It is with tremendous sorrow that my colleagues and I had our very last "work" luncheon at Hog Wilds today as they are losing their lease 2/1/25 Unfortunately, and unbelievably, their lease was not renewed by a family trust/relative! Bryan Pikorz it has been a privilege literally to support an establishment that serves high-quality food with a smile - polite and friendly people always, reasonably priced AND ALWAYS DELICIOUS! I hope they find a location nearby and reopen soon. Friday special today was a delicious fish sandwich!!!!! I purchased to go the Hog Combo (1/2 slab & Pork Chop) and two Chops. I will miss this quaint spot. Ok a postscript: There may be a restaurant there 2/1/25 but it will not be The Original Hog Wild. "The Midlothian building is listed in a trust in the family's name. Pikorz said he is not included in that trust, leading to his leasing the space from a relative. The relative has now decided not to renew the lease, and instead plans to open the same or similar business under a new name and different leadership, Pikorz said." Do not bite!!!! read more

Late post Hubby and I finally made our way here. We ordered takeout so I am unable to comment about the ambiance and service. When we arrived in the lot, it was pretty packed and I feel that that says a lot about how good their barbecue is. We ordered the tip and pulled pork dinners. For our sides, we chose fries and coleslaw. We enjoyed everything, especially the baked beans. Sorry I don't have pictures to show, but it was a late day for us and we were hungry. It was our first time here at Hog Wild and since I am a vegetarian, I know this is not the place for me but I still wanted to give it a try. I know it is all about the pulled pork, BBQ meat but I wanted to check the place out for the ambiance and I'm glad I did. You order your food at the register and then they'll give you a number and they bring the food out to your table which was pretty easy. I ordered the portabella Mushroom sandwich, my hubby ordered the shrimp dinner and my little guy got the cheese hot dog and it was all pretty darn good. I've been coming here for years and for the longest time they only took cash, but now they take debit and credit! The food never disappoints, the barbecue sauce is the best. Also, one side of the restaurant they have an aquarium I didn't take a picture of it but it's so awesome. read more

This place was delicious. The ordering process was easy and well organized. It may seem it was a long line but it wasn't. There were more people doing carry out. The place wasn't bright but the room decor was filled. A few tvs and employees bustling around, serving, cleaning and helping. When I got to the table someone came by to ask if I wanted bbq sauce. I said yes. They must keep tabs on the bottles because as soon as we were done someone came and picked it up right away. We ordered the pork chop dinner and beef brisket dinner. The pork chop dinner came with 2 chops and a few pieces of bread. The chops were thick and tender and delicious. The sides were simple but also good. The beef brisket was sliced thin. It was a couple ounces but didn't seem like much meat. It came with a piece of corn, 2 pieces of garlic toast and the sides I wanted. This was plenty to eat but wished the brisket were thicker slices or had a little more meat. I will be back to try other things but glad to have made it here. read more

Well known BBQ restaurant in the far south suburbs. Their BBQ dishes are all good. I got the rib tips and liked them. I did try something different the next time I went, and tried the ribeye steak burrito. It wasn't bad, but not on par with their other signature dishes. It's best I'd say to stick to the more traditional barbeque dishes. All the sides I've tried have all been good too-the fries, the curds, the mac n cheese. The inside is nice, a good western decor. Your order at the counter, and then they bring the food out to you. A pretty big parking lot so that shouldn't be an issue. Went with a large group of family members to celebrate a birthday. I ordered the ribeye dinner special and my husband ordered a full slab of ribs dinner. They asked what side we wanted and I asked for Mac and cheese, for my soup the cream of chicken, and a baked potato. The hubby had red potatoes and Mac n cheese. Mac and cheese lacked any real flavor tasted bland. But the kicker was they charged each side as additional charge to the dinner price which was suppose to be included. I have seen this place for years and never stopped by to try it, but today was the day! I ordered the grilled pork chop and it came with two sides. The pork chop was grilled to perfection and juicy. It was probably the thickest and juiciest pork chop I've ever had. The red potatoes were delicious. I wasn't a fan of the green beans, but they have other sides to choose from. They were bland to me to be honest. Their service is amazing. They must always have pork chops on the grill because I received my order about 2 minutes after placing my order. The food was hot, so it wasn't like it had been sitting there for awhile. It was definitely fresh. The inside is pretty large in size, but it's very dark inside. I think they have got too big for their britches. I had a pork chop sandwich which I hadn't had in quite a while, terrible....this used to be their claim to fame. The food here was absolutely terrible. We got the BBQ platter - as our sides we got cole slaw, baked beans, and a twice baked potato. The platter came with brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. Starting with the meats. The brisket was shaved thin and extremely fatty. It should be a crime to treat brisket like that. The pulled pork was dry and literally drowning in BBQ sauce - it was disgusting. The ribs were also extremely dry. The service was lacking. You walk in and move through a fast line all while looking at a menu posted on the wall behind you to figure out what you want. Was in town for a paintball tournament. As always after watching and playing, me and the team need to curve our appetites. One of our guys was sorta local coming from Hammond, IN and recommended this place. Sometimes you can tell how good a restaurant is by its decor and it's occupancy. Both didn't disappoint. So we were at a Parish party, and Hog Wild was the caterer ... and they were a wonderful choice. Catering to large parties - even Parish parties - can be problematic, but these guys carried it off perfectly. Our little party (a bit over 300 party goers) focused for dinner on just the signature pork chops - 2" thick or so - and OMG (pun intended) good. They make these chops done well and still juicy, and the BBQ sauce that they provide just tops the delight. We have been to Hog Wild in the past, so we can support their other offerings, but the pork chop is a stand out. Their pulled pork (4 stars) is also amazing. Some of the best we have eaten.
