This place is a hidden gem. So glad we found it (thanks Check Please! Arizona). Amazing food, outstanding customer service as well. And, always consistent! My family has been coming to Blue Adobe for a few years now, and it never fails to disappoint. Some suggestions as to what to order... When I am here, I'm usually always here for the Mexican food. So, I have to admit I haven't gotten around to trying their other types of food like the pizzas, sandwiches etc. Drink: I've had both their Mesa margarita as well as their Blue Sky margarita. Both are good, but I prefer the Mesa margarita. You get flavor options with the Mesa margarita. I suggest either strawberry, or an all time favorite, prickly pear. Appetizer: They will bring you chips and salsa upon being seated. Their chips are to die for!! Salsa is great too. However, if you are looking for an appetizer to try, I would highly recommend the Queso Blanco. It is warm, creamy and simply delicious! (Not very spicy, which is good news if you're a mild fan like me). Bonus is you get more warm chips with your Queso Blanco order! Entree: I am usually a pretty basic gal who loves chimichangas. This used to be my go-to when coming here. I would get mine with shredded beef. It was always good. However, I branched out and tried the stacked enchiladas with shrimp and OMG. The shrimp is pecan smoked and has that amazing smokey flavor while keeping the shrimp tender. I cannot recommend this menu item enough. It's always so hard to try different things when you have a favorite, but I will eventually get around to trying more of their delicious dishes here at Blue Adobe. read more

We have talked about eating here for literally years but their location never seemed to work for us. My husband and I finally ate there last night and we loved it! Don't let the old Village Inn building on the outside fool you- it's cute and quaint on the inside! We started with a cheese crisp and the complimentary chips and salsa which were both great. The cheese crisp was fresh and cheesy and not greasy. Their house made salsa is delicious- not too spicy but not too sweet. Their menu had more than just the usual tacos and enchiladas so we decided to branch out- I ordered the chorizo and fontina chicken and my husband had a steak that was featured on one of the chalkboard signs displayed throughout the restaurant. Both our meals were beautifully presented, full of flavor, and delicious! I was a bit disappointed with the margarita- it was pretty weak and a bit watered down but didn't take away from our great experience. We can't wait to come back and try something else! Everything was so delicious. Marcy kept commenting how good everything was. I had the chicken chorizo special and Marcy had the Land of Enchantment which had chicken enchilada, beef tenderloin steak and grilled shrimp. This was our first time here I can highly recommend this place. I had the chorizo stuffed chicken it was very delicious, my wife had the chimichanga it also was very good nice spices. The service is very good we didn't have to wait for water refills and to get our food was very quick and it was hot. It has a nice atmosphere not too loud. read more

We had an excellent experience (first time) at The Original Blue Adobe Grille. From the moment we walked in, any staff we interacted with were helpful, upbeat and knowledgeable about the menu. Our waiter was fantastic. She was attentive, took her time with us and prompt. I can't say enough about the food! We started with the Ancho Rubbed Salmon Wraps. I love salmon but was a bit skeptical of this appetizer... Salmon in a lettuce wrap? It was so flavorful! Next came the Silver City Spinach salad. The raspberry vinaigrette made the salad pop with flavor. BTW: We split the salad and had plenty. The serving sizes are large enough to share. For the main, I had the Carne Adovada and loved every bite. The red chile adobo sauce was amazing and brought the dish together. The prices are reasonable too. We'll be back for sure! read more

This is a nice New Mexican restaurant. When it comes to New Mexican food I usually order there enchiladas to test for authenticity. Not only do they have hatch green chili but they also offer a over easy egg on top as that is how most New Mexicans eat their enchiladas. I recommend the gem chili chicken enchiladas with over easy egg on top. The beverages are fantastic. You should probably order the full carafe because tube libations are that wonderfully mixed. The beans are whole as opposed to smashed and mixed together with lard as at most Mexican restaurants. The salsa was not overwhelmingly hot or spicy. Really none of the food is overly spicy. I really love this restaurant, such a great place to get New Mexican food. They use a blue for chip that is thick and crispy with a great salsa, be sure to pace yourself and not get full be for the meal. We really have enjoyed most of their food, plenty of great options. They do tenderloin well, so watch for that as an option. What I really go for is their Amaretto sauce. It is a sweet cream that my catch you off guard at first but once you get started it is hard to get enough of it. I usually replace most of their sauces with the Amaretto. Be sure to ask for extra, just can't get enough of it. We have never left disappointed, great food and friendly staff. It can be a bit of a wait so be prepared for that on a busy night. read more

