The Park View has a great location in Inwood close to lots of cool stuff. Prices are high. You expect it but it's still too much even though it's pretty good for the most part. After checking out Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters for a few hours we were crazy hungry. In a nice location just across the street is this cafe serving upscale diner type food such as burgers and salads. The menu for the most part is meaty, but there's stuff for vegetarians. Also cocktails. They have some fine ones. I had a Sidecar, a classic. It's $12 for a fairly small pour. This is made with cognac, lemon, and Triple Sec. Certainly this was very good. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for the high price. Speaking of high prices, there's the food. We each had the Black Bean Vegan Burger because it was the cheapest vegan thing to eat here. It's $14.50 for a pretty good sized burger. This comes with lettuce and tomatoes. It's on a pita. This comes with the choice of fries or salad. It was pretty good if kind of crumbly. Minor consideration: Got our drinks 10 minutes after we got our appetizers. The drinks were good. Major consideration: I strongly advise against eating anything here which is crazy since it's a restaurant. The coconut shrimp was fried beyond recognition and so hard it hurt. The buffalo cauliflower was so mushy that one press of the fork and it was more like watery mashed potatoes. Even the greens it was served with were wilted. I'm embarrassed to say we ate it but we were hungry, but I paid for that decision for the next few hours. I suspect that they respectively came out of a frozen box and bag. Can you tell this is my favorite brunch spot? Lol. The experience I feel while eating here can be summed up to one word, tranquil. Im not sure if its the jazz playing in the background but its a good addition to what the space has going on. Since the only option is to pay with cash, it left me some room to be more conscious of my experience. Bringing a book along or my laptop to get some work done, tied everything in with a sense of productivity with ease. Now the food. I was a huge steak and egg gal and use to love it. Now my diet has changed but I would still recommend it to anyone. The Go Green Omelet is my go-to. Very filling on its own without touching the home fries. But then why wouldn't you touch them?? They rock my socks (if i have any on that day). A potato in any form is my best friend. The grilled cheese are not that basic and neat. Pls pls pls try the tomato soup. After walking past 6 different restaurants in Inwood, as none of them seemed appealing, we took a chance on The Park View and were not disappointed! Heads up this place is cash only! The inside of the restaurant is dimly lit and had decent air conditioning, which was great considering yesterday was one of the hottest days of the month. We arrived as a group of four. Two members of our group ordered a glass of Rose, another just a Diet Coke, and I had a bottle of hard ginger beer. I've only had regular ginger beer before, but I really liked the alcoholic ginger beer, the alcohol didn't take away from the spice of the ginger, and was very refreshing. I had a sip of one of my friends glasses of rose and it was very delicious. I am unsure as to which brand of rose they serve, but as someone who doesn't normally like Rose wine, I found this one to be delightful. We ordered chips and guacamole to share for the table. Their guacamole is very chunky, with chunks of tomato in it as well. For my entree, I had the grilled chicken sandwich that came with a side of fries. It might have been the best chicken I ever had. The sandwich was grilled chicken with sun-dried tomatoes, sliced mozzarella, pesto mayo, on an olive bread. The flavors complemented each other beautifully and everything tasted very fresh. My friends who each ordered something different had said that their meals were good too! I also appreciate that when I asked for a different dipping sauce other than ketchup, our waiter gladly brought me a small dish of ranch. The ranch was very good, it must of been homemade, because it did not taste like a grocery store brand and wasn't thick and chunky like other ranch dressings I've had before. This was my first time at Park View. It was a Friday at 10:15am. I ordered the French Toast with a side of pork sausage. It took 30 minutes from when I stepped through the door to when I received my meal. It's quite understandable since there was one waitress working eight tables. I enjoyed my meal while listening to Prince and Redbone. There was a powered down television on the wall. My French toast was not as fluffy as I have experienced in most other places, which is their style as I understand, plus the texture was tough and lacked much of