In late January 2025, I visited The Oyster Bar and the view was amazing, so I asked my server (Mary) if it were possible to make reservations for specific tables. She told me that it was, so I made a reservation for three for Friday, April 4,2025 (over two months in advance) for the table in southwest corner because it's in the best spot. My family would be visiting from Montana and I wanted them to experience the awesome view and have a nice meal. I received a text message confirming my reservation the day before and I confirmed that I would be there at 12:30 for lunch on 4/4. We arrived at the restaurant early, just about 12:10, but we figured we would see if we could be seated early, but we were informed that the table was taken, which was fine because we were early. We told the server that we would wait until 12:30 so we could get our table at our reservation time. However, we were told that they had just been seated and hadn't ordered yet. Of course I was immediately irritated and asked why you would seat someone at a reserved table 20 minutes before the table was reserve and the server explained that you can reserve a specific table unless someone comes in before you and asks to sit at the same table. Essentially reservations at The Oyster Bar are pointless because they will fill seats with anyone that wants to be seated as long as they arrive before you. We were then told we could sit at another table because it's "not a big deal", but my question is, if it's not a big deal, why weren't the other customers told us wasn't a big deal to sit at another table, specifically because that table was reserved? We ended up eating there because my wife didn't want to cause a scene, but the food sucked because I was so pissed that I couldn't enjoy the meal. It was a total waste of time and money and I will never give The Oyster Bar my business again, furthermore, I will bend over backwards to dissuade others to visit because of their terrible policy exceptions and nonchalant attitudes. read more

I mean....the view is a hundred stars, especially at sunset. On a cliff overlooking the water, on Chuckanut Drive. It's just so pretty. Four of us came to dinner and got what I would say is probably the best seat in the house - a round table in the corner. We started off with a dozen varied oysters and a bottle of prosecco - folks, this is the way to do it. We had the crab cakes (divine) and the lobster bisque (scrumptious), and we got an Argentinean Malbec with dinner. They do have specials, and as it was sadly a Friday during Lent, we weren't able to partake in the meat one - though had it been not during Lent, it would have been my immediate choice. I know, I know. Don't go to a place called OYSTER BAR and get the meat special, but it just sounded so brilliant. Instead, the boys got the sturgeon special, I got the cioppino, and the other person got the seafood salad. I can't even begin to tell you how unbelievably delicious it was. Nearly everything was local and fresh, and presentation was lovely. I did see a few other dishes come out and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. We topped it off with port and dessert, and while it was lacking in creme brulee (my favorite, basic sweet), the cheesecake was mouthwatering and I hear the chocolate cake get rave reviews. It's not cheap, you will spend a pretty penny. But it's a perfect celebration spot, a date night, or when you feel like just making it rain. We were actually looking for a different place but were very happy to end up here. Making a reservation is strongly encouraged but the hostess was able to squeeze us in. The food menu is full of mouth watering offerings and the wine options don't disappoint either. We began out meal with a sampling of a dozen oysters. They had six varieties available so we ordered two of each. Then we had the perfect wine to match. They serve the oysters with a frozen mignonette which we had never seen before. Our waiter suggested we use it as a palette cleanser between the oysters. This was a fantastic suggestion. For our second course we split an appetizer order of two crab cakes. Delicious. Hubby had the halibut for his main - cooked perfectly and I had the seafood stew. It was quite delicious. But...my favorite part of the entrée course was the cheese souffle that comes with every main course order. It's pretty clear that we were too full for dessert! The view of the water was amazing and the service was top notch! We literally only came for the oysters and ordered about 14 total along with some wine. I cannot remember the names of the type of oyster we got but it was all delicious. The prices ranged from $3.5 to $5.5 depending on which oyster you got. After a long hike up to Oyster Dome, I came to Oyster Dome famished and ready to slurp up some oysters. We walked in and were seated immediately at a window table where we could enjoy the sunset view over the islands and water. I highly recommend coming here 30-60min before sunset to enjoy the view and watch the sunset! For drinks, the Oyster Bar has a variety of local and foreign wines, ciders, and sodas that were delicious. For food, there was a plethora of oyster varieties (10-12 types) from Washington to Canada at different price points. It was very pleasant to try all the different oyster varieties during dinner. My husband and I came here for lunch on Father's Day. We thought we were going to Tyler's oyster bar, but this place is different, which is fine. It's a nice, upscale place, with upscale view and prices. The food was decent, but not anything to write home about. The French style sea food soup was super light and watery. We were surprised they called it a "bouillabaisse". It was good enough but not a "bouillabaisse". I think if I was French, I would be offended. The food is about a 3.5, 4 star. The reason I gave them a one star review is. If you are like me, more cautious about Covid, and Covid variants. Don't come to this place!!!! They decided, none of the servers, at least in the front of the house need to wear masks. They were completely maskless. When I realized, it was too late for us to walk out. I guess they have to the right to not wear any mask indoors? But I also have the right to not like it and not ever come again in the future. Sunday lunch get away took us to The Oyster Bar on Chuckanut Drive, a little ways past Mt Vernon Wa. Beautiful drive, we had a great seat for 2 in a corner with a wonderful view of Sammish Bay. Let's start with the bread and butter they serve, it is delicious! Warm rolls, with fancy butter. Appetizers, we had coconut curry clams, and a dozen oysters,(it is The Oyster Bar after all). The curry clams are amazing and have great curry flavor. They taste amazing. The had 6 different types of oysters in stock so we got 2 of each. I absolutely love raw oysters. This was a great trip around The Puget Sound with different types of oysters. From briny and seaweed tasting to meaty and sweet. The were delicious!! We the both order the gnocchi for our main, this dish is decadent, and delicious. The butter nut squash puree along with stuffed gnocchi is amazing. You should really try it. Our sides were an amazing beet salad and butter nut squash soup. Desert was a creme brulee and Pets De Nonne. This was an amazing meal, great service and wonderful view. Great place for a date! The first time we came here for an anniversary dinner 10 years ago was a "Wow" experience, but shockingly over-priced. The second time, last night, was a good, but not "Wow" experience and again over-priced. The view and ambiance is great. The service was very good and attentive. The food is good but not exceptional. The Crab cakes were good, but ordinary in flavor and amount of crab. The warm Spinach salad with goat cheese and a poppy seed/strawberry dressing was good, but swimming in dressing. The Cioppino had a very unusual (some kind of "odd" seasoning flavor and was light on seafood. It was OK, but did not Wow us. The Prawns seafood dinner I had was good, but not distinctive. The 2 glasses of wine we had (a French Sauvignon Blanc and a French Muscadat) were good, not great. The one dish that was outstanding was the Strawberry Rhubarb Cheesecake. It was a Wow. So, overall a good experience, but not a Wow experience. And the prices for everything seem excessively HIGH. We feel it is a good place to eat, but NOT a 5-star restaurant. read more