We continue to return to this restaurant each time we're in Scottsdale b/c my husband thinks the Garlic Shrimp pizza is to die for. Nothing has changed in all the years and he still loves it. Had not been to the Blue Adobe Grille for years but remembered it had good food back in the day but was very noisy. We went Friday night and noticed they had added partitions inside to cut the noise level which helped some. As for the food, have never gotten such bad Mexican food! They brought it to the table saying to be careful the plates were very hot. Not sure why they said that as the food was lukewarm? Do they heat the plates hoping it heats the food? There were three of us, and ALL THREE had stomach problems after eating what we could of the meal. My pork dish was served with beans that had to have been cooked last week as they were so dried out as was the rice. The pork itself was predominately filled with large pieces of fat. One had a chicken burrito and it was chunks of dried cubed chicken, not pulled chicken as most burritos are, and the cheese on the burrito was so miniscule, it was barely noticeable. Third person eating was a 16 year old boy who eats anything and he ordered the chicken pizza and left half of it. Did NOT even want to take the rest home so gives you some idea of how bad it was. Server was accommodating but took a long time for the cheese crisp appetizer to come to the table. Who puts canned green chilis on a cheese crisp and not the real thing?? Poor excuse for a Mexican restaurant. A big crowd but I am thinking they come for the alcohol and not the food? Will not return. read more

2nd time here and it was just okay. Our server Keefe was polite and provided good service but was spread too thin on this busy Saturday lunch crowd. They didn't seem to have enough staff to fill waters, offer more chips and salsa. We waited so long for everything especially our meals. Two orders for cheese crisps were ordered and one was so incredible greasy that it needed to be taken away as it made my daughter sick. She also ordered kids chicken strips and the had an unusual breading and a terrible taste. We informed our server and he was very apologetic and offered to remove both items from our bill. Just disappointed this time around. The food seemed to be just tossed on plates and the presentabilty was lacking. This is the second time in a row I was poorly treated by the hostess (2 different hostesses). About 2 months ago my husband and I came to eat with friends. The hostess was not Inviting at all. She seemed very annoyed that we were there. So my husband and I sat at the bar and got a drink before our friends Got there. Once our friends got there, we we're ready to be seated. I had asked if we could sit at a table that faces a TV. The hostess told me no! The place was not that busy so I don't see why it would have been a problem. Then she sat us in the back corner by the bathroom. I was upset but let it go. Tonight, similar story different hostess named Stephanie. My husband and I walk in for dinner and the hostess again seemed very annoyed that she had to deal with customers. She put our name on the list and told us 20 to 30 minutes. They were very busy. After about 30 minutes I asked the hostess about how much longer for us to be seated. She got so frustrated with me and didn't even look at the paper to see where we were placed, and told us "I don't know"! " you're a walk-in and reservations come first"! I told her that we had been waiting for over 30 minutes when she had previously told us 20 to 30 minute wait. Then she said " I don't know what to tell you". Now I do realize that reservations come first. How she said it was very condescending. And not how you should treat your customers. Last week I had ordered to go food. I had ordered stuffed Chile Riano's that was supposed to have Meat in it. The food was awful. Was definitely not the same. There was no meat in my Chile Riano just a ton of cheese. I'm very disappointed in this restaurant and how they are treating their customers. I did call management tonight and complain about their hostess and how we walked out. I don't think anything will be done about it but if you want to be treated like crap definitely the place to go read more

She was unable to show us this wording on the menu. She began calling us retarded, slow and stupid once she was unable to prove her claim. She decided threatening us with the police was the right thing to do. She decided after owner said to let it go to begin calling us race and weight slurs. This establishment is one of the best in Arizona! New Mexican food is unique and as a native New Mexican this restaurant hits the mark perfectly. The Carne Adovada is the best! That said, everything we have tried is excellent. Chips and Salsa are fantastic too. I would never deduct a star as it seems to be tradition with all Arizona "New Mexican" restaurants to not provide hot sopapillas with the meal, but that would truly make it traditional. Awesome food, not your ordinary Mexican food, this is New Mexican food! The salsa and chips are delicious and smoky and delicious change from the ordinary! The mushroom enchiladas were unbelievable as was the Chimichangas. The chorizo stuffed chicken was unbelievable,moist tender chicken so very flavorful it's so delicious, the only flaw was the carrots could have been cooked a few minutes longer.
