Brought some friends with us for our very first visit to the Pier House. We can on a slow weeknight and enjoyed having a very attentive wait staff. Parking is available in the hotel parking lot. The restaurant is clean, spacious and well lighted. We did not notice the noise from the from A1A at all until we walked outside. Our drinks arrived quickly. We found The Pier House based on reviews online and are so glad that we did! The location isn't the greatest, and you can tell that the restaurant used to be something else, but the service and the food were spectacular. We arrived and walked in and were surprised that the location didn't seem to match the menu we'd checked out online, but we sat down for dinner anyway. One of our group ordered the calzones cocktail, and the server mentioned that they grill the cactus to make the puree for it to order. With that level of detail, we had great hopes. Our drinks were great, we ordered appetizers, including the mozzarella planks, which were perfectly fried, and caprese salad, which was so fresh and delicious. As a native of New England, I've had my fair share of chowders- this clam chowder was SO flavorful. For dinner, we had steaks and seafood. The steaks were all seasoned well and cooked to the perfect temperatures and the house vegetables were cooked but still had a great texture to them. Decided on the pier house. This place is still a work in progress for appearance. The food is very good. Full bar too. Ordered a dirty martini. Ok. You need pitted olives for a martini. Bleu cheese stuffed olives are the best. I had mahi mahi with baked potato. Very good. Candyce had a NY strip with mash potatoes. My starter was the new England clam chowder. Now that was good. If I could give 0 stars I would. This has to be the worst breakfast establishment I've ever been in. Walked in the place smelled dingy and looked really old but we were hungry and it was late. There was a breakfast buffet. All the food looked old and hard. The pancakes were hard the grits looked inedible as did the eggs! Ended up paying $38 for the mini bagels and 2 pieces of whole wheat toast - the only edible things available in the buffet. Holy Moly we just had the most amazing meal here. I'm not from the area and was under the impression it had been around for awhile, but apparently only about a year. I'm guessing they're waiting, wisely, to sink some money into the decor because it's currently quite nondescript, but man don't let looks fool you. First, the cocktails were delicious and perfectly strong, much better than some other watered down drinks I've had in the area. We started by sharing a snow crab leg dinner with garlic butter as an appetizer. We shared a very good Caesar salad, clam chowder and lobster bisque. The bisque is really one of the best I've ever had, sweet, creamy, good amount of tender meat and just enough sherry. We then had the aged ribeye and filet au poivre, with excellent shoestring fries. The steaks had outstanding flavor and texture, were perfectly cooked to order and were enormous. I really should have taken pictures but was too busy just eating. My husband loved his snapper Alfredo pasta. I got the chicken and completely honestly I think I like chickfilla grilled nuggets more. Do not trust this place! We made reservations and drove 35 minutes to get here. We arrived ON TIME! He would not honor our reservation! I had even responded back to the reservation prompt to confirm! Looking around the room at 7:30 they were literally only half full or less. I showed him my reservation confirmation on my phone and he tells me they don't honor those! OMG the food at this place is horrible, imo not even edible. Hubby and I both ordered the clam chowder(couldn't see or taste any clams, just carrots,potatoes and some nasty over powering spice). We also both ordered the twin lobster tails, couldn't taste lobster, they were covered with some nasty over powering spice(probably to try and cover up that they were not at all fresh). They said they were served with melted butter, but it was margarine. Hubby got fries, they were ok, i got a side salad with bottled ranch dressing that tasted like vinegar. We got an over priced bottle of wine(it was ok but way over priced for what it was).
