I cannot believe I've never been to this food hall. Was on my way to see Nicki Glaser at the Alabama theater and we had some time so we decided to stop in for a bite to eat. It was so pretty in there it was all decorated for Christmas. It feels like you're at the mall, but just the food court but fancier. They have a bar in the middle of this food court. That's really pretty didn't get a chance to get a drink. It was kind of busy on a Friday night, but I'll definitely be back. I had tacos chicken quesadilla was very delicious. Cheesy and my companion tacos. If you haven't been here before you're definitely missing out. There's many choices to choose from Mexican to pho to American. I love a good food hall. We ended up here because there was a yelp event at a nearby business, but we got food and drinks here beforehand. Lots of fun options to choose from Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Tacos, Sandwiches, Po Boys, and ice cream. There were clean bathrooms available. Parking was a challenge because you basically have to find street parking, which took us a little bit. There are a couple garages close by that you can pay for parking as well. read more

Yelp! I am back. I can not understand why you are so empty Pizitz, with these limited food choices. I was here 3 months ago and 3 more restaurants are already gone. We are a party of five coworkers grabbing an early dinner before going home. I am so GLAD the Standard is still going strong, otherwise we would be stopping and picking up more food on the way home outside of this "food hall". You empty. I got The standard, they actually had bologna today. I got a sandwich with tots. This thang here good, that's why they always sold out. Watermelon girl had a burrito with salsa and queso from Unos taco. She said it's okay, but Full of rice. SL had quesadillas, they were okay. Ash had a Pho bowl and it's yuck. I didn't mind this place, but I didn't think the food was worth the cost--nearly $20 for 3 tacos that weren't mind blowing (and they were out of guac). We were there during prime time, and oh boy was it a mess--mobs of people globbing to any available eatery. Seating was fine outside, but I got eaten alive by bugs. Very nice! A great variety for a group of people all looking for something different. Our only complaint was the slow cooking time and maybe not enough tables. We did go on a busy night where there were lines at each venue. There is a great set of vendors at Pizitz. I had a good Thai dish and my friend ate at Ono Poke. You'll get variety, quality food and enthusiastic, entrepreneurial vendors. The problem is ambiance. I think attention to the sound and a little design and decor to soften up the place and make it feel more welcoming would help it draw repeat customers. I want to love the Pizitz Food Hall. But it's loud. There is no acoustic management. Sound bounces off of hard surfaces everywhere. They're pumping in music on top of it all, and there don't seem to be any places to hide from it. The lighting is cold and stark. The seating areas feel like a mall and not a place you would want to gather and enjoy a drink or meal with friends. read more

I was very shocked to find out that I apparently somehow have never reviewed this place. It is a great addition to Birmingham. The food hall is great, with some really great places to shine residing here. There are all kinds of options here, so every person should be able to find something to eat. Some of those options are Eli's Jerusalem Grill (kabobs and mediterranean), Ashley Mac's (coming soon. Sadly replacing the Ethiopian place we loved), Pho Pho Vietnamese, Mo Mo (Dumplings and Banh Mi), Ono Poke (Japanese), Unos Tacos (Mexican), Waffles, and even a great bar in the middle for those wanting some drinks. There is also a section where restaurants get to try out their concept in a small area before going on to get their own location. This allows for new concepts to come in every so often as well. There are also stores like Warby Parker (glasses) and Yellowhammer print shop (local goods) to browse. I hope Pizitz lasts for years to come! read more

Well I do love a food hall ..... and here is why- the picky whiny teenager can find things she wil eat or drink. So we are here today on a Saturday with a lot of action happening around us. We started at broad street peaux boys and then went to pho pho and ono poke. The shrimp and fried green tomatoe po boy was excellently cooked and hot and fresh. They know what they are doing. Then we went to ono poke and made a tuna bowl with brown rice and other great things. It was also fresh and tasty. Then to pho pho for a beef pho.... Hot and spicy. Last but not least to the thirstea cafe for a boba tea. Yes the teenager had to have one. This place was packed. I love all the restaurants but they need more help wiping down tables and keeping eating surfaces clean. Other than that I give it a "awesome" place to be. read more

the only food hall in birmingham! absolutely enjoy coming here on my lunch break or for happy hour, as there are a great variety of food options to choose from. there are several food stands and also a bar in the center of the court. there is tons of seating available, but it can get pretty packed during lunch hours. i also enjoy coming here in the afternoon to get some work done once the lunch crowd is all gone. the ambiance is pretty chill and casual but it can get a little loud during peak hours due to the great number of people that come here for lunch. read more

