The old-school decor is part of the magic--full of nostalgia and warmth that's getting harder to find these days. You really get great value for what's served; portions are generous, and the food hits the spot every time. While staff turnover can be noticeable due to seasonal hires, service has never been an issue in all my visits--always friendly and efficient. I truly hope this place stays just the way it is for years to come. It would be amazing to see future generations enjoy The Pancake Man as much as we have. A true local gem! read more

Please serve kids drinks with lids. Giving toddlers glass cups is asking for a disaster. The eggs were rubber, the vegetables in the omelet weren't even cut, the pancakes were rubber and the staff was eating their own breakfast behind us while we were waiting for a check. read more

I've been coming here for 40+ years and sadly this is my last visit. While the waitress was great, the pancakes I had were definitely not what they used to be. Tough to cut and very dry. My daughter ordered an omelette that was overdone and greasy. When it was time to pay the bill, we gave exact change, which would ensure a nice tip for our waitress. However, we were told that they "round up the amount". WTF? So, for example, the 48 cents was suddenly 50 cents. The nasty woman at the front desk wouldn't accept the exact amount of the bill (system automatically rounds up according to her). Between the subpar food, ridiculous "system" that rips off the customer and the nasty attitude at the front desk, the Pancake Man is no longer a breakfast stop during our vacations on the Cape. read more

The Pancake Man has flipped his last flap jack. We've been going here for about 20years. We were just there this June and the pancakes tasted like they were nuked from frozen. Horrible. To top it off - apparently this business now overcharges their customers. Our bill came to some change of .48c - I gave them exact change. The woman told us their system "rounds up" bills - so it was now .50c. I argued with them but they kept saying "it's our system". STAY AWAY from any restaurant that OVERCHARGES their customers. read more

We had breakfast today and we were pretty disappointed. We both had omelettes that were huge and very dry and over cooked. I thought maybe if I put a little butter on mine it would help. It didn't. It was butter with some kind of sweetener in it. The potatoes were nothing special. No seasoning and way too many. I asked for my toast to be well- toasted and it was barely toasted at all. The pancakes were so huge my husband couldn't even eat half. May they have a new cook for this season. Maybe it was because they had just re-opened for the season. Needless to say - we won't go back. The signage outside is warm and inviting. The inside of the diner is classic Cape Cod. Service was alright, the waitress was friendly. My partner loved their green chili breakfast burrito ($16.50) with a glass of orange juice ($7.00). I opted for the Irish Eggs Benny, which was not the best ($16.00). The eggs were overcooked and the potatoes tasted like burnt garlic powder. Red peppers were mixed in the hash- strange combination. We were two parties of 4, and they wouldn't allow us separate checks. How hard is it to do two separate family bills? Never had that happen. Food was not great. I ordered an omelette with cheese, which I had to send back. Cheese was cold. The eggs tasted dry and not fresh. Potatoes and toast were fine. Husband ordered pancakes with strawberries. We expected fresh strawberries. Instead, they were disgusting marmalade types. My son liked the chocolate chip pancakes. That was the only positive during our experience. Wouldn't come back. Do not go here. Visited this establishment for the gluten free pancakes they advertise. Unfortunately, when we ordered an omelette that comes with regular pancakes, they refused to substitute the gluten free pancakes. The manager, in a hostile manner, told us that we could not add gluten free pancakes to the order. She did not care that it was an allergy. The alleged explanation was that the owner is strict around the "cost of the batter" so no substitutions were allowed. Although we later found out that the gf pancakes were premade and most likely frozen. So even ordering the gf pancakes by themselves, you cannot add anything to them. They only offered to give chocolate chips in a cup on the side. This was very disappointing. Not allowing substitutions in a general sense is understandable, especially at a locally owned level. However, when an allergy is involved, and the patrons are willing to pay for the gluten free up charge, the accommodation should simply be made. The only option was to accept a gluten based side (toast) in lieu of pancakes which is obviously unacceptable. We will not be going back and we will be warning everyone we know who visits the cape about this place. read more

Wish we could give this place more than 5 stars. My husband and I are visiting on the Cape this week and were looking for a place to stop and eat an early breakfast with our 2.5 year old son (he's up at 6AM). Most breakfast places weren't opening until 8AM or 9A, which was not an option for our hungry (and demanding) little guy to wait that long. We took a chance on The Pancake Man, provided it was close by and open at 7AM and man, were we impressed. Service was impeccable. The gentleman who was our server was beyond kind, attentive and professional and even engaged sweetly in conversation with our son throughout the meal. Our food came out almost instantly after we ordered and every single thing we had was phenomenal. My son (who is picky) devoured the kids size french toast (which was fairly large, actually). My husband (where the pickiness stems from) couldn't stop raving about his "cinnful" pancakes and practically licked the plate clean and I was beyond thrilled by my Irish eggs benedict, which I always order apprehensively at new places, knowing corned beef can be either fantastic or horrible. The corned beef was flavorful, the hollandaise sauce was rich and buttery, and I second my husband in singing the praises of the home fries. I have a hard time giving this restaurant 3 starts, it's not a 2 because of the excellent service we received from our waitress. Our group ordered eggs benedict (tasted like a kids cafeteria version of the typically delicious breakfast option, home fries were also hard and undercooked), a breakfast burrito (it had potential, but not exactly great), breakfast nachos (again, not a favorite), and pancakes. The regular pancakes were actually pretty good, and the orange juice was very fresh. Those were the only parts of the meal that I enjoyed. The coffee seemed to be burnt. The restaurant was pretty busy, and I think toursits might get drawn in by the cool name. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are going for 8/10 pancakes and fresh orange juice. read more