any taste. To say "the least" is an understatement. I was hype about getting some takeout from here since there are nothing but rave reviews on Google and Yelp. Many items on the menu stood out to me and literally had my mouth watering. I went with the skirt steak and mashed potatoes, and the chicken parm with fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce. The steak I was served would literally have me suspend you if I was the owner and you were my "chef". When I called to place the actual order, and I asked for the grilled skirt steak, they did NOT even ask me how I would like the steak done. Red flag! He just asked what else I wanted. I had to tell him I wanted it well done. PLEASE see the picture for yourself of the raw bloody steak on a watery bed of bland mashed potatoes! What goes through someone's head when serving something like that? Did you just grill it for 30 seconds and say "Yup, that will do!" And just plop it right on the mash potatoes? The chicken parm was better; the portion was huge but it lacked tomato sauce and flavor-- like it literally had no flavor, not even a pinch of salt. When I called about my order, they were willing to replace my steak meal, but I was already in the Bronx. They, then, offered me a $25 credit for the steak meal. *** I tried to redeem the $25 credit today and the guy on the phone was very unprofessional and rude; he told me that he would call the manager and call me back-- that was over two and a half hours ago and no call. read more

This is an update review. I came here today for breakfast I think this place is underrated I been here about 4 times now. Luckily for me every time I have been here I have received great service. Sometimes for lunch it can get busy so the food takes a little longer to come out. Today it was very fast service. We started of right with some Bellinis they were delish! Came here on Sunday around 10am with a friend. When we arrived, it was not busy. We placed our order 5-10min after our arrival. Everything was going as expected, we began to catch up listening to the sound of the coffee being made and watching people walking in. After a while without coffee, we told a waitress about it. She went to the back to check what was the hold up and came back to tell us there was an error with our drink order. She didn't give an update on our food. We decided to wait a little longer but after 5min we decided to leave(after almost an hour just sitting and waiting) and head to a local diner where we were promptly seated and fed within 15min. read more

We've come here multiple times for brunch. We live in the neighborhood and have recommended this restaurant to others many times. Today was an awful experience that may lead us to never come back. The waiter was rude and unaccommodating. I order a turkey burger and was asked "how would you like it cooked?" The turkey burger was a brick. I returned it to the kitchen. We received zero apology. I ordered another item that took at least 20 mins to arrive. Again no apology. Never asked if we needed anything else. I asked multiple times for a bowl or cup of water for our dog. It never came, so I gave her my glass of water to drink from and was yelled at by said waiter for "glass on the ground." We are trying to support all neighborhood restaurants during this time to help them stay afloat, but I will never come back to this place after today. read more

From my September visit, here's my experience in only so much detail . The short version : Inexperienced staff , superbly subpar food, both for the price and considering quality of ingredients (during the meal). We walk in on a Sunday brunch, party of 3. We waited a few minutes for a table. Looking around, there seemed to be 2 servers who were either clueless about hospitality or actually just new to working in a busy restaurant, and another older server who seems to be in charge. At the very least, this isn't her first day. . We start with drinks. When I asked the woman (one of the younger ones) what type of coffee beans they used, she seemed to not know that coffee comes in bean form at some point, which also leads me to the conclusion that their coffee isn't freshly ground and the waitress is, well, frankly inexperienced. In the end, she showed me a picture on her phone of the coffee bag. We managed to order pretty quick. Our order was sizable, as we were 3. We waited maybe about 30 minutes before our first appetizer arrived. During this time I saw a 2 dudes waiting to be sat, waiting almost 10 minutes for menus, ordering, and then receiving their food FIRST. This was before we had even given our appetizers. (I work in the industry, so will admit us waiting could simply be a printer error, I don't know what their setup is back there. ) We then received our