My four friends and I made a 6:45 PM reservation for a birthday dinner and arrived a few minutes early, excited for a nice evening out. Although our reservation was confirmed, we were told there was no table available in the main dining room and were instead seated in a back room near the kitchen, which was disappointing for a special occasion. One of my friends politely asked whether there might be a wait for a table in the main dining area. The manager, Corey, responded in a noticeably irritated and dismissive tone, making the interaction uncomfortable almost immediately. A few minutes later, he offered to move us to another table in the main dining room, and we simply asked for a moment to discuss it so we wouldn't inconvenience staff by moving unnecessarily. When my friend went to let them know we would accept the table, the interaction escalated further. She calmly explained that we felt the earlier communication had been rude and mentioned that we were there celebrating a birthday. The hostess stated Corey was likely stressed because it was busy, which we understood, but being busy does not excuse speaking disrespectfully to guests. Shortly afterward, Corey approached our table and told us we would not be served and needed to leave because my friend had supposedly "yelled at the hostess," which simply did not happen. No one in our group raised their voice, threatened staff, or behaved aggressively at any point. We were respectful throughout the entire situation. As we were leaving, my friend even apologized to the hostess if she felt uncomfortable and clarified that her frustration was only about the situation, not directed at her personally. To make matters worse, while we were standing outside deciding where to go instead, Corey came outside and told us he would call the police if any of us came back in. The entire experience was honestly shocking and humiliating. We came to celebrate a birthday and left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome over what began as a simple seating question. I understand restaurants get busy, but the way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional and escalated unnecessarily. read more

Who knew that this was the oldest bar and restaurant in Arizona?! Or that Doc Holliday was a patron back in the day? Stepping into the Palace felt like a time warp for sure! All the staff are dressed in what I can only describe as "western attire". Our party of three ladies came in on a Sat evening (early, too! Like 5:00 pm) and it was a packed house!! Wait times were quoted at 2 plus hours... since we were visiting from out of town, we figured we were going to be waiting for a while. All of a sudden, one of the hostesses/servers says to us "I'm gonna seat you ladies right here at this table if you're okay with that" (table in front of the host station) and we were absolutely floored!! Talk about a random act of kindness?!!!! She was truly a saint and we couldn't thank her enough for the rest of the night (and of course, we tipped her even though she put up a fight!) On to the main entrees, for the price point and the quality of the meal that you get, it's no wonder the Palace is a can't be missed spot when in Prescott!! We were in Prescott and decided to go downtown to old town Prescott and Whiskey Row for dinner. We Yelped several places but decided we wanted to see The Palace with it being the oldest continuously operating restaurant and bar in Arizona. We looked at a menu and decided to eat dinner here. It was Friday night and busy. They were short wait staff and said it would be a while before they could seat us. We found a table in the bar and ordered drinks and the host came up and said if we didn't mind sitting next to the bar he would seat us there and the bar staff would take care of us. Trey whom had taken our drink order in the bar became our waiter. Our drinks arrived and we ordered dinner. There was a great selection on the menu and we ordered dinner When it arrived we were very impressed. I had ordered the half rack of ribs and they were fall off the bone fantastic. All of us were extremely satisfied with our meals. This is a 1901 building and business and the staff is dressed in period costumes. The bar is the original bar from before the fire in 1900 when the whole area burned down. If you are in Prescott this is a don't miss experience. read more

Party of four, and this is a group of people who are used to eating steak. Quality matters. One person had a burger, but the other three had the flatiron steak, with different sides. Everyone was very pleased. The service was okay... she was really trying and it was very crowded on a Saturday evening in a tourist spot in summer. The only glitch was when two of the party wanted fresh drinks, but she just ordered another round for the whole table instead of verifying. But... though we are local and have a lot of other options in town, I would go back, maybe on a quieter day. read more

