I saw this place in Shawnee on Facebook. Had to like , so I could see the specials. A high compliment to who post pictures. They make you crave! Food here is excellent! I ordered the Italian cheese with My side a sweet potato. Really good buttered bread and cheesy inside! A little sweetness sprinkled on top of potato. Husband's Chicken melt was super good with cheese n mushrooms. His side salad was lots of good stuff. Now the reason for only 3 stars....the sign saying wait to be seated but then say set anywhere? Young guy waiter, so quiet! Nice but too quiet. Now the seating, so awkward. One table front , then just a few in back. Place is big inside, which is not needed. Maybe an old drugstore before. Needs to be closed off in back and bring tables together. Alittle decor would go along way. So food excellent but not a place I want to drive from Del City for an enjoyable meal. The family and I came here for lunch, looking for vegan options. We got the chips and salsa/guacamole/hummus as an appetizer. The chips were homemade and really good! The dips were kinda small but also good. We ordered a strawberry spinach salad, small Mediterranean bowl, and large Burrito bowl. I'm not sure there was much difference between the small bowl and the large bowl, but only because they were both really big. Everything we got was amazing! No complaints at all. The Owl Shoppe ended up being the perfect place for our party of 10 for girls night. We ended up getting so many different entrees, and they were easily able to accommodate special dietary needs. They offer gluten free bread and some vegan options, so this ensured that everyone was satisfied with the meal! My Philly cheesesteak was very good, and my favorite part was the fact that they grilled cheese on the outside of the bun, which is perfect for me, a major cheese lover. You could tell that they put effort into presenting each plate in a beautiful manner. This shop is located in the heart of downtown Shawnee and is open Tuesday-Saturday for lunch. We found out they are also open on Friday nights, so it was the perfect option for our large group. They had plenty of seating, and the service was friendly, although a little on the slow side. I walked in with my husband to grab a quick breakfast. Nobody there to greet us or a sign to say seat yourself. Not what I expected. It was very makeshift. The tables and chairs were quite old and looked like the had come from the Salvation Army. I then walked back to try to find a spot to eat. You walk into the space and immediately on the left is a storage shelf - looks cluttered and chaos - not welcoming at all. The tables are old and the walls unfinished. The soup du jour was chicken corn tortilla, which was tasty, and my salad had an assortment of greens, multi-colored bell pepper strips, grape tomatoes, black olives, white onion & shredded cheese. The salad ingredients were very fresh and the blue cheese dressing was good (on the side). If you order a soda, you get a glass of ice and an unopened can. The cafe was full during the noon hour but the service was very friendly & attentive. My ticket total was $16, which seemed a bit spendy for what I had, but I did enjoy the meal. Literally went out of my way the first time I came here because the menu looked so good and it was well worth it! I love the creativity of the menu, the ability to make most anything veggie/ vegan friendly. Seriously it's delicious. I've been waiting to come back to Shawnee just so I could eat here again. I don't know if they have stock in asparagus cause it's in so many things, I honestly thought I was going to walk out the first time because why do I need asparagus in my wrap..but whoa do they know what they are doing with it! Had my first lunch at The Owl Shoppe and was impressed with the food. I ordered an unsweet tea and the Mediterranean Delight. The Mediterranean Delight was like a salad but much more interesting. Loaded with veggies, a flour tortilla and a generous scoop of humus. I added the grilled chicken. I do wish there was more grilled chicken considering it cost $14 but it was still really good. The service was very prompt & friendly. With a tip it was about $21 which seems a bit high for a small town lunch but like I said it was very good with high quality ingredients. This place was not impressive, which is sad because I hear people talk about it often. It might've been an off day but it was not pleasant one bit and sadly we would probably never eat here again. The table was sticky and when we asked them to wipe it down they kind of seemed annoyed. Well then we got our teas and there were bug body parts floating in both glasses. They said their ice machine was broken and they were using the very bottom of the bin. We ended up getting bottled cokes. We were excited about our food. I got a quesadilla but it was like a Thanksgiving dinner and my husband got some kind of Philly cheesesteak. Well, as we are eating my husband found a long hair in his sandwich. They offered to make a new one, but my husband lost his appetite. Well, I continued to eat until I found a hair INSIDE my quesadilla. I was floored! We let them know and they said we didn't have to pay for our meal, which was good because we barely ate two maybe three bites. By that point we left and went somewhere else to find food. Our service was great with informed staff about allergies and options to make choices enjoyable. The gluten contentious fare was strong.
