We love the original pancake house and decided to try this location on a Sunday morning. There was no wait and we were seated quickly. We waited about 20 minutes to even be greeted by the server, about another 10-15 minutes for our drinks, then another 45 minutes for our food. Half of our families food was cold and the other half was burnt from being under a heat lamp by the time it was delivered to our table. First time at the Temecula location! I've been to the poway location and that was years ago!! Honestly, it was delicious!! Those were great! Everything was hot and fresh and I love that the syrup comes out warm! Let's talk about the real winner here and thats the coffee! First off, hot delicious coffee, like I had 2 cups, which I normally don't do! The creamer is different. It's not your normal liquid vanilla creamer, its the concentrated version. Once again, the original pancake house has gone above and beyond for flavor and freshness. I ordered the turkey sausage and links and eggs, and got hard scramble, and gluten free pancakes. Not only did the whole breakfast keep me full all day, the gluten free pancakes were so amazing and fluffy. We stopped here on a Sunday after church to pick up some breakfast. I did not want to eat in as I wasn't inspired by the dark and outdated decor. My previous experience with the OPH was on the east coast and it was pretty good. My family and I tolerated the long wait times back then because the food never disappointed us. Yikes! This place really disappointed me. The Original Pancake House has been one of my favorite breakfast spots ever since Emeril Lagasse mentioned it twenty years ago. Of course, he was referring to the one in Las Vegas which is amazing. But I've been to a handful of other locations as well since then and none have been as truly terrible as this. All of our favorite dishes from the menu were awful here. But by far, the worst injustice is their runny, watery, horrible Syrup. Yes, the syrup!! It was so bad. My 49er's were undercooked and very unappetizing. Even though it looked horrible I courageously took a bite anyway (after all, one is usually famished at breakfast). But I cringed at the slimy eggy texture and flavor of the pancake and syrup. The other items were underwhelming as well. The manager was nice and apologetic when we brought it to her attention. It took her ten minutes to come to our table once we asked our server to call her, but she saw the bad food and seemed embarrassed. I'm truly marveled at how busy they were. I have eaten at the Poway & Convoy Original Pancakes House locations in San Diego numerous times, so many I can't count. This morning was the 1st time for the Temecula location and it was a horrible experience. Food was delivered cold. After a few bites, my husband told waiter and waiter took plate away to get him a new one and my husband asked for more coffee. After 5 minutes, no coffee and we flagged down another server to bring us some. I initially agreed to eat my cold food, and scraped off the cold hollandaise. After a while I just could not eat the cold potato pancakes and asked they give me hot ones. My husband's new plate was delivered. Several minutes later a different server came to our table with a plate of buttermilk pancakes, not potato pancakes. She apologized and left to have potato pancakes made instead. In the meantime, the original server stopped by to ask how it was going. We told him he never came back with requested coffee & he then said he told someone to bring us coffee--we called him on it and told him he did not, that he forgot. Been coming here for years and actually stopped coming due to the smell of the carpet and service. During Covid they renovated the inside and did some upgrades. The place looks a lot better and we started frequently coming here again. They have gotten new management and hired a lot of new servers. Today I had the Monte Cristo pancakes and let me tell you if your in to sweet and savory, this thing is the bomb probably one of the best Monte cristo style dishes I've ever had. We just had the worst experience at this restaurant. It's Monday around 9:00am... peak morning time after Christmas weekend. Probably wasn't expecting this much business on Monday. We waited 45 mins to get the food we ordered. My son ordered strawberry pancakes, but got strawberry crapes instead... another 10 mins to wait for food he ordered. I ordered eggs, bacon and side of pancakes. Pancakes never arrived. Food runner said he will bring the pancakes next but never came. I don't normally complain but it was one mistake after another, so I addressed to the waiter when he came to give me a check. He comped my food since I didn't get half of my food which I would do the same... so thank you for that. They could use 2 more waiters/waitresses and 2 more cooks in the kitchen. If you guys are short stuffed, don't seat the customers right away... let customers wait 10-15 mins to catch up in the dining room and also in the kitchen. The whipped butter and maple syrup combo makes for a perfectly mix of crispy edges but soft and chewy center to the waffle. Very good. My wife ordered the pancake breakfast with sausage. 6 large pancakes! And very good as well. Now for the unfortunate part - ZERO control by the staff. There was only a single server working this morning. Poor young lady was running herself ragged to keep up but did an amazing job considering the sheer number of tables seated. She actually kept walking by the host stand and asking for more tables to be seated so folks weren't waiting. This was my first and last time coming in to this restaurant. The dining room didn't look very inviting and the table we had was next to the kitchen and the cooks had music blaring from inside. I ordered the corned beef hash. It was loaded with grease. The corned beef looked disgusting and swimming in grease. The potato pancakes that came with it were also super greasy. I didn't even taste it. I sent it back. My husband got the western omelette. It was also not good. He attempted to eat his and when he got into it found the diced ham and the peppers and onions were burnt. Literally like black specks within the omelette. The pancakes were unimpressive as well with the cheapest tasting syrup I have ever had. When you are calling yourself the Original Pancake House I would expect the pancakes to be the best. We had a side of bacon that we asked for extra crispy. I guess that means burnt as well. All the food was greasy and disgusting. My husband who has a pretty strong stomach felt sick leaving and literally threw up when we got home. Worst breakfast spot in Murrieta/Temecula by far. The potato pancakes come with sour cream and apple sauce. The blueberry compote for the French toast was also delicious. The California Benny was great 5/5 as well as the Dutch baby 5/5. My first time coming here for breakfast I got the French toast combo. It was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. I also ordered the hot chocolate. It was perfectly flavored . As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted with a smile and seated immediately. I forgot my servers name, but he was amazing and very attentive. He knew the menu very well and even gave great suggestions. I also had a nice conversation with the hostess on my way out. She was very kind and polite.
