    Add chocolate chips to pancakes

Came here on a Friday at 1030, there was a good amount of parking, no wait, and they didn't have anything that was sold out. This is the 2'nd time I've been here and this time was definitely better than last time! I feel like they have a better menu and not everything is Ala cart anymore, thank goodness! Service was great and restaurant was very much a breakfast/brunch place. Food was good!

Food: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 The good, the food! Long list ahead, my apologies: pecan waffles, Irish omelette, pumpkin pancakes, bacon waffles, banana Nutella crepes, cornflake French toast (added bananas) and pumpkin pancakes. We thought with the ratings the food wasn't going to be good, but everything had good flavor. The only one of issue was the Irish omelette, it was INSANELY dry, flavor was there but DRY. The pecan waffles had an orange marmalade syrup that complimented well, the cornflake texture on the French toast was "5/5 amazing" according to daughter 1 that had it. Pancakes were fluffy with a good buttermilk flavor, all was well executed. The bad/indifferent, the service. This was barely above ok, did their jobs and were somewhat nice about it. Our original server was a little on the rude side, but whatever, we ended up with a different one who was a lot nicer once we moved tables (they were understanding of the table move, we were right inside the door originally) Overall, food was good, would go back for that. The service...? Eh, we'll ignore it for now.

Ordered my breakfast to go, all I had was their online menu to use as reference. When I got my food I noticed there was no bacon with it. While their menu photo shows the dish I ordered with it, when I ate here years before it always came with it but now it's gone from the item description. No apologies from the management. Your store is greedy, the shrinkflation is atrocious and telling of how the Puyallup OPC is operated and they value Pennie's over customers and creating real value with honest menus and offerings. My brothers CFS was so thin I don't even know if there was even chicken between the breading. Avoid this place at all costs. Goto Blackbear diner! Better quality, more value and they don't hate their customers.

Service: 10/10 very polite and friendly. Ambiance: 10/10 very family friendly restaurant. You can hear laughter, chitter chatter, babies crying and laughing in the air. Sounds like family time to me. Food: 8/10 Good food, but can get it just about anywhere. Nothing too special. Pancakes 10/10 fire, just fire

Veggie Bowl (no eggs or Hollandaise)

We had a wonderful breakfast here! We managed to time it perfectly, because we walked right up and got a table for two. We have waited a long time for a table in the past, and many people who came after us had a wait, as well. We did wait a bit long for our food, but we weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't a big deal. I'm a vegan, so I asked if they had any vegan options and our server said no, everything was made with eggs and milk (I clarified he was talking about the pancakes). They had a veggie bowl on the menu, so I ordered that with the eggs and Hollandaise on the side for my husband. I also got some dry marbled rye, which were nice, thick slices. The bowl was really good! It hand seasoned potatoes, broccoli, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and spinach. My husband got the chicken-fried steak, which was almost as big as the plate! It came with a side of pancakes, and he added potatoes. He thoroughly enjoyed his food, as well. The women's bathroom needed a little attention, but it wasn't terrible. Our server and the drink attendants were very attentive. Our glasses and mugs were filled regularly. It was a great breakfast.

This place gets a SOLID 2.5 not necessarily a 3. First Ill start w/ the good because positivity is important lol. 1.) Bacon was EXCELLENT thick cut & flavorful 2.) All 3 kids LOVED their pancakes 3.) Server was delightful but not great. Now the bad 1.) Ambiance - maybe it was just where I was sitting but the place is ultra dark but allows an insane amount of natural light in. The two contrasted and caused nausea w/ minor headache, so I was forced to wear sunshade in side, it completely ruined my mood & experience. 2.) No one liked their eggs, and we all got them made differently, which tells me the one making the eggs didn't specialize in eggs. 3.) After a long while looking over the menu and zeroing in on what I was going to eat, I chose the Country Bowl substitute Chicken Sausage for Ham and she said no they dont allow modifications. 4.) Because everyone had placed their orders I was forced to just order on the fly. I chose something I figured they can't mess up which is bacon & eggs. Which I could've cooked at home for much cheaper than I was charged. And I wasn't even in the mood for that. 5.) After ordering bacon & eggs the delightful waitress recommended I get a waffle as well, I asked to add Chocolate Chip which in my mind would've been spread around the Waffle instead it was clumped down. I was charged extra for the waffle & the chocolate lol 6.) Inflation is kicking all of our butts so I get the need to charge more but 20/meal is crazy. With those prices I do expect better everything.

Always wanted to try this place out but was disappointed by the food. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Seated fairly quickly on a weekend day, late lunch time. Super happy waitress that checked on us often. Coffee served in cute and sturdy custom branded mugs. But sadly the pancakes were smaller than I'm used to at most brunch places nowadays, and somewhat dry. It doesn't have much flavor in its own either. The omelet is unique looking like it came out of some special half circle shaped cast iron but I think this process made it dry too. The Swiss cheese used in my vegetarian omelette was also not a good choice. It is rubber and doesn't melt. With many outstanding local breakfast places nearby, unfortunately OHP won't be a regular for us.

