I was in the area so I swung by last night and was looking forward to it since I haven't been here. Yes I was part of that group what visited the original location in Little Village. I went with 2 dogs (everything of course) and a standard Diet Coke. Well the dog tastes the same and the fries (albeit a bit greasy) are amazing! They are fresh cut and we're salted perfectly! Chickies has one of the best beefs in Chicagoland. We get it with both their hot peppers and traditional giardinera. Hot dogs are amazing. Steak sandwich is delicious, pizza is very good, but most important save room for Italian Ice. Always friendly over there the staff and the owners. We love that they have the bidder store with more tables and we love the decor. They have a banquet room next door and you can host a plethora of parties or events there. Highly recommend. read more

My friend took me here to try the place out. I like it. I got an Italian beef, dipped, fresh peppers, fries and an Italian ice. My first impression was where's the beef? But the meat some how was on the bottom after a few bites I realized that. The beef has very good flavor and the fresh celery, bell peppers and jalepeno some how compliments the beef but I would have loved giardenera peppers to cut some of the fattyness. I purchased aa beef with mozzarella and peppers for $11.89 I guess the 16oz coke was $3 they don't give you an itemized receipt. Overall 3 stars for the beef service just ok. Excellent pizza. I ordered two servings of the slice of sausage. The cashier looked at me the "are you sure look" and I told her yes. You really only need one serving. One serving contains two huge sliced. The food came quickly. The soda fountain had the right amount of fizz. I will be back to try the fried dough. Had both the beef and the pizza highly recommend both. Also very friendly service which is a plus. Owner is also there and makes sure things are right. These days that's a big bonus. Prices are also very reasonable you get a beef for 7.95, standard, good amount of beef. What's makes them on the cheaper side of reasonable Is a big bag of fries and a drink for 3.75 more, not many places left that you can get out the door for under 15 bucks including both type of peppers! Their food was so-so. We ordered cheeseburgers and and Italian beef sandwiches. Also ordered their fried dough. The fries and onion rings we ordered came in bags that were soaked through with the oil they were fried in. The cheeseburger wasn't that exciting. The Italian beef was lackluster. They made the fried dough after they had our sandwiches, fries and onion rings bagged up. So when we got home our food was cold but the fried dough was hot. read more

I've heard so many good things about Chickies beefs but never made it to the original location on Pulaski. They've been around forever and relocated to Roosevelt with a nice new building and a super convenient drive-thru. Parking lot is massive with easy in and out access.. My sis has been to this location and recommended stopping here for a late lunch since we were in the area & starving. She spoke highly of their Italian beefs, but I knew I had to taste this for myself. We don't share the same taste buds.. Staff was really friendly and welcoming. Even after dealing with a pita customer in front of us claiming she didn't get her fries (when it was in the bag the entire time), our server maintained her cool. She even offered me a free drink...it was a lucky kind of day. Ordered two juicy, wet beefs with sweet peppers and order of fries. While my beef was piled high and hefty, hers was on the anorexic side. Not horribly anorexic, but not as beefy as mine (told ya I was having a lucky day). First bite in was salty, then bite after bite I was searching for more flavor. Not all bites were created equal. Nicely shaved, thin beef but a little dry. They dipped my sandwich as requested and it got messy. Bread was falling apart. Speaking of the bread, they use Gonnella. I like Gonnella but might be more a Turano fan. I felt the bread wasn't screaming 'fresh'. It was ok. Green peppers weren't abundant, but cooked nicely and definitely was needed for more flavor. Next time I'll get the giardinera. I ate a 1/4 and the fat lady sang. Gotta watch the fat intake folks! Overall, I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't knock my socks off. This isn't a beef I'd crave. But - their hand cut fries?!!! Those were really good! Skinnier and shorter, than say Gene & Jude's and not at all mushy. Big bag is enough to share. Tender potatoey bite and nicely golden fried. Had the watermelon Italian ice and a hot dog. I was mediocre. The service was decent. Not a place I would go out of my way to visit again.

