OPH - new to Avon and now in the old Hecks building!! we came during Sunday morning after church rush, and we only waited about 12-20mins!! Our server was speedy but gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted. For 3 of us we decided to split two dishes and that was definitely enough food (if you DONT want to take home leftovers). We tried the huevos rancheros and the Jose scramble - both came out hot and delicious!! The salsas paired well with both dishes and truly no complaints! Best server ever!!! Energy and positivity abound. Her name is Syladys ( Sylvia and Gladys - her aunts. Her mom was in a no win situation and made to a win-win situation). The breakfast was what I hoped for. Huge fluffy pancakes. (3). A huge plate of sausage gravy and biscuits. A nice amount of sausage so you don't have to hunt for it. 3.8 Newly opened in Avon. Food was delicious & that is the reason for the entire score. All 4 meals were really good! Kudos to the chef! Will be back because of you! Unfortunately, our waitress seemed more bothered than anything; no smiling, had to ask twice for more coffee. When I ordered the Dutch Baby, she said "You know that takes 20 minutes. Giving it a three stars cause my food was good, but the service was horrible. We arrived on Mother's Day at 11:00 AM, my mom needs gluten free as she has health issues if she has gluten. They advised they were out of GF batter already. We asked if they could do a substitute for her and the waitress said they could not. You assume with someone with health issues, they would want to treat their customers better. My fiance asked for over easy eggs on his hash and you can see the photo, it came as scrambled. There was also six of us and the waitress only left two straws and said she would get more and never did. My food was delicious and I personally would go back but I advise if you have a GF allergy, do not go there as they likely won't have it. read more

Woohoo! It's finally open! Located in the old Heck's building (don't worry, Hecks just moved to the old MELT building), OPH is situated next to Mitchell's, the parking lot entrance is a little tucked away. Expect the same great menu as the other OPH locations. There are about 32 differently sized tables and a three bench waiting area. The building is large and spacious. At the time of writing this review, I believe they're finishing their first five week days open. The servers are still getting into their groove. Please give them grace. I noticed that my gluten free chocolate chip pancakes were a different price on the bill than on the menu. I informed the server and she was able to fix it but said that the problem was in the computer itself. Just check the bill. I ordered my bacon well done, and it said "extra crispy" on the bill. It was a little too done for me, but I preferred that to the floppy and fatty strips . Maybe just crispy would be better. My chocolate chip gluten free pancakes were tasty enough, though not as soft as I'm used to from the other locations. I get it, they're still learning. Good food but bad service. All of the servers looked angry to be there and our server only came to take order and then immediately dropped off check with order and never came back. Was never offered a high chair and even when I asked for one, it never came. The worst part was that there seemed to be oil covering the floors throughout so it was like walking on an ice rink..... won't return to this location read more

I think what makes these locations so interesting compared to the old IHOP locations is the service. The food is down home, rock solid flavors that really hit home for breakfast. The pancakes here are great. If you're comparing them to IHOP the only downside is the butter is a bit off, but very similar. The trimmings are all better though. The service though is always a hit. Rarely do you find a chain that has constantly good wait staffs even during the rush and the two locations I've been to yet have been awesome. That will keep me coming back. read more

Love the original pancake house and so happy it's in Avon. We always have a great satisfying breakfast when here. The giant omelettes with side of pancakes is a huge portion and I always have another meal or two from leftovers. Particularly love the western omelette, corned beef hash or standard breakfast. Double check your order, I went there to get my wife a pecan pancake.... The girl was so proud she put the carry out bag together and everything was in it, even extra syrup. It was checked off on the receipt.... Only thing NOT in the bag was the pancake. Wtf. So frustrating.... I get up early to do something sweet for my wife.... I was looking forward to this because the menu looked spectacular, but I can honestly say that I will NEVER go back. The server was nice but bad, she disappeared for long stretches of time, never asked if our food was good or correct (I didn't receive my pancakes until we were done eating because she never came back to check) asked how we wanted the bill then got it wrong and was just overall not good. The food.... out of 3 people only one person's food was decent. My cousin had an omelet that was brown on the outside and she said it was very dry. She ordered grits which were the worst any of us had ever had (boiled with no seasoning and came from a pot that was obviously burnt on the bottom), I had southern eggs Benedict which was dry because they poached the eggs over hard so I had zero runny yolk, that's not how I ordered them, and the potatoes were seasoned well but hard in the middle. When she finally brought out the bacon pancakes they were super crispy on one side and the bacon on the edge tasted like jerky which leads me to believe since they forgot to bring them out they threw them back on the griddle to warm up or something. Overall just not good. The bill wasn't bad but I'd rather pay a little more for food I'd actually eat. read more

Food was good with large portions, enough to take home for another meal. The service , on the other hand, was atrocious. I was the first patron on Tuesday morning, was seated, and waited a good 5 minutes before my waitress came and said I'll be with you in a minute. Returned several minutes later telling me she had to heat the syrups and they almost burned. I asked for coffee and water which took another several minutes. Finally got those and placed my order. Many minutes later I was served. Had to beg for a coffee refill. I was there a good hour and a half plus when the busser finally asked me if I needed anything, coffee or anything? Yes. I had asked for a box. He brought me a box but I still didn't have my bill. Several minutes later she finally returned with my bill. For context, besides me there was a man and child who came and went, a table of 4 arrived about halfway through my time, and a group of 8 who arrived shortly before I left.
