The aged ribeye tomahawks are always prepared to perfection. After the check, someone ran from the back of the house to hand me a stack of takeout containers and the bone I requested for my dog wrapped in foil . Are you serious?! We were eager to return to the Tyson's Palm after a three-year COVID-based absence. Also to see what changes (besides adding some Italian dishes ) the new Landry's regime had made, In many respects, the restaurant is familiar (minus the host) and in some respects better. No more summer lobster specials, which many enjoyed every year (including us). Undeterred, we ordered an extra-large lobster to share, which was steamed more expertly than sometimes in the past. But $30+ a pound? Half-and-half better, less greasy, than sometimes in past. "Tuscan" beef tartare was not improved by a heavy hand with the horseradish (Tuscan?) which with other acids added turned the meat into a rather unappealing brownish lump - more like a meat ceviche than tartare. The octopus appetizer was much better. Still a good wine list (which is NOT well represented online) with a wide variety at several price points. Good, attentive, but not obtrusive service at our table but very noisy service at others around ours. It is comforting to know that Landry's has not homogenized The Palm (yet). read more

The jumbo shrimp cocktail was definitely jumbo but not worth $20 and the calamari was decent. We ordered the crab cakes and Rib eye, both very good but nothing out of the ordinary. The host was able to seat us which we appreciated even though he didn't think he could fit us in. I'm assuming therw were later reservations as it was pretty empty the whole 1 30 mins we were there. As although reviewers mentioned it is very loud in there. And it was not very crowded. The table was a little tight for 6 people. Could've have been because they has to fit us in. I'm used to the darker atmosphere at most steak restaurants. The prices are listed on the website so they were no surprise, but I still think they are way over priced for what you get. That being said the food was very good..just not worth it to me. The price is twice as much as a standard steak place (outback /longhorn) but not twice as good. But I understand you go there for the whole experience and not just for the food. Waitress was very attentive. On to the food..the sides we ordered were hash Browns, creamer spinach, fries, au gratin potatoes. I would not recommend the has Browns, they are literally something you get at a breakfast restaurant. The fries were great..kinda like five guys fries..which I love but at $16, not so much. Au gratin was a little bland. Loved the spinach. The table ordered linguine and clams...standard tasting. Nothjng to go out of your way for. Crab cake was very good. Too many things wrong with food and service to warrant a $400 dinner, we will not be back. $22 glass of wine was served warm and in a dirty glass, when asked for any other wine available at proper temperature, I was offered ice. When the food came out, the waitress never bothered to check on us again until we were finished. Wedge salads were floating in some clear mystery oil. Creamed spinach was so overcooked, it was brown. Steaks were completely undercooked. Bolognese tasted more like a kids marinara, as it was missing the ground beef, was severely under salted, and was not accompanied by parmesan. Came in recently for a business dinner and was greeted with rude and borderline racist comments by the hostess Adrianna. She told me that "the food here is terrible" and "I don't know if we have a table for YOU" looking me up and down I assume because I'm a black man. She then realized I was here for a business party that was already seated and had someone walk me to my table. The restaurant was empty and I don't see why there wouldn't be a table for someone. We came to celebrate a birthday. We made reservations for a party of 4. The restaurant wasn't very busy so we were waited on fairly quickly. You get cold, slices of bread after you are seated. The salads were fresh and tasted good. The steaks weren't worth the high cost. They were not seasoned (order 3 types) and there was quite a bit of fat on them. Green beans were bland. Celebrating our 6th Anniversary dinner @ the Palm in Tyson's Corner and dinner was good. They wishes us a Happy anniversary we arrived but another restaurant with the initials of RC has better presentation and well wishes for an anniversary. Due to the Commonwealth (finally) allowing restaurants to open to full capacity recently, it was nice to see that the restaurant was busy though the appetizers were limited and there were not any soups offered. We were told the calms casino had