    Rainbow cone

Delicious ice cream!! Really hits the spot on a hot day. This was my second location i visited and they do not let you choose your own flavors for your cone. Michigan location does! Still solid ice cream spot and the rainbow cone really let you taste a little bit of everything.

    Small Rainbow Cone. Yummy!

What can you say about the rainbow cone? Super fun and yummy. On an unseasonably warm March day, they were busy, but the line moved fast and wasn't a deterrent to waiting. We tried a highly rated gelato location first, but the line was out of control. I was glad because it ultimately led us to the rainbow cone. Stop by and smell the yummy waffle cones being made while you wait to get your rainbow on!

Life's Too Short for Just One Flavor! If happiness could fit in a cone, The Original Rainbow Cone has mastered the recipe. Right next to the Magnificent Mile Hotel, this spot is pure nostalgia wrapped in layers of ice cream dreams. We came ready for a treat and walked out with technicolor smiles -- because how do you not grin when holding a five-layer masterpiece stacked with chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House (that cherry-walnut vanilla situation is genius), pistachio, and orange sherbet? It's a balancing act of flavors and childhood memories, and somehow, it works. Pro tip: grab your cone and head outside -- the lighting by the greenery or brick walls is perfect for the "proof-I-ate-this" photo session. Bonus points if you get the "Life's Too Short for Just One Flavor" sign in the background because it sums up the vibe perfectly. If you're indecisive like me, no worries -- this place was built for that. Whether you go for the iconic Rainbow Cone or cave and get a banana split big enough to share (but you won't want to), it's all worth the sugar rush. Final thoughts: The Rainbow Cone isn't just ice cream -- it's a Chicago must, a color therapy session, and a sugar-fueled hug in one.

    Rainbow flavors in a cup!

Until we traveled to Chicago I'd never heard of The Original Rainbow Cone. Visiting here and seeing it on Yelp, my wife and I had to try it. I admit I didn't get the cone, but got the rainbow flavors in a cup and it was delicious! Orange sherbet on top of pistachio, strawberry, chocolate, and Palmer House (vanilla with cherries and walnuts), were just flavors that blended really well together! If you go to this location, this store is located inside Geno's Pizza.

First time trying a rainbow cone and it was unique to say the least. I loved the layering of the different flavors, that while distinct somehow managed to mesh together in a novel harmony. The cone can get very messy very quickly if you're eating it outside on a warm day, which is probably the only option since there's no indoor seating. They have a little contraption designed to catch the melted ice cream but it ended up overflowing for me and didn't work that well. I think that for one person, a junior size cone would be plenty. I got the original size and that was quite the sugar rush.

Chocolate, Strawberry, Palmer House (New York Vanilla & cherries), Pistachio Almond, and Orange Sherbet all in a cone. Magnificent.

I'm not from Chicago. So when I saw the rainbow cone description, I needed to try it. If I am honest though, I thought to myself, "How can this be good?" Oh my goodness. This was life changing. The combination of flavors all blended into a glorious experience. If you haven't had it, you need to.

There's no seating inside, it's more of a grab and go spot! Service was incredibly fast and there was no line. The decor is so pink and eye catching! I got the original rainbow cup. This came with five unique flavors including chocolate, pistachio, strawberry (with actual strawberry chunks in there!), Palmer house, and citrus lime? I like the variety, and would love to try the mint and choco one next time. Obviously would've been more aesthetic in a cone to see the actual 5 layers... whoops!

Got the mini rainbow cone and it was loaded with ice cream! Quick friendly service. Super fun and colorful experience. I got to try flavors I wouldn't normally try. Ice cream had very creamy and soft texture. The cone was your average cake cone. Overall a fun treat, would recommend.

I'm so grateful they finally put a location closer to the downtown touristy area! This is my absolute favorite ice cream, and I live in California. Whenever I visit, this is one of my must-haves, but it was so hard to get as their original location is further south of Chicago. It's basically a small food court like space and they have their own set up inside. I got their ice cream in 40 degree weather and I had no regrets. Thank you for making it easier for us out-of-towners to enjoy this delicious treat.

First dessert, then ice cream. I learned about The Original Rainbow Cone two weeks ago but I didn't realize it was available at Navy Pier and the stand at the White Sox game had run out of cones and I knew I wanted the real experience, not just in a bowl. So this week I trekked around the city and found the nearest location on my walk. I enjoyed the flavor combos-including those I'd never tried like pistachio and Palmer House. I made it through the strawberry although it is still my least favorite flavor. Overall it was a great treat. Definitely worth trying! Staff were nice and quick. Waited a max of five minutes in line and less than that to get my ice cream.

Unique taste treats in the heart of Chicago. This little counter is right inside the entrance to Gino's East. Counter service was slow but friendly. The treats themselves are fun and especially good for kids or the young at heart.

    Rainbow cone and Chocolate Obsession

Had to get the unofficial ice cream of Chicago. I was excited to see a Michigan Ave location, located next to Ginos East. My boyfriend got the original rainbow cone and now wants to go back again today. I've had that before so tried this chocolate obsession and was not disappointed. We have a few more days in Chicago, I'm guessing with a few more trips here.

The original rainbow cone was delicious to the point that is worth trying at least once while you're in Chicago. I went there right before closing and it was still a good experience.

My banana split was excellent--until I got to the pineapple. It was spoiled. Need to work on quality control.

Love this place. Good for nostalgia. Has a small selection but enough. Love the mint chocolate chip they offer, as well.

Tbh I remember being disappointed because of the hype. Today I entered with tempered expectations. I tried the Old Fashioned doughnut and it was somewhere between solid and above average. I'll definitely stick with Do-Rite especially because they're a few blocks away and significantly better. If the job catered Voodoo I'd indulge, but considering I prefer a few other donut shops I won't make a special trip. Great service plus a respectable donut equals 3.51 stars.

It also doesn't hurt that they are open from 6am to Midnight - perfect for those sudden doughnut cravings! One thing that can be improved is how they handle big orders. I recently ordered over 5 dozen doughnuts and it came in 6 boxes and a small bag. First problem: they don't deliver. Second and bigger problem is that they don't pack big orders so you can carry them out. How the heck am I going to carry 6 boxes and a bag of donuts??? Maybe they want to keep their business "small". A simple brown bag or even something to tie the boxes together would have been very helpful.