I was lucky enough to enjoy a terrific lunch at the Oyster Bar mid afternoon on July 4th. The service was outstanding as Mary did a superb job of juggling all of her tables and treating every customer as if they were her only care for the day. Hats off to you Mary as the level of service you provided is a rare talent these days. Now for the food. What more can someone who lives in an land locked state say but the freshness of each of the items was off the chart. The Fresh Oysters were just as good as I remember from my previous visit about 10 years ago. I enjoyed the Fish Stew which contained all fresh ingredients and fish items. One more notable feature was the request at the front door to leave the cell phones in pockets or purses. What this did was encourage dialogue at each table. As I was solo for this visit, it was a rare experience to see all of the engagement in conversation around me. My girlfriend and I have been here three times now. I can say their food is good, but I don't think it's good enough to justify the prices. Why do we keep coming back? It's probably the ambience and the service. Ambience: The decor is dated, but the view of the ocean makes it all worthwhile dining here. Service: The servers here are all mature and friendly, which I think adds to the ambience. Food: Their oysters are way overpriced, and they are not that great. Other dishes are fine, but still overpriced for the quality. This time we had a sole dish served with chanterelle mushrooms and black truffle and a boar dish. The black truffle was completely flavorless. Recommendation: The food is not bad, but I can't imagine anyone coming here if they didn't have the view of the bay. So, if you don't mind paying extra for the view, this restaurant is a good option. Pro Tip: It's better to take I-5 and get off at the Bow Hill Exit and head over to the Oyster Bar instead of driving on the narrow and winding parts of Chuckanut drive. It's longer but you can drive faster and safely. Another stellar meal at The Oyster Bar! Due to a family crisis, it's been an extraordinarily tough couple of months, and we're physically and mentally exhausted. So Hubs and I really needed a beautiful evening out. We decided on another visit to The Oyster Bar, since our last visit was so wonderful. It was a great choice! The appetizer we chose was probably one of the best dishes I've ever eaten: Smoked Salmon Napoleon (hot-smoked king salmon, marinated beets, Chèvre, basil, ginger oil and toasted pumpkin seeds.). We shared it, but I was wishing that I'd gotten my own. Everything else was good or excellent, but the other standout was Hub's entrée, a venison dish (one of the daily "specials"). The service was perfect, and our waitress was delightful. The ambiance is quiet and upscale, yet relaxed and cozy. And of course the view can't be beat. We've only been here twice, but this is clearly our favorite "nice" restaurant we've been to since we moved here a year ago. Fantastic hidden gem. True to the name in some of the freshest oysters as the farm is not even a mile away. Beautiful decor with a view that cannot be beat. I will say I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for a long time. It was a trek but well worth the drive. We had my wife's 40th birthday there with a reservation for 13 people. It was nice we had the whole downstairs for our party which fit perfectly. There is a rickety staircase that goes to the downstairs which was a concern for the older people but added to the ambiance to me. Every foot item that was ordered was delicious. Only problem was that one of our surf and turf orders was medium and it came out well after everyone else had finished eating. The server offered mussels to compensate for the missing dinner as they were quick to come out of the kitchen. Absolutely zero complains about the food. Asparagus soup was delicious, my wife ordered a salmon appetizer, which I don't remember the name but came out beautiful and my wife said she could have ate just that all night. All the oysters were superb quality and each steak was cooked perfectly. If I am ever in the general area I would go back in a heartbeat. But the dining experience was excellent, parking is difficult unless you luck out with one of the maybe 20 spots? I'm writing a one star review in hopes that the owners of this establishment will notice and take action in regard to putting cameras outside of their restaurant. My car window was smashed out and all belongings stolen around 7pm, two parking spaces down from the entrance of the restaurant on the same side. This happens FAR TOO OFTEN to so many people along this road which is so unfortunate. The employees have even begged to get cameras, as their cars have been smashed into as well. With the price of dining at this establishment and the quality that we are paying for, I'd think affording a couple of cameras to help support guests and their employees have a case against all of this infamous vandalism would be in everyone's best interest. read more