already sold out and we had a 6:30 dinner reservation. I requested a well manner, extra dirty, shaken martini, with Tito's and you can see the martini was not "dirty enough from the "lack of" brine and there was not any blue stuffed olives in the drink. That is the best part! The steak tartare that I ordered needed some salt...maybe some French Maldon sea salt to elevate it a tad. The three cheese potatoes au gratin were decadent. We also picked out a bottle of white French wine to accompany dinner but our server came back to unfortunately inform us that they were out fo stock so we settled for a Spanish white wine instead. Not pictured is the salad my husband had for an appetizer, the leaf spinach side that was aglio e olio, his portion of the 3lb lobster (that we shared) and his slice of cheesecake. One of the servers was kind enough to break the claws for us, thus the lobster photo is not the best photo. We previously had been frequent dinners at the Palm over the years and I am blaming Covid for the Palm not being as top notch is it used to be since the staff was stretched thin and the overall atmosphere was loud due to the high ceiling in the dining room. We had dinner here for my grand daughters sweet 16th birthday. We were a small group of 9. I will not recommend this place to anyone. First I have to highlight the good. The hostess upon arrival was a very sweet, and pleasant lady. Our waiter John did an amazing job. The mixed drinks and the bottles of wine we ordered were really good. Now to the food. Nothing I mean nothing we ordered was worth eating. Nothing had flavor. The birthday girl, my grand daughter did not like her first order of lamb chops. So John was nice enough to take it away and let her order something else. She ordered a shrimp dish that too was tasteless. I had the chicken parm, it taste like something that you would get from a fast food restaurant. No one finished their food because it just was not good. Well that happens sometimes you know. My issue was the manager. John decided to let the manager know that we did not enjoy our meal. So he comes over, I told him up front that we are not looking for a discount of any sort on our bill . I just thought he should know that we did not enjoy our meal and that everything on the table lacked flavor, thinking most chefs prefer feedback. His response was "well i haven't had any other complaints from any other table" that was unacceptable and inappropriate words to come from someone in management. Our experience is just that!! OUR EXPERIENCE. The managers attitude and his dismissive nature is why I will make sure everyone I know never ever even consider dining there. read more

I don't have a lot to say because it wasn't much of an experience. We ate and left. (Went to Wildfire for after dinner drinks) They sat us down and walked away. No menus, no water. Then after about 10 mins a server (not ours) came by and gave us menus. Finally Alex came and took our drink order and finally we got some water. Alex was casual. His casual demeanor may appeal to some but probably doesn't have a place at the Palm. He made for a horrible experience. Food was ok. Wasn't bad but didn't "wow" us. Alex served and left. Our drinks were empty for most of the meal. Table was completely cleared by the time he came back to see if we needed anything. The restaurant was 1/2 empty and there seemed to be more employees then customers and their service was still horrible. We asked for our bill and got out - wildfire for desert and drinks. There was another server who kept sneezing. Near tables, it happened several times. = gross. We would have drank more, we would have entertained dessert but had to leave! I am a man of conflicted opinions. What is my favorite ice cream topping, cookie dough or anchovies? Which of my kids is my least favorite (right now I'm leaning towards it being kelvin but that's just today). Do I really feel comfortable spending 300 dollars on a meal, no matter how well prepared? This question has weighed on me like the succulent medium rare 36 ounce steak I ordered for the low price of 99 dollars from the Palm weighed on my gastrointestinal tract. Every morning since I have looked at myself in the mirror, made very intimate eye contact with myself, and asked "who do you think you are?". And the only response I have for myself is that I am. Adam Smith once said that for any "rich man, there must be 500 poor". Robert Smith once said "Friday, I'm in love". And Kevin Smith once said, "you know what, maybe I should do a Paul Blart mall cop 2". But that's not important right now. That's just how the world works, and it's not like I was a 'good' person before I spent what a Cambodian laborer makes in a month on a single, admittedly pretty good, meal. If you have some cash you want to blow, you could do it at worse places, but there are also better places. 