Seriously, BEST BAR IN UTAH!!! I'm from New York and travel to California almost monthly...But, when I'm in Utah I always make a pilgrimage up to this bar. For me and my business colleagues, it is truly a home away from home! Tucked away in the mountains, lies Robert Redford's The Owl Bar. Gorgeous and a great place to relax--and bring your friends and/or business colleagues. Atmosphere is by far a very unique, rustic feel and is perfect for a get together and/or a getaway for a beer or a glass of wine. I've been going up there for years and have seen the many changes they've made to make it the best bar in Utah! Great music, with great people. My drinks of choice: The Porter Rockwell-Draft Porter and Draft Pale Ale & a Drewski! The things I love about The Owl Bar: great scenery, reasonable prices, great scotch selection, trademark fire barrel and the staff! The staff is unique, knowledgeable and fun to be around! Chris-a funny good looking kid with an awesome mustache. He has been there for years and makes the best drinks! Laurie-is a pleasure to be around, always smiling and has extensive knowledge in wine! JJaye-is one of the most joyful people to be around and she has the best stories! Food wise: It's your typical bar food...Outside of Park City, for bar food its one of the better places to go...Wings, Portobello Fries, Homemade Nachos with pulled Chicken, etc...etc... What I don't understand is all the negative comments about the food--It's a bar, not a restaurant! Another thing, I noticed is comments directed at service when the bar gets busy. Which happens, I've been to hundreds of bars across the country and world--been to the ritziest-- to the holes in the wall! One thing I will say is on a busy night service ANYWHERE will be limited. Like me, you just have to wait your turn! As for Utah goes, The Owl Bar is by far a great place for you! The drinks were amazing, best chicken wings my husband and I have ever had. The waygu burger was delicious, shrimp ceviche was divine, and the charcuterie board was excellent. The highlight of the meal was dessert, the peach crisp was melt in your mouth, almost ecstasy level good. One of a kind bar, definitely recommend. read more

Wasn't here long but it is a sweet place. I gave it a 4 because I didn't try any food but the inside is really cool. Transports you to olden times where Butch might have been there to have a drink with you. Log cabin inside with dim lighting which makes me look prettier than I am. TLDR - fun place with good lighting for all your dog face snapchat filters. read more

I come to Utah 3-4 times a year for business and make sure to spend all my free time lodging at Sundance as well as eating there. Most times meetings run to late to eat anywhere else other than the Owl Bar if I'm lucky we can make it to the Tree Room ran by a kind fellow with a great mustache ( The BEST restaurant in Sundance in my opinion: food, experience and staff.) For the last seven years I don't think I've ever had a complaint in the food until now. Owl Bar always had the amazing nachos with the beans at the bottom straight from the oven and worth every penny, brussels sprouts with almond slices, Charcuterie board, ceviche, pasta, etc. Always an amazing selection to choose from, followed by the best wine selection. We had the chance to order basically everything on this new menu and all I can say is WOW. Not only has the selection been cut in half which could've been great if it was well selected cuisine. But it has become worse than a chain restaurant. The food has become painfully obvious that is frozen and refried and put on a platter with no thought. Nachos were mediocre to say the least. Sliders were literally worse than your whole in the wall pub that put everything in the microwave and heat it. Chicken in the Chicken Sandwich was 100% a patty bought at a local store that you question is real chicken at all. Burger was subpar to say the least. Salad and wings were more bearable than most. There is no point in going in for dining. Care for the food is obviously not important at all and it is whatever they can make easiest and fastest. A shame. When brought up to the staff they had almost sad dog eyes because i'm sure it's not the first time they've heard it before. And when also asked why they changed the menu so drastically there was no one good answer and were obviously uncomfortable and a touchy subject to say the least. Shame to whoever is choosing the menu. Sundance Owl Bar is no longer the same and for no fresh food you are overpaying to say the least. I think when coming in from out of town Park City has unfortunately become a safer bet for food ambiance and drinks. read more