The sign outside is fun and inviting. There is a big parking lot. The restaurant is big and has lots of tables. It's not too expensive. That's about all the positive things I have to say. It's basically a large diner. The food is not great quality. 3 of us had pancakes, and they just tasted kind of weird, overly salty and not fluffy. Good local brunch spot if you can get in between the crowds. Went here on a recent visit to the Cape. We were able to sneak in between the crowds and got a little table right in the hustle and bustle. Our service was relatively fast, though it was hard to get a refill on coffee. The prices were good for what you get. The pancakes were larger than we needed, even splitting an order, but I enjoyed the leftovers later. The Irish Eggs Benedict was tasty, including a good english muffin which is often an afterthought. By the time we left, there was a huge line to pay, and I get the impression that this could sometimes be a bit of a slog. This place was recommended by some family friends so my husband and i tried it out. My husband got the egg breakfast and i got the red white and blue French toast. The first thing is that my husband likes his coffee strong and black and he said the coffee was pretty weak. Then when we got our food, the potatoes were cold? We didn't say anything about it because we didn't want to wait for the food. Everything else on the plate was good. Mine was strawberry, blueberry, and bananas. It would have been 100 times better if the strawberries and blueberries were fresh. But it was still good. Great service. We will have to try the pancakes next time haha. read more

Very good home fries here. The place was very busy with only one server, so getting a water or a coffee refil took understandably longer than usual. However they had a great breakfast menu with something for everyone. A good selection of juices and pitchers of mamosas. The seating and entry areas were immaculate! Windowsills were spotless. Chandelier lighting had no dust and you could tell everything is wiped down daily. Ordered a Reuben today for lunch. The menu described a classic Reuben - hot grilled sandwich with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, sauce, etc, as you would expect. Half sour pickle on the side. We were told "it would be a while" because they were busy - and they were busy, so no problem. But really it wasn't an unreasonable wait. When the plate was handed to me it was a cold sandwich, bread not grilled, cheese not melted, no sauce, no pickle. I was offered mustard if I wanted it. The waitress dropped it and took off. When I got up and approached her about it, she gave me a look like I was inconveniencing her but took it to the kitchen. She then came back and told me that "the owner said they were too busy and they would not grill it", that I could order something else instead. I told her no, I would not be ordered something else. I mean, if they have the time to cook up something else for me, why don't they have the time to properly prepare what I ordered the first time? If I had ordered a well done burger, would they have brought me a bloody raw hamburger instead, because they didn't have time to grill it? I found the excuse utterly ridiculous and would absolutely not recommend this place. As an FYI - they did remove my meal from the bill. read more

Old Rustic/weathered building on the cape that has been around for years. Rumor had it the "pancake man" still eats here almost everyday after 40+ years! :) This place is KNOWN for their pancakes and selection. Leave it to me to want something else. I got French Toast that were "Belgian" like. Decent. Although the syrup seemed too watery. Prices are a little high but so is most of the stuff on cape cod. Been before....will go again. If I could give zero stars I would. Despite some negative reviews I read about, I was excited that they had gluten-free pancakes so decided to give the place a try. It was a ghost-town when I arrived which I was hoping wasn't a bad omen. I first ordered decaf coffee-- it smelled burned so decided to hold off on trying it until my food order was placed. I explained that I'm on a medical diet and limited in what I can have which the server acknowledged. I asked for a simple spinach omelet without cheese and a glute-free pancake. I was told that I could have the omelet but not the pancake as the pancakes only come in the "special" listed on the menu ($14 +$2 for gluten-free). They would not accommodate me even with my medical condition and being their only customer--very disappointing to say the least. I ended up walking out and driving a few minutes into Dennis to Good Friends Cafe which was a great experience and someplace I will be sure to return to when I'm in the area again. read more

A long, long time ago, this spot used to be the go-to for a breakfast adventure. Fast forward to last year and this year, and it seems like the breakfast baton was handed to Captain Meh, with food so bland it makes vanilla ice cream look wild. As soon as you walk in you are made to feel welcome, the hostess is a lovely lady she talked to us when we first came in and then again when we left. The food is so good. Our server was great too. We had the Red, White and Blue pancakes, wow is all I can say, they are so tasty. My husband also ordered the home fries, which I kept taking from him, they were very good.
