The Pie is growing on me and I'm starting to really like their pizza. My first experience with the pie wasn't the greatest. We ordered the biggest pepperoni pizza available and it was nothing but grease on top. I used napkins to soak up the grease and went through about 5 napkins for one slice. Yuck. It's been years since I've been back, but now that I'm part of my job's "lunch bunch," we come here for the Pizza of the Day (daily special) which is a slice of pizza and a salad for $6.00 plus taxes! This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I've been recommended numerous times to come home and it's 20 miles away. I placed a pick up order called back 5 min later to add an item was told that I would not be able to add to my order instead had to place a new order and wait an additional 25-30 min. Both phones calls was told to come pick up I get there 40 minutes later a line out the door. And am told I can not pick up my food alreasy made an ordered habe to wait online FOR MY FOOD TO GET COLD So what was the point of ordering ahead of I can't pick up hot food Not to mention being coughed on. My first impression... this is a happening place! I approached the counter, Staff was very helpful and cheerful. My pie was not ready so I waited for about five minutes. ( I ordered the HOLY SHIITAKE PIE) Staff asked if I need any condiments and gave me more than I need (which is great) .. the pizza was delicious had plenty of roasted garlic clove! I don't even know how many times I've eaten at the Pie, so it's weird I haven't reviewed it yet. I love the Hawaiian Pie-Oh, which isn't on the menu board inside. I was going to build my own, but the cashier said it's cheaper to just do the Hawaiian Pie-Oh, and substitute Canadian bacon instead of ham, so that was helpful! We got a small of that deliciousness. And we also got a small pepperoni. I love The Pie's pepperoni pizza. So. Much. Cheese. My boyfriend didn't like how the pepperoni was underneath the cheese, but I don't mind it. We also got the cheese pull apart. I've been guilty in the past of ONLY ordering a pull apart to go. It is my favorite thing. The edges aren't the best first impression of the pull apart, since it's basically just crust. But those middle pieces. Oh baby. With ranch and marinara? Golden. Sadly, The Pie absolutely WRECKS my system. I felt so, so sick after eating there this past Saturday. Nothing was wrong with the food. There's always just something that doesn't agree with me, so I felt pretty awful the rest of the night. The pie definitely has some of the most filling Pizza out there. What works really well here is that they are very consistent with their Pizza Style. I could always get a pepperoni jalapeño pizza and it will taste the same no matter how long it's been since my last visit. Midvale location is really small and very busy on weekends so that makes it hard to find a place to sit especially with large groups. My last visit was mid January and I could only find a table outside for a group of five. It wasn't that bad because they have outdoor heating that works very well. The pizza does take an average of 15 to 30 minutes order to table depending on how busy it is, what really stood out to me at this location was the service and attitude of the staff. Seriously, the pizza here has always been awesome. I've been coming here for years and have never been let down. They did used to have the most amazing ranch but it seems to have been changed to something more salty. I've never had an issue with food quality, the pizza's consistanly been excellent and on time. Some of the staff have been a little weird, one of them laughed when he saw the tip I had put for the lacking service he'd given to me, but in general it's been good. Sooo me and my adorable pizza loving son age 12 drove around the mountain to this joint. Glad we did. Had an epic HAWIAN HAM & pineapple delicious pizza. Affordable and fun friendly staff - we loved it... Only weirdishly annoying thing is they had pre-packaged small plastic tubs with one spoon of Parmesan in each tub ! Yes. I guess I want to give this 5 but now I can't because - really? I mean why? HIDEOUS waste & plastic use and very frustrating for a customer ! - I asked about this and the staff seemed equally fed up with people complaining about the exact same thing. ‍ Oh one other thing - NO WINE, only beer on draft - which as it turned out was a distinctly UTAH thing, after a couple of days I didn't miss my odd wine tipple as the spectacular mountains, once in a lifetime hikes all blew me away - who needs wine in UTAH ? The veggie pizza is my favorite pizza, I love the Zappis and the subs, but the cheese pull a part is my #1 with the ranch and marinara. Yummmmmm They also seriously have the best salad dressing and it's all made in house. Obviously the Ranch is magical but the Ceasar dressing is my favorite Ceasar ever and I'm obsessed with Ceasar salads so that has to count for something. I don't particularly like pizza, so maybe take my rating with a grain of salt, but The Pie Pizzeria is decent. Of the other pizza options in my area it's one of the better ones, but I don't feel like my options are THAT great so I don't know if that's a huge recommendation. Their specialty pizzas are pretty creative, and they also offer strombolis, breadsticks, salads...I think they have pasta and sandwiches, too, but I haven't tried those. I have had their Deluxe Chef Salad which is pretty average, but not in a bad way. Just exactly what you would expect. It is huge, too. I feel like the prices are higher than most other pizza places here (at least as far as chains go, although I don't know if I'd quite consider this a chain), but they are very generous with toppings. In fact, the toppings are at least equal in thickness to the crust, and sometimes even more. Speaking