Worth the wait! This spot has pretty limited seating, so we had about a 25 minute wait on a rainy Tuesday morning, but oh my gosh was it worth it! I've had French toast at pretty much every breakfast chain you can think of, along with many locally owned establishments on our travels, and this was hands down THE BEST French toast I have EVER eaten! My kids eat like birds unless they really like something and they finished their blueberry and strawberry pancakes in record time! My husband's #10 skillet got a rave review from him too. This place was recommended by our hotel concierge and it was a great one. They only seat 49 customers at a time but have a nice outdoor seating area to wait. My husband and I came here for our last vacation breakfast! I read many reviews about this place and noticed that rules that are posted there are taken very seriously and some get even upset about it. We had not experienced any issues with this place. We were greeted right away. We were seated right away. I understand today is Monday but today is also Labor Day Monday therefore the Lake is full of visitors still. My husband got a short stack of blueberry pancakes. Those pancakes are bigger then the large plate they were served on. Our advice is unless you are sharing or starving, don't get the short stack. We are taking more then a half of his stack home now. But quality is great! I got Greek omelet and it was delicious! Lots of veggies and feta. The only thing I did not like is how saturated my toast was in some butter like substance. Next time I will ask for dry toast. We will definitely tell our friends to visit this place and we will too on our next vacation to this area. read more

Yelp describes a 3-star rating as "A-ok," and that perfectly sums up the two consecutive mornings we had breakfast at The Pancake House the weekend after Memorial Day. A solid, all around breakfast spot that has some good things going on, but didn't quite measure up to the 5-star raving reviews. The restaurant was very busy both mornings and we agreed to split up our party of six so we could be seated in a decent amount of time the first morning (the restaurant is fairly small with limited seating). I went with the 3 egg breakfast that comes with bacon, sausage, hash browns, and a choice of toast or a small pancake (side note: the "regular" sized pancakes are the size of a plate). I went with double bacon instead of the sausage like any reasonable person would, substituted fruit for the hash browns, and went with the small pancake. After all, it's The Pancake House, am I right? My over easy eggs were undercooked and the pancake was really dry. The crispy bacon and fruit were both very good. One of the guys in our party got an order of the beignets and he said they were amazing (they certainly looked amazing). Day two was another busy day, but our party was able to sit together. I went with the 2 eggs breakfast this time, and my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly this time. The bacon was also good, but the pancake was very dry once again. The Pancake House is an Osage Beach staple, and I would encourage anyone visiting the area to give it a shot for a consistently solid breakfast. read more

Everyone we talked to in the Lake Ozark area recommended the Pancake House for the best breakfast in the area. The best I could give the place based upon my experience is 3 stars - A-OK. When you drive up to park, you immediately recognize the place as an out of business Sonic Drive-in. Due to the limited size, there is limited seating, and therefore threats written on the wall like commandments - Thou shall not dawdle after eating - just eat and LEAVE. Do NOT, under ANY circumstances ask to be seated until everyone in your party has arrived, etc. There was nothing special about their pancake (I couldn't even eat my half they are so huge). Maybe I got my hopes up since I seem to be on a never ending search for the best pancake - this one didn't even make the top 10. Their bacon was crisp as ordered, but so lean it had no real taste. My half omelette (wife and I split one) was delicious, perfectly cooked. Hash browns were tasty, but standard, and that's just my opinion. read more

Was on a weekend trip with my wife and a bunch of other friends. We were craving breakfast food and from the looks of it, this place was the best place around. We went Sunday late morning and it was relatively full. There were a couple of small parties ahead of us, but the hostess told us it would be a 25-30 minute wait, because we had a party of 14. Instead of all sitting together, we decided to split up after about 15 minutes of debating on what to do. The hostess and servers were very patient with us as we kept flip flopping between staying or going to another place. We eventually decided on staying and splitting up the party. A party of 6 sat inside, while the rest sat outside. I had one of the specials on the board which was just named "Pancake." It came with two pancakes, two eggs, and bacon for $7.99. Just a warning, the buttermilk pancakes are HUGE. They were probably a good 8" in diameter. The eggs were a little undercooked, and the bacon was cooked just the way I like it, a little on the crispy side. It's right by the overpass on 54 and KK. I called the restaurant to ask. Apparently, they get that a lot. This place is tiny. 6-8 tables at best. We ended up sharing a table with another couple. It's definitely a local place and super friendly. The locals we sat with come here weekly. She said there wasn't anything less than amazing on the menu. She was right. My daughter ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and I ordered the banana foster pancakes and the breakfast quesadilla. I ordered half sizes and still couldn't eat it all. I had enough for lunch and to share. Breakfast quesadilla is little triangles of goodness. They were so full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The banana fosters pancakes.... Oh my. My fellow yelpers, you have really stuffed the ballot box with this one. We both had the chicken fried steak. The steak floats inside a wrapper of fried breading, reminded me of a pita bread pocket; clearly straight from the freezer to the grease. There was a small stripe of white gravy that only covered about a third of the steak. We had to order a side of gravy each to finish the job- that was an extra $3 each. Not cool. The gravy is not up to par, actually tasted sweet. Diners north of the Mason Dixon- please learn how to make saw mill gravy.... I beg you! The potatoes were good as were the eggs. The service was spot on. Consistent refills with the coffee, great interactions with our waitress and the owner. Wish the food matched the people. Be sure to get a seat inside. We sat on the patio which was lovely until the crowds showed up. They leaned in on the outside railing about 4 feet from the table and stare at you while you eat like an animal in a cage at the zoo. Oh my Yumminess! I would frequent this place if I lived here. The prices are a bit steep but the portion sizes make up for it. I do wish you could get more half orders of things. Given a table in the corner that was full of live flies. We asked to be moved and they said once you sit somewhere you cannot move to a different table. There were open tables available. Rule could not be broken, even for health reasons. Been there lots of times since we live in the area and never had any issues. Very disappointing.