4.5 Stars! This place is a little further away than I would normally go for a night out but it was worth the trip! The restaurant itself is near the Tysons Corner Mall and kinda off of the beaten (mall) path. Once in I was greeted with warm smiles and directed to the bar. It was at the end of the first seating on a moderately busy weekend and there was a nice buzz all around. We ordered a few drinks and were notified that our table was ready. They noticed that i brought a couple bottles of wine and asked us if we wanted it delivered to the table and decanted. Nice touch! After running around all day, and crossing the moat to Virginia, I was HUNGRY! We started out with a couple of steakhouse standards. Beef tenderloin carpaccio and shrimp cocktail. At first i was a little apprehensive about the latter but after tasting the house made cocktail sauce, I was hooked! Not on the shrimp but the cocktail sauce! I believe the usual suspects were used and they included a sweet and spicy chili sauce! I could by this by the gallon and bathe in it! The carpaccio was simplistic but full of flavor and texture topped off with peppery arugula and shaved Parmesan cheese. Who goes to a steakhouse and doesn't order a wedge salad! Okay... Wait... Who goes to a steakhouse and doesn't order a wedge salad and "Andy's" mixed greens salad?!?! #NotUs. A wedge is a wedge?!?! Nope! i prefer this presentation os smaller heads of lettuce vs a portion of a larger head of lettuce. All of the dressing poured into the open leaves of lettuce and the walnuts, danish blue, bacon and fried shallots sprinkled all over! Andy's mixed greens salad was a bit over dressed but tasty just the same ! masculine, Romain and iceberg lettuces with radishes, tomatoes and a light garlic vinaigrette. I'm Full!! Oh. Wait... Didn't we order entrees? The reason for this dinner was to participate in the annual #4lb Nova Scotia Lobster promotion! Unbeknownst to me my dining companion requested a #5lb lobster! Not a problem! We paired that with a ginormous tomahawk ribeye and a side of something greenish... can't even remember! After a very nice dining experience at The Palm DC a few months ago, I had put 'Palm SteakBurger for lunch' on my to-do list, so off to the Palm in Tysons I went on a recent afternoon. (The burgers, FYI, are only offered during lunch.) I had the 837 SteakBurger, named after the Palm's original location at 837 Second Avenue in New York. The burger featured, from the bottom up, fontina cheese, a slice of prosciutto di Parma, and roasted red peppers. It does come with a pesto aioli, but I normally ask for the spreads on the side, since I've come to learn that many burger buns can't stand up to the burger on their own. This one was no exception, the bun falling apart mid-way through - definitely a 'knife-and-fork' burger, and that takes some of the enjoyment out of a good burger for me, not being able to hold it in my hands and just dig in. As for the burger itself, it didn't live up to my expectations, being just okay. The burger is made of USDA Prime beef, but it had a mouth-feel that wasn't particularly satisfying to me. The fries were fine, a thinner cut that unfortunately don't hold their heat for very long. The bright spot was the service, with the very friendly and professional bartender helping me pick out a new bourbon for my mid-day Manhattan. (No, I wasn't working that day...) I do prefer the set-up of this location to the one in DC, with a nicely sized, clubby bar area that's in a separate space from the main restaurant, and the windows in the main dining room make for a more appealing dining experience than downtown. Of course, caricatures a-plenty adorn the walls. Overall, not as great of an experience as I had for dinner at the Palm in DC. When you want a good burger, you want a good burger, and The Palm didn't quite hit the mark for me. read more

