    Baked alaska

Nice restaurant located on the edge of a cliff with beautiful views. It was very cozy and warm inside. Service was good but they try to push the alcoholic drinks too much even when we told the server that we don't drink. The food minus the dessert was very good. We had the halibut steak and curried halibut, which were delicious. The baked alaska was a disappointment. The server didn't even know how to light it properly and the ice cream and brownie was not fresh.

The location, is absolutely stunning. The service is great, and the food is even better. Highly recommended if you get a chance. The stingers blood bear, the ravioli, the salmon dip and the mushroom were FANTASTIC.

Went last night for a glass of wine. Then decided to stay for dinner. Host was a bit frazzled Told us we only had an hour , bc next party coming at 7 pm . He seated us ... waitress looked befuddled ... stayed she didn't know what was going on ! Oh my ... it's a restaurant ! Anyhoo , we both ordered haddock . Very good , nice flavor., moist . Sides were good . Nice pours of the wine Charming restaurant .

Service is ok. Extremely understaffed. 3/5. Food wise: Salmon dip: 5/5 seems to be a decent choice. This dish has been here since 1987. Also seems to be a popular way of consuming salmon. Had it on Anchorage as well. Goes well with cucumbers or crackers. Reindeer stew: 5/5 very well made. Reindeer meats are very tender. Since it's marinated, much flavor inside. Cranberry (or rhubarb likely) on top of mashed potatoes reminds me of turkey...) Last time I had a similar dish, it was Venison by the end of St George St in Toronto, ON, Canada. Crab ravioli. 3/5 It's not that loud but definitely not a quiet place. It's nice if you happen to get a window view.

This place is great! The food was yummy and the staff was kind. We even got a trainee (Joshua) who was learning quickly and a great addition to the night. We mostly all got the hamburger and it was good! My mom got the halibut curry and honestly, that was the winner. It sounds questionable, but if you're debating it - get it!! It was yummy!! It was HOT in the restaurant as the sun was setting, but that was the only downfall.

We ate at this place called the Overlook which had beautiful views of the Denali National Park mountains. It sits on top of the crows nest resort. Kicked things off with an IPA, and then the appetizers were all great. The first was the Focaccia with alaskan sea salt, it was airy and soft. And came with a whipped ricotta spread that was light and sweet from the honey. They actually hook it up with the ratio of ricotta for the amount of bread you get. The king crab Rangoons were creamy and had the sweetness of the crab actually noticeable in the bite. The Smoked Salmon dip was very generous with the Alaskan salmon portion, the ritz crackers went surprisingly well with the smoky salmon, but I think they set the bar for themselves where they should've been homemade crackers. One of their signature dishes is the Alaskan Halibut Steak that comes with a homemade tartar sauce, whipped potatoes, and carrots. The tartar sauce added a tangy rich flavor to the halibut. The coffee was underwhelming, but the dessert certainly wasn't. The thing to get is the baked Alaska that is a brownie with moose tracks ice cream encased in meringue flambeed tableside.

We stopped buy here during our time in Denali and ate here both nights, we absolutely loved and had to come back again. They're one of the few restaurants open late, which was perfect for us. Shout out to Jan who provided us with excellent service! We had a great time and greatly appreciated his attentiveness. 10/10! The food was excellent, we had the salmon and crab chowder which were delicious. We ended up taking a bowl of extra chowder home! We also had the king crab the second night. The crab legs were quite meaty and filling, we were able to eat it between the both us. My only disappointment was missing out on the reindeer stew and crab ravioli on both nights. We visited toward the end of the summer season so they were running out of a lot already.

I am still craving the crab and artichoke dip I had at Overlook while in Denali. It was cheesy and full of crab. The bread it came with was perfectly crispy and buttery. We sat at the bar and had an incredible view. (Tip: sit at the bar or one of the tables near the windows!) If you are staying nearby, you can walk here. There's a bit of a climb up the stairs but adds to the setting. We asked the attendant at the desk next door in the resort for a ride home and he was more than happy to do so. Our bartender was also very friendly and attentive. Even though they were understaffed, you would not know. Unfortunately my salmon was overcooked and dry. The taste did not match up with its nice presentation. So come to Overlook for the crab and artichoke dip, a beverage at the bar, and a great view!

    King crab & halibut curry

No.. my husband did not stalk people who were sitting at the bar just to get us a seat lolol no shame. We ordered: KING CRAB - This was our first time getting KING crab!! It was soooo worth it. Yes it was a bit salty and very messy, but worth it once in while. Felt super fancy with the lit up candle that was used to melt the butter too. HALIBUT CURRY - The portion size was small, but the amount of halibut was great! The curry itself was pretty good but would've been better with some spice. CUSTOMER SERVICE - The reason I didn't give this place a 5 star was because of the service. They didn't give us water until after 15 minutes of us asking and weren't very acknowledging.

