Chile verde omelet, no side of starches

This place has the best chile verde I've ever had in my entire life, without question. It just never stops being exceptional. Every bite. The service is also great.

Delicious breakfast. My friends and I got in early for a job and decided to get breakfast. Pasty Mae's Cafe (they changed their name I guess) was the right place. Nice diner feel and great staff. All of us loved our food and were stuffed for the rest of the day.

I have to say for all 3 in my party just dropping in to eat because Broken Yolk was packed, we were impressed. Food was excellent and portioned BIG. All of us took home left overs. I ate most of mine. Our waitress Patty M was an absolute doll. Very tentive to detail and service. The ambiance was very quiet but very vibrant with a lot going on. Puzzles, pictures, and adds for business on the tables.

I was excited to try Patsy's after reading reviews on Yelp. And the food didn't disappoint. We ordered: For the hubby: country fried steak with poached eggs, extra crispy hash browns, and a pancake - this was a hearty dish. The eggs were poached perfectly, the hash browns were crispy as ordered, the pancake was fluffy. For me: menudo with corn tortillas and the trotter on the side - this was a surprise. I like tripe and hominy but never had a menudo; now I wish I had started to eat this dish sooner. The menudo was delicious! The tripe didn't have the distinct organ-y taste and I enjoyed this dish a lot. The trotter was yummy too! We arrived closer to 1 pm coz we wanted to beat the crowds. True enough, we didn't have to wait to be seated. The hostess was great so no complaints on that. Our server, however, was quite the opposite. She seemed out of it -- she forgot part of our order so we had to ask another person. We had to them follow-up about it after 10 minutes. The place had kitschy decorations, felt homey, and you can tell that it's a local find. Would I return? For the food, it's a no-brainer. For the service, I'd have to make sure that I'm seated in another section with hopefully a better server.

This time I had a late breakfast and my hubby had the cheeseburger. The home fries with my eggs were scorched, the patty was overcooked as well. I do not recommend the biscuit as it is more of a crumbly bread, doesn't taste like a biscuit. The cheeseburger plate was fine, the onion rings greasy though. We still like this place and service was prompt today and friendly.

We spent the night in the area and decided to grab some breakfast after check out. I looked up a few places on Yelp and decided on this place. Parking was a piece of cake since it's in a shopping plaza, so we had zero issues finding one. Once we walked up to the door, we were greeted by the hosted who was set up outside. She grabbed menus and quickly seated us inside. The menu is a bit overwhelming, but everyone made their decisions and I went with the shrimp & grits. That was probably one of the best shrimp & grits meals that I've had in a long time and everyone else's meals looked amazing. The kids had eggs bacon, sausage and hashbrowns. My wife had the French toast and my mom had a ham & cheese omelette. There were zero complaints and the service was great. If you like shrimp & grits I highly recommend ordering it. They were slightly sweet and likely came from an automated machine, but they were tasty. (I typically prefer my coffee drinks to be unsweetened though.) By the time we got our food, a few more customers arrived and made the place a bit more lively. Our crepes were good. My meatless crepe had mushrooms, spinach & onion, and it was light and well-cooked. The hash browns were my favorite & the side was enough for two people to share. The dining room is clean, bright & cheerful. I did notice that the prices are quite high compared to similar restaurants in the area. I think if entree prices were lowered by $2-3, Oui would entice more customers to dine with them. Our bill for two crepes, hash browns & two lattes was $56 before tip which was a little steep. Overall, our experience was a good one, but I might think twice before returning due to the prices.

You can look at menu photos over the last 3 years. Sadly everyone's costs are up. I get it. But the value is not here. My savory crepe was sweet ( not expected) & filled with ham & scrambled eggs. My husband ordered a ham & cheese omelette- was fine but too pricey. Strangely their omelette did not come with toast. Just potatoes. We asked, nope it's extra. So although everything was ok, there is not a good value for your dollars spent. One last point, I cut my finger on a burr on my fork, the chrome plating was peeling off. This should not happen in a restaurant. Ouch.

The minute you walked in, the ambiance just wasn't it. Perhaps because we were the only minorities there and everyone else wasn't (including the staff) but it was uncomfortable having people stare at us while we were eating and having our own conversations. Someone came to get our drink order and then it took a bit of time for our actual waiter Leila to come take our order. She did mention she was doing something else. we ordered the steak and frites and their pork chop which was the special of the day. I ordered my steak medium rare and the rest of the table ordered it in medium. When the steaks came out, the waiters seem confused as if they weren't sure which plates went where and when asked if that's a medium rare steak, they stated yes. That steak was medium and it was also dry and under seasoned. It was also tough and chewy. The fries were either undercooked or overcooked. Chimichurri sauce had no flavor to it. We did also order the cedar salad which was delicious. Their calamari and wings were as well. At the end of the night, Leila asked our friend how he liked his steak because it didn't seem like he ate anything. He said it was okay and she kept insisting you can be honest and kept pushing the matter. This was extremely uncomfortable because there was no need to make him feel like he was put on the spot. while I understand the need to want feedback, if your guest says it's okay and seem uncomfortable, maybe leave it at that. She then came over to me and asked about my steak and again saying, "you can be honest." Why wouldn't I be? I did tell her the steak was cooked incorrectly, that was not a medium steak and pointed out that it was dry. There was this awkward silence at the table because honestly there wasn't a need to keep pushing. Simply asking how was it would have suffice. They did end up comping my steak which was nice of them however the entire experience just wasn't pleasant. From the ambiance, to the crowd, to the food - wasn't worth it.

I ordered the 2-meat combo platter with brisket and pork ribs, plus mac and cheese and beans. Unfortunately, the food was pretty underwhelming for the price. The brisket arrived dry and slightly oxidized-looking, with only two slices included. The ribs were overdone and mostly from the cartilage-heavy end of the rack. Flavor overall was decent, but nowhere near memorable. The mac and cheese was bland, the beans were okay, and even the pickles had an odd chemical taste to them. The service was genuinely great, which was the highlight of the experience, but at around $48 for the combo plate, the food quality just didn't justify the cost. For comparison, Heritage BBQ in San Juan Capistrano is in an entirely different league when it comes to quality and execution. This place felt much more geared toward tourists than serious BBQ fans.