I definitely love this place. It was a great experience to try their huge lobsters. We came here with almost 18 guests I believe therefore we had a private room which it was amazing since the room blocked all other noises outside. It was my first time here, so my boyfriend's sister suggested us to try the two people deal meal courses. It came with lobsters and a side dish I believe for $79.99 (best deal). Oh god, the lobsters were huge and I couldn't even finish it. Just a head up that you need to call before to make sure they have lobsters or you can make reservation. The servers were very nice and served us well. They kept coming back to check on us and my water was always filled. I was really satisfied with their services. The number of happy hours and work lunches/ dinners I have attended here is just insane! I guess that's the advantage of having this place in the same building as where I work. I like coming here for happy hours mostly, the bar is nice and very classy according to me. They have caricatures of political figures all over the place and the vibe is very nice. Obviously, it is pricey and a little snooty at times. Dinner and lunch tend to be extremely over priced and the number of veggie options are limited. I don't totally get The Palm, the prices and clientele all lead you to believe that this is a high end establishment but the overall delivery of the entire product just didn't deliver what I believe to be true 5 star or high end dining. First off I don't get the décor at all; it appears to be a total mismatch. Half of it is indeed all things a fine dining place would have such as nice hard wood floor, beautiful white table cloth, nice furniture etc... but for some odd reason the walls are covered in cartoons such as Batman or Family Circus or caricature of famous people both local celebrities and national celebrities. Maybe I don't know enough of the history of The Palm but I don't get why a high end place would have cartoons all over the wall like it was Ruby Tuesday's for Fridays. Service was good, they offer free complimentary valet parking for anybody who dines there, the valet guy was attentive and took and returned the car quickly. The host was also friendly and welcoming. The waiter was a nice guy as well, he did his job of not only explaining menu items but also offering specials of the day and recommendations as to what should be ordered. The guy who cleaned the dishes from the table and also cracked my lobster for me was nice as well. Nobody was too pushy or on top of you to eat quickly or constantly order things. The noise level is way too high; I and my dinner companion basically had to shout to be heard by each other. The noise level lowered as the restaurant emptied but during busy hours it is not the place to have an intimate conversation. The food was hit and miss, I shared a 4 pound lobster and 16 oz. filet as well as having an appetizer of bacon wrapped scallops and two sides of steamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms and a slice of cheesecake with raspberry sauce for dessert. The bacon wrapped scallops were delicious, bacon flavor was excellent and the scallops seasoned and cooked perfectly, definitely worth a try, the dipping sauce I can't recall what was also excellent and the perfect complement to the scallops. The lobster was also delicious, nice quality of meat, no complaints about the lobster at all. The steak was rather bland, not properly seasoned and did nothing for me. Don't get me wrong it was a juicy piece of steak and more than likely a mid to lower high quality piece of meat but the flavor just wasn't there, kind of watery taste to the meat, definitely not worth the price. The steamed spinach also was not very flavorful and I did not enjoy the sauce placed on top of the sautéed mushrooms, I believe it some form of vinaigrette and I didn't enjoy the taste. Also both the spinach and the mushrooms tasted watery, the flavor was just not what I would expect from a high end restaurant. The cheesecake was delicious, I don't know if it is made on site or not but nice fluffy and the raspberry sauce was excellent. All in all I was a little disappointed in The Palm, don't get me wrong it is a nice place and possibly worth a visit but I don't put in on the level of a high end restaurant. I won't complain about the prices because I knew what the prices were going in but I do feel like when you're paying high end prices you should get a certain level of return on your money, I don't feel like I got as much from the Palm as I put in. Worth a visit if you can afford it but if you're on a budget and only get to splurge on a meal occasionally I would go elsewhere. The Palm has been a restaurant that I've been wanting to try for a long time and finally got around to trying it. I must say that I was very pleased with the food and the service received. All the staffs there were very welcoming and attentive, they had lots of great energy and humor which made my dine in experience very enjoyable. For starters we had the bacon wrapped scallops and one word, MONEY!!... moving on to our entrees, we ordered the lamb chops (cooked medium) and of course the bone in rib-eye steak (cooked medium as well). Both were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Lastly to top it off with the sides, we ordered fries and Brussels sprouts which was also very