of crust they do have a couple of options. Their regular crust is pretty average, medium thickness. Chewy, but not overly so. They also have a thin crust and a sprouted grain crust. At one point they offered a super spicy (Diablo, maybe?) crust, but I can't remember seeing that last night so not sure if they still have it. They also have several options of pizza sizes, and one that is truly humungous. Service is usually good. They seem to be fairly busy any time around dinner, but they are generally pretty fast. We always pick up, and you're usually in and out in just a few minutes. One time they gave our pizza to someone else so we had to wait to have another made. Probably took about 15 minutes. These sorts of things happen, so it wasn't a particularly big deal, and I wouldn't really hold it against them since it was only once, but it was frustrating at the time. Here's the deal, on weekdays around lunch hour they have pizza by the slice and it's delicious. I'm a Pepperoni pizza kind of guy, which they have each weekday during their lunch special. They usually offer one other slice and sometimes I'll do it, if it is the Extreme Veggie. Most times I just roll with the Pepperoni Pizza. I typically order two slices, a drink and a 4-ounce cup of Ranch and leave a $1 tip and the total is just under $10. They have free cups of parmesan cheese and red peppers where you pick up your slice(s). I give this 5-stars because it is so consistently done right. I have had a slice that isn't perfect because but I usually go here a few times a month and almost every time it is PERFECT. If you are visiting from out of town and aren't sure what to expect with The Pie, as far as I know this is the cheesiest pizza you can find in Utah. MUST eat it hot! read more

S.S. put it perfectly, to paraphrase: it's excellent pizza if you've never left SLC. As a Northeasterner I'd say it's ok. The Stromboli pizza was just too heavy in all aspects including the ingredients, the cheese, and the crust. The mushroom pizza, which was the one our friend recommended, was better. It came with a thin crust with pesto, garlic, and mushrooms. The two pizzas and salad were way more than our group of five could eat so we took home a good amount of leftovers. The Caesar salad was plainer than most with a pre-made bottle tasting dressing. I would not recommend it. Ambiance is fun here other than that they constantly yell out the name of the person who's pie is ready over a microphone and price seems on par with other pizzerias. read more

Love the food and thought delivery during COVID-19 was our best bet to continue to enjoy it. Was disappointed when the unmasked person who delivered insisted on handing me the food and signing a receipt, when the website promised contactless delivery. Ordered take out. Two 14 inch pizzas. The strawberry balsamic and Hawaiian pie O. The Strawberry balsamic was absolutely delicious. Polished off easily. The Hawaiian was good but not as delicious. 2 large specialty pizzas for 36 bucks was reasonable. Loved The Pie by the University of Utah campus was my absolutely favorite. Great memories of my time on campus. Support a Utah original. I live out of state now but when I am back, we gotta stop and grab a pie. read more

She told us to call it in and we told her we had been trying for 30 minutes with many hang ups on us. The food is good, but the customer service was not. I ordered at 4:39pm yesterday, and didn't receive my order until 6:03pm. Online, I was quoted a 45 minute delivery time. The first time I called the store it had been 45 minutes and I was told my order was out for delivery. 30 minutes later I call again to get steamrolled by Corey on the phone. He tells me I was quoted a 45 minute to 1 hour delivery time - which was wrong - then proceeds to explain why they we late (shift change, lost a driver). The customer does not care about that. Instead of apologizing and just letting me know when the pizza would be there, that is what I was told after requesting the driver be reached out to for an ETA. What a Disappointing, and annoying/frustrating first-time experience. I am considering ordering from The Pie again, but I will be picking up the pizza - hopefully there isn't a long wait time inside like other reviews describe, and the service is better and the pizza is HOT. Honestly I'm hoping to be reached out to for a refund or free reorder, because this first experience was atrocious. When my order arrived, my cheese pizza, 2 orders of garlic toast, and wings were either lukewarm or cold. I didn't have time to heat anything up in the oven because I had an appointment at 6:30pm, but needed to leave by 6:15pm. When I heated up the pizza after I returned home, there wasn't a cheese pull, and it was really greasy - not good. The flavor was still good though. The texture of the pizza is better cold though, which is sad. The garlic toast and wings were the Star of the show. I got one order of buffalo (really yummy), and 2 orders of garlic toast (one with cheese and one without). It was really tasty. The toast without cheese is better though. The ranch is really good, too. I'm glad my partner and I at least liked something after the long wait time. After all of that, I understand why you guys were late, shit happens, I understand and sympathize because I have been in unsavory situations at work where the customer has been inconvenienced, but you need to own up to it and take accountability when your customers are unhappy, not steamroll them on the phone and then hang up when obviously they are speechless at the service. We stayed with our kids this weekend and they ordered pizza delivery from "The Pie". Oh we are big fans. 1st is that the pizza was hot when it got there. The menu has different, unique combinations. We had the wise guy and cheesy bread. The wise guy