apps, and the rest of the food followed very shortly after. The cheese in the grilled cheese was good, but I can't accept the fact that they are charging what they charge for a grilled cheese only to serve it on white bread. That is truly a culinary offense. The tomato soup tasted quite pre-made, as if it were canned. Still, it was edible. The pancakes were another disappointment. Well cooked but bland, needing to be carried by the extremely sweet syrup they leave at the table, which, quite frankly, may have just been Aunt Jemima's. Again, for the prices they charge, this is offensive. We got an omelette to share, and it tasted like low quality yolks you get from the deli or McDonalds. I personally, could only finish the grilled cheese and he coffee [which was actually really delicious]. This was my time at The Park View. I would not eat here again, as the coffee was the only thing that was worth the time, and I advise you to consider other places to spend your money. read more

A calming haven in the heart of a hectic city. Park street view is more than meets the eye with its warming environment and diverse menu. *Note that you can only pay with cash here. I ordered the BBQ pork sliders and they were over-sauced. The sauce on it was too sweet and tangy. I would not get them again. Good concept but poor execution. Another issue I had with this place is the service. The servers seemed to be looming over my shoulders and the bar tender was not friendly. Everyone seemed to be obsolete to my need for service. And the bar tender seemed to be too occupied on his phone. If you're in the neighborhood this place is definitely worth a shot. I added fresh strawberries and bananas to my French toast because why not? I never finish my food but today I did. The French toast is nice and fluffy not too sweet, not dry at all. The food comes out pretty quick too. My friend built her own omelette. By the time we were finished we couldn't move. Would definitely come back for breakfast. Wasn't pricy either. I was a fan of park view a million years ago before they remodeled. Then, I was a fan post-remodel in the new hipster trendy vibes. However, a COVID fan? Dunno. Here's why: Ordered delivery. They waited for the delivery guy to show up (30 min after order), then had HIM call me and tell me they didn't have one of my items and ask if I wanted to change it. I changed it and asked how long..."5 minutes." 20 minutes later delivery guy is still waiting. I call Park View...they say, "he just left." I call the delivery guy "I am literally still standing in the restaurant." (I will translate here: Park View phone guy lied). 20 minutes later, he finally gets my updated food and is on his way. 80 min after my order, my food arrives... The issues don't stop there. I originally ordered a waffle with strawberries...they were out (not sure how that happens, as they could still make pancakes, but I digress). I changed to pancakes and strawberries. They sent pancakes and fried chicken. I am vegetarian. No strawberries were to be found. The food was really tasty, but it doesn't excuse the above. Overall, between the lying about my order, sending chicken to a vegetarian, and the extreme delay (it was 10 minutes past the latest possible delivery), this gets one star. There were so many things that could have mitigated this situation; and, so that this can be a learning experience, here are two: 1.) If you are out of waffles...call me when you get my order so I can tell you what I want to replace it with. Don't wait 30 minutes to do so. Operations nightmare here. 2.) Don't lie when I call and ask where my food is after an hour. Just say, "So sorry, we're busy and we had to replace an item in your order. We will get it out as soon as we can! Thanks for your business, oh and Happy Valentines Day" (and maybe: "oh, by the way, are you vegetarian? we were going to throw some fried chicken under your pancakes as a mea culpa. You are?! Glad we asked, that would have been embarrassing.") Tasty food though. read more

I can finally give a review I feel will be fair. I've been here a couple times and always enjoyed the different aesthetic compared to all the other restaurants and bars on the strip. Rustic with art on their walls, wood tables and a great playlist. Waiters are always very kind and don't hover over you or your food. The first two times here I ordered the Veggie Burger. Both times I regretted it deeply. It was probably the worst veggie burger I've had. All I can say is that I learned my lesson and changed it up the next time I visited. By all means, if you're into it go ahead and try the veggie burger but I'm sure there are other more appetizing options if you seek a plant-based meal. This place is so nice I've willingly given 2nd chances and even 3rds. This time