what I would come back for. As a perfect ending to the day, a dear longtime Yelp colleague joined me and we spent some time catching up on the latest news and gossip in our circles. The croquettes were very good and something I would absolutely order again. The Caesar salad bites, however, completely stole the show. They were insane and are a must-order every time I come back. For our entrees, we ordered the rigatoni and the chicken. This was my second time getting the rigatoni, and it was just as good as I remembered. Rich, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite dishes on the menu. The chicken was also very good and cooked well. That said, if you're looking for a protein entrée, I'd still recommend the tomahawk. I just apparently still believe that when oysters and $47 pasta appear on a menu, one should be able to hear the person sitting across the table. To be fair, the service throughout the evening was excellent and attentive, and the bourbon drinks ("Filthy Behavior") were genuinely good. We also ordered the croquettes, Caesar salad bites, 12 oysters, the spicy rigatoni with lump crab, golden rice with shrimp, and a discounted prosecco because it was oyster/prosecco Tuesday. The pasta itself was cooked properly, and the golden rice ended up being the least salty thing we ate, which unfortunately made it the standout. Everything else tasted as though the kitchen had recently suffered a tragic misunderstanding involving seawater. At one point we asked if the music was usually this loud because we genuinely couldn't hear each other speak. Our server kindly said she would check on it, but either management said no or the DJ entered a blood oath with the sound system. Conversation had become theoretical. Maybe this is the vibe now. Maybe dining is no longer about the food and meaningful conversation, with lighting so oddly bright--less intimate dinner, more "the club is closing, please locate your belongings"--while paying $220 for two people with automatic gratuity included. For me, the whole experience felt wildly overpriced--ordinary food dressed in extraordinary.
