The coffee was excellent and kept coming, which is always a plus. I had the Shaved Ham Eggs Benedict, and it was so good! Perfectly prepared and full of flavor. If you're visiting, you also can't go wrong with the Golden Waffle--crispy, light, and absolutely delicious. Great food, great coffee, and a wonderful brunch experience. Not bad, just not as good as I had heard. The pancakes were very good, but I was expecting a little more since it's their whole focus. The were hot and tasty, good enough to eat with little or no syrup, served what I'm guessing is hot off the griddle. The sausage patties were fine, not super hot and maybe not just made? My eggs were good, served exactly as I asked. My server was polite, attentive and professional. Coke served in a bottle for $3.45. I prefer fountain and I like to see sodas come in closer to $2. The place was very clean and my booth was comfortable. If I were ranking just on the pancakes, I'd have given it four stars , the other food pulled it down. read more

The food at Original Pancake House was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and the portion sizes were amazing--you definitely get your money's worth. The only downside was the coffee. It was a little watery and bitter, which wasn't quite what I was hoping for. That said, the food more than made up for it. I heard this was a good place for breakfast so I decided to try it out. Everyone had the same idea because it was packed. Was greeted and seated quickly. My server immediately brought me some water and took my beverage order. I did notice the beverages were on the pricier side. I really wanted orange juice but wasn't going to pay $7 so I settled for apple. The apple juice was watery but drank it anyways. I went with a savory meal and ordered the corned beef hash. Even with the busy crowd, my food came out quickly. It was very bland. I had to add pepper to give the corned beef some life. Thank goodness the potato pancakes came with applesauce and yogurt otherwise no taste. They were also thinner than I expected. Overall, the portion size matched the price. My review is price/value based Clean restaurant and very good service but the thing that threw me off was the pricing, it's very expensive for a breakfast joint, a simple cup of coffee $5. I have no issue spending some money on a dinning experience but this one doesn't justify it in anyway, nothing "special" to demand it. Two cups of coffee and two small OJ's has the tab at $32 before you order food. (Best OJ I've had) The staff was pleasant, we got sat down within 10 min in a busy Sunday, the food was good but its eggs, pancakes, waffles, hash-browns.... Can't believe we didn't come here earlier. It had been years since I'd been to one of these, but came for Father's Day and was wowed by the breakfast. Got an omelette and specialty pancakes. What I didn't expect was to leave feeling completely taken advantage of by their absurd pricing. First, the bill came to $116.74 before tip. For what? Pancakes, hash browns, and some drinks? The charges here are completely outrageous. A "Dutch Baby" for $15.95? A single side of sausage for $7.95? Even the kids' pancakes are priced as if we were dining at a high-end steakhouse, not a casual breakfast spot. What's worse is that no one disclosed the add-on charges for things like onions, cheddar cheese, or other basic toppings--each of which came with an extra fee tacked on without warning. A pancake breakfast shouldn't leave me feeling like I was scammed. This was my first time writing a Yelp review, and it's because this experience was so egregious that I had to share it. Had a fantastic experience on NYE at OPH New Albany! The food was great as always, but the true standout part of our meal was our server Ty. To say the restaurant was slammed would be an understatement, but you'd never know it from the time and care Ty took with each and every table. We literally felt like we were in our own world. She was kind, always had a smile (even while getting buried with tables - some of them not so kind), made (awesome) recommendations and checked on us regularly while still giving us space to enjoy our meal together. Avoid the omelettes. All I can assume is that these come prepackaged and are either heated or microwaved on site? Really had a good birthday brunch today at the new location of The Original Pancake House in Westerville (New Albany) Just off Hamilton and 161. It was packed, but at noon on a Sunday it will be. They don't seat you until your party is all there - and that's fine because so many places do that these days. Loved the taste of the waffle!! And the pancakes were great. The bacon was thick- just the way I like it. They get you in and out, and I know some people get upset at that, but it was perfect for us today. Everyone on here complaining about the higher prices but for me this was far and away the nicest staff I've dinned with in YEARS, well worth the price in my opinion. Staff amazing, food great. Only issue for me was that every other Original Pancake house I have been to offered you fresh heavy cream with your coffee and this location had the individual creamers on the table. I've frequented other locations of OPH so was really happy to see this one was being built so nearby! There was luckily no wait when we visited. We were taken to a booth but found that it wasn't going to be a comfortable fit for our group so asked to be moved to a table instead. This space is much smaller than their other ones at Polaris and Lane Ave and it shows in the table sizes. The food was still their great quality. Service left a bit to be desired, but we were visiting the week they opened so there are always things to be worked out. read more

