Flew into Maui on a late Sunday flight and found most of the restaurants and food trucks to be closed for the night. The only spot open besides bars, convenience stores or supermarkets was Auntie's Smokehouse which happens to be open 24/7. I was pleasantly surprised by the uniqueness of the offerings. I had the papaya slaw and drunken noodles with oxtail. Portions were generous and both dishes were split between two. The slaw tasted like similar slaws but had a moderate added sweetness from the papaya shreds. The drunken noodles were cooked perfectly and had a fragrant spices. Spiciness was a 4/10 which was a good level to enjoy and let the oxtail flavors come through as well. Ox tail was tender and flavorful. Service was good. We ended up taking the food back to the hotel, but there were a few table and chairs set up to eat on the spot. Likely will return to try more of their offerings.

HOLY SMOKES!!! My manager ordered this when we couldn't take lunch because it got so busy at work. One of the best BBQ ribs I've ever had! And that says a lot because I don't like ribs much. But I want to try again! I've been thinking about these ribs since I last ate them last month lol PACKING WITH FLAVOR !!! And the portion is huge !! 5/5!!! Thank you !!!

The service size of the food was incredibly small. Paid 50$ for a few bites of food. I would only go here if you wanted to get scammed.

The wagon shares a lot with a seafood place and what I think was a shave ice stand. There was plenty of off-street parking. It was a blazing hot day, made worse by pavement and a lack of shade or much greenery. You have to walk over some gravel to place and get your order. The window of the truck is very high; I could barely reach it. They do take credit cards. The owner is nice and chatty, and was busy flirting with the young women in line in front of me. Since I never know if I'll be back to a BBQ place, I always go for a sampler plate. The three meat option set me back $25, but the portions were generous and could easily feed two, or maybe even three if their appetites were light. I don't care for coleslaw, so I asked for a double heap of potato salad. But my request was forgotten and I ended up with coleslaw anyway. I was told I could change it, but I didn't want to waste food. The owner said it was pineapple coleslaw and that people who didn't like coleslaw liked it. (I didn't care for it.) There were some tables and chairs but no umbrellas or shade. I was told the unbrellas kept getting blown away or stolen. I didnt want to eat in the car so I sat at one of the tables and hoped for a breeze. The meats I chose were brisket, chicken, and pork ribs. The brisket was best, soft with a nice smoke ring. I tried the house-made BBQ sauce; it was the thin and vinegary type. It was okay, but mostly I went without it. The chicken is usually my favorite, but it came in second here, being a little on the dry side. The biggest disappointment was the pork ribs. The meat was really tough and had to be dragged away, kicking and screaming, from the bone. (It should fall right off.) I liked the potato salad. If I ever go back here, I'll just order a half-pound or pound of brisket by itself.

The truck itself is fun, painted with bright tropical colors and scenes, and they seem to be known for their loaded tots and bao buns. I placed my order on the touchscreen outside and then sat down to wait for my food. For lunch on this day I went with the buffalo chicken tots and the Island Piggy bao. The menu described the bao as kalua pork, BBQ sauce, tropical salsa, and pickled red onions. The buffalo chicken tots were described as buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, jack cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and ranch dressing. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I sat down at one of the shaded picnic tables. When I opened everything up it all looked good, but I did notice that the tots were missing the house made pickles. I started with the bao and thought it was pretty good. The kalua pork was super juicy and the bao bun was light and fluffy while still holding together well. The pickled onions added a nice acidity and the tropical salsa brought good flavor. The only thing I did not notice much was the BBQ sauce. After that I dug into the tots. The tots themselves were cooked nicely with a crispy outside and soft inside. The chicken was good as well with a nice batter and the buffalo sauce added flavor while the cheese was gooey. The only thing worth noting is that the chicken was softer than expected and not very crispy. It worked since I did have the texture from the crispy tots, but it stood out. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would probably not order both a bao and tots again as it was a lot of food, but I would definitely come back for one or the other.

We came here twice and I got the 3 bao slider combo each time. - The BAO*CHICKA*BAO*BAO was one of my favorite sandwiches. - My second favorite was the ISLAND PIGGY. I got this both times. - the LITTLE PIGGY was good, but a little overhyped in my opinion. But good to try. - the DUCK DUCK GOAT was wildly disappointing. As you can see in the picture, all meat and almost nothing else. Maybe a few silvers of cabbage. But where's the goat cheese and the fig jam?!? We also got the ALOHA TOTS. Huge portion so that was nice. But the kalua pork was pretty watery and made the crispy tots go soggy pretty fast. Overall a solid spot. Definitely worth trying at least once.

My wife has a bridal party to attend and I was left to fend for myself. Maui Lobster King was a solid stop. The garlic shrimp absolutely hit the spot. Garlicky, buttery, messy in the best possible way, definitely not first-date food unless you're trying to find out how committed they really are. The salt and pepper lobster was really good too. Plenty of flavor, cooked well, and exactly the kind of thing you should be eating when you're in Hawaii and pretending calories don't exist on vacation. Service was surprisingly fast, especially since we came in ready to settle in for a while. The restaurant itself was quiet, clean, and pretty relaxed. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard, just good food without a whole production. Overall, a solid 4 stars. Good food, quick service, and I left full and smelling faintly of garlic. That's a successful vacation meal in my book.

This one is all about surf and turf, local style, and the lineup looks like something you'd expect from a steakhouse rather than a truck with wheels. I went straight for their signature twelve ounce prime rib with creamed potatoes, because when you see prime rib coming out of a food truck, you have to test whether dreams really do come true. Let me tell you, they do. The meat was juicy, tender, and cooked with way more skill than I was prepared for while standing under palm trees in a garden. The creamed potatoes were rich, velvety, and the perfect partner to all that beefy glory. I actually caught myself grinning between bites because it was just that satisfying. The whole vibe of eating prime rib in the middle of a tropical garden adds a little bit of magic to the experience. You're sitting there, surrounded by lush greenery, people milling around with poke bowls and smoothies, and suddenly you're carving into a slab of steak that belongs on a white tablecloth. It is part fine dining, part Maui chill, and completely awesome. The staff at the truck were friendly, quick, and clearly proud of what they're serving. And they should be. This is one of those food trucks that could easily pull off a brick-and-mortar restaurant, but instead you get to enjoy it in a garden setting with your flip flops on. I walked away full, happy, and already plotting my return to work my way through the rest of the menu. Aloha Prime Eatery is a serious new contender in the South Maui food truck scene and absolutely worth seeking out.
