OVERRATED! I got the tri tip sandwich combo, and someone else from my party got a salad. Big serving but very plain and simply average. As a person who's lived in LA all their life, I definitely know what a good salad and ice cream taste like. The tea was disgusting. This was not it. We went on a busy Saturday afternoon. The cashier was less than friendly, slouching and yawning. It was our first time here so we ordered a shake. I expected a lot from their vegetarian sandwich because of the ingredients and the hype about this place. Instead, I was disappointed. The bread did not taste fresh and was chewy. It would be nice if they toasted their bread before making the sandwich. While there was an array of vegetables, they completely lacked texture. Even though separated, most of the vegetables were mushy. Imagine .....if you got the crunch from the cucumber, the lettuce, tomato, the carrots. None had it. Ordered the TriTip Combo. Before I could insert my credit card to pay the cashier spun her monitor around to me giving me a choice for multiple amounts for a TIP. She leaned forward, staring me in my eyes. I felt VERY UNCOMFORTABLE- She was pressuring me into a TIP - no waitress service. A $14.00 meal and the smallest recommended tip was over 3 dollars. NO WAITRESS service. I hit "custom amount" and left $1.00. My sandwich had minimal tri tip in it. It was more bread than meat. A small bag of chips and a canned soda was their combo. This is definitely worth a trip from Fresno. Takes a little over an hour to get here. Come early and watch the people from all walks of life pour into this little packing shed made over into a lunch place. There is an inside dining room and also lots of space out under the trees to enjoy your meal. The menu is very limited--a few sandwiches and a salad. You can grab a soda from the cooler or order the ice tea which is outstanding. The meal-deal is great. Sandwich, chips, drink, and ice cream for around $9. Everything is fresh, and the ice cream is the most wonderful stuff in the world. If you are coming from out of town, I recommend you bring a cooler with a few ice packs and take home their phenomonal ice cream. It's a cute little place. The ONLY thing worth getting here is their signature orange ice cream. The food is mediocre. I've been here several times and each time the sandwich lets me down. The give literally one slice of lettuce, one tomato, a few sprigs of onion and a scant of meat. It's never worth the price. Today was my last straw getting anything other than the ice cream. They seriously need to reevaluate their sandwich and how much they are giving their customers because it's not worth $14. This is such a sweet, delicious little place. We stopped by to try the orange milkshake, which we had heard good things about. Definitely a 5/5! Insanely refreshing and hit the spot. If you enjoy orange juice with pulp, you will probably enjoy this as well. The cafe itself is very small and quaint, so you will likely be around a pack of people, especially during high traffic times. We went around 3:30 P.M and there were about a dozen people there, so even then it was a little cozy. After hearing my friend whose a local rave about this place for years, I finally made it out here today. We spent the day yesterday at Sequoia National Park and before my long drive back to the bay today we just had to come here for a 'sweet ending'! Boy did this place not disappoint! We shared their classic orange ice cream and sat outside in their porch. I've never had orange flavored ice cream, but this was mind blowing! It was light like Pinkberry but creamy like a high quality freshly made ice cream. The orange flavor tasted like they had just squeezed the oranges which I found they grow locally. The sandwiches smelled heavenly but I was too full from breakfast. I definitely recommend coming here for lunch, brunch, dessert or a post hike treat. Not sure what happened but my family went to orange works on Saturday 11/2/19. It seemed the regular employees must've got shipped to the new Visalia location perhaps. Normally the food comes out really fast even when it was busy. Not too many customers around 1pm but food took really long to get out. We ordered tri tip, hot pastrami, and a vegetarian sandwich All the sandwiches were made hot!!! Tri tip was dry, vegetarian hot are you kidding me, and the pastrami was perfect. The only saving grace to keep this review 3 stars was the ice cream. We will never come back to this location So disappointing read more

We are regulars at Orange Works, as it's always been consistent; however, these last few times we've ordered Hot Pastrami sandwiches we've been disappointed. But this is just appalling. The only reason for one star is this... People kept telling me to try it so we found ourselves in Porterville and decided let's go. It was 3:56 pm when we walked thru the doors. All the chairs were stacked on the tables, everything put away and all the employees were standing together at the counter. Well they close at 4:00 but from what I described they definitely had closed earlier. Surprised, I asked are you already closed and they responded "well we close at 4:00". They offered us ice cream!!
