The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that their banana foster waffle was a little dry (still yummy though) and they utilize plastic bags to hold their silverware. We've always had really great service at Pancakery. However, I'm not a fan of their pancakes. Or anything else I've had. However, with the other 2 breakfast places, being crazy busy (and one being extremely overpriced), this is where we land for our one breakfast out. I have to say though...I'm in a minority (in our vacationing group) with my opinion. My kids are wild about their pancakes. I just can't say that I've had anything there that has wow'd me over. We really wanted to love this place. Honestly it probably would have been a 4 if we weren't super hungry and weren't bypassed in seating. Let's start... Upon arrival we were already dreading it because the place was slammed. It's not really big so there's not a lot of seating. You can see by the reviews it's a pretty hot little place. Be prepared to wait, if you want. We were told it was going to be about 45 minutes. They text me confirmation and said they'd text me when the table was ready. I didn't get a text. I checked back after about an hour and noticed all the people that were waiting while we checked in were gone or seated and it was a new crowd waiting. I asked the hostess and for some reason our name had disappeared. I had the text confirming check in. There was a family of 7 waiting and I asked them how long they had been waiting and they said 20 minutes. The bus boy was cleaning a table. I asked the hostess if we could have that table and she said no, it was for this same party of 7. Well we ended up having to wait about another 20 minutes to be seated. So roughly 80 minutes to dine. In the end, the server was friendly. She tried... The kids liked their over priced food. We were starving. We ate, we laughed. We made the best of a bad situation and left. Would we go back? Not a huge fan. Ordered a kids pancake- fruit on side. Pancake came w tons of blueberries and strawberries in it. We were charged $2 for each berry in the pancake. ? Total of a $10 pancake we couldn't even eat. Server didn't seem to care when we pointed this out. I had an egg white veggie omelette. I substituted avocado over shrooms. There was an upcharge of course but the avocados were pre packaged and much like tasteless plastic. Didn't eat that either. Just disappointed. 2 adults. 2 kids. 2 mimosas. $80. Overall the food was really good, my husband and daughter really enjoyed their meals. Hubby got the build your own omelette and bragged the entire time. I got the breakfast sampler it was just okay (Ihop vibes). I actually left wishing I got the crab omelette. Drinks were great but this place gets crowded very fast. We arrived at 7:50am and were able to grab a table fairly fast, shortly after the rush came. Overall I would recommend. read more

They do not take call ahead reservations. We tried going yesterday morning and it was a 45 min wait. Went today around noon and had no trouble getting a spot. Every time we vacation in Destin everyone looks forward to eating at the Pancakery. It's our favorite breakfast spot! They are always busy but usually get you seated in a reasonable amount of time. The mimosa's are awesome and the food is great. My only complaint was the service of our waitress. I understand the place is busy but she was moving so fast she didn't complete one order before moving on to the next persons order at the table. We would have to have her come back to complete the order. Other than that, everything was great! read more

Made my own omelette (check picture) and it was excellent. I had egg whites with mushrooms, spinach, feta and grilled shrimp! They filled the omelette with those items as well as top it with them! The mushrooms and spinach were sautéed in garlic I think, amazing touch to this dish! I had a side of blueberry whole wheat mini pancakes which were great as well!! Mona, the server was great, efficient and sweet. They have military discount so please ask for it if you're military. One down side is they didn't have any natural juices or a variety of teas, but that's alright, the food was great!!! We sat outside because it was nice and the wait indoors was too long, inside though, the decor is very nice and unusual for your typical establishments here. Good job! read more

They actually seated us in 25 minutes which made us very happy. We had already looked at a menu (which I strongly advise) and our food was out to us in less than 10 minutes. The food was not bad, but it wasn't great. We both had the traditional breakfast. If you like "underdone hash browns" and dense pancakes, you might enjoy it! Most every town of size has a place where tourists and the locals stand in line for an hour to eat breakfast. I'm from Nashville, where that place has been Pancake Pantry. The Pancakery is Destin's equivalent. The omelettes are outstanding (my favorite was the atomic bomblette), the grits, bacon, eggs are all very well-executed in the manner that you would expect from a destination dining sort of establishment. Their hot sausage was wonderful, but not so hot that it should come with a warning. The pancakes were not anything special, but were better than the fare of an IHop. The service was very good, and while we waited 50 minutes for a table, our food was out within 7-8 minutes after we'd ordered. read more

Out of all the places we tried in Destin, this was by far the worst when it came to customer service. We had a large group and expected to wait but the hostess did nothing to accommodate us, several parties that arrived after us got seated before us. When we asked they stated it would be an additional 30 minutes, we had to ask again and asked to be seated in separate tables since we were the last group. The waitress was not apologetic about our hour and half wait, we would have waited more if we had not requested to be seated separate, even though they have a sign that states that parties over 8 could possibly be seated separate. And to top it all off when we finally got to order and got our food, one of our plates had a hair and our order was not as we placed it.