It has been quite awhile since the wife and I stopped in for breakfast at OPH. We were able to join the waitlist while in route and by the time we got there we were seated within 3-5 minutes. The table and floor beneath had just been thoroughly cleaned and our server Rae quickly greeted us. She delightfully took our drink order and gave us some time to look over the menu. I settled on the biscuits no gravy and the wife went with strawberry pancakes. On a busy Saturday morning, we anticipated the 15-ish minute wait for our meals. The food was seriously delicious and Rae made our experience so very pleasant. To that affect, all of the staff were super kind and attentive. It was really great to see. With how popular this restaurant is, you can imagine it gets loud when they're busy and some patrons let their kids run around like feral cats. Pack your patience... the food and service is worth is.

Dutch Baby and Chicken Apple Link Sausage
    Julie B.

A family style restaurant, The Original Pancake House is similar to those other family style restaurants (iHop/Denny's) but in my opinion better. The restaurant was bustling and all the employees had smiles on their faces, helpful and happy. Our waiter was knowledgeable not only with the menu, but also the city of Puyallup engaging and taking time in a nice conversation. We found the place clean and inviting. I ordered the Dutch Baby as I do each time I visit. Perfectly made, with butter, powdered sugar and lemon on the side. I'm glad I added the side of Chicken Apple sausage. Closing time is 2pm.

Yes! I'm a vegan, and I order the veggie bowl with the eggs and hollandaise on the side (I give them to my husband). I also order a side of flour tortillas and salsa, and make them breakfast tacos. 😊

Really lots of empty tables but a staff that seemed to not care or we finally had mastered the power of invisibility. Finally someone motioned just a minute. Like 5 minutes wasn't enough. So we got a table and reviewed the menu. We decided on a simple breakfast. Eggs, bacon, coffee, toast etc.... Simple right? It took 5 minutes to get two cups of coffee. Then we waited. Remember it was not very busy. Server was nice but nothing about sorry your wait was so long. Nothing! Well the two breakfast dishes (scrambled eggs and sunny side up eggs) still were a no show. And we like crisp bacon but not overly cooked bacon. Not a difficult order. I have whipped this out in my kitchen in less than 10 minutes for 3 people. So why did it take almost 15 minutes to get ours. And why no coffee refills? And crispy bacon is not drop already cooked bacon into a deep fryer and forget it and then serve it and it actually is sooo overcooked that just looking at it makes it break and charcoal would have tasted better. The eggs were under cooked scrambled as my wife likes done eggs and my sunny side up were two rubber disks and overcooked with no sign of the runny eggs I like. The rest of the food was meh. So lesson learned, don't think Tim's will be an option for any meals in the future. P.S.: even when we pointed out the issues the server didn't blink when she said "You asked for crispy bacon, and the kitchen was overwhelmed" Really!!!

It's a really tiny little trailer, so I understand they're working with limited space, but having cars loop around in what feels like a figure-eight can be chaotic. People get impatient, start honking, and it's easy to accidentally cut someone off without realizing it. They're just burgers, people--everyone needs to relax a little! That said, despite how busy it was, the line moved surprisingly fast. I ordered a double cheeseburger with everything, a side of onion rings, and a black raspberry shake. The shake was fantastic--definitely a highlight of the meal. The burger was also really good: flavorful, fresh, and exactly what I was hoping for. The only disappointment was the onion rings. They were incredibly greasy--so much so that they actually upset my stomach. I'm not sure if that's typical, but I probably wouldn't order them again. Next time I'd give the fries a try instead. One thing that really stood out was the pricing. It's refreshing to find a place that still offers fair prices when it feels like everything else costs an arm and a leg these days. Overall, I'd definitely come back. The burger and shake were worth it, and as long as I skip the onion rings, I think it'll be a solid meal.

The first issue was the seating. Instead of putting our party at an area that had tables that could be moved together five of us were put at a booth meant for four people. The area with more capacity was by the door that leads to the outdoor dining, and was being used by other patrons, with more room available. A chair wa placed at the end of the table for the booth we were in. The legs for the table were such that I had to "tuck" my feet under the chair I was sitting on. This was very uncomfortable for someone who had seven knee surgeries. During the meal I had to place the plate with my biscuit onto my knee to get my coffee refilled, either that or the server would have needed to reach over me to refill it. The food was a bit of a disappointment for two of us. I had the chicken fried steak with country potatoes. My wife had eggs Benedict with loaded hash browns. My county potatoes were actually cool, not cold, not even warm, cool. What made them semi-warm was the gravy on top of them. My wife's potatoes appear to have been sitting around. They were more than crispy, being hard, and cold. The eggs for the eggs Benedict were almost completely hard cooked. The yolk was not at all runny, to blend in with the sauce. Her fruit cup had lots of water in it, and the melon was not as ripe as it should have been. She remarked later she should have gotten the biscuit. We did not complain to the server. Had we done so everyone else in our party would have finished their meals by the time our replacement would have arrived. Well over $100 spent for a disappointing experience. The first we can remember at a Black Bear Diner.
