WEBSITE & BOOKING A ROOM: - Mapped out website to understand more about the inn & policies. - Easy to navigate, view room availability & select desired room. - Wonderful photos of each room with sq. ftg. noted. - Lots of information of what's around / things to do in the area. INNKEEPERS: - The level of communication is great. I had sent an email with additional questions & was answered timely. They also use a method of texting as well as leave their phone #'s. - We paid for a 12pm check-in & Dave greeted us. He gave a tour & a mini history lesson about the building, which was so interesting! - Kelleigh waited on us for breakfast & was delightful. She'd engage in quick conversation & swiftly served us each course. THE ROOM (#4 - PERMQUID POINT LIGHTHOUSE): - Super clean, cozy & romantic. - The queen bed was comfortable with many layers of sheets, a down comforter & quilt-like blanket on top. - The (2) chairs by the window served as a nice area for me & my husband to enjoy a beer from the "Big Brewstah" keg & chat. - There are robes with slippers which make the stay all the more comfortable. - The thermostat is programmed, but it's allowed to change the temperature. - There isn't a mini fridge in the room (not sure if there are in the other rooms). 3-COURSE BREAKFAST: - Served ONLY between 8am to 9am (as long as you arrive in that hour). They do ask if there are any dietary restrictions prior. - As previously mentioned, Kelleigh was our server & hostess. - The hot coffee is French pressed & packed with flavor. - Dave has some serious cooking skills & we appreciated the use of locally sourced, fresh ingredients. - It was a very filling & delicious menu that Dave creates uniquely for each morning. ADDITIONAL NOTES & TIPS: - The parking is a bit tight; there are (3) spots at the front of the inn or the overflow is at the end of the driveway. - Each room has a key & a deadbolt (which can only be locked from the inside). - Downstairs area, neighboring the dining room, there is a living room area with shelves of books & a few games. - The busy season for the Brewster House B&B is around the 4th of July.

The rooms are well appointed with updated bathrooms. The Inn is close to anything you might need to get to in Freeport. Breakfast was delicious as well! This inn provides all the cozy things ~ coffee available in the morning, a selection of other coffees and teas available via Keurig at other times. My only complaint is that the bedside lighting in our room isn't sufficient for reading. Mood lighting ~ check. Reading ~ you'll need to use your phone or a flashlight. Or, perhaps the intent of a B&B, read in the common room with your fellow guests.

What else can you ask for? Jay, the owner of the establishment, was an absolute delight! He and his family really make this inn feel as if you're staying at your favorite cousin's house as opposed to a hotel. It was the most perfect setting for a fun, kid, and dog-friendly celebration at the breathtaking Harpswell Lookout Point. At one point, as I was simply sitting in a rocking chair, gazing at the magnificent sea view, with birds chirping, kids' laughter echoing, and my dog peacefully by my side, I honestly felt like I was in a real-life "Calm Soundscape" - pure heaven. Harpswell Inn is truly a magical place. The lovely young couple who took over a few years ago have done an exceptional job preserving the traditional 1800s Maine vibe of the house while infusing it with modern, fun, and funky furniture. The staff, though a small and dedicated team, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I must give a special shout-out to Barbara, a true Harpswellonian, whose blueberry scones are absolutely divine! I even had a delightful small-town moment running into her aunt at the local Hannaford's in Brunswick. The thoughtful owners also provided a delicious continental breakfast, featuring locally roasted coffee, and offered kayaks and paddleboards for the more adventurous members of our group to enjoy. Our friends also inquired with Kelsey, the owner, about hosting a private chef for a special three-course meal. Kelsey went above and beyond, creating a gorgeous tablescape adorned with local flowers. She collaborated with a local private chef who focused on sourcing everything locally. Our culinary journey began with fresh oysters featuring traditional fixings and an amazing yuzu orange sauce, alongside a gorgeous cheeseboard as appetizers. Our three-course meal then commenced with a delightful tuna tartare salad with fried capers, followed by perfectly cooked NY Strip steak with garlicky chimichurri sauce, huge, delicious scallops, and incredible focaccia bread. The meal concluded with a delightful and refreshing key lime pie. The owners were also kind enough to arrange a separate, equally delicious meal for the kids, featuring a fun crunchy salad, mac and cheese, and brownie bites (yes, I tried it all!). If I could convince our group of friends to make this an annual tradition, and we could secure our spot early enough with the kind owners, I would absolutely make Harpswell Inn our go-to destination every 4th of July. If you have allergies to, or low tolerance for construction dust, choose another location. Otherwise: The new rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Front desk is polite and efficient. Breakfast is at 6am and always very good. We have stayed here many times in the past 10 years with no issue. Would suggest for an acceptable room at a fair price. It's not fancy but it's clean and comfortable perfect for a layover. Giving full stars because the renovations will end in a few months.

Rooms are reasonably large and the bed is comfortable though the humidity inside the rooms can be a high. There is also an exercise room and vending machines as well. The parking lot is fairly large and there are priority spots in the front as well as a much larger lot in the back. The breakfast options here are fairly good with eggs and sausage every morning as well as waffle makers. There are also cereal, yogurt, fruit, and other pastry options in addition to juices and coffee. Overall a reasonable place to stay if you're visiting the Brunswick area.