Last year we stopped here on our way to Birmingham and there were more vendors. Pizza and candy shop are gone sadly. The place is still neat but not a cheap experience, my Thai fresh rolls were definitely not fresh. My husband and daughter enjoyed their Indian food and a great portion for the price. I always feel like I'm in a larger city when I go here for a meal or a cocktail. The diversity of food, the busyness in the atmosphere, the laughter, the colors and the great food. The food at Nola's Ice was wonderful. I had the traditional red beans and rice, great! The portion was more than enough, $5. My friend had the pork chop and she said that it was full of flavor and just the right crispness, $11 for the meal. The seating was comfortable and the service was warm and inviting. Apparently if you go during the weekdays parking in the garage is free! Check it out for for some great food and options. I'll go back! read more

This food hall is an excellent addition to the Birmingham scene. Its a great place to go with larger groups where everyone can find something that why want... no more trying to pick a place that appeals to everyone! Peking is super easy next door (and free for a few hours). Some of the stalls change regularly, so check before you go to make sure your favorite stall is still there! read more

What a fun spot! We grabbed a late lunch at the taco place and some cocktails here on a recent trip to Birmingham. I liked that there was a variety of food offerings and you can have them bring your food to you if you're sitting at the bar. Great customer service from the guys who worked at the food stand as well as the bartender. Also, great location in the city. We walked here from our hotel so not sure what the parking situation is. read more

My first visit here was long overdue, but I know I will definitely be back. It's basically an upscale mall food court. About two actual stores that include Warby Parker that sells sunglasses and Yellowhammer Creative, your go to for Birmingham souvenirs. There were about 15 different restaurants. Two Ethiopian places, a place for Indian cuisine, a cheese shop, two places serving Asian cuisine, a place for Southern cooking, a place with burgers and hotdogs, and a couple more I can't remember off the top of my head. I ended up choosing the Louis Bar and getting pizza from Iron Pie Pizza. Not bad at all. They have a parking deck which you can park in for free the first two hours, then $5 and up if you plan to stay longer. Although it's nice for them to have, this is by far the scariest parking deck I've ever parked in! The clearance was 6'0... so lifted trucks beware....There was only one lane to go up in like a carousel, and the spaces were so tight! I felt like I was gonna hit EVERY car going straight and under 5 miles an hour. I think I will stick to street parking when coming here. You have to pay the meters weekdays before 6pm, but weekends and evenings are fair game :) read more

The Pizitz Food Hall has so many things I love about Birmingham. History, great food and a fun place to go. So if you want a cool experience, you need to go here. You get free parking up to 2 hours and they have a really awesome bar surrounded by good local eats. I tend to lump the food halls I have been to into the food truck scene. Don't get me wrong, I love both because of the situations they give you. It is convenient and diverse. The biggest problem is that it is a little overpriced and the food is being cranked out faster than the highest quality can keep up with. That is an overgeneralization I realize. But that has just been my experience. But if you factor in the coolness factor that I am eating pho in a remodeled building that once housed Birmingham's hottest department store. I can't complain too much. Add in that free parking, and I'm all about it. I have not tried every place here and there is a little turnover. So I plan on going back and trying more places and supporting local. read more

I visited here with family members on a Saturday night after a wedding and it was the perfect way to wind down at the end of the night. We enjoyed cocktails from The Louis and a snack of chicken and waffles from waffle works. We were able to sit down, talk and enjoy our drinks--it was busy but not too loud or crowded like a bar might have been at that time. Because I have family in Birmingham I have been to the city more times than I can count. However, the Pizitz offered a new perspective on the city that I did not know much about--it felt very young and modern and left me excited for my next trip to town. read more

