We used to have a Pasta House in Cape Girardeau but it closed down. Now there doesn't seem to be an affordable Italian restaurant with good food in the city. On Eclipse day we parked here and sat outside to use a patio table to have late lunch and watch the event. It was clear when we arrived that the restaurant had not expected eclipse audience dining but the staff immediately seated us outside! We ordered drinks first and our waiter hustled to get them out to us. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad as did my dear friend. Our guests ordered a pasta House salad and a pizza. The food was excellent and the service was just as good. We enjoyed our time on the patio with 3 other couples. I enjoyed this impromptu meal as well as any lunch I had prearranged. The chicken parm is just a cheap thin looking slice of chicken that tastes like it has been microwaved. The red sauce is bland and tastes like sugar? They don't season their broccoli and it is always flavorless and VERY wet (like dripping wet). I'm not usually this harsh with reviews, but don't order to-go from here. All in all, very bland food. Great place to eat in or carry out! I generally get carry outs. Large selection of many different types of pastas and entrees. Almost everyone should be able to find their favorite style of pasta here! Lasagna, white sauce, red sauce, vegetarian, etc etc etc! I generally get the rigatoni roma, which comes with meat sauce, fresh mushrooms, peas and prosciutto topped with a cream sauce. Pasta con broccoli and pizza are also tasty! I think their salads pair well with the pasta, but it is disappointing that salads don't come with pasta dishes. That is probably my only complaint. This is a smaller location that is generally very crowded at peak times. There is a dining and bar area. The pick up counter is right at the front door. It gets a bit overcrowded inside and in the parking lot during peak times, but this is a good problem to have! Excellent customer service, great food, good atmosphere. Pasta House was on top of their game! My company hosted an event in the meeting room at this location. Hailey (hope I spelled it right) was our waitress and she was amazing, we were there from 12-9:30 and Hailey probably waited on over 30 customers throughout the evening. She did a great job! As well as all the other staff that helped. Once again I had the Bacon Burger, no bun, with Gorgonzola and sautéed onions. This is one of the best burgers I've ever had. Pasta House makes a great burger, I know it sounds kinda crazy but it's true. If you visit Pasta House, try the burger! I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Also, I heard the ice cream there is amazing. I could not have any due to dietary restrictions but everyone else that tried it said it was awesome!!! I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

I had issues long before the pandemic struck. The servers are great, the staff for the most part are great. Management needs better stress coping skills I think. Yes, I know full well how hard it is to manage a restaurant, I did it at a fine dining establishment as the Executive Chef. My issues are with there response of management. If you're "in house" they'll try to accommodate you, sure. But, the issues come up when you order take out or delivery. Mine have always been with take out. One big one before pandemic one after. 1. March 2020 we order food to go, follow all instructions for pickup and we're told after waiting 25 minutes past our it's done pickup time that they're sorry, they forgot it, they'll get it right out... Sigh, okay... I just spent $50 for two adults but I'll wait. So we get it home, halfway through the meal my husband spits out a chunk of his meatball and says what is that crap?!? It's a big chunk of plastic bag, which I have pics of and so I call them and the manger (male) sputters and acts understanding and asks me to email him. Mind you, I'm not enraged, rude, berating I get it accidents happen. I'm just grateful my husband didn't choke on a three inch piece of plastic bag. So he promises us a refund, follow up yada yada... Guess what we didn't get? That's right, a refund or follow up. 2. Late April 2020 during pandemic, we ordered on the phone, very sweet girl took the $90 + order, I paid and tipped over the phone she repeated to the order details back to me twice and said give us half an hour then pull up outside, we'll come out and get your info and bring your food. So hubby pulls up around 5 middle of the week, no one else is there for a pickup, he sits, and sits, and sits in the spots they told him to pull up in with the signage. Then an older male pulls up (obviously an employee) walks right by him and still, no one comes out calling wasn't working, they weren't answering. So, he finally sees a young girl, waves and she comes out, they bring out the food which by this time is not warm, but whatever. So he gets it the 5 miles to our house and guess what? It's missing a $20 entree, the salad is wilted all to heaven and looks more like soup versus salad since it's swimming in dressing, my sandwich is soggy, as in like you dipped it in water soggy. Not worth that money is it? Okay so I call and the nice girl listens to about 5 seconds of my call, interrupted me and said hang on. 11 minutes later the male manger gets back on, I tell him they forgot my entree, he's talking to someone else while "listening" to me. I ask him if we can get the rest of our food delivered, he said for one entree? I said no, if you'd been praying attention you'd have heard that now than half the food I ordered was either missing or inedible. He then says, well no I'm just going to refund you since I've got 100 meals going to the hospital later tonight... Guess who never got refunded... AGAIN! IT'S BEEN OVER A WEEK! Okay, I get it, you want to take care of our medical heroes, but aren't we important to your business too? You've treated me poorly in the past, you've nearly caused my husband to injest plastic and now you're going to not pay attention to me when I call you with a concern on a non busy day at a non busy time with a genuine concern that is exactly what your job description literally says you're to address and rectify? This place has great wings!!! The meatballs are amazing and i love the Greek salad! My husband likes the pizza. Everything has been consistently good. I just refuse to go on Thursday nights. I unknowingly sat at a high top in the bar on Thursday just as the karaoke guy was setting up. that was a TERRIBLE idea! The speaker were so close and mind numbing loud. In my opinion the restaurant is to small for that. I will be back just NOT on Thursday nights. read more