good. I would rate this place a solid negative if I could. I went with 2 other work colleagues and we had the happy hour filet, calamari and lobster sliders. The waitress told us there was enough from lunch to make one order of lobster salad as these were no longer offered in the evening. I ate one and opened the second to share with others when another person in our party noticed they had a fishy smell and taste. We stopped eating them. I was up all night extremely sick and called Tim the general manager who stated he had been with the company 20 years the next morning. Tim argued with me and didn't even as much offer an apology. I can more than afford to eat anywhere I wish and had hoped he would have made an effort to throw away remaining lobster salad and to follow-up to ensure i was ok. Another colleague called he restaurant also speaking to Tim to report he had been sick also with the same comments. I ordered the filet which was absolutely incredible. We ate outside due to covid-19. Every thing was going well until we saw several rats scurry by our tables and hang out in the bushes next to us. They need to do a better job with pest control if customers are sitting outside. It ruined my appetite and my whole experience. This is a dual review of a day of (not) healthy eating. We inadvertently enjoyed a day of meat Saturday with lunch at the Shake Shack and dinner at the Palm. For about $20 for lunch we got the thrill of searching out a parking place in downtown. One side of 19th I believe it was, was being restriped or something and their were notes taped to the meters to that affect but plenty of cars were parked there anyway so we grabbed a spot. But knowing the car might be gone by the time we returned added just a little heart thump to the meal. On the walk to Shake Shack we passed hundreds of people dressed in various Santa get up headed to the various bars having Xmas afternoon events. Very amusing. And the burger. 20 bucks or so for two smokeshakes. Excellent meat cooked just right with smoked bacon, spicy peppers, a milkshake, and cheese fries. How does calorie intake get any better. Nice walk back to the car which was still there. Dinner at the Palm. Exceptional steak, though no one needs to eat a piece of meat that big. The restaurant was way over crowded and too noisy to have a good conversation. Server was rushed. Few bottles of wine under $100. Bill was over 10 times that of the burger we had for lunch. Now certainly the world needs burger joints as well as upscale restaurants. But, for 10 times the price, the upscale place ought to be 10 times as good. Or at least better. I took my wife here for an anniversary dinner and was not disappointed. Neither was she. I had eaten here with our corporate group a few times and thought it would be a terrific place to take my bride. The Oysters on the Half Shell were incredible, and served as they should be (on ice). The Crabcakes with mango salsa was an excellent choice for dinner and the creamed spinach made for an excellent side dish. My bride had the filet which was about as perfect as it gets. Yes, we sampled each other's dishes and I have to say it was all good. Neither of us are lobster fans, so it didn't bother us to not have any lobster, which seemed to be very popular here based on our observations as we watched servers bring some of the largest lobsters I'd ever seen to some of the well dressed guests at surrounding tables. Everything is a la carte but between the atmosphere (nostalgia everywhere) the top notch service and the food I could only wish this place were in my weekly budget. If you want to take your spouse someplace special, this is the place. The Palm - Tysons - Seafood Near Me - Tysons Corner, Virginia

I used to come here fairly regularly when I worked in the area. My 2 favorite dishes were the scallop salad and the crab soup. The crab soup special typically only appears on Mondays, and one of my coworkers would coordinate his lunches for Mondays specifically for the crab soup. The crab soup isn't a cream soup like you'd expect - it's a broth base with a generous helping of crab in it. The business lunch is a great deal - a little over $20 for a 3 course meal. In addition, they're usually pretty accommodating, and have let us pay the business lunch price even if we make a few substitutions or swap out the business lunch salad for another salad on the menu (or another dessert on the menu). The service is always great. The staff even pay attention to little details like giving you black table napkins if you're wearing a dark color or white napkins if you're wearing beige or white. Parking can be inconvenient. There's 3 options - park at Tysons II mall and navigate the hallways/elevators, park in the office garage and pay up to $8, or take advantage of the restaurant's valet parking. read more