Finally made my way to the Pizitz Food Hall to see what all the hub-bub was about and now I understand! Taking up practically the entire block (including it's parking deck), PFH is right across the street from the famous McWane Center... so now you know exactly where to go. If you can't find a parking spot on the street, just use the attached parking deck built just for the PFH. So you can't use the excuse that it's difficult to find parking because it's downtown :-) The layout and design is simple. Put a cool bar right in the middle and then put restaurant stalls around it. The decoration and style is quite modern with simple black and a lot more white (look up at the ceiling). There is just enough room for walking with the many tables scattered throughout. There is no formal "waiter" service so you place your order and then wait for your name/number to be announced. For those that just want water, there are free water coolers located nearby. There is also a large courtyard area with tables and umbrellas! The Pizitz Food Hall is practically it's own country... well countries within a country. I heard it described as an international airport with a great bar and each stall as a gate bound for different countries. That is a perfect description. I love the Pizitz Food Hall. It's an incubator for ambitious chefs and restaurateurs. The food stalls provides an excellent opportunity to showcase their concept(s) without investing in a startup venue. And the Hall gives them exposure to a wide audience. I applaud the developer(s) who brought this concept to life. This is a must stop if you like supporting local, aspiring chefs.. To me the food is hit or miss. Many of the stalls are startups so I think there is some trial and error going on. I probably would experiment and welcome customer feedback if I were getting into the restaurant business. Also, food is a bit expensive for a food court and self-service format. I think having an open mind and tempering expectations might be a good approach. We visited on a Thursday night for dinner and enjoyed "Thursday Night Live!". It's live music in the courtyard from 6:00 - 8:30. On this night the duo was forced indoors because of rain. The acoustics inside are not very good, but they made the best of the situation. read more

Maybe some of that has gone down some. I heard some of the places are temporary so don't get hooked. Prices were a bit inflated. Parking was difficult. Location is not ideal. It's a fancy food court. A much needed addition in Birmingham. Would be cool if they could just change Brookwood Mall into dinning hall as well. The food here is good but pretentious and a bit overprice. There are soo many good options here, literally something for everyone! I'm the most indecisive person ever though so it's always tough trying to figure out which place to try. I settled on Ono Poke when I came, and luckily it was delish!! The salmon was fresh, they had a great variety of toppings, and you can get as many toppings as you want! It came out to about $11 for a Big bowl (Big is actually the smaller size, don't ask me why). I also had a chai tea from the tea place which was alright, a bit pricey for tea though ($5.50). There's plenty of seating, plus outside seating in a little patio, and a parking deck next door. I definitely want to go back again to try all the other places! read more

I'll preface this review by stating I have the luxury of traveling all over the country for a living and I get to see places like this a long the way. The Pizitz is on the right track with just a few things that need to be ironed out IMO. Types of food - great selection of food from all over so far and yet the main corner places haven't even opened yet. The Standard (Burger and hot dogs) being the latest to open was a welcomed addition to the property as some of the other places are more adventurous for some folks. Ambience - It's sort of strange for a food hall of this type. The lights are VERY bright at night or turned off. There doesn't seem to be an in between and wrecks the mood for me. The furniture is strange inside and cheapens the aesthetics of the property that the developer worked so hard to restore. Also, the furniture being able to be moved makes for some disastrous walking when carrying a tray of food. Typically tables are fastened to the floor at most of the food halls I visit. They also are usually much more appealing to the eye. Tray Service - This is another strange operation here. There isn't really any thought out way to dispose of your garbage and return your trays. They aren't uniform and are specific to the booth, yet the garbage places don't have turn racks for anything. It's not very thought out and a huge hassle if you've ordered from a few places. Parking - They have a garage and it's FREE for the first two hours. Doesn't get much better than that. Courtyard - It's rad. You need to check it out. To be fair, I'd give the place 4.25 Stars out of 5. My only gripes are silly and mostly in regards to design and aesthetics. (Bolt your tables to the floor) read more