around I ordered a Grilled Cheese which comes with a very delicious Tomato Soup and a small Salad. Order this! The tomato soup was very well made, not too acidic or overbearing. Smooth. The grilled cheese was good (oily but what can u expect). They def serve you cheese if you ask for cheese. A very chill/laid back vibe during a weekend day. Note- this place is cash only. I ordered a Kobe burger with fries and enjoyed the meal. The burger was very soft and juicy, very lightly seasoned (I added salt to the burger and fries). It was definitely a huge portion. The server who greeted us gave us the option to sit anywhere we wanted. Being that it was a cold day, we opted to sit in the back and to our dismay and disgust, the area SMELLED LIKE POO. Granted, there was a bathroom nearby, but the fact that the smell permeated into the dining area and into our nostrils was literally not okay. When we moved seats, and told the server that the area smelled like the bathroom, he said, "I know." So like, if you know, why do you have a table there and let people sit there. The Park View has excellent coffee. I have stopped in twice recently for coffee - once to stay, and once to go. When I stayed, I got a latte with almond milk. The presentation was beautiful (all about that latte art ;]), and the brew was smooth and nicely caffeinated. I paired it with the chocolate croissant and that made my morning! When I stopped in just for a quick cup to enjoy during my train ride to work, I got a regular brew with almond milk. Again, amazing! I don't know what their roast is, but I enjoy it a lot - and I'm picky. I have not eaten at the Park View in some time, but I do remember that service can be somewhat inconsistent. It's never been terrible enough to stop me from coming, though. I love the view of Fort Tryon Park from this restaurant, and the ambiance is lovely! I like this place. They have great coffee, and I usually grab a couple to go while my partner and I walk our dog. However, the difference in service between us sitting down for a full meal and grabbing a to go coffee is staggering. For the full meal, they're very attentive and prompt, but for just coffee, they drag their feet. I'm writing this review because I was left waiting in the outside seating area for almost half an hour in the rain this morning for just a coffee, with no updates or explanations. Not even when the server saw me leaving did I get any sort of communication as to where my coffee was or why I had to wait so long. I left when the rain started getting heavy, and went next door to Starbucks. I would have appreciated at least an update or explanation of some sort. Communication is key. read more

Wow. What a transformation! This place has been gutted from the inside out and turned into a classy, romantic and upscale spot. What an excellent addition to the ever-changing Inwood (Northernmost part of Manhattan). The neighborhood is slowly becoming a hidden gem that I recommend everyone visit at least once, especially on a quiet weeknight to avoid the weekend crowds. This place is situated adjacent to a brand new Starbucks (add a cool point). They serve creative cocktails (all wine based!), teas, coffee, wine and best of all an excellent food selection. I ordered a sangria which was very good. The Chicken Sandwich was delicious with the hint of pesto and mozzarella. The bread contains black olives which I don't think I've had before but was a perfect touch. You have a choice of fries or greens. The music was not very loud and complimented the romantic mood. Literally felt like I was in the West Village. They offer happy hour and brunch. On Thu-Sun they have a second happy hour from 9pm-midnight. I will be revisiting this place soon. On first entering the place is very clean and inviting, the music is good and mellow for a Thursday afternoon. Over all: The Food - Good! I had the Brie, cheddar and apple grilled cheese with Tomato Basil soup. Great flavor to the sandwich. My boyfriend got the Crooque Monsieur. It was a little for my taste but he loved it. The Coffee- I loved my cappuccinos, he didn't love his Mocha. Almond Croissant- delicious!!! The service- the bus boy was awesome and fast. The waiter seemed as if he didn't want to be there. Okay, I thought I wouldn't come here again, but decided to give this place another try. I visited for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the service and food. I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who waited our table, because he was a delight (5/17/19 around 2pm). We were seated almost instantly and our food was excellent. I had the turkey burger and holy moly! It was SO GOOD. The caramelized onions were phenomenal and the brioche was perfect. The patty was charred to perfection and the fries were amazing.
