What a surprisingly comprehensive beer shop. Good for anyone serious about beer. There's a great representation of local Illinois beers as well as other goodies. There's a fridge in the back with singles. I was a little disappointed not to find any stouts in the fridge, but I definitely found some juicy IPAs. There's also a modest bar area to get fresh beer. The person ringing me up was nice enough to offer me a sample as I was purchasing my beer to go. If you're in the area, definitely stop by! read more

Stopped in to taste the newly released Infinity Hero on tap at TOB. The beer is awesome and is very nuanced. Not old school IPA, not Hazy IPA, it lands somewhere in between. My wife had a cocktail since she doesn't drink beer. A few beverages late we left with a few six packs for enjoying at the homestead. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Will be back! read more

This is a nice place, good beer selections, great decor etc... The one thing lacking is the customer service. They could not have been anymore unfriendly during the two times that I visited. One of those times my friend and I were the only ones in the place and from the time that we walked in the door we were greeted as if we were an interruption to their day. No "Hello, how can we help you?" or anything of the sort. At one point I walk up to the bar and said "Excuse me ma'am" and she tells me she's in the middle of something else at the moment and completely dismisses me. Remember my friend and I were on the only one's in the store at that time. One male and one female bar tender (neither of which were the owners). Been there twice and received the same attitude. Customer service is just as important as beer selection. If I am made to feel like you could care less if I am there then I likely won't come back. read more

They will chill and pour beer on-site from the shelves in addition to their draft list. The prices are way better than most unique craft beer bottle shops I've been to. I am in love with this place! It's craft beer heaven. I'm constantly coming here to make my own 6 packs to try new beers all of the time. It's also a great place to stop in & have a few. They always have different beers and plenty of options to choose from. There's something for everyone here. The beers that they have on tap are always good no matter when you come. And if you don't see anything you like on tap, they will open any single can on the shelf or from the fridge and pour it for you. I also love that they offer 7oz pours, it's perfect for sampling things you've never tried. It's clean and pretty spacious for a smaller shop. Never feels crowded. And the employees are super nice and accommodating. Hands down my favorite place to get craft beer to bring home. Period. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I wish they offered some type of food. I know you have to have a separate license for that & maybe they just want to focus on alcohol. But even a few bar snacks.. pretzels or nuts would be a great option if you're sitting down for a drink. read more

I LOVE this place!! The BEST craft beer shop/ tap room / hang out for beer nerds I've been too! Top reasons this place is amazing: 1. The owners & bartenders are awesome! They know their shit! 2. They allow dogs 3. Great daily activities & promotions 4. They Support local breweries (this should be higher but I'm playing brewery bingo so ) 5. It's CLEAN! Not only that but they have a sign that tells you when the lines were cleaned. Who else does that? No one! And best of all, they have hooks in the bathroom so ladies - no putting your purse on your lap or the top of the toilet or floor. Love love love this place! read more

Used to be a great place! We will NEVER NEVER RETURN! I called a MBF spoke to a girl about bringing our St. Bernard's in. They have been there numerous times and IL with the whole COVID thing I wanted to make sure they could still come. She said yes absolutely they are more than welcome. We were in Sunday August 2,2020 with the boys and everyone was so happy to see them. We came back tonight August 4 and were told we could not come in with them. I explained that I called and have already been I . They said nope get them out! We will NEVER EVER RETURN HERE!! Rude people also!! And the best thing...the manager didn't have the balls to tell me himself, he sent a worker to tell me! What a useless POS!! read more

My favorite craft beer shop. The selections on tap are excellent. If you don't see anything you like, you can pick out a can or bottle in the store and they will chill it and serve it in a glass for you. They released a collaboration beer with Hailstorm Brewing, a local Tinley brewery. Great to see Tinley businesses supporting each other. It's never too busy here, which I appreciate very much. Often times it's a coffee-shop style atmosphere with people typing away on their laptops. They have free arcade games too! That's not to say it's dull, it's just a different atmosphere than the Oak Park Avenue bars in Tinley. Of course it depends on when you show up on how busy it will be, but I never had an issue getting a seat at the bar. Tinley is a great spot for craft beer. This particular stretch on and just off of 183rd Street has this shop, 350 Brewing, Soundgrowler Brewing, and Hailstorm. Check them all out as well! read more