Attempted to go to the ever popular Taylor's shellfish farm, we were defeated by the long line from far. I remember passing through a nice place with a deck and a great view so I suggested going there. It really made my day! The whole experience was so chill and full of class and great translucent good views from the marine layer. There wine selection is limited but with quality. I was never a big fan of Italian wines but I liked the Chianti as the casa vino. It did have a sweet finish which was easy to drink. For lunch I wanted something warm so I had the steamed mussels with saffron, tomato broth, leeks, asparagus and fresh thyme. My friend had the Crab Cake made of Dungeness & Jonah crab, mango chutney, curry aioli, sautéed vegetables. We were both very pleased with our food. This was a 3-star meal bumped up to 4 stars because the views are extraordinary. The food was good and occasionally very inventive, like the crab brûlée appetizer. However, at 7pm on a Thursday night, they had already run out of both salmon and trout entrees. I had to get the crab cakes, which were fine but not spectacular. As other people have mentioned, it's also overpriced. Lastly, I was interested to learn that the goat cheese in their delicious soufflé was from Illinois. WA is a state with gorgeous chèvre all over the place. Why wouldn't you use local cheese? I'm not a strict locavore but I do appreciate fine dining that uses the best of Washington's bounty. On a recent road trip to Seattle Washington, I must say this restaurant took my breath away! Cozy elegant dining with a beautiful view of the bay and natural surroundings. I felt completely transported back in time when quality of food and service mattered. Most restaurants are more hype than substance; this place is quality and exceptional. A lovely quaint and charming restaurant, we were made to feel like family. 'Old school' decor and setting; very clean and elegant. Our orders were a work of art and all the flavors were well balanced. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of ingredients and combination. The halibut, trout, pasta, soup and salads were all perfectly prepared and served to please all senses. Future trips to Washington State will bring me back to The Oyster Bar! read more

I've been here multiple times and the food has been--until the last time--pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. Service is usually good and the room is very nice. That being said, this place is all about the view, and it's spectacular. The last time I ate there I ordered the fish and chips for $28. Sadly, they were among the worst fish and chips I've ever had at a price I've never before paid. The fish was soggy and even the chips weren't that great. I should have sent the meal back, but I never want to upset the others I'm eating with, so I soldiered on and ate what was on the plate. So, in summary, go there for the view (but don't order the fish and chips). But know that every entree has a $10 premium added to its price for that view. read more

We were so happy when we were making our way to our car... 0 stars for security or concern for customers once they pay the bill and leave. Our car had 2 windows smashed and car vandalized between 12:40 and 1:45 pm. Broad daylight. The cars in front and behind us as well. We reported to the police, then went inside to alert the restaurant leadership and alert the remaining car owners ( provided make/model/license plates) to the person inside who seemed to care very little. She said "it happens all if the time"! I now see another reviewer only 3 months ago posted the same problem! NO one offered to help us at least make our vehicles safe enough so we could sit in them to drive to a vacuum station so we could clean up enough to make the 3hr drive home.