Now listen friends! I will spend good money on food. No problem with that. But $72 for breakfast for 2 people at a basic I think is ridiculous (this is without the tip btw). The food was solid- what I would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. I ordered banana pancakes and a side of turkey sausage ($7.95 for a side) all of which were tasty. My husband ordered the eggs and bacon dish which comes with some pancakes. Again solid, though we don't like chewy bacon and none of the four thick slices had any crunch. We also ordered a side of hash browns with cheese and onions. Again- solid. The bad? Not the service. Service was fine. Friendly and fast. The bad is how they nickel and dime for everything!! Most sides $7.95. Oh you went to add blueberries to your pancakes? Yo charge. You want basic coffee? $4.95 EACH for the brown water. You want onions on your hash browns? $2.95 cheese on your eggs? $2.95... Now come on. Happy to pay extra for things but these sides are priced at the same as the Barn. As an example, yesterday we went to Littletons in Upper Arlington and had brunch. I had a high quality burger w crispy potatoes. My husband had a gourmet katsu chicken sandwich, fries, two cocktails, and an order of French toast (he's 6'6" with a healthy appetite). All of this food chef prepared and high quality. The bill was $71.00. So... I'm not sure about the original pancake house for a rerun visit. The ambience is fine the food is fine but the prices? I officially found the most expensive "omelette" in Ohio. The $3 upcharge for any toppings. Is outrageous when it is no more than 20 cents of product. When the server ask if I wanted the added veggies/cheese I assumed it was part of the omelet and replied yes, not knowing it was now a $32 breakfast plate. The added salsa comes in a cup the size of a shot glass again excessively overpriced. As for the actual food, it was good but not great! I wish I had taken pictures. The omelet is large, which is to be expected, but if you want to have anything other than the three pancakes that comes with the meal, it's another upcharge. All in all I probably won't be back. The food wasn't good enough to justify the excessive cost. There's a scrambler's right up the same street that is so much better. read more

Went here yesterday for a late breakfast. Although it appeared to be very busy, we were seated immediately and received menus. Our server appeared quickly and was very friendly and attentive. Was pretty surprised at the prices for beverages. My wife ordered a pretty generic breakfast of eggs, bacon and pancakes. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash breakfast. According to the menu, the CBH is house-made, and it comes with potato pancakes. Let me say my wife's breakfast was well-done, although it was a very basic breakfast that any beginner cook could have prepared. The bacon was crispy, as requested. The CBH was among the blandest I've ever had and was very salty. The potato pancakes were very thin and equally tasteless. The portion size was reasonable for the price, but I've had CBH many different places and this was by far the most disappointing I've had, especially for the prices they charge. It's not the first time I've eaten at OPH. but definitely the most disappointing meal I've ever had there. read more

Rough start folks. Step one, the host table handed us a card with a 4 on it and wrote 40 on their paper, causing a big hassle to get sat that we only investigated/discovered when we heard the table in front of us resolving a similar gaffe. Step two Sat down, LOUD. The booths are short, the ceiling is high, and the walls have no fabric or dampening. The place was packed(first weekend Sunday.) so some grace there, but damn you couldn't design a louder restaurant. Step 3, menu looks good, lots of good stuff on there, I went with Irish eggs Benedict 16.95(!)(corned beef instead of ham). Coffee was mid 4.95(!), weak but balanced, comes in a really beautiful hand made mug. Fresh juice 7.95(!) was pulpy and you can see the machine they made it in, kinda fun. Step 4 food comes out. Partner got Irish omelette 15.95(!) mine was botched. Didn't come with the hashbrowns we talked about. Presentation was blah, huge white plate with tons of empty space and eggs benny in the middle. Pancakes on a separate plate were fluffy and good! I sent back the wrong food and got the corned beef hash benny but it was too late. Not enough appetite left for the admittedly decent hollandaise but the corned beef had zero texture to it and was really off putting, like I'd expect from a can. So wrong food, missing food, too expensive, not charming like a crummy diner or nice like a fancy breakfast place. Costs too much. I'd have stayed off yelp if they gave me a discount or even done a manager table touch but again, they busy. 80 bucks after tips for 2 people and a kids meal. Mediocre. Not coming back. read more

Service from my server not good, never came back to check that my order was made correctly until they dropped the check. Trash all over the floor and not one member of the staff would pick it up! Not even one of the 5 employees standing at the front door counter. As I prepared to leave the bus staff was literally standing just behind me so close waiting for me to get up!