It was shipped to Thermopolis, WY by Butch Cassidy and put in the Rosewood bar, "where Butch Cassidy and his Hole-in-the-Wall Gang, the Wild Bunch, hung out." Years later, it was restored and brought to Sundance. That's almost too much awesomeness to wrap your head around. The rustic feel is perfectly congruent with the rest of Sundance. Drinks are a little pricey, but they're good, and you don't really mind. read more

While exploring the canyons, came across the little cozy bar, their BBQ Wings ate ammmaaazziinnggg I he sauce is so delicious, and their Owl Bar Nachos are really good not over salty and the beans on them so good, they don't hold back on the sour cream or guacamole. Beautiful bar, beautiful location. Perfect to grab a quick drink and let aching muscles relax after a day on the slopes. Lots of interesting cocktails at ski-resort prices. The wife's herbal, flowery, sweet vodka cocktail was very complex (if less than a little strong). I read on Yelp that a Maker's old fashioned was only $6, but that was a few years ago, I guess... turned out to be more like $10. Plus, while it was quite large, it also tasted pretty weak--too much club soda for the law-limited amount of whisky, I guess. We didn't have food, but the fried pickles and seasons nuts looked fantastic. I had really great service here, by a server who was doing a remarkable job tending to a bunch of tables at a busy time. I'd not worry about the "bad service" comments made by others months, or years, ago. If you're OK with the prices you'll love the atmosphere, service, and drinks. The Owl bar is the perfect escape from utah county. It has an awesome atmosphere and feel of the place, that you really can't find anywhere else. I mean, its a nice rustic bar, in the middle of the mountains, with a folkie feel and a very chill environment. It's magical in every season. Winters are beautiful when the mountain is all snowy (hard and scary to get there, but really awesome anyways), perfect weather and place to be during spring and summer, and a nice view during the fall. The crowd there is usually a bit older than other places, but still not out of hand old. Lots of tourists and people that come for some adventures hiking, and snowboarding/skiing. The drinks are not that expensive, considering the bar is so nice and cool, it has good prices. It has an awesome patio with fires to warm up in the cold, and lots of chairs to chill during the summer. Also during the weekends, usually fridays, they have live bands playing and its always fun to be there with friends. Absolutely recommended and a must see if you are ever in Utah county. read more

The ambiance is just... perfection. Who doesn't want to go to a cabin in the mountains at Sundance...? WHO DOESN'T?! The low lighting, the wooden everything, the antlers, the fire. I can't even. I love The Owl Bar. The drinks are pretty pricey but the food is great and the atmosphere is so awesome that it makes the price and the drive worth it. If you go in the off season Sundance still runs the ski lifts for mountain bikers but you can hop on for a round trip and it's a beautiful way to kill an hour, especially after a yummy lunch at the Owl Bar. Make sure you try the Garlic Hummus and Pita, I could have eaten it all day and they made best Moscow Mule I've ever had. read more

I've been going here for years...and it has never disappointed me. It's a short drive up Provo canyon to Sundance resort where it is located. The atmosphere is over the top. So cozy and quaint. The drinks are so yummy. I've had the moscow mule and this time I had a hot toddie and my husband had Irish coffee. I've been here when they had live music and the place is hoppin! I've looked at the food menu need to go back when I can stay longer. Your treated like a special friend or celebrity each time your there. Guess who I was with? This place is incredible. It's a total throw back from the Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid days. I've been here a number of times and I always leave impressed. This place (much like The Foundry and Tree Room next door) had a warm and inviting feel about it. It was fairly empty when we were there, so that added to the relaxing environment. Overall thoughts: Super cool little joint. Walking in makes you feel like you've taken a step back in time. The atmosphere (5 stars) - Great atmosphere. Live Music after 9p on the weekends, super cozy ambiance. The decor and the cabin itself definitely set the tone for a fun and memorable experience. The food (3.5 stars) - The food is good, not amazing, but really good. The nachos are some of the best I have had, but the burger, while good quality, and cooked well, felt a bit plain. I didn't feel like it had anything that set itself apart from 100's of other burgers I have had elsewhere. Service (4 stars) - The service we received was prompt, courteous, and constant. They made great recommendations. Value (4 stars) - While the food and service are great, the owl bar is a bit pricey for your usual bar fare menu. The Owl Bar is quite possibly the best place in America to kick back and enjoy a cocktail and a bite to eat next to a roaring fire. I've spent hours sitting in this wonderful room enjoying drinks with friends and even more hours wishing I was back! At first visit, I thought I'd dislike Sundance for all the hype and the hollywood tie-ins, but I still can't get enough of that place! The Sundance resort is located in a beautiful setting in the mountains just outside Provo and the Owl Bar is located inside the resort, adjacent to the other restaurants, but not ajoined. Inside the bar, you feel transported to different time & place where people have nothing better to do then to relax, and make friends over a drink and some some good grub. Put your feet up on the stone fireplace hearth and tip one back for me! The food comes directly from the Foundry Grill, one of my other favorites and is very good and reasonably priced. Nachos, nachos, nachos. Several nights per week there's great live music. The Verdict: As good as it gets! This bar gets all the stars I can give it. read more