***Changed Review*** I was over charged and the bar tender could only say "sorry". I was pretty disappointed when the menu clearly stated one price and she rang me up for double. The store very quickly took care of me the next day. I hope they can find a better bar tender that doesn't make a simple mistake like this one again. I would love to come here again in the future. Great location and great parking! ***Old Review*** Pretty disappointed! The menus were out and I pointed and ordered 4 Fist City 16oz for $3. So when I got ran up I saw the bill was way over $12. I said excuse me the menu says it's $3 and I even ordered the $3 drink. She said oh sorry that's Thursday's menu.... I said this is the menu that's sitting out all over. She said it's only $5. I signed for my tab. Turns out the drinks were $6. So my bill was twice as much as what the menu said and the bar tender could only say "sorry". Wow...: cant say I will be back! Tinley Park is becoming like Derrick Rose of Craft Beer. They don't play. On our impromptu south suburb beer crawl (crawl = drive in the suburbs), The Open Bottle is the place I was most enamored with. I guess you have to jump through many hoops, legally/financially, to be able to sell beer and also serve it. But the young couple that own this place (seemingly very gracious) made it happen, and they're straight killing it. Don't confuse this with a liquor store. It's not. It's a beer store. That's why it resonates with me, as beer makes up 99% of my alcoholic beverage intake these days. So if you come here looking for boxed wine or vodka from a plastic bottle like the degenerate alchy you are, you won't find it. **EDIT: I was told they actually do sell some wine. I just didn't see it because I have beer tunnel vision.** The concept itself is great. It's an added bonus that they sell and serve really solid stuff. Of course that's subjective, but I'm confident the snobbiest of beer douches would respect this place. If you're into beer and plan on checking out some of Tinley Parks' beer destinations, it's imperative you check Open Bottle out. read more

Open Bottle is a craft beer one stop shop. Open Bottle is NOT a brewery; it's a craft beer shop which also has a bar where you can sit and drink many craft beers from their menu. I was enamored with the Imperial Doughnut Break, which tasted like a black iced coffee - but with beer. Pipeworks' Saison Sauvignon, a real tongue twister, was a refreshing brew made with sauvignon grapes. I love places that do not have the same old song and dance when it comes to beer. That Imperial is a whopping 11% - so after our third stop on our south suburban brew crawl, I was feeling GREAT. Open Bottle is located in a strip mall, and it's so clean, bright, and organized inside; completely unlike the dark, concrete jungle breweries in industrial parks or the big box feel of many liquor stores. Its greatness is its simplicity. One of the few establishments that has culture and stays true to its roots! Living down the street and seeing these guys open up I was sure to get there as soon as I could after they opened. My review is a beer only review. Owners are great - helpful, always willing to help you find something you might like. We had tickets on the bus to Dark Lord day but stopped in for one before the trip, CC machine was down and Patrick was about as apologetic as anyone. These things happen, so I paid cash...no big deal. Once back up and running he came up to me and offered to take my card and refund the cash - not necessary, but that's customer service man. Options - tons. Seemingly adding new stuff all the time. Prices - saw a review that said they are overpriced. They ARE NOT OVERPRICED. Maybe $1 over from one store on one product, but $1 under on another. They are fair. If you are in Tinley looking for beer, this is your place. Keep up the good work. read more

