We've heard about this place for awhile and finally made it for lunch. Pretty typical nice bar/restaurant type of place. Bad news first...the view is not great (across a parking lot to a Dysart's gas station) but there are plenty of good ones close by; food came out a little slow (but still hot). The good news...server was great! And the food is worth the trip...excellent fried clams lightly breaded although not that many in the starter plate; excellent cheese steak sandwich; really, really good fish stew--very hardy, thinner stock (as it should be), great flavor; great fried haddock sandwich, again with light breading. Overall, super food, nice room. Oh yeah, you need to try the pickled wrinkles just so you can say you did (like haggis in Scotland) very chewy, not a lot of flavor once you get past the brine. I rarely give 5 star review but this place is very good I had the steak and cheese sandwich with home made chips it was very good.

We were recommended to try this place after a day at Schoodic Peninsula. The seafood stew had really fresh ingredients. More fish than other seafood though. The fish in the fish and chips was fried just right and so moist inside. And a thin batter, which allowed the fish meat to really "shine." Fries was a bit greasy and soggy. Biked to the pickled wrinkle and was so happy we landed here when we did. It had just started to rain thunder and lightning and we arrived at the pickled wrinkle!! We took refuge at an outdoor table and ordered fried seaweed (YUM), tots and beer and blueberry cider. Highly recommend !!! Gotta visit the pickled wrinkle ! And they have T-shirts :) read more

We went here on the way back from driving around the Schoodic Peninsula. They had good vegetarian/vegan options. We got the spicy veg burger on their specials menu and the garden vegetable pizza without cheese. We also got the fried pickles. They were all delicious, especially the spicy veg burger. read more

This place is a real find, and I regret we had time for only one meal here during our visit to Maine. The food was excellent. We both had the fish and chips. The fish was very fresh haddock not overpowered by batter, and there was a lot of it. The fries were good, the onion rings thin and crisp. The seafood chowder was also good--a combination of this and that (some pieces of fish, a scallop) in a good broth. Service was slow at first, perhaps due to the young hostess blabbing with the barista instead of telling our server she had customers in the back of a very full dining room (a mix of tourists and locals). But the server apologized, and the food came out quickly, soup and entree together, for which the server also apologized. The oddity was one of the TV screens. While others at the bar showed the usual selection of sports, one at the side of the dining room had The Food Network on. I assume this shows the owners' interest, and certainly the food displays attention to detail. read more

Possible Food Poisoning. Ate lunch there today. 30-40 minutes later both of our stomachs started to be nauseous. By evening, we were full blown sick. Been vomiting and curled up sick for the last 4 hours. We think it is the oil, it we can't know for sure. It's the only common thing we ate: fried food. Lily's review from 2 months ago seems accurate. Maybe they don't change the oil daily. I saw her review but since so many others were positive, we thought she may be the exception. It is unfortunate that I have to post this horrible experience with the pickled wrinkle after eating at this establishment for the last couple of years. We have always enjoyed the "steak night" and decided to go tonight for dinner. We ordered our drinks and dinner and as 20 minutes passed our meal was delivered. We told the waitress that we did not receive our salads. 5 minutes later, as we started to eat our meal, a waitress brought out our salads. I told the waitress that we would have liked to receive our salads before the meal which was traditionally done, that we didn't want the salads now and to just comp our bill. The owner, Sarah, came over with our salads and I told her the same, that we wanted our salad before our meal and could you comp them. She told me I was being mean and left the table. I couldn't believe that there was little to no customer service. I wanted to leave at that point but waited another ten minutes until we could get our waitress to get the bill and boxes. As I looked at the bill I communicated to the waitress again that we didn't get our salads and her response was that we did but we refused them. I apologized to the waitress telling her I couldn't leave her a tip because of the service we received and that she should probably talk to the owner. If you are a restaurant owner or in the service industry you really should have great customer service skills and if you don't then these unfortunate situations occur. I was just promoting steak night the other day and will no longer do this or refer anyone to this restaurant. read more

I went to the Pickled Wrinkle tonight for dinner, drinks, and entertainment. I really enjoyed the music (classic rock/jazz mix), the food was great, especially the seafood stew (chowder) and most of all the friendly down-east atmosphere. Everyone from kitchen to the waitresses, and the owners were super friendly ensuring that our experience was top-notch. I highly recommend this place for both tourists and locals. My wife and I had lunch here today and had a great experience. Wait staff was very friendly and intentive. The atmosphere was enjoyable for a small town restaurant. My whole family ate here last night and each of us were very pleased. Lobster Roll, Surf N Turf burger, fish and chips were among the selections and we enjoyed each. We tried the restaurant namesake appetizer and it was unusual but kind of tasty. Decided to stop here since the parking lot was packed on a Wednesday night and the Yelp reviews! This is a local hangout bar and family friendly restaurant. Best lunch in maine trip so far. Our waitress was friendly and informative. The food was cooked perfectly. And the the homemade tartar made my taste buds dance with joy. We both had the delicious haddock sandwiches for dinner. With good sweet potato fries and slaw. Dulse chips are an acquired taste I suspect but worth a shared starter (with beer.). A great experience at this bar & burger joint! Clean, fast service, best lunches we've had so far vacationing in the area. We walked in to a heavenly smell (long morning of hiking made us hungry), our waitress found out it was the cook baking croutons--a good sign that actual cooking goes on here, confirmed by our four consistently tasty lunches. A burger, some chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, and a ton of battered onion rings were well made from real ingredients, were much appreciated, and the iced tea also received praise. Service was great and server had a great personality. The ambience is excellent - shabby chic, comfortable and casual. Back to the Pickled wrinkle.