wow, one and two star reviews? The staff is amazing and do the best they can even if they are under staffed here and there while there are events at the resort.. One of my favorite places to play as a band (Ugly Valley Boys). Ive been here probably once a month for the past 3 years or so.. Great place to get away, and prices aren't that expensive especially compared to other resort prices. Redford keeps this resort small and inviting and the Owl Bar does that great! I am shocked at all the 5 star reviews. I've been to the Owl Bar 5 or 6 times -- it is the only bar at Sundance. Never once did I get good service. The bar does not know how to staff appropriately to handle more than a few customers. For example, last weekend Sundance had a food festival with hundreds of people -- and predictably -- the Owl Bar had only 2 or 3 servers. A massive crowd to wait up to an hour to get a drink. Clearly, the bar has no competition so management skimps on staffing and service. The atomoshere is cool -- great decor and they often have talented musicians play. When I asked the server for some virgin cocktails for some friends she rudely told me "everything needed the alcohol." I haven't heard that in any bar ever, from NYC to California. The atmosphere is intriguing. The bar is small, which can either be fun or too cramped. My husband and I opted for a table outside near the fire. Again, the ambiance of the mountains were wonderful (the water in the background, the cool summer evening, the fire) etc. but the overpriced nachos that everyone raved about just tasted like black beans and my one cocktail costed more than the nachos and probably didn't even have liquor in it. Our waitress was friendly but not attentive and we got charged for two beers that we didn't even ask for. This place is amazing. I have been here on many different occasions and have always been treated like a regular. The last time through I had a chance to meet the owner Robert Redford. Everyone is very gracious and accommodating. I would recommend sitting outside if it's warm enough and listen to the water. The bison burger was amazing as were the fried pickles. Not recommended if you're any shade of skin other than white. You WILL be treated like a second class citizen by the wait staff. This is an awesome little find. I went here with a few buddies and we don't drink.. We actually went in for the food. It has a very cool lodge type feel in the bar. There is an awesome fireplace in the back room that gives some pretty nice ambiance. We ordered a few things and kind of shared them. We started with the fried pickles which were very delicious. We also got the garlic fires. They weren't garlic"y" enough for me though.. I wish they had some more flavor. We had the mahi mahi fish tacos which were very good. Not your typical white fish in these tacos, the mahi takes it up a notch. We also had some waygu beef sliders. These were very very yummy. A very cool place with good food and a great environment. We went to the bar (which is the only bar up there) to have a few drinks with friends after a company meeting. We originally sat outside. Our server was wonderful and let us split the check up in multiple ways, given there were so many of us. We ordered drinks and food. The homemade BBQ chips were excellent. The nachos weren't as popular. It started to rain and we moved inside. Unfortunately, a band was there and it was so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you. Fabulous! Everything from the beautiful bar to the atmosphere to the service to the....FOOD. Best trout I have ever eaten. Foundry Grill's salmon did not come close to the flavors of the trout. Many of us in our group agreed! Both nights we visited the Owl Bar, it was empty - which we liked, since we were a big group and didn't want to disturb other diners. The fireplace is cozy! read more