Cool historic restaurant on whisky row, the is supposedly haunted too. I guess the bar has a pretty cool story behind it. They saved it when the building caught fire. It was huge too, so impressive they were able to save it. The food was decent, I had a burger and some steak bites and an old fashioned. Fun place with lots of cool decor. I think this is one place everyone should checkout when visiting whisky row. The staff was friendly, but it was an unusually hot day and I'm not sure if they had AC but they were still pretty busy. Must try: Whiskey sour with the Madame Martha Whiskey. The waitress recommended, they make their own simple syrup and the whiskey is made locally for this bar. Best whiskey sour we have ever had!! The corn chowder. It has potatoes, corn and magic. Seasoned well, large bowl and best corn chowder I have ever had. My father has soup everywhere we visit and is a bit of a critic, he was in love. The green beans were soaked in maybe teriyaki, slightly sweet and wonderful. The fish and chips- both men loved the fish. Fries were mediocre. Skip: Was not a fan of the old fashioned drink here. The mushrooms in a skillet were slightly bitter, not for me. I love Cole slaw, but their coleslaw is yogurt based. So weird to my pallete, not mayo or vinegar like usually Cole slaw. Murals and memorabilia were pretty cool. They still have the original bar even though there was a fire in the early 1900s. The legend has it that all of the towns people ran and carried the large bar out to save it. The Palace Restaurant and Saloon is both the oldest business and oldest bar operating in the state of Arizona, United States. Located on historic Whiskey Row in Prescott, the saloon was opened in 1877, and rebuilt in 1901 after a disastrous fire swept the district in 1900. I love the palace! I've been coming here for decades. The menu could use a few lighter options. But the service is wonderful, the ambience fantastic, but I'm writing a review because they usually have the best shoestring fries. And today I went and they were just soggy, subpar funky fries that we're not good at all. But I'm hoping it was just an ordering issue because they were also out of crayons, and like two other dishes. I'm an Historic Bar and Saloon aficionado - yeah, I like them a lot. History, nostalgia for a bygone age, ambience and lots more! I've visited such historical American Pubs like Old Ebbitt Grill (DC), Pied Piper (CA) and many more... appreciating each and every one. But The Palace Restaurant & Saloon seems to be in a category on its own. It is the embodiment of the wild west lover's tavern. The moment you walk in from the street, you go back in time, to a time that appears to have stood still in Arizona's 1870s! Whether real history, the legend or other here say places infamous characters within its walls the likes of Doc Holiday and the Earp Brothers, Wyatt and Virgil, maybe Big Nose Kate among others. Bullet ridden holes in the ceilings attest to something nefarious! I wonder if there were dancing girls on the balconies and piano player by the bar back then? But, besides any potential hauntings, fabulous era melancholy and history, the place oozes with prompt, courteous and professional service, the aromas of both cooking and grilling in the background, hugeness and vastness of space, and an incredible array of eats. This is a place where you can not only drown yourself and quench a thirst in great whiskies and ales, but a huge assortment of vittles from their extensive menu. Friends visiting and we went to Whiskey row, because well...Whiskey. Stopped at the Palace and sat at the bar. The waitresses and bartenders all dress in the spirit of the Wild West. Love it! The bar itself is super old and if you talk to the fantastic bartender he will tell you the history. We had already eaten so we just went for cocktails. Poured to perfection. Stopped in for lunch on Sat afternoon over Memorial Weekend. Place was very busy and after being seated our server said to be prepared to wait quite a while for food. He was very pleasant, costumed in western attire and took our order. I used the restroom ( very clean ) to wash my hands and found a different waiter at our table explaining we were his table to wait on and there was a mix up. Ok - well his service was abysmal! He brought food and then had to be asked twice for a water & ice tea refill. Restaurant emptied out and he was nowhere to be found! Finally I flagged down a busser and asked him to find our waiter as we were ready to pay and had been sitting waiting with empty plates for 15 minutes for check. He finally showed up & said he had an important phone call / apologized. Food was okay, green chili soup was lukewarm so no great marks there either. Decor & ambience of this old saloon is terrific. Come for the cool atmosphere, but don't expect too much. The thick layer of dust on the picture frames was a real turnoff--the place needs a good cleaning. Tonight we were seated for over 90 minutes before our food arrived. Our server was apologetic for the kitchen running so slow, but the food was not worth the wait. The dinner salad was drenched in watery ranch dressing and the cod looked and tasted like grocery-store fish sticks. We left hungry and grabbed a slice of pizza from the restaurant next door. This place is a tourist attraction, so I am sure bad reviews won't hurt their business--but they need to give the place a good cleaning before the health department shuts them down. read more

This place was one of the pit stops on mine and my boyfriends trip to Arizona and we were impressed! This place gives off a very old "Western" vibe and it's a restaurant that used to be a hoo*** house LOL. The inside is really neat and you can truly feel the history in there. I didn't get any good quality photos of the food (they were blurry) but I did get a couple of photos of the inside, menu and my drink glass! They definitely know how to make a drink there, that's for sure. I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was really good! It was juicy, the bun was warm and extremely soft and the bacon was CRISP. It's hard to find good, crispy bacon on a burger. I also had coleslaw. That was a little too warm for my liking, but tasted good. We also had some onion rings and those were some of the best onion rings I've ever had. They were thick but the breading wasn't super crunchy/hard to bite down on. They were perfect. The service was really good! Everyone was really welcoming, kind and all around had good energy. Our waitress was really awesome, attentive and she was just very knowledgeable, which I love. The only reason I didn't give this place 5-stars is because it was pretty expensive for what we got. I understand inflation is a little crazy right now but for the food and the 1-alcoholic beverage and 1-regular beverage, it was a lot. We visited the Palace on 12/12 for Acker Night. We got there early and the restaurant wasn't busy yet. Our server was very nice. Our party ordered two Rough Rider Ribeye dinners and a Sullivan Sirloin. We were served the worst steaks we have ever had. The cuts of meat were bad. My husband's steak was about a third fat. The meat had no flavor and was a gross texture. We usually hit the Palace once or twice a year. We enjoy the history of the building. We won't be back. It was about $200 for a meal not even my young adult son could stomach. read more

What a fun place. This just happens to be the oldest Bar in the state of Arizona. Nowadays though it really is more of a family restaurant, though the bar remains. It's a little dark inside, but ultra cool with the waitresses dressing like old timey saloon girls, so fun. I am sad I forgot to get our waitress' photo. Crystal was a doll. I had a Cajun Salmon, husband had Lamb Shank, my aunt ordered Mushroom Chicken with a side of additional mushrooms. Their Corn Chowder was excellent too. Our drinks were great as well, and they had fresh brewed local beers on tap as well. It's really a must see in Prescott. Super fun. read more

I had a margarita called the Arizona Sunrise which was spectacular! I have yet to sample their cuisine so I can't comment on that but the drinks are fabulous! Interesting saloon/bar in the middle of downtown Prescott, could easily be a tourist trap, if it's not already one (lol). I wasn't planning on coming here but some friends were nearby and I decided to pop on by and gave it a try. They have quite a list of cocktails and why not get a whiskey-based cocktail at Whiskey Row? Amirite? I got the Peach Pecan Old Fashioned and boy this cocktail is sweeeeet. I enjoyed this spin of the good ol' Old Fashioned. The beast burger sounded really good with a mash-up of game meat and beef, so I decided to give that a go. I thought the burger itself was ok; it didn't taste or felt special or gamey or better than average in any means, but the fries were phenomenal. They are very thin, like the size of a shoestring kinda thin, but they are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside! Totally surprised me. I never had thin shoestrings fries that are like that; they are usually just kinda soggy or so crisp that they are almost like chips. So overall, not a bad place.