has chicken which I don't think belongs on pizza. But it belongs on THIS pizza! It isn't big pieces that you have to bite through, it's nice little cridpy shredded pieces. With that is cheese from heaven. It has basil, tomatoes and a balsamic reduction. There are no words for how good this was. The cheesy bread (sticks?) Is unlike any I've had. Big thing is it comes with warm, in- house, made ranch dressing. When I asked about the beer, he advised there's only what is on tap, and I see bottled beer in their fridge. When my name got called for the 12' pizza, I went to pick up my order, asked for ranch ( as it was not originally offered) and they advised me it's an $1.00. I would've paid with my order, but I'm not paying $1.00 for ranch on my credit card. I'd ask to speak to the manager, but he's the one that messed up. Possibly the worst pizza, next to little Caesar's. The crust is flavorless, the toppings placed haphazardly. We got the pie combo and 80% of the onions were on one piece of the pizza. The toppings are cut really big and hard to eat cause they keep falling off. They didn't cook the pizza all the way and didn't cut it all the way either. I'll be frank, I like this location a lot more better just because it is not as grungy, packed, or small as the original location. And for some reason, the pizza to me just tastes better here! It just does and that makes me choose this location over the other. I'd give it five stars...but since it's not the original it gets four although I like it better. The only thing that I don't like is that it's far away for me...oh well. i eat the pie waaayyy too much. i'm currently trying to adapt an all plant based diet & the fact that they have a vast vegan menu make them the best pizza chain in the state. i would literally die if they opened up shop in lehi. they have lots of locations & i usually don't frequent this location, in fact this was only the second time i've been. we came here to get a takeout order after seeing a movie at the Cinemark this past Sunday. we arrived around 5:30 pm & it wasn't too busy, it started to get busier as we waited. it took about 30 minutes because they had screwed up & added regular cheese to our pizza, which was a little annoying but i'm glad they corrected the mistake. location wise, i prefer the underground location or the takeout/delivery location in sugarhouse the most! pizza itself is always fantastic. i always liked the pie's regular pizzas but the vegan options are next level for us. the vegan cheese pull a parts are one of my favorite things on the planet, they're so much better than the regular cheese ones, non vegans could honestly enjoy them! it was the first time trying the x-treme veggie vegan pie & it was delicious, i don't think i've ever tried something here i didn't like. they also have absolutely delicious ranch, both regular & vegan. price wise- it can get a little expensive but it's honestly not much more than an average chain like dominos or papa johns & the quality is a million times better & we usually have plenty of leftovers! so jealous that i don't live close enough to have them deliver to my house! best pizza in utah by a long shot! read more

Since my college days, which is going back quite a few years, you could always count on a delicious pizza piled high with toppings at The Pie. Thank goodness some things, including The Pie, never change--they still heap on the meats, veggies and cheese to make a hearty, mouth watering masterpiece of a pizza. If you've never been to The Pie (first of all, where have you been for the last 30+ years), just be warned that you won't need a huge pizza to leave completely satisfied. If four pieces of pizza is usually your norm, then The Pie will likely take care of you with two--it is a hefty meal of a pizza (think Chicago deep dish-esque type weight). The Pie is the best pizza in the Salt Lake Valley. If you eat in, you get a cozy, family friendly atmosphere. If you have it delivered, than you can have amazing salads, pizzas, and breadsticks in the comfort of your home. It's a bit pricey, but if you get some pull-a-parts, a couple of large pies, and some salads, you'll have enough food to last the weekend. We usually start with some Pull-A-Parts ... and you can't go wrong with any of them. Get the Chedda if you like the nip of sharp cheese. Get the Pizza if you like the plain ole simple (but tasty) pan-cooked breadsticks. I usually get the Cheese, which has a gooey Mozzarella in its molten core. You can't go wrong with any, as each is slathered in olive oil and is topped with Romano, Parmesan, and Romano cheese. Each also has garlic, but not enough that it'll ruin your date. I also love their salads (I said this stuff would last for days!). I'm a fan of their top-shelf Chef Salad. They pile the veggies and the smoked ham high, and provide two dressings on the side. It would take me forever to go thru their pizza. Just a plain everyday pepperoni pizza is popping with flavor. I usually insist on the Hawaii Pie-O, their take on the Hawaiian pizza: It is topped with Dole-brand pineapple, smoked ham, and mozzarella. The BBQ Chicken Cilantro will satisfy Q freaks with a sweet and tangy bite and the added flavor of smoked chicken, Gouda, cilantro, mozzarella. The Buffalo Chicken pizza is very good ... as is the Greek ... as is the Veggie ... as is the Thai Pie. But to me, it I wanted those things, I'd go to somewhere that had those things OFF a pizza. But I'm old-fashioned ... I want my pizza to taste like ... a pizza. Really, you can't go wrong. The crust is thick, the bread fresh, and the marinara first layer tastes like it was made in some Italian grandma's kitchen with Roma tomatoes plucked from her garden moments that morning. I've been eating at The Pie for a dozen years, and that ain't stopping anytime soon! read more