Had the pizza which could have been very good but was so dry cause it must have been sitting there for quite some time under the heat lamps so the sauce had pretty much dried up. We've had it before and it was excellent just a little disappointing today. Also had the ravioli which was very good and the beef which was of course off the charts excellent. Can't wait to go back. Best beef around I think and we love Buona and Portillo's a lot but I think Chickies has a slight edge over to other two. read more

I want to like this place more but they are just too inconsistent for me. Over the last year I have had both good and (mostly) bad items from them. But when it's bad, it's bad! The salads are my favorite thing on the menu. The steak one and the chicken one. Very good and served with bruschetta. The fries are really good too. The stuff that they should be good at, they are not. Their Italian beef sandwiches are bland and very, very greasy. If you want it dipped, you are getting a grease sponge with no seasoning. The people making them must not stir the "juice" before they dip it, so you are basically getting the grease that floats at the top and none of the seasoning that falls to the bottom. It's a huge mistake. I could only take a few bites of the one I got today and threw it away. My hands were covered in grease. Gross. The Italian sausage is, again, bland and they don't make em right. They look barely cooked. They should go to Portillo's and buy one for comparison and see for themselves. The sweet peppers, no seasoning and bland. I see a lot of positive reviews for them here but I just don't see it. They have to get more consistent and look at each item and be honest with themselves. If the owner of that place saw the beef sandwich that I was served today I'm 100% sure he would be grossed out. Except it was that way in the past too! First thing to report is that this place serves hand cut fries. Inside was clean and order came out fast and hot . Portions are great considering that the food seems pricey. We tried the Italian beef as this place was listed as one of the best places to try on Chicago Eater. Beef was sliced thin and it came out piping hot. Meat had some fatty bits and lacked spices in the juice. Overall , just ok. I recommend the fries !!! read more

My family loves Chickies. Its some great bready pizza and you get a LOT when you order a "slice". The pepperoni is hands down the best. Usually my mom and I will order a slice of pepperoni and a meatball salad (yes you read that right) and go halfsies on each. The meatball salad comes with the best vinaigrette and bruschetta topping, but there's some lettuce so you still feel a little healthy. If you're in the mood for something sweet, you HAVE to try the cannoli milkshake (or just the cannoli). It's a vanilla shake with cannoli and small chocolate chips mixed in and topped with an empty shell. It's an amazing cheat day meal. I, unfortunately, haven't had the same beef experience as everyone else, it just seems average to me. I ordered a simple pizza online in light of the current situation. The confirmation said pickup at 503pm. When I arrived on time it appeared the order was not even being made. The girl working the counter pulled the receipt off the machine and ran in back to the chef then came out and let me know it would be another 10 mins. Another 20 minutes later, now 525pm my pizza came out. I asked what happened and I was told that it takes 45 mins to make a pizza. It was just their regular pan pizza. When I explained that the website said 503pm pick up she told me that the website is wrong and that it's usually an additional 20-25mins from the pick up time stated upon order confirmation. Just so I am understanding this correctly- it takes 45 mins to make a regular pan pizza and the website tells the wrong pick up time by 20+ minutes? I like to give businesses the benefit of the doubt but being it's during the stay at home order but it wasn't exactly crazy busy with orders or they didn't appear to be short staffed either with 3 employees working up front. It's hard for me to even justify this. It's unfortunate that during this time there's such bad service happening when a simple apology and truthful answer would have been perfectly acceptable. There's plenty of other local businesses I would rather support at this time. I don't plan on returning and hope they sort this out. read more

Love this family run local business -- their food is so good, my parents even claim their beef is better than Portillos! The cannoli shake is SUPER good, albeit huge. They also have fried dough with a cannoli dipping "sauce" that is AMAZING. I typically get a beef, plain cheeseburger (think gourmet McD's), or a hot dog stuffed with fries. They also have pizza, but if you want by the slice it's a gamble what's available or how fresh. If they're out they are happy to make more. The staff juggle a lot of tasks at once, but are still personable and kind. I lost my phone once about a year ago and stopped back thinking I left it in the dinning room, where the owner himself helped me search. Just good people making good food. read more

We eat at Chickies and love their chicken salad. I am writing one star, not for the food, but for their false advertisement. Over 6 months of changing prices and not updating or complying with the prices on their menu. The service is awful and rude. They have told me for over 6 months that they were getting a new sign, which is fine. But, they have not indicated any of the new prices on the drive thru menu. Even when I try to order on Doordash, the menu is still the old menu. Their is a written sign on the drive thru menu that prices have been updated, yet it's not the one shown. They do not price adjust for the false advertisement. The salad has been a different price every time I have picked up. Inconsistant and false advertising with their employees having bad attitudes. Updating review due to giving it another go. The mozzarella sticks are still delicious. The chicken tenders are definitely worth ordering as I've enjoyed them a few times after my 1st visit.
