I've been here twice. This morning and about a month ago. Trust the empty parking lot. Honestly, I won't be back after this morning's complete lack of service, the level of disrespect and a server's inability to show sorrow, to take responsibility and to treat me like the polite patron I was. We were actually greeted very friendly by a waitress who warned us not to sit at a certain table because the AC was leaking. --You guy's gonna fix it? Yea probably not-- Anyway, we ordered canned coke with a glass of ice (they don't readily serve a cold beverage with ice) and some waters (again a side of ice) This took quite a while. The waitress took our order. My friend ordered a western omelet and a side of sausage. I ordered a basic 2-egg scrambled plate with homefries, white toast and bacon. We waited and waited. It took over 30 minutes. A different waitress brings food over finally. My friend got his. And the other plate was a steak plate. Dumbfounded, after we made it clear no one ordered steak, the original waitress comes over and lets me know I ordered steak, and was quite confrontational and rude. I'm like, no I didn't. I never uttered the words (and more importantly - in a meh place to begin with, I'm not gonna order steak) Well. This is when things took an awkward turn. The waitress who got my order wrong never returned to the table. Like NEVER. More minutes go by. Another plate is brought to the table. No bacon and I'm not sure how the eggs were prepared? Over hard? At this point, I've been sitting, waiting for food, which I ordered right around 9am. It's now 9:45 and after the second wrong plate, I said forget it and watched my friend take a few bites before declaring it was pretty bad and this experience ruined breakfast. We had to flag down a waitress, because at this point, they were collectively ignoring us. It seems to me that this used to be a great place. I will stress that I was most pleasant to the staff throughout this. I never got an "I'm sorry," or "is there anything we can do to make it right?" Instead, it was all my fault for just wanting a basic breakfast. They literally gave no effs if I had food or not. Never again. This place should be shut down. Ya'll oughtta be ashamed of yourselves. Well, unfortunately this place must have changed hands during COVid. What was once the place to get "magical" pancakes is now a total bust out. After waiting close to 30 mins if not more we were served the worst breakfast on the cape. My mushroom & provolone omelette was so over cooked that the eggs were paper-like. The mushrooms were bland and my grilled English muffin was barely toasted in the toaster and hardly buttered. My friend's blueberry pancakes were raw in the middle - all 3! There is definitely a language and culture difficulty there as anyone here knows that a grilled muffin is buttered and grilled on the flat top grill. We also had to ask for a coffee refill which should have been automatically done. Although the waitstaff was pleasant enough I cannot recommend this place anymore. Sorry. read more

What a hidden gem!! It's very small but MUCH MUCH better than all of the much higher priced breakfast places in Cape Cod. The quality is EXCELLENT and very reasonable (for the Cape). The ambiance is quirky retro (you'll see lol) and charming. I had the Florentine eggs Benny and hubby had the sampler with everything including pancakes. The new menu has about half the options the previous one did, and there were no specials. Bacon was tasteless and rubbery. The toast we ordered was wheat, but we got pumpernickel, we let them know and they brought out more pumpernickel toast. The over easy eggs were cooked all the way through, but that's fine as we didn't have toast to dunk it in. I am disappointed in what this place has become. read more

We are here over the weekend. I was shocked how empty it was for a long weekend at the start of school vacation week. The food was good, I had the breakfast sandwich which was delivered piping hot after being grilled. I had to eat it open faced because it was so hot and I ordered the eggs over easy so it was drippy. The cheddar cheese had good flavor, not bland. The home fries appeared to be baked rather than fried because they were so evenly cooked but that was okay they were good. I was not happy with my experience at Route 28 diner. We were initially told the wait would be 45min-1hr, then left our number and took a drive. 5 mins later we were called. That was great! However when we sat down to eat, three things bothered me: 1. Food took 40 minutes 2. My order (eggs over easy) was over cooked and a burnt piece of bacon was tossed on top of 3 other normal pieces. 3. The waitress never came back to ask if we wanted drink refills despite us waiting there for 40 mins for our food and being there over an hour total. Then as soon as we were down she gave us our check like she was waiting for us to finish. Will not go back. There are other places in the area that care more about their patrons with better food preparation and service. read more