I've been trying to find this place for a while…read more For so long, that I often thought it was myth. What? A bar? In Denali? You mean the park right? Not just the Denali area? You sure it's not some bar in "Glitter Gulch"? I've looked for it numerous times, with no luck. It's hard to describe where it is, you'll think you're driving in places you're not supposed to. (and maybe you aren't?) It's not a myth friends. Maybe I shouldn't even be listing it but, it *is* listed on other sites that fulfill similar niches to Yelp. And lack of beta is one of my criticisms about Alaska, so I'm doing my little part to change that. Anyway, this place is awesome! It's a building built up around two rail cars. It's hard to describe until you see it. The ambiance is probably the most "real" you'll find in the whole greater Denali area. Most of the folks here work or volunteer for the park (and also associated businesses) in some capacity, at least that's what it seemed like. Key features: Friendly bartenders, live music, beer and wine only. I don't know how they managed to do it, but the beer they have on tap is incredible. I saw stuff on tap here that I've never seen anywhere else in the state. For wine, they have a Bota Red and a Bota White. Also, it's cheap! Just about everything is $5! An unheard of price for Alaska, let alone touristy Alaska. They also make pizza and, although I didn't eat any, it looked pretty incredible. Worth a stop, just don't tell your friends! (note, the location I have pinned here is exactly where it is located, your GPS might not like it very much though, where's your sense of adventure, anyway?)

On the first visit we sat at the bar to avoid the wait. Bartenders were friendly even though many were working their first day of the season. Ordered the cub size (12") Boreal Forest which is perfect for 2 people. Also had a few beers from their very long menu. Inside was cabin cozy. They also have outdoor seating. Overall, excellent experience! Boreal 5/5 stars. For our second visit, we needed a quick lunch between two excursions so we ordered pickup and tried the Homestead this time. Took 20 minutes from calling in to the pizza being ready which worked well. Homestead 4/5 stars, crust was still amazing but pizza felt like it needed something more. Very happy we found this place on our first day in Denali.

If I was just rating the pizza, it'd be a 4 stars cause we thoroughly enjoyed it. Average size for…read morethe price, good amount of cheese (almost too heavy personally) and pepperoni but fantastic crust. Super light, nice air bubbles and charred just enough but not burnt. Crust had nice structure/crumb and chew as well. Really solid overall and would definitely get it again. My few issues: -Saturday late afternoon/early evening I get it'll be busy but the front of house was just way unorganized and none of the staff seemed super helpful till I had actually ask someone where to place a to go order. I was literally standing in front of them and no one acknowledged me lol. It was also so cramped with people standing around everywhere for no reason it seemed. -We ordered to go as mentioned and they text you when your order is ready. Cool, not a problem. What they forgot to mention was you get a text as items on your order become ready. So you'll get your appetizers or whatever else that are quicker to make well before your actual pizza. Do you eat them hot in your car while waiting for the rest of your order? Or let them get cold and eat them when you get home later? Who does it that way?!? Absolutely ridiculous and so dumb. Have proper kitchen planning and make food so it all comes out hot and at once. -Just FYI, the ravioli appetizer for $16 came with 5 raviolis. Yeah you hear that right, only FIVE raviolis in an order for 16 bucks. That should be a crime and such a rip off. I expected at least 10 of them for that price. But hey, you get both marinara and pesto, so that's nice. -Last issue was when they brought my pizza, it didn't have my ranch's that I ordered and paid for. It took probably 5 minutes and the staff going back n forth 3 times saying someone must've taken them. It took a manager to get ranch's from the kitchen and bring them up front...Then tells the to go staff that the kitchen sent them with my ravioli that was sent half an hour earlier, which they didn't. Why was it so hard to get some ranch?! And I paid $50 for a pizza, appetizer and can of side, why would I lie about getting my extra sauce? Shouldn't have even been an issue for a dollar worth of ranch IMO.. I gave it a 3 star overall because the pizza was really good and would've given it a 4* on its own but everything else was a 2* as outlined above. Definitely things that could be improved upon at the end of the day, but they do make some really solid pizza.

My first impression upon checking in at the hostess station and looking into the seating area, was that it might not be as good an experience as I'd hoped. I was wrong. They were jammed. We got seated at one of three 2-tops next to the open kitchen. Normally I enjoy being able to watch food being prepared but I thought it was going to be too loud and busy. Well, it was loud but tolerable and it was a very busy space but I really enjoyed watching the grill-man, the other prep folks as well as the 2 People doing the finishing touches, garnishes and delivering the food. Our server was Regan. What a pleasure she was. Really delightful, helpful and attentive. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer and slowly enjoyed both. Later, we ordered a single meal to share. We loved it! Here's what we had: Drinks: Cosmo cocktail Lavender Gin cocktail Blackberry Smash cocktail All the drinks were well crafted and very tasty. Appetizer: Halibut Bites Really nice appetizer. Salad: Wedge with Blue Cheese dressing The salad was large enough to share and we asked for some extra dressing. Really good. Side: Marscapone Potato Gratin These were really special. Love it. Main: Prime Beef Filet with Lobster Herb Butter Oh my word, super tender and flavorful. If we find ourselves back in the area, we'd eat here again!