We visited Pasta House last night with a very large group. Over 30 of us. Our waiter, Nick, was truly one of the best waiters I have ever had at any restaurant. He was very attentive, got all of our orders correct, and was always letting us know that if we needed anything to let him know and he would get it for us. And with the size of our group, there were plenty of requests lol. He never missed a beat. This guy deserves a promotion for sure. Yum! Festus Mo Pasta house is the best one. The one in arnold and South county sucks, but Festus pasta house cares and throws down. The pasta in so creamy, moist, flavorful and soupy here, not all dry and without sauce like the arnold and south county ones prepare. and they know how to prepare a salad too. I have had bad luck with some pasta houses, but Festus will continue to get our business if they continue the good service they've had for years. Seems the cook really cares. read more

What a difference between Pasta House Festus and Arnold! I am not sure if I would come back to this location. I ordered curbside tonight and when I arrived for pickup 1 waitress had a mask on and one did not. I, of course, got the one who did not and who also came right up to my door to ask my name for the pickup. I then waited another 10 minutes for her to bring the food out, still no mask. I asked if their were rolls in the bag since it looked like there were only the 2 meals. After appearing a bit put out, she stated people ask for rolls if they want them. I did not realize for curbside pickup this was needed. Now for the difference. At Arnold all servers are wearing masks and gloves, they will put your meal in the backseat or trunk (not force it through the driver's window), they include bread and even put the butter in a separate bag so it doesn't melt. Oh, and they also include utensils and napkins; I received none tonight. I have also included a picture of the supposed full size dinner order of tortellini. Arnold at least fills it to the top. You can't blame it on it being busy as there were only 3 other cars at the time picking up. Definitely would not recommend if you are at all worried about Covid 19. read more

We decided to check out the Festus pasta house last night. We have been to the south county location before. I wasn't impressed that time, but my other half liked it. Of course, he was thrilled we were going. His excitement was short lived. When we arrived, we found a packed parking lot, and thought it was odd, considering it was 9:00. When we walked on, we found a large bar area in the front of building. Game 5 of the blues/wild playoff series was on. Now, I enjoy a good, rowdy, sports loving crowd, but not next to my dinner table. I had my 6 year old with me, and the profanity was a bit out of control. As for the meals, I had chicken parm, my husband had lasagna, and chicken fingers with fries for the kiddo. The chicken was fine, nothing to write home about. The chicken fingers were dry and a little burnt. The lasagna though, was awful. The first time it came out, it was cold in the center with microwave burnt cheese covering one side. We sent it back, and the second time it was melt your face off scalding. Barb was our server, and she was very pleasant and attentive through the ordeal. A manager came over, apologized, and comped the lasagna. Unfortunately, the damage had been done and I went home with a crabby, hungry husband. It's a same, we had high hopes. There aren't many quality dining establishments in the area, and now pasta house makes the list of places we won't be returning to. read more
