Phenomenal pizza, some of my favorite in The Valley. My review reflects the experience of actually picking up the pizza: there are not separate lines for take-out and dine-in, so you will sometimes have to wait more than 30 minutes if it is busy just to pick up your pizza. The last few times I have arrived, my pizza was already lukewarm by the time I was able to get to the counter and pick it up. I made a comment about the long wait for take out and the cashier just looked at me as if I said nothing at all, virtually no empathy. I also had to endure a ridiculously loud and obnoxious live singer that they had situated just outside the doors subjecting everyone to terrible Beatles cover songs. It was so loud that I stood there for over thirty minutes with my fingers in my ears. The fact that they don't have a separate line for take-out orders is absurd. read more

Ugggh literally just pulled pubic hair out of the cheese bread we ordered tonight. It was embedded into the cheese. I called the store to just inform them because they should probably do something about their cook... but all she wanted was to offer me money. No I dont want a credit because I will never be returning to your restaurant after this.. :( and no I don't want the cheese bread refunded. I want your cook to be dealt with. If you leave here full, it's your own fault. They are serving up some delicious, filling pizzas here. While the whole pies are great, I usually hit up this location for their lunch special. From 11-2 during the week, you can get a slice of pepperoni, cheese, fresh tomato, or their slice of the day for $3 or less. If you only get one slice, you will leave full...I'm not kidding. The piece takes up the entire plate and then some. The service at lunch is always good. The line moves fast and today was probably the longest I've ever waited at lunch...like 15 minutes tops, so even if you're in a hurry, you can get your pizza pretty quick. Today, the slice of the day happened to be Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger. A nice barbecue sauce covered in cheese, whole bacon slices, and ground beef all over the top. While it's not my favorite slice of the day, the flavors were all very well balanced, which doesn't always happen with barbecue sauce on pizza. You can't beat the quality ingredients. Plus, if you're just dying of hunger but don't want to break the bank, you can get a couple slices for about 6 bucks and you'll need to leave the place in a wheel barrow as you go in and out of a food coma. My go-to pizza shop. I've tried many others and keep coming back to The Pie. Every pizza I've had was excellent.

The pizza is good, if you can get it. Tried ordering online and it was down. Ordered delivery by phone, gave credit card info. Waited over 2 hours, then called back to check. They couldn't find the order, read back some random order that was wrong, then said the delivery guy took it to a house whose owner said they canceled the order, so he brought it back??? They'll hopefully cancel it from the credit card or we'll have to, because it already shows having been billed on our account. They didn't even offer in any way to make it right. read more

Ordering for a party...and this shop provided a quality product, right on time. This is a classic Western/American pie....chewy crust, heavy cheese, good selection of toppings. Did a Vegetarian and Meat Mountain...and both were well sourced. A Gluten Free option was a hit for those in our group leaning in that direction. Salads were fresh and well assembled. Everything was hot, salads cold and crisp, and ready at the guaranteed time. Just what I needed for a small crowd. read more

Ever since my days at the U grabbing a slice between classes, I've loved The Pie. Best pizza in Utah, in my opinion!! The pizza I order most often is the Thai Pie! (I get it without chicken, but that's just me.) The peanut sauce on it is so sweet and savory. The basil, red onions, carrots and pineapple all goes well together and compliments the sauce! It's thin crust too, so you don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of bread, like some of the Pie's pies. I ordered delivery today. Pizza was delivered quickly (which is stellar on a Sunday), the delivery driver was very nice, and as you can see from the photo it arrived in nearly perfect condition. The crust is really the basis for a good pizza. I love that you can request a thick crust and it is crunchy on the bottom and chewy in the middle. You might be afraid that may make your pizza taste bready, but there are so many toppings it is more like you are eating a pie. No pun intended. My only reservation with the pie is that they do not precook thier sausage so it makes the pizza a bit greasy for my taste. I usually grab a few napkins and dab the grease off and its fine. I think that the creativity of the menu more than makes up for the greasy food for example they have apocalypdough which is a spicy dough to give your pizza a kick. read more