We used to occasionally go to this restaurant to get delicious lemon poppyseed pancakes and the taco omelette. We went in today and to our disappointment the ownership has changed hands, and so has the menu, now there is nothing unique about it anymore. Our food arrived, the chocolate chip pancakes looked and tasted good according to my son. My husband said that his meat lovers omelette was good. I got eggs, sausage and home fries. The home fries were burnt, yet they served them that way to both of us. Our waitress never came back to see how we were doing or if we needed drink refills. I could let this slide if it were busy, but the 3 waitresses were too busy sitting in a booth chatting amongst themselves to be bothered with us. There was one other table occupied, so no there's no excuse for neglecting customers! After we were done I saw our waitress look back at us and I thought she was going to get up and bring us our check. Nope. After she did it a second time and just turned back around I had to ask for our check. Needless to say I won't be returning. We were very upset to see that this local classic diner has changed hands This place was a little gem and it had very nice food - it was very inexpensive and lots of local people would go there including us apparently in March 2022 they sold it to people that although very pleasant made the menu very expensive and changed 99% of the menu. They had no specials of the day and The food was of very poor quality The old menu used to have delightful yogurt parfaits $4.98 also individually cooked oatmeal served with lots of fresh fruit and real maple syrup for $5.89 They used to have a fabulous taco omelette which was delicious everything on the old menu was under $10 Fabulous pancakes waffles whipped cream it was an amazing place I was shocked to see this current children's menu did not offer pancakes which was really ridiculous because what child does not like pancakes? My husband and I would go in there and eat almost every other weekend for about $23 Now they have on their menu steak and eggs for $23 and I dread to think what they taste like because the $11 eggs sausages patties and "home fries" were not worth finishing Very weak coffee I really hope they change their menu and their prices I noticed this on the memorial day weekend and the place wasn't full and usually there's a lineup of people waiting to get in the door and nowhere to park. The menu didn't have many of the items shown on photos and was really limited. I didn't get what I really wanted when deciding to go there. The people working (I'm going to assume they were the Owners) were nice and pleasant but the whole experience felt like they weren't used to running a diner. The prices are tripled if not quadruple (totally understand the food cost increase) They charged me $17 dollars for a kids French toast and a side of bacon. So. I own a cottage about a mile away from here. I do AirBNB and stay there alot myself. I go here every time I am on the cape more than once a week if I am beaching it. I also highly recommend our renters go early in the stay, they are probably going to go back several times if they do. Please be aware that this is cash only! But there is an ATM near by. This is a super retro car culture diner. It is small, you might drive by it and miss it but you need to do a U turn and come back. It is worth it. This gem is frequented by locals but has caught on to travelers in the know. If you are getting up early to get a good beach spot or travel to all the Cape Areas stop here. Perfectly made mainstream american diner breakfast food that you wished you mom/dad/yourself could make ;) But they have a creative side beyond mom/dad make me breakfast, I only want this basics. Take a step on the chefs side or the kids side or somewhere in the middle. Oh and did I mention they don't overcharge like most Cape establishments? Awesome little diner. The place gives off such a cool old school vibe, and more importantly the food is really good for a low price. It's also really nice that they offer all the traditional breakfast staples that are expected of a diner, along with many unique and unconventional dishes from their menu of specials. I had the sweet potato pancakes and thanksgiving benny. I really liked the sweet potato pancakes since they weren't too sweet and had a nice cinnamon flavor. I was also able to ask for honey to eat with them. And the thanksgiving benny was great. It was an eggs benedict, but with turkey and stuffing. I like how they put a bunch of turkey meat on the english muffin, and the stuffing went really well with the eggs and hollandaise.