This place is amazing! The staff is so patient and he listened to my dad's favorite drinks (not just beers!) and helped me pick the perfect present based on those! The beer on tap was also delicious. The place is clean and organized and makes it very easy to see the different selections and options. And the best part: they let dogs in here! If you go into The Open Bottle and don't immediately love the owners, you're clearly Grumpy Cat in disguise. That's all there is to it. I don't fake being nice, especially when I've been boozing, and I thought they were wonderful! After being underwhelmed with that day's tap list at 18th Street, we decided to head to Tinley and do a little beer tour. After all was said and done and I asked "what was your favorite place?"...I had the same answer I was met with, "I liked them all, but for different reasons." Hands down, The Open Bottle is the best little beer shop I've been to in awhile and it has nothing to do with the fact they have 8 rotating taps. Well, it might have a liiiittle do to with that, but this shop is basically what I've dreamed of. It's easy to find a wine shop that sells beer and because wine is the specialty, shops can get away with charging a little more for the latter. Well, Open Bottle is the opposite of that. Also, if you know ANYTHING about craft beer, you'll know their prices were definitely competitive. Not a single thing was "over-priced" in my opinion. We came in, got a seat at the bar and were greeted right away. After browsing and ordering I asked about two beers. Patrick looked up the info for me and I decided to just get a 6-pack. The other beer I asked about is one that has been flying off the shelves, because it's so damn good. He told me they had some more after glancing towards the door. I didn't realize there was beer up there, so I thought maybe it was behind their bar. A few minutes later he came up and set the other 6-pack in front of me and said they had just sold the last one. Instead of being annoyed that he had to get the beer for me, he just went and did it because he saw they were low and knew we had asked about it. It would have been completely my fault if we missed out, but this is why I thought they were so great. I'm a sucker for great customer service and that's exactly what you'll get at The Open Bottle, plus, that little thing called beer. Again, they have 8 taps and you can purchase beer to drink there (but honestly, their draft selection is pretty awesome for a little beer shop). Living my ultimate beer dream. Love this shop! We're definitely planning on heading back soon, so if you're in or near Tinley, there is absolutely no reason not to stop in. read more

If Open Bottle was in Chicago I'd be in big trouble! If you love craft beer (or if you're just looking to branch out from Bud, a la my dad), you better get in here. I'll make this one short since most of the precious reviews sum up my sentiments, but here's a quick run down of what will bring me back in a heartbeat: Big, open space to shop the huge wall and displays without feeling crowded; bar inside with about eight beers on tap, plus a few high top tables where you can sit and play board games(!) -- find those in the corner; you can split up ANY four or six pack to try one before you buy all -- essentially, you can create endless combinations of six, or just buy one or two; lastly, if you find the selection to be overwhelming, tell 'em what you like and they'll give you a personalized selection. TLDR; consider Open Bottle a reason to head to the burbs. read more

I don't mind that the walk to get here from the Tinley Park Metra station(much of the walk is up or down Sayre Ave., mostly) to here is about 30 minutes, since this place is that great of a beer store. And I'm sure to take advantage a little bit of the lower Will County taxes, being on the south side of 183rd St(north side is 'Crook' County). :) Anyway, great staff who work here. The owner and wife who run this place(forget the guy's name, but that's who I've mostly talked to when here) are amazing and so great to talk to, when it comes to beer. I also love how you can both get beer to go or drink here(a la Beermiscuous), plus they do special events and tastings here from time to time. Natch that it's across the street from Culver's, one of my very favorite fast food chains. :) Absolutely worth the stop if you're a craft beer aficionado, and are passing through Tinley Park! read more

The only positive I can give is that they have a good selection of beer... however, RARE or Variant releases stay in the back for "regular" customers. I was in one day, asked about a VLAD Maple that they posted. I asked the staff and they said they were sold out. Then a gentleman walks in and calls the bartender by name and asks for a "Maple Vlad" and the guy goes to the back and brings it to him and rings him up. I ask after why he didn't sell it to me, and I received "sorry man." Beyond this, dogs coming in without leashes and arrogant staff is a bit normal. Been there 5 times now and I'm done. I'm a consumer willing to pay the same as anyone else and we all should have the same treatment as others. *additional note- the charge you to chill anything you buy there if you are drinking it there. Their fee to do this and open a single bottle or can $2 per. Cost me $8 to share a 4-pack with friends there. No other bottle shop does this. read more