If one of us is grabbing something quick and for a party of 2, we grab a meat zappi and ask that they hold the ricotta. It's nice that they are willing to deliver to Cottonwood Heights. It's all about location. And this particular location isn't doing any favors for The Pie. It's not bad, but it's in a strip mall so far removed from any history or tradition that you really just have to focus on the food. And while that's not entirely bad, the food isn't (nor does it try to) blow you away and make you forget about your surroundings. I think there's a place for The Pie in Utah's pizza scene. I'll save you the trouble of looking up my review for the U of U location; I gave it five glorious stars and got a few raised eyebrows from friends. Again, it's all about location. The spot up at the U is dark, underground, and a veritable house of worship for many a student. So it's worthy of a visit and high rating. Here at the Midvale location, you're a far cry from the personality of the campus locale. The pizza isn't bad, really. Greasy? Oh ya. Dripping with cheesy indulgence. And it comes out fast. But sans campus charms there's not much to get your blood pumping. There's a big window where you can watch the dudes in the backroom (I assume there are ladies, too. I just only see dudes there) so it's great to entertain kids by watching behind the scenes. Parking is easy enough. Plenty of seating. A screened in patio. Totally passable. But there are lots of totally passable pizza places in town. read more

Y'all... this place was not the one. I was excited to have a vegan calzone because I literally hadn't had a calzone in like 8 years? So I get to the restaurant and it's so loud and chaotic. I can't tell how I'm supposed to order my food and nobody greets me so I just stand there feeling overwhelmed for a bit trying to figure it out. He got distracted and asked for it again, so sure. Simon again asked it a 3rd time and for me to spell it out. Then, again a 4th time. He then said hold on and placed us back on hold for another x minutes. After waiting again he then picked back up and asked for the address again, and quickly then informed me they don't deliver that far (I mean I live 4 minutes away...?). Awesome, local pizza place with a long standing in the Salt Lake community. They are always busy with a lot of foot traffic, and I can see why, what with $1 beer and amazing pizza. As long as you don't mind waiting a little longer for quality food, you won't be disappointed! The atmosphere is fun, you can see signatures written on the walls from 20+ years ago, which kind of takes you back in time a little bit lol. My favorite pizzas would probably be the Holy Shiitake, or the Xtreme Veggie. The Holy Shiitake pizza is great if you're a fan of lighter, thin crust like me, as they are very generous with cheese and toppings on their regular crust pizzas. Give em a try! :) read more

This evening I ordered a gluten free pizza with toppings from this location. After delivering the pizza to my wife at IHC, she called to inform me that the pepperoni (which a paid item) was left off the pizza. She knew to check since we've had the same issue three months ago. Upon calling this location, Hannah/Anna, who took my call gave me her two cents that the pepperoni will be underneath the cheese. I countered that we knew that and we've had this same issue with her store previously. She countered to take a photo and to bring it to her store for proof. I told her I was not looking for a free pizza, just a credit on the topping on my next visit. She said that was not happening. I asked to speak with her manager. She laughed, in a condescending tone, and stated that I was speaking with the manager. I asked this time to speak with the manager above her. Her response was I was questioning her intelligence then hung up. I called again and upon indicating I was the same person who called earlier, she hunh up a second time. I don't need a free pizza, just credit the topping for the next order. The first time this happened, another female employee took it upoin herself to rectify the problem by telling me it was my fault for not checking before leaving the establishment. True, but, an educated person will have completed the order correctly the first time without question. I am not going back to this location again. I hope Matthew Palmer or someone from management sees this review and deducts the price of a 14" gluten-free pizza from Hanna/Anna's weekly management check. read more