Ate here August 29th 2019 with my wife and had an amazing meal, Bobby our waiter was excellent! The Filet and Strip steaks were cooked exactly how we ordered them and the sides were all tasty and piping hot. Great wine list as well.....We'll be back many times! SO you go around where you live trying different steakhouses and I came across the Palm in Northern Virginia (Tysons). I've heard great things about the Palm (dime a dozen chain) so I was expecting at least something decent, but this was a disappointing experience. I came here one evening at a not too busy time, at a later time, 8pm with my wife and cousin. The service was fine, the food was timely, but here's the problem, let me cut to the chase, I found someone to be unethical in how my food was cooked/served. Someone burned the bottom of my steak, yes, I know what a sear is, and I know what a mistake is. This was burnt like someone forgot it was on the grill. Someone clearly burned the bottom of my steak and tried to hide it by serving it with the burnt side facing the bottom. I didn't want to complain because if someone was unethical enough to flip the steak so the burnt side was on the bottom, then who knows what will happen if I reorder my steak. However, my wife and cousin could tell I was very unhappy so my cousin mentioned something to the waitress. She came by and looked at it and said, that's just normal. I responded, "if that's normal, why does the top look different, and not taste like bitter crystalized ash?" To which she said "let me get the manager" with somewhat of an attitude in her voice. Number one, the steak was burnt, number two, someone tried to hide this by flipping it to the bottom side, number three, the waitress was not experienced enough to know this, number four, the attitude. I really didn't care to see the manager. Although another steak was offered to me, I just lost my appetite. I know I sound like some stuck up prick but this is an expensive steakhouse you're trying to have a nice, relaxing dinner with loved ones, and someone tried to serve me a steak with the burnt side served on the bottom, I don't trust the second steak. My husband and I experienced The Palm for the first time in Valentine's Day. We were disappointed by the overall experience. Location: poor signage. Confusing to identify parking. We ended parking in the parking structure near Founding Farmers which had a lot of signage. Ambiance: it's a trendy old school chic vibe. The walls are painted with cartoon portraits of people which gives it it's low key style however it has the steakhouse feel to it, in terms of reception, mtiple wait staff. Staff: friendly and comfortable. Our waitor was nice. Nothing over the top excellent but ok. Other waitors were loud and someone yelled "shit" which was surprising but not sure what the context was. Food: a mess. Poor considering the cost and that it's a steakhouse and we ordered two different steaks and they both had issues. I ordered the smaller filet medium. It was medium rare to rare. Medium for me was pushing it. I asked that it get cooked more. It came back charred on the outside and still not as cooked on the inside. That was disappointing especially for a $50+ steak. My husband ordered the boneless ribeye. ABSOLUTELY no salt touched that steak. My husband doesn't add salt to anything but one bite and he immediately grabbed the salt. This is a steakhouse- you should know how to properly cook and season your steaks! We also ordered two sides: gnocchi and green beans. The gnocchi was ok. It was dry but ok. The green beans came sauteed but plain. It was suppose to have pancetta and pine nuts. Nope. Just a dish of unseasoned green beans. We also ordered desseet- not bad. Pumpkin creme brulee and flourless chocolate cake. To cap it off, they charged us for an extra glass of wine we didn't order. We asked they remove it and they did without issue. We've been at places where there's a hiccup here and there but my goodness. This was our first Valentine's day in NOVA and as husband/wife. We were excited to try this establishment out but very disappointed in the quality control of what they served. I understand that it's busy on 2/14, but you have to step it up to provide your customers the experience you're advertising. read more

We wanted to celebrate a small victory here at home with some delicious takeout, so we opted for "The Palm". Uber east delivered a perfectly cooked and packaged feast for us. I had the double cut Prime NY, hands down the best steak ever and I have had my fair share of some pretty amazing steaks.