NO, YOU ARE WRONG. There were no racial slurs spoken by me or from me towards your employee. the police however were called to come and try and resolve this situation as your manager took our pizza away from me after I complained it was made incorrectly for a second time. i was told by your manager on duty that he was not going to give us the food we ordered and paid for AND he was not going to give us a refund of our money. So as far as racism being thrown out there, there may have been racism occurring but it was not on my end. We have both been customers of the PIE since college and we are now in our 50's. We understand there is a long wait and that they are busy, however this was not Friday or Saturday night, this happened after 8 p.m. on a Sunday evening. as far as you being busy goes, by the time I came in to tell anyone There were 4 employees leaning around the counter and 1 with No customers at the register. Lets get some facts straight, I was never apologized to for our food being so late, I was never told "let me fix it". I just wanted a refund for the item(s) that I paid extra for that were not on the pizza the second time it was made. I was told by another employee that our pizza had been made with sausage and hamburger that we had asked them to leave off at the time of ordering. That is why it was late coming out to us because they had realized their error And tried to remake it accurately. So now, rather than correcting what should have been a simple fix with a "sorry" and a "let me get you a side of tomatoes" I have now been publically impuned and called a racist, in affect on your response to my husbands review. Well your employee has chosen the wrong person to call a racist as about two thirds of my family and friends ARE ethnic minorities. We have friends that are Pakistani, Japanese, Phillipino, Mexican, Peruvian, Irish, Italian, chilleano, Brazilian, Polynesian, Iranian and Kenyan. I have 2sister in laws that are Mexican americans and a brother in law who is from the middle east, Jordan. I should sue your employee for liable, because if he is treating me this way He is likely treating others this way to. Rather than apologizing for being wrong wrong and wrong he chose to double down and tell a lie to make himself out to be the wronged party. You might want to tell him that if I do take him to court he will need to also have his fellow employees lie with him and for him about the racial slurs, I mean there were 4 employees within earshot and what I have just been told by you, as the representative of the company, that I was yelling so none of them could possibly have missed the so called "racial slur" that I allegedly called him, you know because I was yelling. I was able to find the owner on line and he will also be contacted. We have already taken a sceen shot of your post so you may as well leave it. Should I sue your employee and win, all moneys collected will be donated to a local charity, maybe the 4th street clinic for the homeless. If I were a general manager, I would pull all employees that were on duty that night individually into the office and ask if they heard me use a racial slur, reminding them that if you bear false witness against someone That you are breaking one of the 10 commandments and God sees everything most especially injustice. Love this place! My only complaint is that I don't live closer, and they don't deliver to my area. It's very sad and heartbreaking. We love the Pie Combo and Hawaiian pizza. I always get ranch with mine. They do charge for Ranch (lame) but it just makes the perfect combo. Their Pizza is more pricey then other places, but it is also more delicious! One day I hope to be more adventurous and try a combination they offer. We will be long time customers for sure. read more

Well the Pie has done it! Their new vegan menu is AMAZING!!!!!!!! Switching from Daiya to Follow Your Heart vegan cheese was the best move they could have ever made. The taste is 10x better as well as the consistency of the pizza, before everything would just slide right off but not anymore! My favorite vegan pies they offer are the Vegan Buffalo Chicken Ranch pie, it comes topped with garlic ranch, buffalo seitan, red onions and mozzarella. (My mouth is drooling writing this review.) My other two favorites after the Buffalo are the The Vegan Chicken Ranch and Xtreme Veggie. The chicken ranch is topped with garlic ranch, seitan, soy bacon, tomatoes, red onion and mozzarella. The xtreme veggie is packed full of fresh veggies, the artichoke hearts are my favorite. The BBQ Beef pie is good also, I'm not a huge fan of BBQ sauce.. I prefer thin crust on my pizzas, not as much crust as they originally serve and so much better in my opinion. The new wings they offer are sooo good! I tried the buffalo wings and loved them, very similar to Trolley Wing Co's vegan wings. I love their new vegan ranch, I can't express how happy I was to discover they had vegan ranch, I love my ranch! The Pie has become my favorite pizza joint again. read more

It is def they're best pie and is similar to a New York style pizza if your from out of town like me make sure you get THIN crust and LIGHT cheese.
